Jefferson McMillon

Jefferson Davis McMillon Jr., 63, died Aug. 18, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Michelle McMillon; children, Jefferson D. McMillon III, Milton McMillon, Thelma Browning, Quishia Robinson, Jazmine D. McMillon, all of Arkansas, Darryl McMillon, Anthony Sullivan, Golden McMillon, all of California; brothers and sisters, Fritz J. McMillon of Wiggins, Miss., Mae D. Burks, Foster McMillon, Elsie N. Gardner, all of North Little Rock, Richard S. McMillon of Modesto, Calif., Betty J. McMillon of Denver, Colo., Jeraldine El Aashry of Kansas City, Mo., Vernell Alexander of Shreveport, La.; 28 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at St. Matthew COGIC, North Little Rock. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park, Sherwood. Services entrusted to Premier Funeral Home, Little Rock.

Donald E. Elliott

Donald Eugene Elliott, age 72, of North Little Rock, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004. He was a member of Levy Baptist Church. He owned and operated North Little Rock Paint and Supply and was later employed by the City of North Little Rock in the Urban Renewal and Community Development departments and as a supervisor in the Sanitation Department, retiring after 21 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during the 1950s and was stationed in Germany. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Odle Elliott; three sons - Richard Elliott of Sherwood, Gary Elliott of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Danny Elliott of Sherwood; one daughter - Donna Batte of Sherwood. 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother - Jarrell Elliott of Newport News, Va. Funeral service was Aug. 27, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel and interment was at Cato United Methodist cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Inc., Woodhome Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greene Tree Road, Baltimore, MD 21208.

Willard B. Sayre

Willard Bennet Sayre, 64, of North Little Rock died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004. He was a security guard. Survivors are 3 brothers, Johnny Sayre of Baldwin Park, Calif., James Reed of Stuttgart and Thomas Reed of Midland, Texas; two sisters, Jane Thrower of Surprise, Ariz., and Patricia Kerksieck of Phoenix, Ariz.; 4 half-brothers; 2 half-sisters. A memorial service was held Thursday at Lone Tree cemetery chapel by Turpin Funeral Home, Inc. Richard Dean Carpenter, Sr., age 51, of Cabot, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004.

He was a construction worker, Army veteran and member of Cabot First Baptist Church. He graduated from Cabot High School, Arkansas State University and University of Central Arkansas in Conway. Survivors are three sons, Richard Allen Carpenter, II of Hazen, Cortney Dean Carpenter of Little Rock and Richard Dean Carpenter, Jr. of Cabot; one daughter, Tiffiny Ashcraft of Beebe; his parents, Dr. Richard Carpenter and Eldean Screeton Carpenter of McRae; three brothers, Terry Wayne Carpenter of Fayetteville, David Byron Carpenter of Sherwood and Allen Fitzgerald Carpenter of Bangkok, Thailand; one sister, Elizebeth Ann Carpenter of North Little Rock; one grandchild. Family received friends Friday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.

Funeral was Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Westbrook Funeral Home with burial in Sylvania cemetery. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204.

Allen Vaughan Jr.

Allen Vaughan Jr., of Sherwood died Aug. 23, 2004.
He is survived by his parents, Lana and Allen Vaughan, Sr.; his sister, Samantha Tanner; and his grandmother, Dorothy Beason.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 27 at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park on Hwy. 5 in Alexander.

William L. Vaughan Sr.
William L. "Dub" Vaughan Sr., 70, of Lynn, died Feb. 2, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born in Oklahoma, he lived in California, Pennsylvania and Colorado before moving to Lynn several years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a retired electrician and a member of the Rosebud Assembly of God Church at Saffell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Riley and Lola Mae Hamilton Vaughan; and a sister, Arretta Powell.

Survivors include his wife, Kathalene Vaughan; three daughters, Debbie Stevens, Mexico, Mo., Donna Dixon, Pocahontas, and Deanne Vaughan, Maynard; a son, Capt. William Vaughan Jr., USMC Camp Pendelton, Calif.; two stepsons, Joe Capps and Steve Capps, both of Lynn; two stepdaughters, Dianna Richey and Melissa Bristow, both of Lynn; a sister, Norma Davis, Niles, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. in the House-Gregg Chapel with O.D. Winfrey and John Blankenship officiating. Burial was in Old Lebanon cemetery under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Kevin Hoggard, Randy Whitlow, Corky Hunter, Donald Moore, Jerry Matheny and Scott Wright. Honorary pallbearers were Don Winfrey, Dennis Evans, John Paul Blankenship, Jimmy Huskey, Alan Adams and Terry Hicks.

Judy Lynn Richey Counce
Judy Lynn Richey Counce, 49, of Lynn, died Oct. 17, 2005, at her home.

She lived most of her life in Lynn and was a member of the Church of Christ. She had worked for Douglas-Quikut for nine and one-half years before becoming disabled and had been a correspondent for The Times Dispatch, providing the Lynn news.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Hattie Richey; and a brother, J.T. Richey.

Survivors include a brother, Lenwood "Dag" Richey, Prairie Grove; three sisters, Wendolyn Hutson, Powhatan, and Carolyn Penn and Candress Harris, both of Lynn.

Funeral is Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Hillcrest Gymnasium in Lynn with Tim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Old Lebanon cemetery near Lynn under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Hillcrest Gymnasium in Lynn.

Bonnie Crockett
Bonnie Beth Miller Baldwin Coleman Crockett, 66, of Paragould, died Oct. 12, 2005, at her home.

