Robert G. 'Buster' Gibson

JONESBORO -- Robert G. "Buster" Gibson, 78, of Jonesboro, died Saturday at SkilCare Nursing Center.

Born in the Gilkerson community, Mr. Gibson lived all of his life in the Jonesboro area. He was a retired manager of the Craighead Farmer's Co-op near Valley View and was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ.

Buster was an Army veteran and a member of the Valley View Ruritan Club. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Gibson; his parents, Bob and Julia Pierce Gibson; and a brother, Tommy Gibson.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Horton Gibson of Jonesboro; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Lee Tilley of Jonesboro; a sister, Lucille Turner of Jonesboro; two cousins, Georgia Mahon and Willis Broadawy, both of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Chris Tilley and Andrea Davis, both of Jonesboro; and two great-grandchildren, Brock Davis and Abigail Davis, both of Jonesboro.

Graveside funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, with Richard Akins officiating. Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, please consider St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis 38105, or to St. Bernard's Hospice, 2813 Forest Home, Jonesboro 72401.

Tomizene Janes

PARAGOULD -- Tomizene Janes, 87, of Paragould died Dec. 24, 2005, at Paragould Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 17, 1918, in Greene County, she was a retired lunch room worker for the Paragould School District and a lifetime member of Alexander Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Betty Janes and Buck and Jane Janes, all of Paragould; two grandchildren, Richard Janes and Stephanie Cox; and one great-grandson, Christian Cox.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervon Janes; her parents, John and Birdie Elmore; one brother, Robert Elmore; and three sisters, Jewell Lambert, Maxine Gibson and Edna Holcomb.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Bob Hager and Conley Williams officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Mitchell Funeral Home.

George Lancaster

JONESBORO -- George Lancaster, 93, of Jonesboro died Friday, Dec. 23, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.

Born at St. Louis, the son of George and Mamie Stein Lancaster, he owned Deep Rock Service Station before he retired. He served in the Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a member of Nettleton Church of Christ and Elks Lodge No. 698 in Jonesboro.

He is survived by four daughters, Georgia Richardson, Gloria Shumake, Dianne Aycock and Charlotte Martin, all of Jonesboro; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Lamburth Lancaster; a daughter; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Langford-Bookout Funeral Home, with Jimmy Young officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro.

Memorials may be made to the Children's Home of Paragould, 5515 Old Walcott Road, Paragould 72450.

Mary Lee Miller

TYRONZA -- Mary Lee Miller, 80, of Tyronza died Friday, Dec. 23, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was a Baptist and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Miller; one brother; and one sister.

Survivors include two sons, Floyd Green of Lepanto, Jimmy Miller of Tyronza; one daughter, Mary Hindman of Tyronza; three brothers, James Higgins of Tiptonville, Tenn., John Henry Higgins of Tyronza and Charlie Higgins of Jonesboro; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at Murphy Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday following visitation, with Lynn Vinson officiating.

J.R. Austin Jr.

NEWARK -- J.R. Austin Jr., 92, of Newark died Sunday.

He was born Dec. 4, 1913, at Newark, the son of J.R. and Dora Austin.

Survivors include his wife, Locie Austin; a son, Jimmy Austin and wife Glenda of Newark; a daughter, Linda McClain and husband Larry of Newark; a brother, Theo Austin of Trumann; a sister, Betty Langston of Newark; three grandchildren, Melissa Richmond, Scott McClain and Shelley Hill; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Missionary Baptist Church of Newark. Interment will be in Blue Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today. Arrangements are by Jackson's Newark Funeral Home.

Lora Mae Brown

POCAHONTAS -- Lora Mae Brown passed from this life at her residence on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2005, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Brown was born Aug. 13, 1921, on a farm in the Surridge community to William Henry and Lora Mae Rogers Fry. She married Carl Cecil Brown on Oct. 14, 1940.

Survivors are her son, David W. Brown of Pocahontas; her daughter, Carlotta Baird of Bartlesville, Okla.; daughter-in-law Lucy Brown; son-in-law Dale S. Baird; grandchildren Michelle Jones, Traci Komm, Brian Cherry, Steven Cherry, Karla Brigham; great-grandchildren Taylor Jones, Clint Jones, Logan Cherry, Chandler Brigham, Lily Cherry and William Cherry; sisters Pauline Brown and Geraldine Harvester, brother in law Millard Harvester and several nieces and nephews.

Brown was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brothers, Roy, Raymond and John L. Fry; a sister, Wilda Fry and great granddaughter, Laken Fry.

Services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Skaggs Church of Christ, with Gerald Fears officiating. Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas.

Interment will be at Masonic Cemetery with McNabb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Children's Home, 5515 Old Walcott Road, Paragould, 72450 or to Hospice Memorial Fund, St. Bernard's Medical Center, 2813 Forest Home Road, Jonesboro, 72401.

Linda Kay Chavers

CAVE CITY -- Linda Kay Chavers, 60, of Cave City died Sunday, Dec. 25, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

She was born May 12, 1945, at Batesville to Carl Alton and Ruby Estella Gifford Coles.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, with Jim Black officiating. Burial will follow in Cave City Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Thelma Clements

IMBODEN -- Thelma Clements, 91, of Imboden passed away Sunday.

She was a former owner and operator of Thelma's Café at Imboden and a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Bob Clements of Ocala, Fla., and Charles Clements of Pocahontas; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Annieville. Interment will be in Opposition Cemetery near Ravenden under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Harlis Elgine 'Windy' Cole

LEACHVILLE -- Harlis Elgine "Windy" Cole, age 67 of Leachville, died Saturday, Dec. 24 at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

Born in Cushman, he was the son of the late Jim and Elsie Holloway Cole and had been a Leachville resident since 1948. He was a retired farmer and member of the Leachville Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lonnie Cole, Sr.; two brothers, Faburn "Tuffy" Cole and Verlon Dean Cole.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Green Cole of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Lisa Cole of Black Oak; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Clarence Buckley of Black Oak; a brother, Adam Cole of Collierville, Tenn.; one sister, Laverne Cole Thomas of Leachville.

He was also survived by seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville, with Mr. David Lawrence officiating.

Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery, with Lee McMinn, Boyce Fletcher, Ronnie Bridges, Bobby Martin, Jim Roland and Cole Hawkins.

Honorary pallbearers will include Snowden Hawkins and Lloyd Apple.

The family will receive visitors today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
