Shirley June Patton
Shirley June Patton, 70, of Gravette, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at Gravette Medical Center Hospital. She was born Oct. 18, 1932, in Rogers, to Edwin Lee and Ruby Iris McFall Merritt.
She was raised and educated in Gravette, where she was a drum majorette and editor of the Gravette High School newspaper. She married Arthur J. Patton on Dec. 2, 1948, and the couple was married for 25 years.
She spent the next 15 years with special friend and companion Donald Lee Neusch in Lebanon, Mo.
She was an avid reader, and enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Cyndi Patton of Scotts Valley, Calif.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Belinda Patton of Gravette, Nancy and Bill Mellor of Tamaqua, Pa., and Melody Harrison of Kerrville, Texas; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time.
Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Walter Alan Strong
Walter Alan Strong, 88, of Bella Vista, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at Concordia Care Center Nursing Home in Bella Vista. He was born Nov. 10, 1914, in Elkhorn, Wis., to John Walter and Elsie Yahnkee Strong.
He attended grade school and high school in Elkhorn, Wis. He worked in the purchasing department at G.W. Board Corp., and at the National Tea Co. for five years.
He worked at Concordia Care Center Nursing Home. He was a member of United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista and the Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilhelmina Nellie Strong, on July 21, 2000; and a brother, William J. Strong.
Survivors include a sister, Mary C. Strong of Lake Geneva, Wis.
Cremation arrangements were by the Benton County Funeral Home of Bentonville.

Dorothy E. Ward
Dorothy E. Ward, 78, of Bella Vista, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at her home. She was born June 13, 1925, in Hiram, Mo., to Charley and Clemma Smith.
She worked for International Paper Co. until she retired in 1978. She moved to Bella Vista in 1980 and was active in First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Smith and Walter E. Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Carlos H. Ward; a son, Dean Ward of Fayetteville; a daughter, Debra Hostick of Haskell, Okla.; three brothers, Claude Smith of Highland, Ill., Hughey Smith and Elmer Smith, both of Jackson, Mo.; two granddaughters, Amanda Brown of Huntsville, Texas, and Tiffany Crouch of Tulsa, Okla.; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista with the Rev. Larry R. Williams and the Rev. Wayne L. Bartruff officiating. Burial was at Bella Vista cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista, Ark. (72714); or to St. Mary's Hospice, 1001 W. Walnut St., Suite 3, Rogers, Ark. (72756).

Ruth Emma Beaumont Brown
Ruth Emma Beaumont Brown, 80, of Bella Vista, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista. She was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., to Thomas and Ruth Carey Beaumont.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Benton County since 1994, moving here from Wichita, Kan. She was a member of the Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Mo., and enjoyed tole painting, needlework, reading and gourmet cooking.
She married Donald M. Brown on Oct. 3, 1944, in Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. Brown on Nov. 6, 2002.
Survivors include three sons, Carey Brown of Topeka, Kan., Mark Brown of Auckland, New Zealand, and Joel Brown of Bella Vista; a daughter, Katherine Rowe of Littleton, Colo.; three grandchildren and a stepgrandchild.
No services are planned. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Bentonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eastminster Presbyterian Church, care of Memorial Committee, 215 South Benton Blvd., Kansas City, Mo.

Robert 'Bob' Burns
Robert "Bob" Burns, 74, of Bella Vista, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at his home. He was born March 9, 1929, in Milfay, Okla., to David Randall and Ruby Mae Brown Burns.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from December 1950 to December 1953. He was president of Augusta (Kan.) Country Club for two consecutive terms.
He moved to Bella Vista 13 years ago from Augusta. He attended Highlands United Methodist Church in Bella Vista.
He was an avid hunter and golfer, and enjoyed working with wood and building small things.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Jane Burns; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Orbrey Burns, J.D. "Pete" and Barbara Burns, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Highlands United Methodist Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Charles F. Murry officiating.
Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 610 E. Emma Ave., Springdale, Ark. (72764); to Highlands United Methodist Church, 371 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, Ark. (72715); or to a charity of the donor's choice.

