Sherman Goodwin

Sherman J. "Pete" Goodwin, 73, passed away peacefully at his home, May 9 after a long and courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease). Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Rennie Goodwin; six children, Vicky, Donna, Suzy, Gary, Kevin, Terina and their families; along with 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, George Lee, Glen, Lewis and Charles and sisters, Mary Lou and Marilyn. Born in the Golden City community of Logan County, Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Marley Goodwin of Booneville, and three sisters, Olline, Alline and Gertrude. Pete was a veteran of the Air Force and the Army, and was stationed stateside, in Europe and in Korea. He saw duty in several conflicts Ð the Berlin Crisis, Bay of Pigs and also fought in Vietnam. He retired from the City of North Little Rock vehicle maintenance department and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping, hunting, boating and fishing, and leaves many happy memorials of wonderful trips with his family and friends. Rennie wishes to express her heartfelt thanks to all the relatives and friends for their prayers, loving support and caring help during Pete's extended illness, with special thanks going to Pete's neurologist, Dr. Charles Schultz of Jacksonville, for his medical and loving care for the past several years. The month of May is designated as the ALS Awareness Month and in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to the American Chapter of Muscular Dystrophy Association, 523 Louisiana, Suite 560, Little Rock, Ark. 72201. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Roller Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock. Burial will be at the Veteran's National cemetery in North Little Rock at 11 a.m.

Brigitte Campbell

Brigitte Barbara Campbell, 68, of Cabot, passed away May 10. She was born July 18, 1935, in Germersheim, Germany, to the late Johan Halbritter and Emilie Halbritter-Bolz.

Brigitte spent most of her life traveling extensively with her husband Charlie, which was a joy for them both.

Never meeting a stranger, she loved everyone that came in contact with her and even "adopted" many as her own child or grandchildren and attended First Freedom Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Campbell in 2002, and two sons, Johnny E. Campbell in 1975 and Clarence W. Campbell in 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Campbell Shaver and husband Chuck of Blacksburg, Va., and Charlotte A. Campbell of Cabot; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Ryan Shaver and Charles Jackson Shaver, both of Blacksburg, Va.; three brothers, Bend Bolz and wife Hieka and Hans Halbritter, Alex Bolz of Germany; one sister, Waltraud Haywood of Austin, Texas, as well as many very dear friends. There will be a private visitation and graveside service at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel cemetery in Cabot with Bro. Freddy Dulany officiating. Arrangements are by Thomas Funeral Home.

Judy Creel

Judy Mae Cox Creel, 75, of Judsonia, died May 10.

She was a housewife. She is survived by her husband, Bob Creel; three sons, David A. Cox of Martinsburg, W. Va., Larry R. Cox of Beebe, Michael W. Cox of McRae; two daughters, Connie E. Chambers and Lola Mae Mobley, both of Kensett; one brother, Joe Salmon of McRae; two sisters, Jetta Faye Johnson and Velma Randall, both of McRae; 18 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a husband, James Robert Cox; a son, Dennis Cox; a daughter, Mary Kay Wise and two grandsons. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Antioch cemetery, Beebe, by Westbrook Funeral Home.

Garland Goodwin

Garland E. Goodwin, 82, of Beebe, died May 7. He was born March 15, 1922, in Beebe, to the late James Luther and Lena Goodwin. Garland was retired from Timex Corporation after working for 38 years. He was a tool and die maker. He fought in World War II in Germany. He belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jacksonville, where he served in numerous capacities of church and religious service. He is most recently a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Searcy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mable Eldine Cole Goodwin. Survivors include three sons, Dan and wife Terry Goodwin of Jacksonville, Larry and wife Peggy Goodwin of Long Beach, Calif., and Mark Goodwin of Beebe; three daughters, Margaret and husband Ronald Lowery of Denver, Colo., Naomi and husband Dwight Blauer of Boise, Idaho, and Janice and husband Max Gandy of Gilbert, Ariz.; 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jacksonville. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Beebe.

