Bill Neal
Bill Neal, 83, of Lowell, died Sunday, August 20, 2000 at Lowell. He was born March 1, 1917 at Murray, the son of Amos A. and Sarah Tuggle Neal.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a charter member and deacon of Nail United Baptist Church, present member and deacon of United Baptist Church in Springdale; Master Mason, belonged to Swain Lodge 756, member of NARFE Chapter 1815, retired civil service and AARP Chapter 2356, former owner and operator of Neal General Store and retired in 1980 with 27 and 1/2 years as postmaster of Nail.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Roy N., Tarleton P., Harvey W., Melvin P., Floyd E. and Jessie A. Neal.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Watson Neal of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Rea L. Sparks of Tecumseh, Okla., Thelma and Ivan Bromley of Lowell, Patricia and Bruce Thurman of Waltonville, Ill.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren and 10 great-stepgrandchildren.
Buried August 23, 2000 at Mossville United Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Spurlock officiating. Burial was in Mossville cemetery. Pallbearers were Freddie Edgmon, Virgil Edgmon, Roy Watson, Duel Ramsey, Pete Edgmon and Kevin Robertson. Honorary pallbearers were David Sparks, Gilbert and Tracy Brewer.

Elmarene Van Curen, 75, of Ponca, AR died Saturday, March 24, 2001 in Harrison, AR She was born June 21, 1925 in Boxley, AR to Harry & Ersa Farmer Primrose. Mrs. Van Curen was a resident Newton County and a former resident of Kansas City, MO. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Mt. Springs, AR and Bible Study Fellowship for 6 years. She was a homemaker. She was precede in death by her parents, her husband, Orbie Van Curen, a daughter, Patricia Villines, 3 granddaughters, 1 great granddaughter, 1 brother & 1 sister.
Survivors include 1 son, Eldon Van Curen of Fayetteville, AR, 4 daughters, Darlene Parker, Ponca, AR, Linda Sitton, Harrisonville, MO, Barbara Crocker, Carthage, MO, Sylvia Wildman, Bella Vista, AR; 1 brother, Gene Primrose, Blue Springs, MO; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at Beachwood Church at 2:00 PM with burial in the Beachwood cemetery under the direction of the Christeson Funeral Home of Harrison, AR. Rev. Carl Goodall officiated. Visitation was 6-8 PM on Monday, March 26, 2001 at Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison.
Jennifer Marie Cate Booth
Jennifer Marie Cate Booth, 33, of Springdale died February 15, 2000, in Little Rock. She was born Dec. 18, 1966, in Fayetteville to Charles Lee and Mary Sue Phillips Cate. She was a billing clerk at Multi-Craft Contractors for 13 years and a member of Robinson Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Brad Booth of the home, to whom she was married
Oct. 6, 1990; her children, Tyler Ray Booth and Mallory Alexis Booth, both of the home; her parents of Springdale; one brother, Nathan Cate of Springdale; maternal grandmother, Mabel K. Phillips of Springdale; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Marie Cate of Springdale.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with Dub DeLoach and Gary Frasier officiating. Burial will be in Friendship cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Crowell, Heath Holland, Dave Graves, Greg Thornton, James Smithey and Rick Barrows. Memorials may be made to the Booth Children’s Trust, c/o Springdale Bank and Trust.
Daniel Theodore Bostic, Jr.
Daniel Theodore Bostic, Jr., 80, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born June 7, 1920 in Lamesa, Texas, the son of Daniel Theodore, Sr. and Mary Lucy (Parsons) Bostick.
Early in his life the family moved to Big Spring, Texas where Dan or "Buster" as he was known attended school. On February 9, 1940 he was united in marriage to Alma Juanita Pool in Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by an infant son who died the day of his birth.
Dan served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II from June 1944 to February 1946. While in the military he received training as a diesel engine mechanic, a trade that he would use later in life. After his honorable dischage the family settled back in Big Spring where Dan worked for Cosden Refining. Later the family moved to Springdale, Arkansas where he again worked as a diesel engine mechanic until his retirement in the 1980' s. In what free time he had, Dan enjoyed the history of the old west, antiques, and reading. He was a Baptist and a past member of the Veterans of Foreign War.
