Joan Umfress Gregson

JONESBORO -- Mrs. Joan Umfress Gregson, 52, of Jonesboro died Saturday, Dec. 31, at NEA Medical Center.

Mrs. Gregson was born in Helena to J.C. and Dorothy Weiner Umfress on Jan. 28, 1953. She was a medical technologist, a member of the Nocturne Music Club and a board member of the Special Olympics.

She is survived by her husband, F.J. "Pete" Gregson of the home; two daughters, Christy Gregson King of Springdale and Rachael Gregson Suiter of North Platte, Neb.; her parents, J.C. and Dorothy Umfress of Helena; a brother, Jim Umfress of Memphis; and a sister, Dorothy Umfress Ethridge of Hayesville, N.C.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Langford-Bookout Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Bruce Tippit officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Langford-Bookout Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of Adult 6 of First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Jonesboro Public Library, 315 West Oak, Jonesboro 72401.

Robert Hall

RAVENDEN SPRINGS -- Robert Hall, 51, of Ravenden Springs died Monday, Jan. 2, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Benton Harbor, Mich., he lived in Florida prior to moving to Ravenden Springs. Mr. Hall was employed at Tweedy's Saw Mill in Pocahontas. He served in the Air Force.

Survivors include his parents, Joe and Jeraldine Blanshan Hall; two brothers, Leland Hall of Portland, Ore., and James Hall of Ravenden Springs; and a sister, Sharon Eskew of Corning.

No services are planned.

Alice Marie Hay

SEDALIA, Mo. -- Alice Marie Hay, 61, of Sedalia, formerly of Minturn, died Sunday, Jan. 1, in Sedalia.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by a son, Robert Hall of Cole Camp, Mo.; two sisters, Ruth Neal of Macks Creek, Mo., and Lola Freer of Walnut Ridge; a brother, Jimmy Hay of McClouth, Kan.; and a grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Strangers Home Cemetery with Brother Harold Russell officiating.

Visitation will be from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge is in charge of arrangements.

Virgil Ray Hopkins

TRUMANN -- Virgil Ray Hopkins, 59, of Trumann died Sunday at Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born in Trumann and was a lifelong resident. He was a maintenance supervisor for the Trumann Housing Authority and a member of First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Passmore, and his parents, Harry Earl "Pete" and Claudia Odell Shoopman Hopkins.

Survivors include his wife, Andrea Kelso Hopkins of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Amanda Hopkins of Trumann; and one sister, Patsy Branum of Trumann.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Trumann, with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne Kelso, Jerry Kelso, Gary Kelso, Finis Kelso, Mike Kelso and Keith Kelso.

Honorary pallbearers will include employees of the Trumann Housing Authority.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials made be made to First Baptist Church in Trumann or the Jonesboro Humane Society.

Gregory Lewis Ireland

NEWPORT -- Gregory Lewis Ireland, 41, of Newport died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006. He was born Sept. 20, 1964, in Newport.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ireland.

He is survived by a son, Derric Wayne Ireland of Newport; a daughter, Jasmine Clark of Augusta; his mother, Joyce London Ireland Mauldin, and step-father of Newport; four nieces, Misty Clark, Soumer Clark, Brittany Clark and Tiffany DeWhitt; and a nephew, Cody DeWhitt.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight, followed by private services under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Charlie Jones

PIGGOTT -- Charlie Jones, 68, of Piggott, died Jan. 2.

Jones worked for Crocket Oil for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Cerella Trantham Jones, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Kevin Jones, Kellie McPherson and Diane Winchester; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott with Kevin Murray officiating. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home will be in charge.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the church.

Audrey Emagean Langston

JONESBORO -- Audrey Emagean Langston, 91, of Jonesboro died Monday, Jan. 1, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Magness, she was a homemaker and a member of Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Agnes Davis of Newport, Dorothy Smith of Trumann, Faye Benson of Harrisburg and Betty Garner and Joann Richmond, both of Jonesboro; 10 sons, Marvin Langston of Cherokee Village, Terry Langston of Bono, Harold Langston of Walnut Ridge and Bill Langston, Ervin Langston, David Langston, Johnny Langston, Jimmy Langston, Phillip Langston and Douglas Langston, all of Jonesboro; 37 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Langston; her parents, Jim and Mandy Ward Bevans; a daughter, Rebecca Richey; a grandson, Kelly Benson; and a great-grandson, Matthew Wrinkles.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stone Street Assembly of God, with Jim Richmond and Bobby Russell officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Sulphur Rock Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Alice Lee Lyle

SWIFTON -- Miss Alice Lee Lyle, 99, of Swifton died Monday, Jan. 2.

She was born Oct. 3, 1906, in Stone County.

She is survived by two nieces, Katherine Lyle Harbison and husband Charles Harbison of Swifton and Shirley Lyle Hitt and husband James Hitt of Swifton; one nephew, James W. Lyle and wife Charlotte Lyle of Swifton; and her sister-in-law, Ann Lyle of Swifton.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Abiding Faith Church in Swifton. Interment will be in Stranger's Home Cemetery. Visitation: today, 6-8 p.m.

Arrangements: Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Elvis A. Moore

BONO -- Elvis A. Moore, 81, of Bono died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Erlene Songer Moore of the home; two sons, David Moore of Bono and Paul Moore of Walnut Ridge; two daughters, Dian Clark of Lake City and Paula Roseberry of Booneville, Miss.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Higginbotham Chapel in Walnut Ridge, with the Rev. Danny Murphy and Brother Van Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Lorado Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
