Herman Wallace Baker
Herman Wallace Baker, 77, of Beebe, died July 16. He was born October 31, 1923, in Searcy, a son of the late Blanch and Herman Baker.
He made his home in Beebe, where he was a Chevrolet dealer for 41 years. He served in the Army Air Corp in the South Pacific during World War II where he flew 60 combat missions and participated in the longest mission flown on a B24 Bomber. For this he received the Presidential Citation and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Wallace was an active member of his community, having served as a member of the Beebe City Council, board member and president of the Beebe School Board, president of Beebe Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club member, member of White County Hospital Board, 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, and board of Girls Industrial School.
He was also an active member of Beebe First United Methodist Church having served on the Board of Trustees, Administrative Board and Welfare Board.
Wallace is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Dobbins Baker; one son, Robert H. Baker, Sr., and his wife LaRae Welch Baker of Beebe; two daughters, Jeannie Baker Latture and her husband, John K. Latture, and Nancy Baker Getchell, all of Beebe; five grandchildren, Robert H. Baker, Jr., of Beebe, Marci Baker Cox of Nashville, Tenn., Terrance Latture Schlem of Dallas, Texas, John K. Latture, Jr., of Los Angeles, Calif., and Alexandra Getchell of Beebe; two great-grandchildren, Mattie Watson Cox and Carson Garrett Schlem; one sister, Catherine Dumas of North Little Rock.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Beebe First United Methodist Church with burial at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Beebe.

Roger Stigler
Roger Curtis "Papaw" Stigler, 83, of Beebe, died July 16. He was born August 10, 1917, at Harrisburg.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army; a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church; and a retired machine operator.
Survivors include one son, Gerald Stigler and his wife, Priscilla, of Beebe; one daughter, Sue Driver and her husband, Larry, of Tuttle, Okla.; one sister, Pat, of Heber Springs; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special family friend, Frank Brown.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Westbrook Chapel, with burial at Arkansas Veteran's Memorial cemetery, North Little Rock, by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.
Joe Weir
Joe B. Weir, 79, of Jacksonville, was born in White County on Sept. 11, 1921, and died at his home in Jacksonville on July 16.
Weir was a veteran of World War II; a retired insurance and real estate agent, and a member of Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Thurman and Mattie Harrison Weir and a brother, Ray Weir. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Melma Mash Weir; two brothers, James L. Weir of Houston, Texas, and Charles H. Weir of Searcy; one sister, Letrecia Bean of Fort Worth, Texas. He also leaves several adoring nieces and nephews, other loving family members and numerous close friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Chapel with burial at Weir cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home of Beebe.
Junior Olas Alford
Junior Olas Alford, 78, of McRae died April 5. The oldest of 10 children, he was born to Elmer ÒPeteÓ Olas Alford and Maggie Mae Jackson Alford on Sept. 19, 1925, in Des Arc.
Junior was a naval veteran of World War II, serving with distinction at Iwo Jima and throughout the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of the McRae Masonic Lodge and a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.
He was also the retired owner of the original AK Drive-In at McRae.
His wife of 57 years, Lavell Shannon Alford; his parents, Pete and Maggie Alford; three brothers, Charles Alford, Joe Merle Alford and Huston Alford, preceded him in death.
Four daughters and their families survive him; Patricia and Forest Blount of Garner, Phillis and Bill Wood of Searcy, Martha and Anthony Martin of Beebe, and Jaronda and John McEuen of McRae; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers, Harold and Marvin Alford of McRae; three sisters, Barbara Reed of Austin, Linda Failoni of Green River, Wyo., and Betty Bundy of Cabot and a host of friends and other family members.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Lebanon cemetery.
Deara Beard
Deara Robinson Beard, 93, of Beebe, died April 4. She was a housewife and a member of Mt. Arratt Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Oliver Jack and wife Marian Jackson of Little Rock and John Rycraw, Jr. of Beebe; three daughters, Bernice and husband Elreece Bradley of Beebe, Anita Robinson of Searcy, and Sally and husband Anthony Honeycutt of Little Rock; 22 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lois Carol DuPriest; parents Roy and Bessie Robinson, and one brother, Tally Underwood.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Arratt Baptist Church, with burial in Beebe cemetery.
Charles Rogers
Charles Earl Rogers, 84, passed from this earth to be with his Lord April 2.
He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served his country in China-Burma-India Theater during World War II.
He was a retired welder from Brandt Machine Works and worked for the City of Carlisle for 10 years.
He was a member of the Carlisle Fire Department for over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Eagle and Leanna Beatrice Rogers; a son, Charles Michael Rogers and a brother, Marion Rogers.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Darlene Rogers; a son, Kenneth Rogers of Carlisle, Kenneth's fiance, Gayla Baker of Stuttgart; his daughters, Donna Rogers of Little Rock; a brother, Lindy Rogers of Fort Smith; his sister, Louise Boyette of Carlisle; a daughter-in-law, Gwen Rogers of Conway; two granddaughters, Jennifer Wheeler of Cabot and Angela Brown of Morrilton and three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Grace Brown of Morrilton and Jacob Wheeler of Cabot.
He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Carlisle.
Visitation and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Ada Fiedler
Ada L. Fiedler, 80, born Dec. 21, 1923, to Virginia and William G. Fiedler in Ward, died April 3.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers, Cliff and Les Fiedler and one sister, Lodema Sherlock.
She is survived by sisters Eva L. Bouse and Victoria Reece, a number of nieces, nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.
Ada played basketball with the Hazel Walkers team.
She was employed for many years as an accountant for Briley's Produce and was also an employee of A.M.F. bicycle plant in Little Rock.

Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cabot Funeral Home.

Wayman Hankins
Wayman Hankins, 68, of Cabot, went on to be with the Lord April 5, after a short illness.
Retired from McMillan Bloedel, he loved riding his four wheeler with his dog, Cokey, and most importantly being with his grandkids and family.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, Freddie Hankins; three daughters, Cindy Weatherford, Tammie and husband Steve Dixon, Heather and husband Michael Pounders; two sons, Kipp and wife Angi Hankins, Johnny and wife Rhonda Hankins, all of Cabot; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He left behind two brothers, Carl Hankins of Cabot, Bill Hankins of England and one sister, Frankie Lee of England; and a great number of friends and relatives.
Wayman was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Louia Hankins of England; two sisters, Wanda Grover of Mandeville, La., and Evelyn Palmer of Pine Bluff and one granddaughter, Courtney Paige Dixon.
Visitation begins at noon Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, at Victory Baptist Church in Cabot, with burial in Sylvania cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Arkansas Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers.
Orville Strayhorn
Orville B. Strayhorn, 89, of Beebe, departed his earthly home on April 4 to be welcomed to his eternal home by his Lord and his precious wife, Bobb of 66 years, who preceded him in death on Feb. 7.
Orville was born in Beebe, on Jan. 19, 1915, and lived on the same street all of his life.
He was the son of Benjamin F. and Gertrude Strayhorn, both deceased.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Retha, his brother, Ervin, sister-in-law, Gen, a niece, Joann Strayhorn, an infant brother, Earl, and a grandson, Steve Strayhorn.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his four children, Kermit Strayhorn of Lonoke, Edwana Daniel (Royce) of Beebe, M. L. (Bud) Strayhorn (Gae) of Layton, Utah, and Jackie Tableriou (Mike) of Searcy; his seven grandchildren, Walt Daniel (Tina), David Daniel (Debra), Denise Coats (Steve), Trent Strayhorn (Leslie), Tori Gardner, Cindi Sargent and Troy Chase and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a very special niece, Linda Starr and her husband, Don and their son, Don, of Conway, and a host of cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, with graveside Masonic Rites at the Beebe cemetery.
Johnny Smith
Johnny C. Smith, 79, of Garner, died at home surrounded by family on April 5. He was born July 22, 1924, in Lockney, Texas.
He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 7769, DAV, and American Legion.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles D. Smith. He is survived by his wife Reva J. Smith of Garner, son James W. Smith and Mary Ann of Greenwood, Ind.; and four daughters, Sharon and Joe Taylor of Indianapolis, Ind., Deborah Kovalak of Cleveland, Ohio, Denise McDonald of Beebe, and Angelia Smith and Jeff Johnson of Garner; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Bill Smith of Campbellville, Ky. and one sister, June Slaughter of Arizona. Graveside service by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Arkansas Veteran's Memorial cemetery in North Little Rock.
