FRANK A. GRIFFIN
Frank A. Griffin, Sr., 93, of Benton, a retired construction worker, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at his home.
He was born Aug. 24, 1911 in Murphysboro, Ill., to the late Edgar Griffin and Eliza Ann Osborne. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a lifetime member of Bryant Masonic Lodge, and a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Benton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren Frank A. Griffin III, Robin Hood, and Ann Ammons.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years Elizabeth Ollene Griffin; one son Frank A. Griffin, Jr. of Traskwood; three daughters Joyce Wright and Elaine Hood, both of Benton, and Edna French of Sardis; 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Friday, Feb. 11, in the chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home, with Bro. Mac Davis officiating. Burial was at Social Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers: Randy Hood, Wayne Wright, Tommy Browning, William Browning, Doug Griffin, and Jeff Ashley.
ROY FREELAND WATSON
Roy Freeland Watson, 76, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Baptist Hospital.
Born Oct. 27, 1928 in Yell County, he was the son of the late John Wesley Watson and Minnie Francis Brown (Watson). He served our country in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947. He married
Norma Dean Boyd on Oct. 14, 1951. He was a member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church of Little Rock and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, his parents and three brothers Flavous Watson, J.W. Watson and Joe Watson.
Surviving are two daughters Pamela Griffin and husband Rex of Benton, and Patricia Grisham and husband Tim of Bryant; brother J.F. Watson of Little Rock; sister Marie Gately of Edmond, Okla.; five sisters-in-law Juanita Watson of Texas, Betty Boyd of Marysville, Calif., Lindel Witt of Little Rock, Mary Ann Watson of Little Rock and Naomi Ray of Booneville; two brothers-in-law Ollie Fay Ray of Booneville and Carol Lamb of Conway; five grandsons Matthew Griffin (Diana), Dusty Griffin, Wesley Griffin (Stacie), Casey Grisham and Bradley Grisham; and three great-grandchildren Zachary Pyle, Dylan Griffin and Emma Griffin.
Funeral was Wednesday, Feb. 16, at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, Little Rock, with Elder Ersel Tillery, Elder Sonny Huckaby, Elder James Winston, Elder Jim Turner and Elder Ralph Sandage officiating. Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Arrangements by Roller-Drummond Southwest.
ALLEENE ELIZABETH GORDON
Alleene (Betty) Elizabeth Gordon, 73, of Alexander, retired from Gannett Corporation, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005.
She was born to William and Dora Hancock on July 31, 1931 in Little Rock. She recently started volunteering at Southwest Hospital. She was an active church member at Vimy Ridge Immanuel Baptist Church in Alexander. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Junior Gordon.
Surviving are her daughter Mary Alice Gordon of Little Rock; her son Thomas Ray Gordon of Alexander; a daughter-in-law Cheryl Gordon; and two grandchildren Andrew Thomas Gordon of Michigan and Arik Steinmetz of California.
Graveside services were Monday, Feb. 14, at Pinecrest Memorial Park, with Brother Rob Welborn officiating. Arrangements by Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Southwest.
LAWRENCE BECK
Lawrence (Paul) Beck, 72, of Hensley, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005.
He was born on Nov. 22, 1932 at St. Vincent to the late Lawrence and Clemintine Beck. He was the first of eight children. Two sisters JoAnne Ball and Lorene Stoops preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife Charlene Bacus Beck, whom he married
on Sept. 6, 1975; his son Rodney Beck and step-son David Green of Mt. Home; three brothers Robert Beck of Little Rock, Charles Beck of Bryant and Harold Beck of Malvern; two sisters Justine Ball of Searcy and Mary Asay of Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Monday, Feb. 14, at the Roller-Drummond Southwest Chapel, with Mike Knappier officiating. Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
THOMAS LEROY COLCLAURE
Thomas Leroy (Pete) Colclasure of Bauxite, retired from Union Pacific Railroad as car man, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005.
