Mack Garrett

PIGGOTT -- Mack Garrett, 76, of Piggott passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, in Memphis.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Garrett; two sons, Danny Garrett and Perry Garrett; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Melba Joyce Hudson and Mary Gray; a brother, Charles E. Garrett; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Piggott Cemetery, with Richard Akins officiating. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today.

Samuel Leo Hazelwood

HORSESHOE BEND -- Samuel Leo Hazelwood, 79, of Horseshoe Bend died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem.

He was born in the Macy area near Monette. He was a retired staff sergeant from the Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rene Hazelwood; his parents, J.A. and Lilly Bell Hazlewood; three brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Alice Hazelwood of Horseshoe Bend; granddaughters and husbands, Lori and Ken May, Lake City, and Tamera and Chris Sheaffer of Sapulpa, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Natasha Swindle-May and Cassandra May, all of Lake City, Matt Simonton and Chandler, Seth and Ryle Sheaffer, all of Sapulpa; a sister and brother-in-law, Lou and Gordon Rumble of Cherokee Village; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday with full military honors and a military chaplain officiating, with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Della Lorraine Johnson

LEACHVILLE -- Della Lorraine Johnson, 94, of Leachville, the widow of Mr. V.W. "Pappy" Johnson, died Friday at Monette Manor Nursing Home.

Born at Marmaduke, she was the daughter of John and Jewel Ward Dortch and had been a Leachville resident since 1919. Mrs. Johnson first shared her musical talent by playing the piano at the movie theater in Leachville during the silent movie days and later as pianist of the Second Baptist Church, where she and her husband were longtime members.

She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Wylie Johnson Jr.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald "Butch" Johnson and wife Freddie of Paragould; her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and John Yuhas of Elizabethton, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Mike and Mark Cunningham, John Yuhas Jr. and Greg Johnson; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Howard Funeral Service in Leachville, with the Rev. Russell Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Angela Sue 'Angie' Kifer

JONESBORO -- Angela Sue "Angie" Kifer, 42, of Jonesboro, died Friday, Jan. 13, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

She was born and lived her lifetime in Jonesboro. She worked as a seamstress at Martin's Cleaners until 2003 and was a substitute teacher for the past two years. She was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Kifer of the home; two daughters, Jamie Kifer and Megan Kifer, both of Jonesboro; and a brother, Gilbert Chesser of Portia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Linda Sue Cagle.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday in the Azalea Room at Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro. No services are scheduled.

Margie Lowry

KNOB -- Margie Lowry of Knob died Jan. 14, 2006, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was born June 30, 1923, at Hardy. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving are three sons, Joe Lowry and wife Connie of Knob, Terry Lowry and wife Helen of Paragould and Larry Hueter and wife Frances of Leachville; two daughters, Beckey Stanfill and husband Winston of Paragould and Kathy Riggan and husband Blue of Corning; four brothers, H.A. Scott Jr. of Corbin, Ky., Billy Scott of St. Louis, Muray Scott of Taft, Calif., and Millard Scott of Greers Ferry; grandchildren, Chris Shourd, Amy Walker, Shanda Murray, Matthew Lowry, Greg Hueter and Kelli Harrel; and great-grandchildren Hannah Harrel, Dylan Walker and Alexis Murray.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Lowry; her parents, H.A. and Gladys Scott; and a sister, Willadene Scott.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ermert Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Noah's Ark or Children's Home of Paragould.

Randy Rakestraw

MANILA -- Randy Brooks Rakestraw, 45, of Manila died Friday at Great River Medical Center of Batesville.

Born at Blytheville, he was the son of the late William Rakestraw and had been a Manila resident most of his life. He had attended Arkansas Children's Colony in Conway.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Tammy DeSpain, in 1996.

Survivors include his mother, Eva Phillips Rakestraw of Manila; and a brother, Ron Rakestraw of Lake City.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Manila Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 10:30 a.m. until service time Monday.

Freida Lee Secoy Walsh

GARLAND, Texas -- Freida Lee Secoy Walsh, 89, of Garland, Texas, and formerly of Jonesboro, died Thursday evening at her residence in Garland.

She was born August 27, 1916, in Blytheville, the daughter of Pleas and Ruth Bohanning Secoy. She lived in Jonesboro and attended Arkansas State College before moving to Garland, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher. She was the first freshman queen of Arkansas State College. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Chapter A.J. at Jonesboro, a past member of the Junior Auxiliary, a Girl Scout leader and an avid golfer.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Kristen Walsh of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Ruth "Babe" Puryear of Jonesboro and Lorraine Hughes of Blytheville; and a niece, Jo Ruth Wright of San Diego.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Walsh; her parents; a sister, Lotus Rosskopt; and a brother, Bill Secoy.

Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Langford-Bookout Funeral Chapel in Jonesboro with visitation following. Dr. Bruce Tippit will officiate services. Graveside services will be private.

Bennett Ray Windham

MARKED TREE -- Ray Windham, 56, of Marked Tree died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Methodist Central in Memphis. He was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his father, Eldred Meeks.

Survivors include his mother, Virginia Meeks of Parkin; son, Bradley Windham of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; two daughters, Cheryl Ferguson of Marked Tree and Christy Shannon of Sardis, Tenn.; two sisters, Peggy Humphries and Mary Watson, both of Parkin; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree with Jess Hodges and Cecil Goacher officiating.

Helen Marie Wise

JONESBORO -- Helen Marie Smallmon Wise, 74, of Jonesboro died Friday, Jan. 13, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Bay, she lived most of her life in Northeast Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of North Main Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Wilson E. Rooker of Jonesboro, David and Steven Rooker, both of Mount Clemens, Mich., James Rooker of Temple, Ga., Samuel Muentener of Wales, Mich., and Timothy Muentener of Trumann; three daughters, Mary Blumberg and Tonya Wise, both of Jonesboro, and Deborah Black of Phoenix; one brother, Don Smallmon of Jonesboro; and two sisters, Berneita Einspanjer of Horn Lake, Miss., and Kathryn Nicholson of Memphis; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Arnold Wise; her parents, George A. and Ruby Jewel Richardson Smallmon; one son; and two siblings.

Family will have a private memorial service.

Zora Boyer

PARAGOULD -- Zora Boyer, 97, of Paragould died Saturday evening at her home.

She was the widow of James Earl Boyer.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
