David Lee Portman
David Lee Portman, age 75, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 15, 2005. Born in Woodburn, Indiana, on September 30, 1930, he was the son of Ruth (Price) Portman and the late Ralph Portman.
Mr. Portman was a 1948 graduate of the Woodburn High School. He graduated in Mechanical Technology from Purdue Technical Institute in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in June of 1950. In 1951 he was drafted into the United States Army and served eleven months in Korea (May 30, 1952 - May 6, 1953) as a Sergeant E-5. Mr. Portman graduated from Purdue University with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1957. He was a partner with Industry General Corporation in Memphis from 1972 until his retirement to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas in 1996. He was a professional engineer and was registered in approximately thirty states.
Mr. Portman is survived by his wife, Kay Andries (Holterman) Portman of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; two sons, James David Portman and Erik Portman of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; one daughter Marcella Van Camp of Sarasota, Florida; his mother, Ruth Portman of Payne, Ohio; one brother, Stanley Joseph Portman of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; one sister Lois Evelyn Windemuth of Louisville, Ohio; one granddaughter, Marie Van Camp; two nieces and two nephews.
Mr. Portman is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
A visitation will be held Saturday, December 17, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the family home at 149 Wilshire Dive in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
John Pressley Hallman
John Pressley Hallman, II, age 76, of Shirley, passed away December 21, 2005. He was born January 28, 1929 in South Carolina, the son of John Pressley Hallman, Jr. and Alice O'Neal Hallman. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech, Atlanta Law School, and Fork Union Military Academy in Fort Union, VA. He served for twelve years in the military, six of which were spent active in the Korean War and the other six the National Guard. He was a large commercial construction contractor, flew for the State of Arkansas and was a Catastrophic Insurance Adjustor. He loved to fly and had a passion for Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Mr. Hallman was a member of Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, TX. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.
Preceded in death by his son, John Pressley Hallman, III in 1994, his parents, and a brother, Ishmael Hallman; he leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Donna Hallman of the home; his children Terry Hardage and his wife LaDayne of Noble, OK, and Traci Detwiler of Piqua, Kansas; his grandchildren Audry Mason, Aliah Detwiler, Caleb Hardage, Joshua Hardage, Abigail Hardage and Emma Hardage; and a sister Lorraine Blackwell and her husband Earl of Inman, SC, and his nieces and nephews.

Stella K. Kallenbach
Date of Death: Monday January 02, 2006
Stella was born on November 08, 1912 in Wheeler, Wisconsin. Her parents were Knute and Sara Kathern who lived on a farm outside of Wheeler, Wisconsin. She is survived by one sister Mabel who lives in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and three children. Kathy Winget who resides in Seattle, Washington, Marlie Ranslam who lives in Portland, Oregon and Jay Kallenbach of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas.
She was trained as a teacher and worked in a one room country school before she married
Dad. She later worked at Sacred Heart Hospital until her retirement.
Mother has three children, six grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren. We have nothing but memories of love for our mother.
Mom's legacy to us is of great wealth of compassion and love for our family and other people we meet in our life's journey. To share and assist our fellow beings in their time of need. To have gratitude for what we have which has been so freely given by our God.
Funeral service will be at Peace Lutheran Church in Edgemont, AR on January 14, 2006 at 10:30 AM.
Alfred C. Henning
Alfred C. Henning, 91, of Burlington, Iowa, formerly of Bettendorf and Fairfield Bay, Ark., died Saturday, December 31, 2005, at Bickford Cottage, Burlington. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, 2620 Mt. Pleasant St., Burlington; the family will not be present. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 5, at SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington, Iowa. Rev. William Wiegand will be the celebrant. Interment will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Calvary cemetery, Davenport. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice. Born May 3, 1914, in Galena, IL., he was the son of Alfred Klaus and Anna Marie (Stieger) Henning. In 1951, he married
Dorothy Nolan in Rock Island. She died in 1961. He later married
Encel Breese in 1968 in Moline. She died in 1991. He was a 1932 graduate of Galena High School and a 1936 graduate of the University of Illinois, with a degree in business administration. Mr. Henning worked for Alcoa Aluminum as a supervisor for 28 years, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington, Iowa. He was a World War II Army Corps veteran with the rank of Colonel. He also was a member of the Elks in the Quad Cities, Lions in Fairfield Bay, and active Air Force Reserve Unit in Moline. He also was active in the Boy Scouts, enjoyed fishing and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include five sons: R. Craig Breese, of Lake Bluff, IL.; David Henning, of Coralville, Iowa; Stephen Henning, of West Burlington; Larry Henning, of North Liberty, Iowa; and Tom Henning, of Enola, Ark; and five grandchildren.