Born at Powhatan, she was retired from her office janitorial service and was a member of Robb's Chapel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Geneva Lingo Miller; a sister; and a brother.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Crockett Sr.; a son, Anthony Coleman; two daughters, Debbie Remagen and Cindy Wigginton, both of Paragould; a stepson, Kenneth Crockett Jr., Joliet, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Kim Conto, Paragould; nine brothers, Bob Miller, Kansas City, Mo., John P. Miller, Edgar Miller, David Miller, Gary Miller and Patrick Miller, all of Paragould, Rick Miller and Bill Miller, both of Lafe, and Jeff Miller, Ash Flat; four sisters, Yvone Martin, Sue Smith, Mary Wilkinson and Sharon Hatcher, all of Paragould; 12 grandchildren, including Cheddy Wigginton, Teddy Wigginton, Coco Davis, Tina Kelley, Sadie Coleman and Tyler Coleman; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Robb's Chapel Baptist Church with John Slatton, Cheddy Wigginton and John P. Miller officiating. Burial was in Greene County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Pallbearers were Ray Bobbitt, Chad White, Thomas Shewmaker, Jamie Adams, Steve Ellenburg and Wes Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Wilkinson and her brothers.

Memorials may be made to Robb's Chapel Baptist Church, West View Baptist Church or to the American Cancer Society.

William R. Robinson

William R. Robinson, 77, of Sherwood, died March 30, 2004.

Bill attended Little Rock Public Schools, Little Rock Jr. College, and University of Arkansas and received his LLB from Arkansas Law School and his Juris Doctorate from UALR. He was a member of the Arkansas Bar Association for over 50 years. A Veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member and Past Master of Western Star Masonic lodge #2 F. & A. M. for over 50 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife, Lorine Heard Robinson; two sons, Tim Robinson of Greenbrier and Chris Robinson of Cabot; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, James Robinson of Malvern; and two sisters, Grace Albertson of Washington and Bess Ambort of Louisiana.

A gathering was held Thursday, April 1, at Griffin-Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home.

Graveside services were Friday, at Rest Hills Memorial Park with Reverend Sam Parker and Western Star #2 Lodge officiating.

Hazel Louise Beck

Hazel Louise Rogers Beck of Sherwood died Tuesday, March 30, 2004. She was 76.

She is survived by Al Beck, her husband of 53 years; children, Ken Beck of Lebanon, Tenn., Don Beck of Russellville, Sherry Walls of Collierville, Tenn., Terry Beck of Sherwood, and Roger Beck of Harvest, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings Jean Mathews, Joyce Harris and Martha Rogers of Pensacola, Fla., Ovie Hollis, Joe Rogers and Jackie Rogers of Woodbury, Tenn., Lynda Strickland of Nashville, Tenn., Joan Bryson of Lebanon, Tenn., Cathy Brandon of Readyville, Tenn., and Mark Rogers of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
She was a member of the Sylvan Hills Church of Christ.

She was buried in the Curlee Church of Christ cemetery in Readyville, Tenn.

Laura Arlene Drew

Laura Arlene Drew, 94, of Sherwood died March 31, 2004.

Survivors include her son, Daniel L. Drew, Jr., of Sherwood; a daughter, Laura B. Drew-Reed of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was a life member of Eastern Star.

Memorials may be made to Nazarene Youth International, Jacksonville Nazarene Church, 1506 N. JP Loop Road, Jacksonville, Ark. 72076.

Funeral service was April 5, at North Little Rock Funeral Home. Interment was in Fairfield, Conn. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Harold Chapman

Harold Kim Chapman, 50, of Sherwood died April 1, 2004.
He was a crane operator by trade.

A memorial service was held Monday, April 5, 2004, at Mercy Cross Church in Sherwood.

Ruth S. Gonzalez

Ruth Simmons Gonzalez, 87, of Sherwood died Saturday, April 3, 2004.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Survivors are five sons, Bob Gonzalez of Diamondhead, Miss.; Jim Gonzalez of Picayune, Miss.; Tony Gonzalez of Sherwood; Mike Gonzalez of Cabot; and Peter T. Gonzalez of Hemet, Calif.; one daughter, Mary Hum of Sherwood; one sister, Maxie Baines of Houston; 32 grandchildren; and 58 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and burial was in Rest Hills Memorial Park. North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge.

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, 7000 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark., 72116.

S.L. “Pat” Kelley

S.L. “Pat” Kelley, age 89, of Sherwood died Monday, April 5, 2004.
He was a retired sheet metal worker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in North Little Rock.

Survivors include a sister, Opal Berryman of Alexander; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10 a.m. in Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Bowery cemetery.

The family requests any memorials be made to Hospice Homecare.

Celeste S. Parish

Celeste Stanley Parish, age 89, died Monday, April 5, 2004, in Sherwood.
She was a retired bookkeeper for R.T. Hickerson, Inc., a member of the Florence Chapter OES in North Little Rock, and a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, North Little Rock. She was also an active worker in Alcoholics Anonymous for almost 25 years.

Her son, Ross Stanley; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren survive her.

Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004, at First Presbyterian Church, North Little Rock, with interment to follow at Edgewood Memorial Park, North Little Rock.

Pat Egly
Pat Egly, 63, of Leoma, Tenn., died Oct. 14, 2005, at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Ardmore, Tenn.

She was the daughter of Clifford Brit and Gladys Whittaker Ramsey, formerly of Walnut Ridge.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Fred Egly; and a brother, Tony Ramsey.

Graveside service was Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park.

Allen Yarberry

Allen Yarberry, 73, of North Little Rock died Sunday. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Yarberry; sons, Rick of Sherwood, Donnie of Scott, Chris of Ico, and David of Benton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Patton of Little Rock, Barbara Dicus of Mayflower, Linda Holleman of Texas; and brothers, Charles and Richard Yarberry of Mississippi. He was a brick mason and commercial fisherman. Huson Funeral Home, Sherwood, was in charge of arrangements.
