Walter Nelson Anderson
Walter Nelson Anderson, age 72, of Alexandria, Minn. passed away on Tuesday, May 11 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Alexandria.
Wife, Phyllis Anderson, of Alexandria and brother, Paul Anderson, of Fairfield Bay, Ark. survive Walter.
There will be private family services. Memorials are preferred to North House Folk School of Grand Marais, Minn. or donor's choice of children's agencies.

Norma C. Crook
Norma C. Crook, 77, of Fairfield Bay passed away May 8. She was born in Pine Grove, W. Va. on January 18, 1927 to the late Chad & Opal Dunbar, she was a homemaker. Survivors include husband Hugh Crook of the home, two sons, one daughter, one sister, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 22 at 1:30 p.m. at Roller McNutt Chapel. Arrangements being handled by Roller-McNutt of Clinton (501) 745-2151.
Silsby Bosley
"Sib" was born and raised in Kirkwood, Missouri to Allen Ellis and Suzanne Silsby Bosley on December 15, 1920.
He was a first lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps where he served as a P-38 Lightning pilot in the 35th Photo "Red Hawk" Reconnaissance Squadron, he flew 65 combat/recon missions and received numerous awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievements while participating in aerial flight in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations between 1944 and 1945.
"Sib" attended Drury college before the war, and graduated from the University of missouri in 1948. After graduation, he and his bride, Gwendolyn fletcher Bosley, settled in the Kansas city area. "Sib" was a State Farm Insurance agent for the next 32 years in Overland Park, Kansas.
Upon retirement, they moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. "Sib" was a member of the Presbyterian Kirk of the Hills Church. He was actively involved in the Fairfield Bay Shrine Club, the Scimitar Temple. He was also actively involved in the Lake Area Fun Flyers Squadron of Fairfield Bay, the Lions club, the Sam Williams Masonic Lodge #69 and the Fairfield Bay Audubon Society. He was an elder at the Overland Park Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, Kansas.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 17th at 3:30 p.m. in the Presbyterian Kirk of the Hills with rev. Robert Hadley officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Kirk of the Hills or the Fairfield Bay Shrine Transportation club. arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
"Sib" leaves behind a loving wife of 56 years, Gwendolyn Fletcher Bosley of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and three devoted children, James S. Bosley Jr. of Bucyrus, Kansas, Mrs. Lyn Feuerbacher of Chesterfield, Missouri and Mrs. Kim Schlecht of San Antonio, Texas and six grand children, Katie and Ryan Schlecht, Laura and Kris Feuerbacher and Meredith and Brent Bosley.

Armina Golden Ranton
Armina Golden Ranton, 98, of Fairfield Bay passed away July 24. Ms. Ranton moved to Fairfield Bay this year to be near her nephew John Gehbauer and his wife Rhonda Doty. Raised near Dallas, Texas, Ms. Ranton made her working career as a secretary and assistant to the superintendent in charge of the Dallas (Texas) Independent School District's system-wide maintenance department. She was buried in Dallas beside her husband Grover V. Ranton.
Ambrose C. "Buzz" Moran
Ambrose C. "Buzz" Moran, Jr., 77 of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas (formerly of Decatur) died Wednesday (May 28, 2003) in Arkansas. Memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, June 2, 2003 at St. John's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Memorials may be made to Fairfield Bay Library, P.O. Box 1183, Fairfield Bay, AR 72088. Colleen Noonan in Decatur, IL in 1948. She preceded him in death in 1964. Mr. Moran then married
Louise (Ferguson) Coffey in 1970 in Edina, MN. He was the former office manager of J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home until 1967. He then was employed by Wagner Castings Co. until retiring in 1982. He then moved to Fairfield Bay, AR. He was a former member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Decatur, currently was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Heber Springs, AR. Surviving are his wife, Louise; two sons, Kevin and wife Diane Moran of Decatur, IL, Kevin and wife Sonia Coffey of Sterling, VA; two daughters, Connie and husband Tony Lorenz of Petersburg, IL., Lisa and husband Glen Whitcomb of Sacramento, CA.; one sister, Glorianne Moran of Decatur, IL.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Survived by his children Brandon and Brittnae Barloon of Eldon, MO, his parents, 2 brothers David Barloon of Mason City, IA and Jeff Barloon of Forest City, IA, his sister Brenda Smith of Fairfield Bay, AR and 4 nephews.Memorial services were held on Monday, June 9, 2003 in Jefferson City, MO.
Paul Eugene Webb, Sr.