Mary Blackwell

Mary Helen Blackwell, infant daughter of Jeffery and Janine Blackwell of Cabot, died May 8, 2004. She is survived by one brother, Samuel "Sam" Wayne Blackwell; grandparents Bobby and Mary Blackwell; grandparents Sam and Helen Trapanotto; puppies, Buck and Gus. Graveside services were conducted May 11 at Mt. Carmel cemetery in Cabot. Chaplin Wade officiated. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home. Marie Morgan Marie Percefull Lilly Morgan, 81, of Roland, died May 9.Ê She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Theron Morgan, three sons, Julian Lilly and wife Clara, Jeff Lilly and Sam Lilly; granddaughter, Julie Marie; five brothers and sister. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry and husband Dale Hoggard of Roland; grandchildren: Mike and Amy Hoggard, Kevin and Terri Hoggard, Jennifer and Donald White, all of Roland, and Robin and Mike Wilson of Maumelle; great-grandchildren: Lexie Hoggard, Conner and Blake White; step-children: Mary, Jim, Susie and Sally; brothers: Edwin Percefull of Little Rock, and Ronald Percefull of Tulsa; sister Bernice "Bea" Bennett of Carlisle. Graveside memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lonoke cemetery, Dr. Glen McGriff officiating. Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke. Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 904 Autumn Road; Little Rock, Ark. 72211.

Teresa Roberts
Teresa Michelle Roberts, 26, of El Paso passed away June 5. She was born May 11, 1978, to Roger and Joy Ross.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joy Faye Caldwell Ross, and her paternal grandparents, Gus and Jessie Ross, and sister, Candice Leann Parr.
Survivors include her loving husband, Robert Austin Roberts, and her two small sons, Bradlee Austin and Dakota Matthew Roberts of the home; her father; brother Joshua Frost and paternal grandparents, Williams and Edna Caldwell, all of Clarendon; father and mother-in-law, Joe C. and Linda Roberts of El Paso; one sister-in-law, April Wilkerson and husband Ray of Gould; two aunts, Brenda and Melba as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church with Interment to follow at Grissard cemetery in El Paso with Brother John Powers officiating.
Pallbearers will be Van, Alan, Jess, Wess, Marvin and John. The surrounding volunteer firefighters will act as honorary pallbearers. The family requests memorials in her memory be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Thomas Gates
Thomas William Gates, 73, of El Paso, died June 5, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gates, and four children. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Mt. Springs Baptist Church in Cabot.

Ruby Richey
Ruby Gaines Richey, 86, of Walnut Ridge, died Tuesday at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Portia to the late Ollie and Bulla Gaines.
She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church at Walnut Ridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Richey; two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Wilda Pulliam of Jacksonville; two sons, Larry Richey of Jacksonville, Don Richey of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Trail officiating. Burial will be at Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge.
Memorials may be made to First Freewill Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

Basil Southerland
Basil Laverl Southerland of Jacksonville was born on July 29, 1925. He was the son of the late Marion and Hazel Southerland.
He departed this earthly home on June 19 at 78 years of age. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy on the battleship Pennsylvania and a member of Pilgrim Nazarene Church of Cabot.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Freda Green Southerland. He is also survived by seven children, Phyllis Jeffcoat, Ronnie Southerland, Karen Smith, Edna Haley, Randy Southerland, Kevin Southerland and Lynn Southerland; two brothers, Leon Southerland and Ira Southerland; one sister, Janice Clark; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home in Jacksonville on June 22 with Revs. Mike Swearengin and Jerrell Smith officiating with Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Chris Haley, Tim Smith, Andy Southerland, Gary Southerland, Randy Robbins and Allen Bullock.
Honorary pallbearers were Garret Southerland and Barry Harris.
Arrangements were by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home.

