Sylvia M. Yogerst
Sylvia M. Yogerst, 93, of Bella Vista, died Friday, June 22, 2001, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista.
She married
Walter M. Yogerst in May 1933 in Milwaukee. She was a homemaker and an avid piano player and reader.
She was a member of the Altar and Rose Society in Chicago. She moved to Bella Vista in 1970.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Yogerst; and one grandchild.
Survivors include two daughters, Vivian Peters of San Marcus, Calif. and Virginia Hill of Elgin, Ill.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday, June 25 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonvillle. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, in the Callison-Lough Funeral Home Bentonville chapel with the Rev. Tom Skalitsky officiating. Interment followed at St. Vincent Catholic cemetery.
Dorothy Fay Heriford
Dorothy Fay Heriford, 89, of Jane, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. She was born on Sept. 11, 1912, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Mary Keating Fullerton.
She had lived in McDonald County since 1941, and she and her husband built their home in 1946. She was a member of Pineville Christian Church.
She worked for 18 years in the mail room at Cooper Communities in Bella Vista.
Her husband, Lee Heriford, died in 1967.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen McNelly of Anderson, Mo.; one son, Charles Heriford of Springdale; two sisters, Vera Jenkins and Georgia Fitzpatrick, both of Mount View, Mo.; one brother, John Fullerton of Texas; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. Burial followed at Jane cemetery.
Visitation was from noon until 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson. The family received friends at the funeral home from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.
James Howard Hughes
James Howard "Jim" Hughes, 70, of Bella Vista, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at Beverly Health Care in Rogers. He was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Oakland, Calif., to Howard and Elsie Hughes.
He married
Florene O'Neal in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in December 1955 during the Korean Conflict.
He later worked for Ralph M. Parsons for eight years, living in Taiwan for five of those. He then worked for United Airlines for four years, retiring in July 1996.
He moved to Bella Vista, where he was a member of Bella Vista Baptist Church. He was a deacon, serving many churches in New York, California and Taiwan. He also served on two building committees.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hughes of San Ramon, Calif.; and two sisters, Ethel Orio of Newark, Calif., and Jayne Jaeger of Ripon, Calif.
Survivors included his wife of 51 years, Florene Hughes; a daughter, Denise Hughes of Seattle; a son and daughter-in-law, Clayton and Jan Hughes of Westport, Conn.; two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory. Private funeral services will be held.

Eugene Vearl League
Eugene Vearl League, 84, of Bella Vista, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at his home. He was born March 7, 1918, in Haigler, Neb., to Ray Edwin and Anna League.
He was a resident of Bella Vista for 20 years. He graduated from Stratton (Neb.) High School, from Colorado Springs Bible College, and from the Aviation Institute of Denver in 1940. He married
Eileen Roberson on June 9, 1940.
He was employed in aircraft design for Cessna, North American Rockwell and Boeing from 1968 until his retirement in 1989.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen League; and two brothers, Everett League and Richard League.
Survivors include a son, Eugene Vearl League Jr. of Douglass, Kan.; a daughter, Anneva Verleen Shear of Wild Rose, Wis.; eight brothers, Robert League of Bakersville, Calif., Howard League, Roy League and Warren League, all of Stratton, Neb., Ray League of Oklahoma City, Evan League of Denver, Kenneth League of Fort Worth, Texas, and Marion League of Whittier, Calif.; and two sisters, Eileen Freed of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Delores June Campbell of Longmont, Colo.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Bella Vista Funeral Home. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, in the Bella Vista Funeral Home chapel. Burial was at Bella Vista cemetery.
Elizabeth Lamson
Elizabeth Josephine Lamson, 93, of Bella Vista, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista. She was born Dec. 1, 1908, in Wiley, Colo., to William H. and Lela Tweedie Blosser.
She taught in rural schools for 12 years. Following her husband's death, she ran extensive farming and ranching operations for 20 years.
She was active in Wiley Methodist Church for 86 years and was a member of United Methodist Women. She was a worker for the Republican Party for 40 years and was a member of the Cowbells and Farm Bureau.
She moved to Bella Vista eight years ago from Lamar, Colo. She was a member of Bella Vista First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Erma Blosser of Bella Vista; two nieces, three nephews, seven great-nieces, four great-nephews, a great-great-niece and a great-great-nephew.
A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista.
Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
Karen Janine Bogan-Roca
Karen Janine Bogan-Roca, 60, of Noel, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. She was born July 26, 1941, in Rogers, to John and Max Maurine Mount Walker.
She had lived in Noel for eight years, moving from Rogers. She worked as community editor of The Rogers Daily News (now The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas) from 1972 to 1978; as city editor of The Benton County Democrat (now The Benton County Daily Record) from 1978 to 1980; in public relations for St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers from 1980 to 1989; as night copy editor of The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas from 1987 to 1990; as managing editor of The Weekly Vista in Bella Vista from 1989 to 1996, initially for Cooper Communities Inc.; as staff writer and assistant editor of McDonald County Newspapers in 1996-97; and as executive secretary and office manager for the Noel Area Chamber of Commerce and the McDonald County Multicultural Committee from 1997 to 2000.
She was a member of the Bella Vista Animal Shelter Auxiliary, and had served on the Bella Vista United Fund Board of Directors and as vice chairwoman of the Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association Village Pride Committee. She enjoyed football, NASCAR racing and rock 'n' roll music.
Survivors include two daughters, Gina Bogan-Fischer of Anderson, Mo., and Lisa Bogan-Reese of Noel; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements are by Bella Vista Crematory in Bella Vista. Burial will be at a later date.