His wives, parents, brother, Donald, and sister, Katherine Feldman, preceded him in death.
Fredda Clark
Fredda Clark of Shirley, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2006. She was born on May 16, 1928 to Mike and Sophie Kufas in Superior, Wyoming. She graduated from Superior High in 1946 and moved to San Francisco, working for the Navy Civil Service. She met and married
Tom Clark on February 3, 1951. They shared their life doing military towns in Hawaii and Taiwan. She has 2 daughters: Deborah Ward of San Dimas, CA and husband Donald, and Michelle Bruce of Conway, Arkansas and husband Othel. She left behind 1 grandson, Corbin and 3 granddaughters Jessica, Katie and Elizabeth and 2 great grandchildren Carson and Lillan. They were her cherished family.
She was 1 of 14 children growing up in Superior, Wyoming. She is survived by 2 sisters, Helen Mecca and Irene Otto.
The funeral was held at the United Methodist Church in Fairfield Bay on Saturday January 28, 2006. Burial was at Bradford cemetery. Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church of Fairfield Bay, Fairfield Bay Rescue and Bradford cemetery.
Gary E. (Carp) Carpenter
Gary E. Carpenter, 57, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, formerly of West Bend, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, January 27, 2006.
Born February 26, 1948, in Hartford, Wisconsin, he was the son of James and Aurla Carpenter. On April 26, 1969 he married
his friend and high school sweetheart GeorgiAnna Dobraff in Hartford, Wisconsin.
Survivors include his wife, GeorgiAnna; a son, Tyler J. Carpenter (Carole) of Thomaston, Georgia, and a daughter Monica L. Gorgas (Brian) of San Marcos, California; a brother, Billie L. Carpenter of West Bend, Wisconsin. Other survivors include dear friends and relatives.
He was a Vietnam Veteran who served as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class in the United States Navy. He received the Bronze Star Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal for his services.
Gary was employed at the Washington County Sheriff's Department in West Bend, Wisconsin for 28 years. He loved his job and reached the rank of detective before retiring in 1998. Subsequently, he joined American Family Insurance as a fire investigator.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, riding his Harley and was a member of the Woodcarvers of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas.
Viewing will be from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M., with a Church Service to follow, at Peace Lutheran Church in Edgemont, Arkansas, on Tuesday, January 31, 2008.
David Roger Come
David Come passed away in Grand Saline, TX at the age of 60 on February 4, 2006. He was born on July 16, 1945 to Albert & Gladys Mae Mickle Come in Rome, New York. He moved from Rome, New York to Florida in 1964. There he retired from Lakeland Power in Lakeland, FL. He moved to Fairfield Bay, AR last June.
He is preceded in death by, daughter Amy Lynn Bunch, a sister, Linda, and a brother, Norman. He is survived by: wife, Susan Come of Fairfield Bay, AR; 2 sons: David Roger Come, Jr. of Auburndale, FL. & Albert Franklin 'Bubba' Come of Lake Wales, Fl.; a daughter & son-in-law: Lisa & James Rousey of Haines City, FL.; 3 grandchildren; 4 brothers: Richard, Donny, Bobby & Frank Come; and a sister, Ester.
Memorial service is at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, TX. Officiating is Rev. Dan Tarno. Services directed by Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Jane S. King
Jane S. King was born on August 19, 1925, in Oklahoma City, OK, and departed this life on Thursday, February 16, 2006, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 80.