Mr. Paul Eugene Webb, Sr., 82 of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas formerly of Tuckerman died Thursday, May 29, 2003 in Clinton. He was born June 27, 1920 in Tuckerman, the son of John and Lou Effie (Holloway) Webb. Mr. Webb was a retired electrician from Victor Metal Corporation. He was an active minister and a member of the Faith Christian Church of Edgemont. Mr. Webb enjoyed taking care of his son, Paul Eugene Webb, Jr. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Minnie Eva Webb and one sister Tressie Mae. Mr. Webb is survived by his wife, Lee (Tower) Webb of Fairfield Bay; on son Paul Eugene Webb, Jr., of Sills Peninsula, Clinton, Arkansas; foster children, Phil and Ginny Musgrove of Conway and Sam and Loraine Stone of Fairfield Bay; one brother Rev. Leman Webb of Little Rock; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Interment was at Gracelawn cemetery in Tuckerman, AR Saturday, June 7th. A memorial will be held June 28th, 10 a.m. at Shilow Pavillion on Greers Ferry Lake. Rev. Bill Khalan officiating.
John Houston Fagan
A celebration for the life of John Houston Fagan was held May 31, 2003 in Peace Lutheran Church, Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. John was born in Lake Charles, LA on January 16, 1925 to Otho and Bessie (Tyrone) Fagan, and passed away in Port Gibson, Mississippi on May 26, 2003. John served in the U. S. Navy as a Naval Air Cadet and CASU member during World War II. He attended The College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio. John married
Ruth L. Anderson on May 2, 1948. He worked in sales for International Harvester Corp. and Mack Truck in Ottumwa, Iowa, Kennewick Washington, and Portland, Oregon. He also owned an automobile dealership in Ottumwa, Iowa. He owned a trucking firm in Portland for eight years in prior to his retirement in 1992. John loved to hunt, fish, play golf, and read. He was an active member of Lutheran congregations throughout his life, and took immense pleasure in his family. His wife survives him, as do his three children, Dr. John David Fagan of Port Gibson, Miss., Mary Fagan of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, and Shirley Roggen of Portland, Oregon.Five grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survived him. His daughter Janet Lynne preceded him in death. Memorials are requested to go to Peace Lutheran Church, 10849 Edgemont Road, Box 52, Edgemont, AR 72044.Interment is planned for Tuesday, July 8, 2003 in Willamette National cemetery at 2 p.m., followed by a reception at 4 p.m. at the home of Shirley and Dennis Roggen. Cecilia D. Mazzanti
Cecilia D. Mazzanti of Lake Village died Monday, July 7, 2003, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Clinton. She was a homemaker and communicant of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. She was born May 1, 1914, in Arcola, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Vincent Doci and Adele Mancini Dolci. her husband Robert preceded her in death. Survivors are 2 sons, Robert Mazzanti Jr. of Lake Village and Steve Mazzanti of Athens, Texas; 2 daughters, Barbara Myers of Carterville, Georgia and Mary Ann Tubbs of Fairfield Bay; 3 brothers, Pete Dolci and Paul Dolci, both of Los Angeles, California and Francis Dolci of Orlando, Florida; a sister, Elizabeth Legions of Bakersville, Florida, 12 gradchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Rosary was at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Bishop Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2003 at our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Theophilus Okpara as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetery under the direction of Bishop Funeral home of Lake Village.
Roger E. Grangaard
Roger E. Grangaard, 80 of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas departed this life July 08, 2003 in Little Rock. Born March 16, 1923 in Foreman, North Dakota, the son of the late Ingvald Grangaard and Kathinka Ballestad Grangaard. He was also preceded by two brothers and a sister. Roger was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II, a retired business agent in the construction industry, member of VFW Post #4513, the First United Methodist Church of Fairfield Bay, and a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of the home Beulah Miller Grangaard, a daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Larry Smith of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, also a brother and sister-in-law, George and Elizabeth Grangaard of Winona, Minn. and one granddaughter, Erin Smith. A memorial service was held Monday, July 14, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Fairfield Bay with Bonda Moyer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Fairfield Bay. Arrangements being handled by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton.
Daniel James Hennessey
Mr. Daniel James Hennessey of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Monday, July 7, 2003, at St. Anthony Medical Center in St. Louis. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, on March 19, 1916, Mr. Hennessey was 87 years of age. He was the son of the late Daniel James and Mary (Dougherty) Hennessey.
Mr. Hennessey was a retired auditor with the Defense Contract Audit Agency of the United States government. He and his wife moved to Fairfield Bay in 1975 and made their home there for many years. Mr. Hennessey was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1981 for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Little Rock. He served at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Bay.
