Smith, S.P.C., Conway, Jan 20 - S.P.C. Smith, aged 75 years, former treasurer of Faulkner county, died today at his home at Kendall, near Conway. He had been a resident of Faulkner county nearly 50 years, coming here from Georgia. He served two terms as treasurer, from 1890 until 1894. He was elected as a Populist. 1/21/1917

Smith, W.G. | W.G. Smith, aged 55, died at the family residence, 1218 Welch street, at 6:45 o'clock yesterday morning. He had been a resident of Little Rock for the past 10 years, and was employed as staiton manager at the Rock Island station. He is survived by his wife of Little Rock, and two sisters of New York. Mr. Smith was a member of the order of Railway Conductors, Division 566, also a shriner of the Mecca temple of Denver Colo., and a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge and Knights Templar Commandery of New York. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon, in charge of the Rev. B.F. Cato, J.T. Gelstor and J.T. Smith, William, William Smith, 47 years old, died at a local hospital last night. He was born in Ohio and has resided in Little Rock for four years. He was employed as a joiner at the Bebee Stave factory. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Hazel Guether of Fort Wayne, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. O.P. Hudson of Warren. Smith, William, Fort Smith, March 20 - William Smith, aged 76, a farmer living at Lowell, was found dead tonight in the Southern hotel at Bentonville. The cause of his death is not known, but it is believed that he suffered from heart disease. He was serving as a member of the Petit Jury of the Circuit Court at Bentonvile. 3/21/1917

Smothers, L.S., Funeral services for L.S. Smothers, aged 80, who dies at 11:30 yesterday morning at the residence of Dr. E. Meek, 1110 West Capitol avenue, will be conducted at 4 this afternoon from Dr. Meek's residence. Mr. Smothers was born in Morrow County, O., February 14, 1837. He came to Little Rock in 1884. Mr. Smothers was one of the organisers of the American Building and Loan Association of Little Rock and the president of that organization at the time of his death. He came to Little Rock in 1884. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and other Masonic Bodies and the Quapaw Club. The only surviving members of his family are nephews and nieces living in Ohio. Sneed, Sue, Mrs. Sue Sneed, aged 36, wife of W C Sneed, died suddenly at 7 o'clock yesterday morning at their home. 1201 Summit avenue. Mrs. Sneed was born and reared in Searcy, but Wednesday moved to Little Rock with her husband and children. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Carl and Leon Sneed, and two daughters, Ruth and Mildred Sneed; also by two brothers, Flo Lewis of Galveston, Tex, and Dean Lewis of Dallas, Tex. Snyder, Ray Wilton, The body of Ray Wilton Snyder, aged 26, who died at noon Saturday at San Antonio, Texas, will arrive in Little Rock Wednesday morning for burial. Mr. Snyder was a native of Ohio, and a former resident of Little Rock. He was the owner and proprietor of an automobile repair shop in San Antionio. He is survived by his wife, who formerly was Miss Clara De Jarnett of Little Rock, a son, Wilton; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Sparks, Abbie, Fort Smith, March 16 - Mrs. Abbie R Sparks, aged 81, one of the oldest residents of the city, died at the home of her daughter; Mrs. James A Yantis, yesterday. She wsa born in Red Clay, Ga., in 1836. Her father was the Rev. E. Butler, who removed to Van Buren in the early days of Crawford county. Mrs. Sparks, widow of Capt. James H Sparks, lived in Fort Smith 50 years. Her husband commanded the Fort Smith Rifles, the first local company to enter the Confederate army in the war between the states. Mrs. Sparks leaves three grandchildren, Mrs. Harry P Warner and Marshall Yantis of this city; Sparks Yantis of Helena, and Montgomery Yantis, an attache of the American embassy in Turkey. 3/17/1917

Speer, Joseph H., Harrison, April 10 - Joseph H Speer, 83, the oldest resident of this county in point of years of residence, died at his home, one mile north of town, Thursday. He was a member of Joe Bishop's company of North Arkansas Confederate Volunteers, and was imprisoned in Rock Island prison in 1865, but was exchanged shortly before the close of the war. He is survived by seven sons and one daughter. The sons are: William A. of Harrison, Sylvester C. of Springfield, Mo., Joseph R. of Harrison, James Lee of Omaha, Ark., John Town of Rupert, Idaho. T.A. of Harrison, and Eugen Bennett of Harrison. The daughter is Mrs. Victoria E. Johnson of Harrison. 4/11/1915

Splittorf, Daughter, DeQueen, June 15 - The four year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Splittorf died this afternoon from injuries received Wednesday, when she was struck by an auto delivery car driven by Burl Reese, a local liveryman. Sporn, John, Blytheville, July 25 - John Sporn, white, aged 30, under arrest for bringing liquor into Arkansas, jumped out of a window of a moving train just south of Luxora today and struck his head against a cross-tie. His death was instantaneous. Sporn was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Majors at Burdette as he alighted from a train with several packages of whiskey. He was placed on the same train by Deputy Majors to be taken to Osceola. He was employed by a lumber company at Burdette and was unmarried

Sprick, Fred Finten, Fred Finten Sprick, 20, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. W.S. Trumpler, 200 Maple street yesterday morning. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Trumpler, and one brother, Henry J. Sprick, of 306 Sherman street. The cortege will leave the residence at 8:30 o'clock Friday morning and proceed to St. Edward's Germany Catholic church, Ninth and Sherman streets. Mass will be held at 9 o'clock. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. The pallbearers will be: Joe Fougerousse, Joseph Hanson, Peter Deuwe and Rudolph Finke. Mr. Sprick was an employe of the Little Rock Railway and Electric Company and returned from San Antonio, Tex., where he had been for his health only three weeks ago. 4/8/1915