Survivors include his wife of the home in Schell City, Juanita Bostick; three daughters, Brenda LaBounty of Schell City, Missouri, Judy Hefner of Springdale, Arkansas, and Betty Carlton of Kingston, Arkansas; one brother, Bill Bostick of Big Spring, Texas, two sisters, Lilly Finley of Roswell, New Mexico, and Pearl Brown of Mineral Wells, Texas; six grandchildren, Lisa Gannaway, Randy and Danny Johnson, Laura and Steve LaBounty, and Kim Sumner; ten great-grandchildren, Brandon and Lindsay Standridge, Amber, Brandon, Dustin, Brittany, and Baleigh Johsnon, Lauren LaBounty, and Samantha and Dusty Sumner; and one great great-grandson Maison Phipps; neices; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Graveside services with military funeral honors were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2001 at the Green Lawn cemetery in Schell City, Missouri with Pastor Marvin Jamison officiating. Service arrangements were under the direction of the Lewis- Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City, Missouri.
Truman William Bowen
Truman William Bowen, 84, of Springdale died June 3, 2001, at Springdale. He was born March 9, 1917, at Coffeyville, Kan., to Floyd Columbus and Mollie Gertrude Norris Bowen. He was a retired farmer and a member of Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He had worked with the Corps of Engineers and was involved in development of Devil's Den State Park. He was preceded in death by his wives, Dorothy Francis Eoff Bowen and Emmagine Cook Bowen.
Survivors include his mother of Huntsville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy David Bowen and Karla of Springdale and the Rev. Darriel Bowen and Orpha of Harrison; three daughters and sons-in-law, Chrystene McKenzie and Sonny, Betty Whittaker and Richard and Fern Robbins and Johnnie, all of Springdale; one sister, Daisy Mae Reed of Huntsville; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sisco Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. Berton Perry officiating. Burial will be in Kingston cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Truman Kyle Bowlin
Truman Kyle Bowlin, 89, of Fayetteville died Dec. 18, 1999, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Aug. 25, 1910, at Clifty to Bill and Rosetta Gibson Bowlin. He was retired from Campbell Soup Co.
He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Sarah Irene Bowlin, on May 5, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, William Clifford Bowlin and Harley Gordon Bowlin, both of Fayetteville; four daughters, Rosalee Turner, Ethel Marie Lackey, Mary Zachary and Ola Jean Warford, all of Fayetteville; one sister; Ola Dowell of Henning, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one greet-great grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville with the Rev. Eldon Bagwell officiating. Burial will be in Friendship cemetery in Springdale.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Moore's Chapel.
Byron Otis Boyd
Byron Otis Boyd, 82, of Fayetteville died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Born June 23, 1918, at Warner, Okla., the son of Ruben Earl and Lola Colvin Boyd, he was a former partner/owner of Brennan-Boyd Construction Co. Inc. in Fayetteville from 1958-1986. He was a controller for Ditmars-Dickmann-Pickens and Bond Construction Co. in Little Rock from 1942-1958; was material expediter for Manhattan Construction Co. from 1941-1942 and city manager of Santa Fe Trail Bus Co. from 1936-1942.
He graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1936, completed business-administration courses from Oklahoma State University and received his CPA in 1943.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville and Holy Souls Catholic Church in Little Rock. He was a member of Arkansas Builders and Contractors, Fayetteville Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Elks Club, Moose Club, United Fund, past president of the Chamber of Commerce of Fayetteville, a member of the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, United States Chamber of Commerce, Arabella Guild and an officer of United Commercial Travelers. He served six years on different boards of the City of Fayetteville and Planning Commission; four years on the board of the Chamber of Commerce of Fayetteville; four years on the Council at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Pillar Club and United Way. In 1990, he received the Contractors Association Award for "Contribution to Excellence in Arkansas' Construction Industry."
