After the war, George and his new bride, Bonnie, lived on a new family farm located south of Blue Mountain Lake.

Many area residents knew George and Bonnie through George's service on the Magazine School Board around the time of the construction of the new and present high school building. Or they may have known them through George's & Bonnie's expertise in the area's hay fields and other endeavors.
After the Korean War, George continued his military career serving through the Vietnam War reaching the rank of Colonel in the US Army Reserves before his retirement.