He was born in Lonoke on Dec. 12, 1926. He loved fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, and was a great storyteller.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years Margaret Joyce Spann Colclasure; four children Marty Bevans of Bauxite, Dottie Van Horn and husband John of Hot Springs, Libby Baker and husband Gene of Dale, Ind., and Tom Colclasure and wife Teri of Little Rock; five siblings Jearldean Hall of Lonoke, Bessie Watson and husband Ralph of Lonoke, Faye Hill and husband Norwood of Dumas, Ruby Randall and husband Bud of Hot Springs, and Adolphus Colclasure and wife Edith of Blue Mountain; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Sardis, with Pastor Rick Porter officiating. Burial was at McPherson cemetery in Sardis.
Pallbearers: Jim Powell, Steven Oliver, Michael Jones, Kenny Peterson, John Peterson, Brian Kelley and Ronald Nichols.
The family requests memorials be made to Saline County Hospice.
Betty Hames Gray
March 22, 1934 - August 11, 2012
Betty Hames Gray, 78, of Jacksonville died Saturday, August 11, 2012. She was born March 22, 1934 in Cushman to the late Remmel and Ida Patterson Hames. Mrs. Gray was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist faith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her husband, Bartus M. Gray.
Mrs. Gray is survived by her daughter, Beverly Brummett of Durham, North Carolina, a half sister, Marie George and good friends, Vince Capp and Wendell Nicholson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gray will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 in the chapel of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home with Reverend Mark McDonald officiating. Entombment will be at Chapel Pines Mausoleum under the direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home (501)982-2136.
MELBA LOUISE CURRY
January 19, 1936 - June 9, 2013
Melba Louise Curry, 77, of Jacksonville died Sunday, June 9, 2013. She was born January 19, 1936 in Dumas to the late Thomas E. and Clara Pearl Underwood Posey.Mrs. Curry was a devout Christian and had a strong belief in God. She worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service for over 20 years at many Air Force bases throughout the world. She was a great cook and loved to travel. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Curry was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Hendersen, Faye Naron and Patricia Huffman and two brothers, Ermil “Bud” Posey and Herston Posey.
Mrs. Curry is survived by her husband of 56 years, Raymond Curry of Jacksonville; her children, Deborah and Phil Sperling of Lawton, Oklahoma, Michael and Deborah Curry of Kingsland, Belinda Decker and Wayne Burris of Little Rock, Raymond E. and Corrin Curry of the United Kingdom, and Richard and Melanie Curry of Hawaii; one sister, Shirley Rodgers and one brother, Cletis Posey, both of Monticello; 15 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces/nephews and extended family.
Memorial services will be Thursday, 13 June at 2pm at Marshall Road Baptist Church, 821 Marshall Road, Jacksonville, AR 72076 with Pastor Toby Talley officiating. Joseph Landa, Jr.
August 14, 1922 - August 17, 2012
Joseph Landa Jr. age 90 of Jacksonville, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born August 14, 1922 in Edwardsville, Illinois to Joseph and Otilie Slavik Landa Sr. Mr. Landa was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served during WW II as a fighter pilot. He retired from the US Postal service. Mr. Landa was a member of 2nd Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Mr. Landa was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Gregg Landa on December 5, 2007; two sons, Michael and Gregg Landa and an infant son, James Thomas Landa; sister, Blanche Niemann.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Rob and Terri Landa of Birmingham; two grandchildren Robin and Erin Landa; sister, Betty Evans.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Deborah (Debbi) Joye Markham Staley, 50, of Bryant slipped from this life into eternal peace with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005.
A celebration of life was Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church, with Dr. Paul Sanders and Dr. Bruce Chesser officiating. Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Arrangements by Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth.

Gladys “Dann” Renuard age 69, of Ward went to be with her Lord Wednesday, August 22, 2012. She was born July 7, 1943 in Corning, New York to the late Russell and Doris Dann. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Renuard, her grandson, Kerry Wayne Snaples, and a great-grandson Seth Renuard.
She is survived by children; Thomas Renuard, Kimberly Renuard both of Ward, Richard Renuard and his wife Chris of Jacksonville, Wayne Snaples and his wife Janice of Jacksonville, Doris Nunnelly of North Little Rock, Keith Renuard of Ward, Michael Renuard and his wife Sharon of Dardenelle, Todd Renuard of Russellville, and Shawn Renuard of Russellville, 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.
