Kathy Van Houtte, 61 of Elkins passed away at her home on November 7. Kathy was born February 7, 1949 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan the daughter of Maurice O. Van Houtte and Edigna Magdalen Faust.
She graduated from high school in Champaign, IL. After high school, she traveled extensively and finally settled in Eureka Springs eventually moving to Elkins.
She received her RN degree from the University of Arkansas and enjoyed her work caring for people. At the time of her death she was working for Care IV Home Health.
She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Van Houtte and is survived by her mother, Edigna Van Houtte of Davison, MI; brother, Maurice of Hutchinson, MN; 2 sisters, Pamela Lipe of Davison, MI, Mary Van Houtte of Amsterdam the Netherlands and several nieces and nephews.
No services are scheduled.
Beard's Chapel handled the cremation arrangements.

Bobby Gene Smith

Bobby Gene Smith, 84, of Fayetteville, AR. passed away Tuesday, October 5th, 2010 in Fayetteville, AR. Bob was born May 31st, 1926 in Stanford, AR. to Mollie and Robert Smith.
Bob was married to Gussie J. Smith for 56 years. He is survived by his wife Gussie, his son, Bobby G. Smith III and his daughter in-law, Marty M. Smith of Fayetteville, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Pauline Boozer of Paragould, AR., Lurvine Herbert of Houston, TX. and Rhoda Pickett of Walcott, AR.
Bob served his country during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with the Army’s 1st Cavalry. He attended Arkansas State University and was a lifelong Razorback fan.
His successful career in the School and Office Products Industry received peer and industry recognition for his sales and leadership skills.
In 1993, former First Lady Barbara Bush presented Bob with the Lifetime Achievement Award from SHOPA - The School, Home and Office Products Association.
Bob was a Christian, faithful provider, husband and father.
The family would like to express its appreciation and gratitude for the love and care Bob received while at Fayetteville City Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Fayetteville City Hospital Activity Fund, 221 S. School Street, Fayetteville, AR. 72701.
Services will be held at the Fayetteville National cemetery, Friday, October 15th at 11:00 AM.

Shirley Jean Kelly Ridenoure

Shirley Jean Kelly Ridenoure, 58 of Fayetteville passed away September 20, 2010.
She was born October 17, 1951 in Prairie Grove.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frankie Kelly and mother Julia Kelly.
Shirley was a homemaker and spent many years at the University of Arkansas acquiring a Bachelor of Science in education, two masters of education and one PHD.
Shirley was loved by many and she loved people.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Charles Ridenoure of Fayetteville; son, Steve Ridenoure and wife Kim of Fayetteville; step-son, Rick Ridenoure and wife Carla of Springdale; step-daughter, Gina Rankin and husband, Andy of Fayetteville; step-grandchildren, Rick Ridenoure Jr., Jared Ridenoure, Zoe Ridenoure and Zack Ridenoure and one-great-stepgranddaughter, Gracie Mae Ridenoure; 3-sisters, Eva Chitwood. Sharon Rakes and Beverly Center; 4-nieces and nephews, Kris Hime, Doug Stanberry, Gary Rakes, Jr. and Rachel Center and a host of family and close friends.
Graveside Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday; September 23, 2010 at Fairview Memorial Gardens with Pastors Don Warford and Buel Curtis officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel.

Patricia Diane Owens

Patricia Diane Owens, 53, of Lincoln died Monday October 11, 2010 at her home in Lincoln. She was born November 7, 1956 in Springdale the daughter of Leonard Dale and Nellie Allen Kidder.
She was a retired L.P.N. and had worked in Nursing for several years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jackie Yeilding, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Milford Owens of the home; 2-sons, Gary Osburn and wife, Jennifer of Fayetteville, James Yeilding and wife, Courtney of Opelika, Alabama; 3-brothers, Leonard L. Kidder, Jr., James Kidder and Freddy Kidder all of Opelika, Alabama; 7-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday October 16, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church in Lincoln with Pastor Jerry Myzell officiating.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.

Thomas Pinion, 75 of Winslow, AR died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born December 18, 1934 in Short Mountain, Oklahoma the son of James Granville Pinion and Doshie Patton.
He married the former Margaret Etta Daugherty on September 23, 1955 in Jeffersonville, IN. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and the VFW in Spiro, OK and was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Sue in 1980.
He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was employed as an auto mechanic with Washington County Road Department for 10 years before retiring in 1997.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margaret Etta Pinion of the home; 5 sons, Larry Pinion and his wife, Kathy of Fort Gibson, OK, Steve Pinion and his wife, Miquela of Ardmore, OK, Mike Pinion of Winslow, AR, Mitch Pinion and his wife, Patti of Granbury, TX, Daniel Pinion and his wife, Jessie of Mt Airy, NC; daughter, Peggy Lynn Riggs of British Alberta, Canada; 5 sisters, Helen Deal and her husband, Herb of West Pittsburgh, PA, Anita Tidwell and her husband, Emmitt of Dale City, OK, Karen Perkins and her husband, Jimmy of Bonanza, AR, Joyce Holt and her husband, James of Hackett, AR, Margette Brooks and her husband, Randy of Yukon, OK; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10AM, November 5, 2010 at Beard's Chapel with Reverend Lynville Eaton officiating. Burial will be 2PM Friday at New Hope cemetery in Spiro, OK under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7PM on Thursday at Beard's Chapel.

