Beverly Ann Keith
Beverly Ann Keith, 46, of Egypt, died July 6, 2006 at her home.
Born May 20, 1960, in Walnut Ridge, she lived in the Egypt community all her life. She formerly taught at ASU and was the Egypt City Recorder for the past four years. She was a member of the Egypt Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Stevens; a son, Jeremy Escue, Bono; a daughter, Miranda Escue, Amana, Iowa; two stepdaughters, Wendy Rhoads, Nixa, Mo., and Nate' Venkatesan of the Washington D.C. area; three stepsons, Kyle Stevens, Timmy Stevens and Marcus Stevens, all of Tuckerman; her parents, Bill and Anita Keith, Egypt; a brother, Alan Keith, Bono; a sister, Sandra Klemmer, Russellville; and three grandchildren, Mason Escue, Addison Escue and Speedy Rhoads.
Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Egypt Church of Christ with G.W. Allison officiating. Burial was in Markham cemetery under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Pallbearers were Matt Rogers, Clint Rogers, Clay Crain, Mike Graham, Gary Barr and Dennis Downs.

Mary Martin
Mary Martin, 88, of Walnut Ridge, died July 2, 2006, at Walnut Ridge.
She was a homemaker and a member of Main Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Fears and Sue Crum, both of Walnut Ridge, and Helen Arnold, North Little Rock; two sons, Jim Martin, Newport, and Ricky Martin, Jonesboro; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Graveside service was July 4 at 10 a.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
Ruby Mullen
Ruby Mullen, 102, of Trumann, died July 2, 2006, at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City.
Born in Red River County, Texas, she was the daughter of Alvin and Carrie Doyle Canterbury Guess. She lived in Minturn and Hoxie for several years before moving to Trumann. She was a retired factory worker for Singer Company and was of the Protestant faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mullen, in 1937; four sisters, Zona Mullen, Mae Canterbury, Amy Drew and Allie Whittaker; and a brother, Jessie Canterbury.
Survivors include five nieces, Barbara Brown, St. Louis, Carolyn Wilson and Sharon Robbins, both of Trumann, Ruby Couch, Jonesboro, and Ruby Johnson, Southaven, Miss.; and three nephews, Donald Drew, Versailles, Mo., Neil Whittaker, Jonesboro, and Danny Drew, Southaven, Miss.
Funeral was Wednesday, July 5, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home at Trumann with Rev. Garvin Pulley officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Brian McElyea, Richard Hayes, Dan Drew, Matt Drew, Kevin Drew and Derek Hayes.
George Puckett
George Puckett, 84, of Batesville, brother of the late Clyde Puckett, died July 3, 2006, in a Little Rock hospital. Burial was Thursday in Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Batesville under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.
Laura E. Thomas
Laura E. Thomas, 84, of Powhatan died Sunday morning July 9th at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Thursday morning Koffee Klutch Klub, who enjoyed her spirited and feisty debates.
Laura was born and raised in Chicago, Ill., and became a welder in St. Louis during World War II, then moved to the Los Angeles area. Her journey to Arkansas came after her first marriage to a native son from Ravenden Springs, Charles S. Rush, who preceded her in death.
Her father came from Scotland in 1910 and from this heritage she learned to make the best Scottish shortbread EVER!
She is survived by and will be sorely missed by her husband, W.W. "Bill" Thomas; two sons Chuck Rush and wife Paulette of Lynn, and Curtis Rush and wife Mischel of Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Lynetta Smith and husband John of Ravenden, and Lucinda Smith and husband Bryan of Black Rock; two stepchildren, Bill Thomas, Jr., and wife Leta of Lake Kiowa, Texas, and Doris Thomas of Walnut Ridge.
She leaves a great legacy of 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, all of whom loved their "Grandma" and "Gee Gee."
Visitation will be Wednesday night July 12 at Higginbotham Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Funeral will be at New Hope Baptist Church on Hwy. 117 at 10 a.m. on Thursday July 13. Burial will be at Janes cemetery on Hwy. 90 outside Ravenden Springs, where the bagpipes will be played in Laura's honor.
Pallbearers will he her grandsons: John A. Smith, Jeff Rush, Joe Rush, Steve Booth, Mark Smith, Charlie Rush and Yancy Farmer. Honorary pallbearers will be the Thursday morning Koffee Klutch Klub ladies.
Edward Eugene "Hink" Walker
Edward Eugene "Hink" Walker, 78, of Mountain Home, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died recently.
Born May 4, 1928, at Des Arc, he was the son of William Frank and Effie Josephine Linton Walker. He worked in the printing industry for more than 30 years. He and his wife settled in Chicago in 1945. They retired back to Walnut Ridge in 1993 and moved to Mountain Home in 1998. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and served as an usher for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Imogene Fry Walker, whom he married
Nov. 20, 1948, at Sedgwick; seven brothers, Alva Walker, Lilbourn Hayes Walker, Gardner "Doc" Wyatt Walker, James Otto Walker, Ray Linton Walker, Gaylon Scott Walker and William Frank Walker; and two sisters, Georgia Walker and Lela Mae Walker.
Survivors include two sons, David Walker, Libertyville, Ill., and Steven Walker, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Matthew Walker, Daniel Walker, Kyle Walker and Lindsey Walker.
Funeral was Friday at 10 a.m. at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home in Mountain Home with pastor Mike Howell officiating. Burial was in Kirby's Tucker Memorial cemetery.
