Esther L. Heslep
Esther Lorine Heslep, 85, of North Little Rock passed away peacefully with family at her side on Jan. 1, 2005. She was born April 19, 1919, in Jacksonville to William Autry and Cora Lee Garrett.
She was a member of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Class. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Loise Walter Heslep; son, Ronald Dale Heslep; three brothers, Elgin, Leroy and Orville Garrett; and two sisters, Bunice Lloyd and Marie Burtman. She is survived by four daughters,
Gwen Couch of Sherwood, Norma Taylor and husband Ben of DeValls Bluff, Karen Karps and husband John of Hot Springs, and Cheryl Daugherty and husband Tim of Cabot; son, Larry Heslep and wife Joann of Sherwood; sister, Lillian McQuerry of Little Rock; brother, Edgar Garrett of El Paso; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; and a host of extended family and friends.
For years, Esther was an active member of the survivors of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), which brought her years of good fellowship. In past years, Esther worked for Yoders Mfg. Co., J.C. Penney, Arkansas School for the Deaf, and VA Hospital. She was a wife, mother, and homemaker who loved to cook and sew for her family, and had a great sense of humor.
Funeral service were set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 at North Little Rock Funeral Home, officiated by the Reverend Dale Scott. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Bryant.
Pallbearers will be Mark Taylor, Jeff Heslep, Greg Heslep, Keith Heslep, Redgie Adams, and Tom Garrett.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Arkansas Programs and Services, 10411 West Markham, Suite 130, Little Rock, AR, 72205. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Golden Years Manor of Lonoke for their years of care and concern for Esther.

Mable Shirley Feilke
Mable Shirley Feilke, 86, of Stuttgart died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 .
She was preceded in death by her son, John Feilke; her parents, Lee and Mamie Shirkey; and brothers, Lester, Harold, Orin and Leo Shirkey.
Survivors are her husband of 65 years, Arthur Feilke; two sons, Tom Feilke of Atlanta, Ga., and David Feilke and wife Tricia of Stuttgart; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Lorene Shelton of Casscoe and June Walters of Dover, Ark.; and one brother, Arlie “Pete” Shirkey of Stuttgart.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Stuttgart . Burial followed in Emanuel Lutheran cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 209 S. Grand, Stuttgart, Ark. 72160, or the charity of one’s choice.

Janie Lee Hunt
Janie Lee Hunt, 80, of Carlisle died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center, North Little Rock. She was born April 15, 1928 in Hazen, Arkansas to Edgar Franklin and Pearlie Ann (Kerr) Rochelle. She is survived by two sons, Travis Hunt and wife Sharon of Carlisle and Trennis Hunt and wife Linda of Carlisle; four daughters, Betty Jenkins and husband Gary of Carpentersville, Illinois, Sharon Wakefield of Ward, Cindy McCrystal and husband Danny of Ward, Freda Wallace and husband Steve of Hazen; two sisters, Alma Lois Ricks of Hazen, Doris McClure of Rover; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, one son, Roger Hunt, one infant daughter, Norma Jean Hunt, two brothers and five sisters.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Hazen, Arkansas with interment in Walters Chapel cemetery. Rev. Dennis Ingle and Rev. Albert Young officiated. Pallbearers were Michael Perry, Dwight Hunt, Albert Billings, Derrin Decker, Preston Billings, Andrea Prislovsky, Allison Parker and Bobby Parker.

William “Rex” Taylor
William “Rex” Taylor of Hazen, born July 10, 1955, in Little Rock, Ark., passed away September 8, 2008. He is survived by his wife DeAnne Taylor of Hazen Ark.; son, Travis Taylor of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Sarah Taylor from Hazen, Ark., and Toni Apel of North Little Rock, Ark.; brother, Richard Taylor of Charleston, S.C.; granddaughter, Emma Apel of North Little Rock; and many other family and friends. He has gone to hunt the graceful lands of heaven and will be greatly be missed by all that knew him. Memorial service was held September 12, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Mike Freeze Wattensaw WMA Archery Range Clubhouse in Hazen, Ark.

Karen Sue Dillon
Karen Sue Dillon, 51, of Carlisle passed away Monday, September 8, 2008. She was a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church of Carlisle.
She is survived by her brother, William R. Dillon of Jacksonville; nephew, David W. Dillon of California; and close friends, Elvin and Carol Whitehead, Latasha Mason and Xavier Butler, all of Carlisle. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Faye Dillon; son, Adam Dillon; and her sister, Victoria Sutton.
Memorials may be made to Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210. A memorial service was held Saturday, September 13, 2008, at the home of Elvin and Carol Whitehead in Carlisle, Arkansas. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 758-1170.

Florence Anna Losak
Florence Anna Losak, age 92, of Beebe, died Sunday, September 7, 2008. She was born January 23, 1916 in Lonoke County, Arkansas, the daughter of Elmer Lewis and Anna Jane Nettleton Morris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex and a daughter, Barbara Ann. Florence is survived by one son, George Losak and wife, Pat of Sherwood; one daughter, Donna Shaner and husband, Steve of Woodridge, Illinois; one sister, Cora Madar of Pine Bluff; one brother, Ruben Morris of Lonoke; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Lonoke Church of Christ in Lonoke, Arkansas by Pastor Dan Reed. Burial was in the Hazen cemetery. Pallbearers were George Morris, Bill Glover, Joe Lisko, Carl Madar, Matt Shaner, and Aaron Shaner.
There was a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Harding Place in Searcy on Thursday afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Home, 5515 Walcot Road, Paragould, Arkansas 72450.
Arrangements are by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.