Maxine D. Short
Maxine D. Short, 78, of Lamar, Mo., and formerly of Bella Vista, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Lakeview Health Care in Lamar. She was born March 1, 1923, in Green Forest, to Alfred and Gertrude Walker Denton.
She and her husband, Thomas V. Short, moved to Bella Vista in 1982. She retired from Northwest Bell Telephone Co. in Omaha, Neb., where she was a marketing staff supervisor. She was a member of the Pioneers Telephone Group and the Women's Circle of the Bella Vista Methodist Church.
She enjoyed gardening, baking cookies, writing letters and caring for her cats, Princess and Pumpkin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Short, in 1988; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Stephen Short of Lamar, Thomas and Julie Short of Nixa, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Bella Vista First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jocelyn Bernholdt officiating.

Warren L. Anderson Sr.
Warren L. "Andy" Anderson Sr., 77, of Bella Vista, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1924, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Chester and Louise Haines Anderson.
He moved to Bella Vista 23 years ago from Lake Winnebago, Mo. He was a member of Bella Vista United Lutheran Church, where he was a choir member for 23 years and a member of the Scholarship Committee, the Men's Church Golf League and the Friday Couples Golf League.
He was a World War II veteran, serving on U.S. Navy submarines.
He worked for Bendix Corp. for more than 27 years, retiring at age 53. He was a part-time employee of Cooper Communities Inc. for more than 15 years.
He was a member of Village Players, appearing in many productions; and was a volunteer tutor for White Rock Schools in Jane, Mo. He enjoyed storytelling at Bella Vista Public Library on Saturday mornings; spin-cast and fly fishing; annual Canadian fishing trips; and playing golf.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Helen Anderson; three sons, Warren L. Anderson II of Lee's Summit, Mo., Gary G. Anderson of Merriam, Kan., and Gordon D. Anderson of Olathe, Kan.; two daughters, Gale A. Ibarra of Greenville, N.C., and Gwynne F. Peterson of Baraboo, Wis.; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Bella Vista United Lutheran Church with the Revs. Richard Jebsen and Fred Schaap officiating.

Sharon Jane Kelso
Sharon Jane Kelso, 55, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born Sept. 1, 1946, in Clovis, N.M., to Thomas and Bernice Arnold Marvin.
She married
George Ernest Kelso on Feb. 23, 1963. The couple moved to the area in 1985 from Phoenix, Ariz. She worked for the custodial department at Central Junior High School in Springdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bernice Marvin.
Survivors include her husband, George Kelso; three sons, Marty Kelso and Randy Kelso, both of Fayetteville, and Lloyd Kelso of Bentonville; four daughters, Tammy Camilleri and Patty McDonald, both of Fayetteville, Tina Southard of Paulden, Ariz., and Cindy Kelly of Kingston, Ontario, Canada; a brother, Thomas Marvin of Barnsdall, Okla.; five sisters, Diana Stidham and Linda Dunn, both of Gravette, Joan Lemon of Mountain View, Betty Stidham of Hiwasse and Karen Stidham of Decatur; 28 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Gravette. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church near Hiwasse with the Rev. James Longmate officiating.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Kelso, Christopher Kelso, David Kelso Jr., David Camilleri Sr., Charles Gilbert and Donnie Dorrey.
Burial was at Mount Pleasant cemetery near Hiwasse.