George E. Callen
George E. Callen, 85, of Bella Vista, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at his home. He was born July 30, 1918, in Pittsburg, Kan., to George and Grace Callen.
He graduated from East High School in Kansas City, Mo., in 1935. After college, he became a detective for the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department. When the chief of police resigned to lead the security department of Montgomery Ward and Co., Callen joined him and was responsible for security in several states.
He later became a wholesale distributor. In 1976, he began a real estate career and retired in 2003.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Bella Vista Community Church with the Rev. Richard Lindman officiating.
Memorials may be made to Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. (72714); or to the crippled children's program of Nomad Shrine Club.

Pearl Clark
Pearl Clark, 90, of Bella Vista, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at her home. She was born Feb. 25, 1913, in Pittsburg, Kan., to Perry and Marion Fish Dickinson.
She moved from Pittsburg to Bella Vista in 2002 to be near her daughter.
She enjoyed all types of arts and crafts, gardening and flowers. She was a homemaker and a member of Cornerstone Church in Grove, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Arthur Milton Clark; a son, John Arthur Clark; a daughter, Gertrude Ann Vaughn; and a brother, Marvin Dickinson.
Survivors include four sons, James Howard Clark of Grandview, Mo., Bill Rae Clark of St. Petersburg, Fla., Marvin Lee Clark of Federal Way, Wash., and Larry Allen Clark of Springfield, Mo.; a daughter, Kay Koelling of Bella Vista; two brothers, Albert Dickinson of Wichita, Kan., and Harvey Dickinson of Grove; two sisters, Evamay Aldridge of Pittsburg and Ruby Tucci of Frontenac, Kan.; 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Cornerstone Family Church in Pittsburg with pastors Bill Lay, Janet Lay and Allan Parker officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories cemetery in Pittsburg.

Beulah 'Boots' Crawford
Beulah "Boots" Crawford, 84, of Rogers, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at a local health-care facility. She was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Wheeling, Mo., to Albert and Wilda Parker Crawford.
She graduated from Jay (Okla.) High School in 1940 and attended Denton Women's College in Denton, Texas. She joined the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II. She retired after 20 years of service as a tech sergeant, and served in many overseas tours.
She enjoyed traveling and working on family genealogy. She was a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Brandon of Decatur and Juanita Crawford of Siloam Springs; two sisters-in-law, Gerry Crawford of Fort Smith and Flora Crawford of Oklahoma City; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Stockdale Funeral Chapel in Rogers. A prayer service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the funeral home with pastoral assistant Carol Patterson officiating. Burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery near Hiwasse.
Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 610 E. Emma Ave., Springdale, Ark.

Calvin LeRoy Crone
Calvin LeRoy Crone, 88, of Rogers, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at a local nursing home. He was born July 3, 1915, in Minelo, Texas, to G.W. and Minnie Moore Crone.
He was employed by Harris Baking Co. from 1957 to 1974. He owned and operated Roadside Produce Stand in Bentonville from the early 1970s until 1994.
He enjoyed working with honeybees, which started out as a hobby and later turned into a job that he worked at for more than 20 years. He was a past president of Northwest Arkansas Bee Keepers Association, and was involved with state inspections of honeybees.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Donald Crone of Rogers; a daughter, Cathy Peel of Everett, Wash.; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Dorothy Crone of Bella Vista; a sister, Theda Kiner of Shalimar, Fla.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Sept. 7, at Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers. Graveside funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at Rogers cemetery.

William Leon Deloach Sr.
William Leon Deloach Sr., 67, of Fayetteville, formerly of Bentonville, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, after a long battle with complications of diabetes. He was born April 13, 1936, in Trumann, to F.W. and Betty Roberts Deloach.
He moved to Bentonville in 1976 from Hot Springs, and was owner of a siding and home improvement business for more than 25 years. He was also a homebuilder.
He was a member of Bella Vista Church of Christ and the Home Builders Association.
Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home chapel in Bentonville. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte chapel with Randall Castleman officiating. Burial was at Bentonville cemetery, with arrangements by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Bentonville.
Memorials may be made to Bella Vista Church of Christ, 8889 W. McNelly Road, Bella Vista, Ark. (72714).
