Steven Montgomery
Steven Lynn Montgomery, age 52, of Sherwood died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. He received several medals: the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He is survived by his sister, Sharon Pierce of Bryant; and a brother, James Morris Montgomery Jr. of Hawaii.
Graveside services by Ashby Funeral Home were Tuesday at the National Veteran’s cemetery in North Little Rock. The Hot Springs V.F.W. Post #2278 conducted military honors.
Charley S. Tucker
Charley S. Tucker, 88, of Sherwood died Dec. 22, 2003.
He was a retired switchman for Missouri Pacific Railroad and a 55-year Mason with Westwood Lodge #353.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Tucker; son, Donald C. Tucker; daughter, Betty Curvat; three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday at Huson Funeral Home Chapel, Sherwood, with interment in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Inus S. Whorton
Inus S. Whorton, 79, of North Little Rock died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003.
She was employed by Franklin Electric for 37 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Angie Justet of Sherwood and Janice Duncan of Quitman; one sister, Velma Rea of North Little Rock; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Mount Carmel cemetery.
Jamie Lou Cantrell
Jamie Lou Peters Harper Cantrell died Friday Dec. 26, 2003.
She was an occupational therapist and a medical transcriptionist. She was a member of Friendly Chapel Nazarene Church and also a former member of the Arkansas Choral Society.
She is survived by one daughter, Veronica Hope Harper of North Little Rock; her parents, George A. and Ouida Peters Sr. of North Little Rock; one brother George A. Peters Jr. of Shreveport, La.; three sisters, Alice Welsh of Alexander; Carla Smith of Sheridan and Eva Bakalekos of Sherwood.

Funeral services were Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pine Crest Memorial Park in Alexander.
William Daily Brown
William Daily Brown, 70, of Pocahontas, father of Karen Starr of Smithville, died Jan. 27, 2005, at Pocahontas Healthcare & Rehab. Burial was Monday in the Masonic cemetery at Pocahontas under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas.
Donald Long
Donald Long, 69, of Morristown, Tenn., died Feb. 7, 2004.
He is survived by his son, Randy Long of Sherwood; his son, Mitch Long of Jacksonville; three granddaughters; sisters, Alma Couch and Imogene Sykes of Morristown; brother, Billy R. Long of White Pine; sister, Delores Greenlee; and brother, J. C. Long of Morristown.
After a complete career with Fort Roots Veterans Hospital in North Little Rock, he retired to his hometown of Morristown.
Funeral was Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Westside Chapel Funeral Home, with graveside services Wednesday, at Hamblen Memory Gardens in Morristown.
Henry Christopher
Henry M.A. Christopher, age 56, of North Little Rock died Jan. 29, 2004.
Survived by wife, Pamela Christopher; sons, Vernon Butler, Henry Christopher Jr., Marcus Christopher; daughters, Allene O’Neal, Joyce Hall, Alice Christopher, Amanda Christopher, Marilyn Brown, Nettie Williams, Shantana Mitchell; four brothers, Albert, Melvin, L.C. and Lorenzo Christopher ; eight grandchildren.

Elizabeth Sandage
Elizabeth Jane “Granny” Bennett Sandage age 94, died Tuesday, Feb.3, 2004.
She was the widow of Otis Elroy Sandage. She was a retired nurse.
Survivors are three children: Charles Otis Sandage of Oak Island, N.C., Mary Lou Wallace of Sherwood, John Howard Sandage of Middleton, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Service was held at Essex Funeral Home, with burial in DeWitt cemetery.

Jackie Davis, 52, of Little Rock died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004.
He was a manager at Econo Auto Painting.

James Ashberry
James Rufus Ashberry, Major, USAF (Retired), age 84, of Cabot, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004. He is survived by three children, Sharon Ashberry of Nashville, Tenn., James Ashberry of Sherwood, and Tim Ashberry of Sherwood; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; one sister, Helen Poplin of Arlington, Texas. He was a member of the Somers Avenue Church of Christ in North Little Rock. Funeral Service was Feb. 7, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was Feb. 9, at Arkansas State Veterans cemetery.
Elsie Irene Martin
Elsie Irene Martin, 89, of Little Rock died Feb. 8, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Frank Martin; two daughters, Jean Rosenbaum of North Little Rock; and Carol Duplechin of Lafayette, La.; son, Cleve Martin of Sherwood; two grandsons; three granddaughters; brothers, H. Colle Larsen of Little Rock and B.J. Larsen of Pine Bluff; and six great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock, and previously a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Springhill, La., where she was a founding member and active in the Altar Society. A funeral mass was held Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial in Calvary cemetery. Huson Funeral Home, Sherwood, was in charge.