He was a sergeant in the Oklahoma National Guard from 1934-1942; warrant officer in the Naval Air Force in World War II from 1942-1945; Officer's Reserve from 1945-1950; Korean War instructor from 1950-1952.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude 'Honey' Boyd of 62 years. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Boyd Smith and Betty Boyd Marinoni of Fayetteville and Patty Boyd Kelly of Aurora, Ill.; a sister, Bea Parsons of Pomona, Calif.; four grandsons, Stephen Lindsey Smith of Fayetteville, Byron Scott Smith of Alaska, W. Thomas 'Tommy' Kelly III of Chicago and Kevin Brennan Kelly of Washington, D.C.; four granddaughters, Melissa Marinoni Smith of Maumelle, Lara Marinoni Henry of Rogers, Lydia Marinoni Tedford of Dallas, Texas, and Jennifer-Joe Smith Beaver of Fayetteville; five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001, followed by a 6:30 p.m. Rosary Service at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. A Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Joseph Catholic Church building fund, 321 E. Lafayette St., Fayetteville, 72701 or St. Joseph Catholic School, 313 E. Lafayette, Fayetteville, 72701.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
Alta Nadine (Kilgore) Brown
Alta Nadine (Kilgore) Brown, age 59, of Berryville passed away January 21 at her home. She was born May 5, 1941 at Low Gap, the daughter of Eugene and Dollie (Wishon) Kilgore. She was a homemaker and had worked at Tyson's in Berryville. She lived in Green Forest before moving to Berryville in 1988. She attended the Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her mother, Dollie Molder of Green Forrest, 4 sons; Dwayne Baker, Darvin Baker, Arlis Carpenter all of Green Forrest and Allen Carpenter of Berryville, one daughter of Berryville, Anna Carpenter, 4 brothers; Junior Kilgore of Hattison, Dillard Kilgore of Green Forrest, Hillard Kilgore of Low gap and Homer G. H. Kilgore of Green Forrest, 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Services were Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at Low Gap Church with the Reverend Garry Bryant officiating. Sonny Kilgore and Ronald Kilgore, honorary Pallbearers were Mary and Larry Fuller and Kay Pemberton. Burial was in the Low Gap cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home. Memorial may be made to the Low Gap Church.
Ellis Dewane Brown
Ellis Dewane Brown, 62, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, Dec. 25 2001 at his home. Funeral was 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 at Nail Church. Burial was in Hickory Grove cemetery at Nail under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel of Harrison.
He was born Nov. 9, 1939, at Nail, a son of Goldie and Georgia Daniels Brown.
Survivors include his sister, Neva Robinson of Dutch Mills; a brother, Dellis Wane Brown of Harrison; nephews Ronnie Brown of Springfield, Mo., Glen Brown of Quilla, Texas, Douglas Brown of Harrison and Bradley Brown of Little rock; nieces Brenda Brown and Sandra Ricketts, both of Harrison; great-nephews Dustin Brown of Springfield, Mo. and Adam Brown of Quilla, Texas and four great-nieces Jessica Brown of Springfield, Mo., Mary Brown of Quilla, Texas, Kelly Ricketts and Shaley Brown, both of Harrison.

Rudolph L. Buell
Rudolph L. Buell, 88, of Bentonville died May 26, 2001, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born Aug. 4, 1912, in Green Forest to Sherman and Melandy Benton Buell. He was a longtime resident of Bentonville and owned and operated Buell hardware for many years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was a lead bomber and in charge of 72 missions. He retired as a lieutenant-colonel and received the Distinguished Flying Cross award and the Army's Air Medal. He enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Rakes Buell of the home, whom he married
April 23, 1983; one brother, Kelly Buell of Bentonville; two grandchildren, Angela Schuldt of Fayetteville and Mathew Jones of Benton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Callison-Lough Funeral Service in Bentonville. Burial will follow in Bentonville cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Helen Mae Spence Bullock
Helen Mae Spence Bullock, age 73, a resident of the Kenwood Community near Atkins, Arkansas, died Thursday, March 22, 2001 at Danville, Arkansas. She was born on March 21, 1928 at Lurton, Arkansas to the late Oral Savage. She was the wife of the late Nelson Jay Spence and the daughter-in-law of the late Alfred Edward Spence and Julia Ella Mae Bewley Spence. She was a member of the Assemblies of God and the World Wide Dream Builders. She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; a sister, Marie Smallen; and a brother, Leonard Savage.