Jane, the daughter of James Arthur and Mildred (Cogswell) Stratton, was a resident of Tulsa. She married
Clifford E. (Jess) King on February 18, 1955, in El Reno, OK. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1998. Jane was a retired mobile home park owner and a homemaker. She was of the Presbyterian faith. Her parents and one brother also preceded Jane in death.
Survivors include: Sons, Bradley J. King of Broken Arrow, and Larry King of Tulsa. Sister: Vela Bolz of Chandler, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20, 2006 at 2:30 P.M., at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler with Rev. Doyle Seeley officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Park cemetery in Chandler. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
Mary Frances Hietbrink
Mary Frances Hietbrink was the oldest of four children born to Zene L. and Ethel Ardary in Oakdale, TN on October 17, 1928. She lived there until her graduation from High School. She then completed a two-year college associate degree at Tennessee Wesleyan College and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Health Science at Tennessee Polytechnic Institute.
Mary Frances pursued her interest in education as a High School teacher in Wartburg, TN for a relatively short time before joining the American Red Cross as a recreational worker at the Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama. While there, she met Lt. Earl H. Hietbrink. They were married
on December 27, 1952. This was the beginning of 53 years of happily married
life together.
Following active duty in the USAF, Earl pursued a career with General Motors in Indiana and Michigan. Mary Frances returned to part-time teaching while being a mother to their three children. During this time she also completed her Master's Degree in Special Education, and began working as a long-term substitute teacher for students with cognitive and physical disabilities.
Mary Frances was always an active member in her church and community. She enjoyed being involved with Sunday school, vacation Bible school, youth groups, adult activity and service groups. Her ability to organize and willingness to serve was always appreciated. She was a very creative person and enjoyed many hobbies including arts and crafts, sewing, reading, travel, cultural events and participation in athletic activities.
Mary Frances was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who always thought of others before herself. She maintained many friendships from childhood to retirement and expressed her best wishes for love and peace to all.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bill. She is survived by her husband, Earl; son, Tom; daughters, Kathryn and Ann; son-in-law, Dave; brother, Zane; sister, Nancy; sister-in-law, Joanne; 4 grandchildren, Bennett, Ashley, Bailey and John Tyler; and 5 nieces and 6 nephews.
A memorial service was held Saturday, February 25, 2006, at 2:00 P.M., at Peace Lutheran Church in Edgemont, Arkansas. The service was conducted by Rev. Susan F. Flemr and Rev. Dr. Robert Hadley. The family requested that memorials be made to Peace Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
Nina Marie Robinson
Nina Marie Robinson, 76, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Monday, February 20, 2006, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Missouri, on November 25, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Gladys (Freeland) Sample.
A former resident of Farmington, Missouri, Mrs. Robinson had lived in Fairfield Bay since 1985. She was a homemaker and a mother. Mrs. Robinson was a member of the V.F.W. Color Guard in Fairfield Bay, Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W., Garden Club, and Red Hat Society. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fredericktown, Missouri. Her husband, Raymond H. Robinson, preceded her in death on November 20, 2002. Mrs. Robinson was also preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Terry Joseph, and one brother, Bill Sample.
Survivors include: three daughters, Delmyra Montgomery of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Renee Cooper of Park Hill, Missouri, and Kimberly Phipps of Fredericktown, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Karen Henson of Farmington, Missouri; six stepsons, Tim Robinson of Dale City, Virginia, Houston Robinson of California, Ron Robinson of Pennsylvania, Mike Kinsey of California, Mark Kinsey of Pennsylvania, and Lee Kinsey of California; three sisters, Jennie Ramey of Marietta, Georgia, Linda Rodenburg of Gold Canyon, Arizona, and Sharon Thurman of Casa Grande, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Chandra Crocopio, Bethany Montgomery, Michael Smith, Jr., Amy Tinnin, Ashley Henson, John Robinson, Michael Varosi, and Cole Robinson; and one great-grandchild, Connor Tinnin.