Pallbearers were Matthew Walker, Kyle Walker, Keith Morris, Bruce Morris, Bob Walker and Lanny Walker. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Morris and Jim Griffin.
George "Butch" Blevins
George "Butch" Blevins, 45, of Jonesboro, son of Shelby and Lois Blevins of Smithville, died July 25, 2006. Burial was Thursday in Unity cemetery under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
Hazel Geurin Cole
Hazel Geurin Cole, 91, of Rockford, Ill., formerly of the Smithville and Imboden areas, died July 26, 2006, in Rockford.
Born Dec. 26, 1914, she was the daughter of Elijah Watson and Lila Maude Smith Geurin. She and her husband, Noland Cole, taught school in the Smithville and Imboden communities for several years. After moving to Rockford, she worked as an inspector for Sunstrane Corporation until her retirement. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Rockford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Noland Cole, on Jan. 29, 2006, whom she married
June 20, 1942, at New Hope.
Survivors include a son, Bruce Cole, Tustin, Calif.; four sisters, Oneida Tucker, Springfield, Mo., Hester Helms, Batesville, and Fay Campbell and Jean Griffith, both of Pocahontas; and a brother, Ancel Geurin, Carthage, Mo.
Funeral was Tuesday at Temple Baptist in Rockford under the direction of Olson Funeral Funeral Home of Rockford. Local services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at Higginbotham Chapel with Bro. Charles Helms officiating. Burial will be in Hope cemetery near Smithville under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
Visitation is Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of the service.
Martha Mae Coleman
Martha Mae Coleman, 82, of Walnut Ridge, died July 28, 2006, at Walnut Ridge.
She had lived in Walnut Ridge since moving from Memphis in 1980. She was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Richard Coleman; two sisters; and a half-brother.
Survivors include a son, Richard Coleman, Bartlett, Tenn.; two daughters, Marty Moore, Memphis, and Glenda Loyd, Jonesboro; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Jonesboro with Walter L. Shanks Jr. officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill cemetery under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Bobby Joe Diller Sr., 56, of Pocahontas, father of Tina Rogers of Hoxie, died July 21, 2006. Funeral was Thursday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas with Don Clayton officiating.
Waudine Flanigan
Waudine Flanigan, 77, of Indianapolis, formerly of Lawrence County, died July 20, 2006, at her home, following a lengthy illness.
She was the daughter of Floyd and Loma Hurst of Clover Bend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Flanigan, whom she married
Sept. 7, 1946; a sister, Pauline Hurst; and an infant brother, Carroll Gene Hurst.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Garland, Greenwood, Ind., and Leslie Flanigan, Indianapolis; a son, Vic Flanigan, Scottsdale, Ariz.; four sisters, Janis Hurst and Geraldine Baker, both of Jonesboro, Barbara Cox, Columbia, Mo., and Maxine Short, Indianapolis; three brothers, Glenn Hurst, Monticello, Ky., Estel Hurst, Acton, Ind., and Lavon Hurst, Fairland, Ind.; a granddaughter, Julie Cross; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Monday, July 24, at South Keystone Church of Christ in Indianapolis with Donald Short officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Ind.
Mildred Glenn
Mildred Glenn, 93, of Center Line, Mich., formerly of Hoxie, died Aug. 1, 2006, in Michigan.
Survivors include two sons, Dorman Glenn, Philadelphia, and Price Glenn, Warren, Mich.; a brother, Murr Durham, Strawberry; and several grandchildren.
Arrangements will be announced by Bryan Funeral Home.
Buford Oakley
Buford L. Oakley, 64, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died July 21, 2006, at his home in Barnhart, Mo.
Born Sept. 16, 1941, he worked for J.H. Berra Construction and was a member of the Laborers Union.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Goad Oakley; five daughters, Robin Gant, Richwoods, Mo., Laura Coleman and Karen Chotron, both of Imperial, Mo., Kelly Johnston, Festus, Mo., Tanya Moder-Boehm, Barnhart, Mo.; a son, Jimmy Oakley, Imperial, Mo.; his mother, Lottie Louise Whitford Shatsar, Walnut Ridge; three sisters, Connie Holloway, Barnhart, Mo.; Wanda Dobbs, Kankakee, Ill., and Mary Culbertson of Walnut Ridge; three brothers, Jimmy Shatsar of Sherwood, Eddie Shatsar and Freddie Shatsar, both of Jonesboro; and 19 grandchildren.
A brother, James Shatsar; and his stepfather, Otis Shatsar, preceded him in death.
Funeral was July 24 at Vinyard's Hillcrest Funeral Home in Pevely. Burial was in Shepherd Hills cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.

Alma Florida Thacker, 73, of Paragould, formerly of Smithville, died July 26, 2006, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.
Born Nov. 28, 1932, at Belle City, Mo., she was the daughter of Jack and Grace Tanner Thacker. She was a homemaker and a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sisters, Joyce Malone, Rector, Shirley Drury and Loveda Drury, both of Marmaduke, Linda Swenson, Debary, Fla., Dee Carter, Lake Wells, Fla., and Dolores Brooks, Smithville; and a brother, Harold Thacker, Boydsville.
Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lone Oak Baptist Church, near Smithville, with Jackie Pickett offiating. Burial was in Townsend cemetery under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