Hazel Anita Perkins
Hazel Anita Perkins, age 78, of Des Arc died Monday September 8, 2008 at Des Arc Nursing and Rehab. Survivors include her husband Russell, two daughters, Paralee Oliver, Ollie Pearl Denham, one son, Edward Leroy Moore, one sister, Lillian Dorland, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation is 6:00 until 8:00, Wednesday. Services are 1 p.m., Thursday at Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church in Des Arc with burial at 4:00 in New Summit cemetery in Benton by Garth Funeral Home.

Mary Emma Edmondson
Mary Emma Edmondson, age 85, of Carlisle, was called to her Heavenly Home on September 10, 2008. Mary Emma lived in the Hamilton (Carlisle) community most of her young life and in Carlisle for the rest of her life. She graduated from Carlisle High School in 1941. Mary Emma’s career was working for her relatives; Clarice and Bernie Cook at the Carlisle Mercantile store, Pat Cook (an almost brother) in the Carlisle Drug Store and until her retirement she worked with her sister and brother-in-law, June and Conley House in the Kocourek & Son Hardware store in Hazen as manager of their greenhouse.
“Emmie” was a friend to everyone and had a great love for children and enjoyed watching them grow to adults. She was a charter member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Carlisle and a devout and loyal member. She loved God, her church, and others before herself.
It seems as if she stayed in touch with God’s nature by enjoying her yard, garden, and her flowers, which she shared with many friends. One of her friends said, “Mary Emma was a master gardener long before they had a garden club.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Baxter and Kate Buffalo Edmondson. Mary Emma is survived by one brother, Edward (Mary) Edmondson of Little Rock; one sister, June E. (Conley) House of Hazen; two nieces, two nephews, two great nieces, five great-nephews, three great-great-nephews, and many cousins.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Carlisle by Bro. Jim Byrum.. Burial was in the Carlisle cemetery. Pallbearers were Steven Chambers, Larry Buffalo, Harry Bufalo, Roger Webb, Neil Daniels, Kyle Cook, Jerry Colclasure and Wilburn Hanks. Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Jennings, Ricky Sumner and the Carlisle Class of 1941.
Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church in Carlisle or the Carlisle cemetery.

Lawrence Edward Jabus Craig
Lawrence Edward Jabus Craig, 51, passed away September 12, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy Craig; daughters, Miranda Worton and Hillary Craig; son, Shane Craig; two grandchildren; brothers, Barney, Jimmy, Jerry, Tony and Charles Craig; sisters, Bobbie Hicks, Carolyn Mavity, Francis Grey, Diane Ford, Dorothy Hanks, Cathy Dismuke, Catherine Henson and Helen Speck.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Lonoke. Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

Glen C. Walden
Glen C. Walden, age 86, of Ward, Ark. died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008. He was born in Carlisle, Ark. on Dec. 18, 1921 to the late Frank and Mable Walden. Glen was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a devoted member of Country Chapel Church in Cabot and council member since January 1995, served as a Councilman for the City of Ward for 13 years, member of the Chamber of Commerce and president in 1993, Charter member of Lions Club since May 2001, been instrumental with all areas of the City of Ward. He also helped start the Ward Seniors Program in 2003 and was president for the first three years. Glen was a POW in WWII for 45 months.
His memory will be cherished by his wife, Thelma; one daughter, Tanya Bauer and husband Rick of Ward; daughter-in-law, Brenda Walden of Mabelvale; two sisters; Lucille Honeycutt of Monroe, La.; Wanda Blankenship of Benton; granddaughters, Jessica Carnes of North Little Rock, Paige Bauer of Ward, Kim Morriss of Aurora, Colo.; grandson, Brad Long of Alexander and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roy Walden; one daughter, Brenda Walden; and one brother Ben Walden.
Funeral service celebrating Glen’s life was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008 at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Beebe. Interment was at Arkansas State Veterans cemetery in Sherwood, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ward Volunteer Fire Dept., P. O. Box 237, Ward, Ark. 72176. Arrangements by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, Ark.

Mamie Nell Johnson Waters
Mamie Nell Johnson Waters, 77, of Houston, Texas, went to be with the Lord September 7, 2008. She was born January 24, 1931, to Raymon and Myrtle Johnson of Des Arc, Arkansas. She was the seventh of 11 children.
Nell enjoyed along successful career with the JC Penney Company. She started with the company in 1963 as a salesclerk and worked her way up to district personnel manager in Houston, Texas, before retiring in 1991. She had an innate sense of style that made her perfect for a career in fashion retail. After retiring, she spent time with her two grandsons. She and Daniel took porcelain doll-making classes, and she and James traveled to Kentucky to visit her cousin Encil Johnson. Nell took great joy in her grandsons.
She is survived by daughters, Kay Waters Sakaris of Pasadena, Texas, and Barbara Waters George of League City, Texas; two grandsons, Petty Officer Second Class James Sakaris of the United States Navy, assigned to the U.S.S. Boxer, and Senior Airman Daniel George of the United States Air Force, currently stationed in the Middle East; sons-in-law, John Sakaris of Pasadena, Texas, and Mark George of San Leon, Texas; sisters, Jean Freeman of Friendswood, Texas, and Sue Margrave of Pine Bluff; brothers, Tommy of Royse City, Texas, and Larry Johnson of Little Rock; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly missed by everyone.
Graveside services will be held at Lakeside cemetery in Des Arc, Arkansas, at 2 p.m. on September 20, 2008. Arrangements by Crowder Funeral Home, 111 E. Medical Center Boulevard, in Webster, Texas 77598.