Mrs. Robinson is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Visitation will be held at the Olmstead Woodland Chapel on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 12:00 noon with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Van Harness. Graveside services and interment will be held Friday, Feb.24, at 3:00 p.m. in the Christian cemetery at Fredericktown, Missouri. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
Harvey O. Thompson
Harvey O. Thompson, Sr, 84, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, died Wednesday March 8, 2006, at the home of his son in Robins, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Toeterville, Iowa, where friends may call after 10:00 am until service time. Turner West Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements. Burial: Toeterville cemetery, Toeterville, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Miller Thompson; a son, Harvey O. Thompson Jr, 'Skip' and wife Kathy; a daughter, Cindy Thompson Kroenke and husband Brent; grandchildren, Harvey O. Thompson III 'Tory' (Tiffany), Tiffany Thompson Pelley (Jeff), Tierany Thompson Virchow (Lee), Zachary Kroenke and Erin Kroenke; great grandchildren, Mickala Pelley and Teeghan Thompson; a sister, Marion Thompson Bless and husband, Howard; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O.H. and Ida Thompson; a brother, M. Dean Thompson and wife Delores; and a sister, Helen Thompson Bless and husband, Darold.
Harvey's early years were spent farming in Worth County and operating the London Lumber Company in Minnesota with his father. He attended St. Olaf College and Hamilton's Business College. He went on to organize and manage credit unions in Cedar Rapids and throughout Iowa. He retired in 1980 to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, where he was active in community affairs. His hobby of woodworking became a business, traveling the country attending craft shows. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in the Bay and he taught Sunday School for over 40 years in various Lutheran churches.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Christine Harlander, Mickie Racer and the staff of Mercy Hospice for the loving care they gave Harvey.

Margaret Leins
Margaret Leins of Fairfield Bay, AR died Friday, March 10, 2006 at the Ozark Health Nursing center in Clinton, AR. She was born in Chicago, IL Oct. 6, 1911. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son.
She was employed many years by Alexander Lumber Co. in Aurora, IL. After moving to Fairfield Bay, AR in 1983 she was a volunteer at the Library, loved to play bridge and was a long time member of the Xi Gamma Zeta Chapter Beta Sigma Phi.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ozark Health Nursing Center, Clinton, AR or of the donors choice.
Vivian Lynd Marshall
Vivian Lynd Marshall was born (November 25, 1920) and raised on a ranch near Ogallah, Kansas. She passed away March 12, 2006, in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. She graduated from Ellis High School in Ellis, Kansas, in 1938. Vivian received her Bachelor's Degree from Saint Mary College in Leavenworth, Kansas, and her Master's Degree from Emporia State Teacher's College. She was a teacher and a counselor. Other than six years teaching at the American Independent School in Ansbach, Germany, and at Neosho Rapids High School, near Emporia, Kansas, Vivian's entire educational career was spent with the 501 Unified School District in Topeka, Kansas. She taught or counseled at Topeka High School, Highland Park Junior High, Capper Junior High, Crane Junior High and retired in 1985 from her position as counselor at French Middle School.
While in Topeka, Vivian was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and of numerous professional organizations. In 2001 Vivian relocated to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, where she was a resident of Indian Rock Village and a member of the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-five years, Fred Marshall of Topeka, Kansas; one son, Richard D. Marshall of Tucson, Arizona; her parents, Miles M. and Donna Lynd of Smith Center, Kansas; a sister, Genevive Lynd and two brothers, Miles and James Lynd.
Vivian is survived by her husband, Donald W. Zimmerman of Fairfield Bay; one daughter, Dawna Marshall Parker (Richard) of Fairfield Bay; a son, Kevin Marshall (Ann) of Woodland Hills, California; a step-son, Peter Zimmerman (Marilyn) of St. Louis, Missouri; three step-daughters: Cathy Hardison (Ric) of Mahomet, Illinois; Loisann Arnold (Robert) of Northville, Michigan; and Julia Probasco (Tom) of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren, one great-granchild, numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Vivian Marshall will be held March 15, 2006, at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, and March 18, 2006, at Penwel-Gabel Midtown Chapel, Topeka, Kansas. Internment will be at Mt. Hope cemetery, Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N.