She is survived by her mother, Delphia Hill of Bixby, OK; one son Edward Nelson Spence of Bixby, OK; 3 daughters, Sharon Boyer of the Kenwood Community; Linda Pendergraft of Danville, AR and Cheryl McArther of Rogers, AR; 2 brothers, Gerald Hill of Owasso, OK and Larry Hill of Springdale, AR; a sister, Reba Walker of Claremore, OK; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2001 at the Shinn Chapel with Evangelist Lauce Pendergraft and Reverend Rex Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh cemetery at Atkins under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Visitation will be Sunday, March 25, 2001 from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leslie Wayne 'Sam' Butts
Leslie Wayne 'Sam' Butts, 66, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Huntsville, died April 23, 1999 at the Department of Veterans Affaires Medical Center in Wichita. He was born January 3, 1933 at Boston, Arkansas, the son of Walter A. and Hannah Belle Seals Butts. He was employed by Cessna Aircraft in Wichita prior to moving to Arkansas and was a veteran of the Korean War, Serving in the united States Army. He was a member of the American Legion and Kingston Lodge #116, Independent Order of Oddfellows and was active in the Masonic fraternity holding memberships in Swain Lodge #765, Freeland Accepted Masons, Huntsville Lodge #364, Free and Accepted Mason, Huntsville Chapter #154, Royal Arch Masons, Huntsville Council #77, Royal and Select Masters, Saint John's Commandery #36, Knight s Templar and the Western Arkansas Scottish Rite Bodies at Fort Smith.. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Evelyn Swift Butts on January 12, 1991.
Survivors include: two sons, Jeffery W. Corey of Easton, Pennsylvania and Terry A. Butts of Wichita, Kansas: one brother, Doyle Butts of Lynnville, Indiana: two sisters, Mrs. Ossie Pianalto of La Habra, California and Mrs. Velma Hattabaugh of Durham, Arkansas; and three grandsons Jacob Butts and Clint Butts, both of Lawtey, Florida and Anthony Foster of Wichita, Kansas.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, in the Chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Masonic Rites by Huntsville Lodge #364, Free and Accepted Masons. Interment was in the Boston cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home. Pallbearers were members of Huntsville Lodge #364, Free and Accepted Masons.

Grace Caldwell, 76, of Pocahontas died May 19, 2001, at her home. She was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Croweburg, Kan., to Joseph and Emma Trotter Barton.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy Falkenstein of Seligman, Mo., Cathy Flowers of Carthage, Mo., and Janet Clark of Lebanon, Mo.; one brother, Bill Trotter of Gateway; one sister, Jean Thomas of Rogers; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Wesleyan Church with Gary Snow officiating. Burial will be in Bland cemetery at Rogers. Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers and Cox-Waymond Funeral Home in Pocahontas.

Charlotta M. Campbell, 57, of Pelsor, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at Harrison.
She was born March 7, 1944, at Jasper, daughter of the late Fred and Arple (Reddell) Carter. She was the wife of Dorvin Campbell.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at Piercetown Holiness Church. Burial in Smith cemetery at Vendor under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home. Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. She requested a closed casket funeral.

Charlotta May Campbell, age 57 of Pelsor, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. She was born March 7, 1944 at Jasper, Arkansas a daughter to Brad and Arpie (Reddell) Carter. She was a housewife and a life time resident of Newton County.
She was precede in death by her parents and three brothers, Charles Carter, Julie Carter and Hancel Carter.
Survivors are her husband, Dorvin Campbell of the home; two sons, Lorne Campbell of Pelsor and Warren Campbell of Piercetown; one daughter, Sondra DeLynn Campbell of the home; two brothers, James Carter of Piercetown and Travis Carter of Flemington, Missouri; one sister, Louella Carter of Sherwood, AR; three grandchildren and a very special friend, Linda Stuckey of Pelsor.
Services were Saturday, March 24, 2001 at the Piercetown Holiness Church with Rev. Rex Middleton officiating. Burial was in the Smith cemetery at Vendor under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23.
Pallbearers were Joe Ricketts, Glen Ricketts, Dennis Collins, Mike Carter, Richard Carter and J.C. Bower. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Dotson and Charles Dotson.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at Coffman Chapel in Jasper. Burial will be in Union Hill cemetery at Parthenon under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23.
The son of Berlin and Bonnie (Breedlove) Carlton of Jasper was born Jan. 16, 1959, at Harrison.
Harry Wayne Carlton
Harry Wayne Carlton, 77, of Swain died September 6, 1999 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born June 21, 1922, in Swain to Joseph Rastus 'J. R.' and Iva Harriet Thomas Carlton. He was a marine Corps veteran of World War II and an employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Tulsa, Okla., for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie M. Archer Carlton of Swain; two sons, Chris Carlton and Jack David Carlton, both of Tulsa; on brother; Jack Carlton of Springdale; four grandchildren; thee great-grandchildren.
Services were Sept. 8 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper. Troy Plumlee officiated. Burial was in Swain cemetery.