Survivors include his wife, Frances (Heim) Hennessey of St. Louis, Missouri; one son, Deacon Daniel J. Hennessey of Little Rock, Arkansas; two daughters, Carolyn Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri and Mary Charles of Glendora, California nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Mr. Hennessey is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
A rosary was held Wednesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Deacon Frank Zanoff officiating. Funeral mass was held Thursday, July 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with celebrant Bishop J. Peter Sartain. Interment was at Woodland Memorial Park at Edgemont. A luncheon followed at the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 10411 W. Markham, Little Rock, AR 72205. Robert Garner
Robert "Bob" Garner passed away Sunday, July 13, 2003 at his home in Tallahassee, Florida after a two year battle with leukemia. A resident of Clinton from 1981 until 2000, he was owner and proprietor of Mt. View Ranch. Mr Garner was also responsible for chartering and serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of First aNational Bank which opened in 1985. After retiring from the bank in 1993 and selling to Union Planters, Mr. Garner built and operated the Super 8 Motel from 1996 until its sale in 1999. The Garners moved to Florida in 2000 to be near their children and grandchildren. Mr. Garner is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elinor, two sons, Robert Gregory and G. Robert III and four grandsons; Rick, Robbie, Matthew and Michael. Mr. Garner was cremated and a memorial service was held at the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Fairfield Bay on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial service will be held at the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Fairfield Bay on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Boulevard, Tallahassee, Florida 32308 or to the charity of your choice.
Floyd E. Overbey
Mr. Floyd E. Overbey, a resident of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, since 1978, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 13, 2003. Born in Belle Rive, Illinois, on March 18, 1930, Mr. Overbey was 73 years of age. He was the son of the late Charlie E. and Lena (Foster) Overbey.On March 18, 1949, he married
the former Mary L. Helverson in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Overbey retired from the United States Air Force with twenty years of service followed by ten years in the Air Force Reserves. For ten years, he was a crew member of the United States Air Force B52 bombers. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force Gunners Association and a life member of the Fairfield Bay VFW. After retiring from the United States Air Force, Mr. Overbey maintained the security systems for the United States Postal Service in Memphis and Shelby County, Tennessee, and also in the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Mr. Overbey and his wife came to Fairfield Bay in March of 1978. He served as a Fairfield Bay Volunteer Fireman for 13 years. He and his wife Mary are members of the St. Francis Episcopal Church of Heber Springs. Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Overbey of Fairfield Bay, AR three daughters, Barbara Wagner and her husband, Tom, of Fairfield Bay, ARKaren McTavish and her husband, David, of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania and Debra Lynn Higdon and her husband, Randy, of Memphis, Tennessee one brother, Charles Overbey of Benton, Illinois one sister, Nellie Payne of Belle Rive, Illinois eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Overbey is also survived by other relatives and his many friends. Visitation was held Wednesday, July 16, at Olmstead Woodland Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. in the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church with The Rev. R. Ewing (Andy) Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park with military honors. Pallbearers will be Randy Higdon, Dallas Higdon, William Higdon, David McTavish, and Tom Wagner. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel McTavish, V.F.W. members, and the Fairfield Bay Fire Department. Grannis Otis
February 24, 1913 - July 16, 2003, born in Wolcotville, Indiana. Married to Alberta M. Grannis for 59 years. Three children, Sara (Sally) Rivers, Charles (Butch) Grannis, Rebecca (Becky) Craig and 27 grand, great grand and great great grandchildren. Otis spent most of his life in Miami, Florida and has lived in Shirley and Fairfield Bay, Arkansas for the last 12 years. Mr. Grannis and a Bachelors Degree in electrical Engineering from Purdue University with graduate studies at the University of Miami. he was a Registered engineer in the States of Florida, Virginia, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, West Virginia and Idaho, as well as Washington, D.C. and he had a NCEE Certificate. His professional memberships included the National Society of Professional Engineers, Florida Engineering Society, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and Illuminating Engineering Society. Mr. Grannis' awards included selection as "Engineer of the Year" by the Florida Engineering Society in 1979. He was also very active in the NASA space program through 1985. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1953 as a Lt. Colonel. Otis was a great father, leader, teacher and role model for his family and friends.

Richard Smith
Richard (Dick) Smith, a former resident of Fairfield Bay, departed this life in a Florida hospital, Monay, July 21, following a long illness and recent diagnosis of cancer. Those who knew him will remember his hearty laugh and sense of humor. He celebrated his 81st birthday June 20. Although he loved to play golf, he had to give it up in the past two years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. His church affiliation was with the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Marge; three children and two stepchildren and seven grandchildren. A memorial was to be held in North Fort Meyer, FL and burial will take place in the family plot in Quincey, IL.