Kirk Lee Allman
Kirk Lee Allman, 43, of Sherwood, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Jodi; his mother, Eva Allman Sims; two sons, Joshua Allman and David Walters; one daughter, Maria Peltier; two sisters, Debra Greeley of Conway and Terri Holland of Alexander; one borther, Brett Allman of Sherwood; three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 13, at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home chapel, followed by interment in Gravel Ridge cemetery. Visitation was Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral Home.
Al Dawson
Thomas (Al) Dawson, 66, of Walnut Ridge, died Jan. 26, 2005, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.
Born Jan. 30, 1938, in Walnut Ridge, he was a former manager of Sterling Store, a salesman for Matthew Oil Company, a former alderman for the City of Walnut Ridge and was of the Baptist belief.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Olen and Mildred Stephens Dawson; and a sister, Janet Wilhelmi.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Rice Dawson, whom he married
June 17, 1956; a son, Gregory A. Dawson, Walnut Ridge; a daughter, Kimberly L. Huckaby, Walnut Ridge; 10 sisters, Jo Ann Karberg, Nancy Groth, Norma Gosa, Sharon Eldridge, Beverly Wilder, Donna Riggle and Brenda Zissler, all of Rockford, Ill., Mary Broadway, Pocahontas, Anna Cargal, Terre Haute, Ind., and Wilma Brewer, Fort Collins, Colo.; three brothers, Jerry Dawson, Powhatan, Jimmy Dawson, Rockford, Ill., and Billy Dawson, Brandon, Miss.; and three grandsons, Shawn Dawson, Brandon Dawson and Blake Snow.
Funeral was Friday at 10 a.m. in Bryan Chapel with Bros. Robbie Hager, Marion Stringer and Chuck Fitzgerald officiating. Burial was in Old Military cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jeff Broadway, Keith Broadway, Carl Rice, Tom Richardson, Ronnie Rice, Bill Brewer, Jody Eldridge, Sonnie Rice and Junior Rice.
James D. Goodson
James D. Goodson, 62, of North Little Rock, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2003.
He served for 24 years in the U.S. Army as a First Sergeant. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Millie Goodson; three children, Steven Goodson, Terry Goodson and Edie Gage; five siblings, Bettye Albrook of Jacksonville, Barbara Hill of Sherwood, Jack and David Goodson of North Little Rock, Mickey Goodson of Raleigh, N.C.; many grandchildren; and stepdaughter, Karen Helmbeck; four stepsons, Lee Pruitt, Russell Pruitt, Bobby Pruitt, Eric Pruitt. A graveside service was held Dec. 8, at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Roller-Owens Funeral Home was in charge.

Elizabeth Ann Surrett, 75 of Benton died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003.
She was a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church and Saline County Senior Citizens Center of Benton.
Survivors are two sons, Ronald Eugene McCall of Bluefield, W.Va., and Richard Allen McCall of Sherwood; one daughter, Ruth Annette Procop of Benton; two grandsons; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one brother, John H. Mark Andrew Gilbert, 33, of Paragould, died Jan. 19, 2005, in Walcott.
Born in Jonesboro, he was a member of Southside Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Nunally.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Gilbert; a son, Corey Gilbert, Paragould; a daughter, Andria Gilbert, Paragould; his father, Bob Gilbert, Portia; his stepfather, John Nunally, Paragould; a brother, Kerry Gilbert, Paragould; two sisters, Brenda Richmond, Powhatan, and Suzanne Ciscell, Paragould; and his grandmother, Lorine Dunn, Walnut Ridge.
Funeral was Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. at Southside Community Church with Rev. Charles Stoddard officiating. Burial was in New Friendship cemetery at Paragould under the direction of Heath Funeral Home.

Betty Joe Grant
Betty Joe Grant, 43, of Sherwood died Feb. 15, 2004.
She is survived by her husband, Jim of Sherwood; two sons, James E. Grant of Okinawa, Japan, and Jeremy B. Grant of Sherwood; a brother, Jimmy Francis of Fayetteville; a sister, Patti Richmond Oswalt; and a granddaughter.