Billy Beeler
Billy Wayne Beeler, owner and proprietor of Beeler Construction, passed from this Earth on June 19 at the age of 63. Preceding him in death were his parents, W.H. Beeler and Grace (Yeargain) Beeler, and three brothers, Azro, Dale and Glynn Beeler, all of Paragould.
He is survived by his wife and business partner, Carole Lynn (Wayland) Beeler. He is also survived by his three children: Telesa and husband Johnny Cook, of DeSoto, Mo., Tony and wife Tonya Beeler, and Angel and husband Jeff Cleveland all of Lonoke. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl Gene Beeler of Paragould and three sisters, Faye Dodson of Alton, Ill., Ruth Larrive of Powhattan, and Peggy Gordon of Paragould.
An avid fisherman, Bill Beeler was also a well known contractor and subcontractor of many homes and businesses in Lonoke and the surrounding areas during the 33 years he practiced his trade.
Local builders in the community today continue his work by utilizing the tools of the trade taught to them by Bill.
Services were held June 22 at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel in Lonoke with Interment in Brownsville cemetery.

Floyd Hogan
Floyd Lavern Hogan "Hogan, " 66, of Cabot, went to be with his Lord on June 17. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, in Cabot.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed Hogan and Helen Pruitt; brother, Vaughn Ray Hogan; step-sister, Margaret Hatton.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Hogan; daughter, Sandy Laverne Overton of Steele, Mo.; step-daughter; Pam and Garry Roberts of Sherwood; step-son, Rodney Brown of Little Rock; brothers, Carl and Sammie Hogan of Troy, Mo.; Dick and Barbara Hogan of Columbus, Ga.; Gary and Barbara Hogan of Texas City, Texas; Jim and Debbie Braden of Springfield, Mo.; sisters, Mary and Perry Camden of Oates, Mo.; Phyllis and husband Frankie Markem of Eldington, Mo.; Marcella and husband Jessie Miles of Clarkton, Mo.; granddaughter, Vickie Overton; four step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Craig Friedl officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Hill cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice. Funeral arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Edith Ivy
Edith Ivy, 88, of Beebe, died June 19. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by two sons, Bill Ivy and Dicous Ivy, both of Beebe; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Ivy and her son, Berry Ivy.
Graveside services were held Monday at Antioch cemetery.
Arrangements by Westbrook Funeral Home.

Jimmy Jones
Jimmy Loran Jones, 66, of Cabot, passed away June 20. He was a member of Briarwood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula Ingram and his father, Clarence Jones. He is survived by his wife, Valinda Jones; daughters, Lisa and Carrie Jones; sisters, Sharon and David Carpenter, and Gail Steward; two brothers, Bobby and Lil Jones, Freddie and Peggy Jones. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 23, at 10am at Briarwood Baptist Church with Brother Dave Reddick and Brother Harold O'Bryan officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel cemetery in Cabot.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Briarwood Baptist Church, 1872 Willie Ray Dr., Cabot, AR 72023. Funeral arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 700 N. Second St.

Nola mae Bone
Nola Mae Oaks Mitchum Elder Sherry Bone, 62, of Cabot, died May 7 after a long battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 13, 1941 to Homer L. and Wilma E. Oaks, both deceased, of Bigelow. She is survived by her husband, William Bone of Cabot, two sons, Kenneth White Jr. and his wife Linda of Conway and Paul White of East End, seven grandchildren, Sarah Ruckle and Amy Poye of North Little Rock, April Thompson of Beebe, Leon, Alvin and Brandon White of East End and Ron White of San Antonio, Texas.

Troy Perryman
Troy A. Perryman "Paw, " 84, went to be with the Lord June 20 at Baptist Health Medical Center.
He is preceded in death by his parents A.W. and Valentine "Moran" Perryman; a grandson, Alan Perryman; brother, James Perryman; sisters Orean Garner, Mary Powell, Flora Lopez and Bessie Carter. He is survived by his wife, Ella Mae (Cook) Perryman; sons Robert and wife Teresa, Troy L. and wife Cyndi and daughter Marilyn Horne; grandchildren, Terry, Tracy, Shari, Dana, Krissy and Daniel; step-grandson, Brian and wife Tracy; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Andy, Evan, Abby, Ashton and Hunter; sisters, Margaret Tenison, Nadine Howard, VetaMae Howard, Blossom Stanford, and many nieces and nephews.
He was a retired self-employed truck driver, a member of New Testament Missionary Baptist Church, Lonoke, and a 32nd degree Master Mason.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel in Lonoke.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Testament Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 1600 Lincoln, Lonoke, AR 72086.