Tom Pense, 63, of Mountainburg, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 in Fayetteville. He was born May 15, 1947 in Fort Smith the son of Aaron and Velma Hayes Pense.
He was a Water Treatment Plant Operator for the City of Fort Smith and attended Winfrey Valley Tabernacle Church. He also served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Tom was a Mountain Man, who loved children, the outdoors, avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Center Pense of 43 years; 1-son, Aaron Zachariah 'Zack' Pense of Mountainburg; 2-brothers, Jim Pense of West Fork and Jay Pense of Fayetteville; 1-sister, Sue Philpott of West Fork; 2-grandchildren, Cash Pense and Scarlett Raven Pense.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday October 15, 2010 at Living Faith Church in Fayetteville with Pastor Roy Biswell officiating. Interment will be 4:30 PM at Pense-Reed cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM Thursday at Living Faith Church in Fayetteville.

Lee Ann Neathery, 50 Fayetteville died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at her home. She was born January 15, 1960 in Little Rock, Arkansas the daughter of Carson R. Hayden, MD and Nancy Schneider Hayden.
She grew up in Texas and moved to the Fayetteville area in the mid 1970’s. In her early twenties, she was learning to be a pilot and worked as an office manager for Dr. Hayden. Later in life, she was a Cancer survivor.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeri Ann Neathery of Fayetteville; brother, Harold Hayden of Fayetteville; 2 sisters, Mary Lou Johnson of Fayetteville, Lynn Brown of Houston, TX; mother, Nancy Hayden of Fayetteville and her father, Dr. Carson Hayden of Fayetteville.
Funeral service will be 10AM, Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Beard's Chapel. Family will have private burial at a later date at Fairview Memorial Gardens cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Beard's Chapel on Wednesday from 5 to 7PM.
The family requests that memorials be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 3291 S Thompson St # D104, Springdale, AR 72764-7357

Gertrude Lewis

Gertrude Lewis, 89 of Springdale died Saturday, October 2, 2010 in Fayetteville.
She was born August 29, 1921 in Elkins, Arkansas the daughter of Arthur McNeely and Fannie Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lewis, and a brother and sister.
Survivors include a brother, Hoyt McNeely; sister, Lora Jean Guss of San Diego, California and a nephew, Jim McCarty and his wife, Sharles of Greenland, AR.
Graveside service will be 10AM, Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at McCord cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
No visitation is scheduled.

Debra Lynne Lankford

Debra Lynne Lankford (née Heyliger), 55, of Springdale, died Friday, October 1, 2010, at peace and surrounded by her family. She was born December 11, 1954 in Camden, NJ. From ages five to nineteen, she grew up in Doylestown, Bucks County, PA, and graduating in 1972 from Christopher Dock Mennonite High School in Lansdale, PA. As a teenager, she played piano, violin in the orchestra, and worked with developmentally disabled children in Point Pleasant, PA.
After moving to Fayetteville in 1974, she graduated from nursing school and spent thirteen years at Washington Regional Medical Center, serving six years in Intensive Care, and was an original member of WRMC's first dedicated IV team.
In 1978, only three months after their first meeting, she married Tommy Lee Lankford, and spent the next thirty-two years as his wife and partner.
She retired from nursing in 1988, after the birth of her third child. She traveled the country extensively with her family, making nearly-annual trips to Panama City Beach, visited many National Parks, including Glacier, Yellowstone, Zion, and the Grand Canyon, just to name a few. In 2010, she fulfilled a longtime wish to visit the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC.
After battling a stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis in late 2004, she remained in remission for nearly six years, during which time she became a volunteer and eventual employee of the Springdale Public Library. An avid reader, she loved a good mystery or thriller, as well as the occasional trashy romance novel, and she shared her love of books with her husband and children.
She is survived by her husband and their three children: Andrew Cheyne Lankford and fiancee Michelle Allen of Fort Smith, Rebecca Leigh Kesner and husband Brad of Springdale, Kathryn Blythe Rojo and husband Alex of Springdale; her parents, Desmond II and Barbara-Joan Heyliger of Fayetteville; two brothers and two sisters: Desmond Heyliger III and wife Barbara of Harrison, Dorothy Ann Ashworth and husband Bill of Fayetteville, Robert Bruce Heyliger and wife Geri of West Fork, Marjorie June Ward and husband Daniel of Fayetteville; and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a generation of her children's friends who knew her as a "second mom."
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, October 4th at Mt. Comfort Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, with a graveside service immediately after. While flowers are welcome, the family also encourages donations to Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
Beard's Funeral Chapel and Crematory handled the cremation arrangements.
