Richard Zimmerman
Richard "Richie" Zimmerman, 36, of Imboden, died Nov. 25, 2003, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Zimmerman; two sons, Adam Wayne Zimmerman, Wynne, and Jamie Dale Zimmerman, Imboden; his mother and stepfather, Glenda and Jerry Gulley, Bono; his father and stepmother, Melvin and Mary Zimmerman, Cheney, Kan.; four sisters, Dawna Kerr, Little Rock, Judy Collier, Pocahontas, Tammy Zimmerman, Alton, Ill., and Karla Potts, Oklahoma; four brothers, Tommy Swindle, Pocahontas, Neal Zimmerman, Oklahoma, Denver Zimmerman, Mountain Home, and John Zimmerman, Dallas; his grandfather, Virgil Carl Wantland, Hoxie;

Funeral was Sunday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Cox-Waymon Funeral Home of Pocahontas with Paul Craig officiating. Burial was in Chesser cemetery.

Pallbearers were Terry Schadler, Tracey Wolf, Johnny Davis, Charles Pardon, Jeremy Collier and Fred Wantland Jr.

Clarence Armour
Clarence "Jack" Armour, 88, of Cash, died Jan. 27, 2004, at his home.

Born Feb. 28, 1915, in Cash, he lived in Lawrence County for 12 years before moving back to Cash. He was a farmer and was of the Church of Christ belief.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Kelley Armour; a son, David Armour, Batavia, Ill.; three daughters, Jean Downam and Patsy Bryant, both of Bono, and Gayle Stearns, Walnut Ridge; a brother, Fred Armour, Mt. Morris, Mich.; a sister, Onetta Parrish, Manchester, Texas; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Roller-Farmers Union Chapel in Jonesboro with Henry Priest officiating. Burial was in Johnson cemetery under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Holman and Leroy Burden.

Ethel Thompson Carter
Ethel Thompson (Mrs. Wm. T.) Carter, 72, of Desloge, Mo., formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 14, 2003, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Feb. 6, 1931, at Swifton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wm. T. Carter; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Thompson; and a brother, Monroe Thompson.

Survivors include a son, Teddy Niedert of Bonne Terre, Mo.; two grandchildren, Tracy Muskope and Ted Niedert; great-grandson, Seth Patrick; great-granddaughter, Hannah Elise; brother, James R. Thompson of Bowling Green, Ky.; four sisters, Phyllis M. Keaton of Hopkinsville, Ky.; Nancy Richardson of O'Fallon, Ill., Martha Lunsford of Ventura, Calif., and Molly V. Sedrick of Rockford, Ill.

Visitation was at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge with Dr. Doug Elders officiating. Interment was in Parkview cemetery, Farmington, Mo.

Memorials may be directed to the Leukemia Foundation.

Virginia Alene Davis
Virginia Alene Davis, 74, of Jonesboro, died Feb. 2, 2004, at her home.

Born in Alicia, she had lived in the Jonesboro area most of her life. She worked as a nurse's aide and was a member of the Jonesboro congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mable Foley; and a brother.

Survivors include her husband, Carlos Davis; two sons, Danny Davis, Cherry Hills, N.J., and Jeremy Davis, Jonesboro; a daughter, Charlotte Meeker, Jonesboro; two brothers, Charles Foley, Jonesboro, and Zane Foley, Little Rock; three sisters, Levan French and Mattie Bourquin, both of Little Rock, and Neomalee Dowdy, Hopkinsville, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Emily Meeker and Samantha Meeker.

Funeral was Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro with Leslie Langley officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Rick Hansen, Orlester Manning, Tony Barrett, Dudley Owens, Robert McGaha and Alex Hanusowski.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 7320 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.

Wayne Edward Green
Wayne Edward Green, 71, of Warm Springs, died Feb. 8, 2004.

Born at Hoxie, he worked as a heavy equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joshua Lonso and Martha Elizabeth Ball Green; two sons; a granddaughter; and five brothers.

Survivors include four sons, Billy Dale Green and Lafe Green, both of Pocahontas, Richard Wayne Green, Black Rock, and Wayne Edward Feyges, Warm Springs; two daughters, Bonnie Sue Kohrman, Warm Springs, and Connie Jean Green, Pocahontas; a sister, Virginia Moore, Warm Springs; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is today at 10 a.m. at Warm Springs cemetery with James Fry officiating. McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas has charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Richie Green, Jason Green, Sammie Green, Brady Green, James Green and Randy Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Green and Tim Green.

Lonnell Holt
Lonnell Holt, 74, of Hardy, sister of Verlon Holt of Strawberry, died Feb. 8, 2004, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem. Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. J.W. Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Gardens at Rochelle, Ill. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of the service.

Mary Richards
Mary Richards, 72, of Corning, sister of Elmo Foster of Walnut Ridge, died Feb. 3, 2004, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Burial was in Black's cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home of Corning.

Jennie Ballard Richey
Jennie Ballard Richey, 91, of Warrenton, Mo., formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Feb. 9, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, Mo.

Born at Portia, she lived in Michigan for three years and in St. Louis for 23 years before moving back to Walnut Ridge. She moved back to the St. Louis area in 1997. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Richey, in 1988; and two sisters, Lola Graham and Pearl Doyle.

Survivors include two sons, Ron Richey, Wentzville, Mo., and Bob Richey, Jupiter, Fla.; four sisters, Minnie Goodwin, Charlotte, N.C., Juanita Holder, New Port Richey, Fla., Ermaneal Martin, Flint, Mich., and Clara Kennedy, Walnut Ridge; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral is Thursday at 11 a.m. in the House-Gregg Chapel with Dr. Jim Tillman officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Lavern Richey, Cloyce Richey, Paul Meyer, Tim Richey, Roger Goodwin and Don Tennison.

Visitation is this evening from 5:30 to 8 at the funeral home.

Andrew Jackson Rousey
Andrew Jackson Rousey, 79, of Stockton, Calif., died Feb. 1, 2004.

Born Jan. 24, 1925, in Swifton, he was a walking boss and longshoreman for the Port of Stockton for 42 years. He was a 32nd degree KCCH Mason and a past master of Morningstar Lodge #68 F & AM, a past wise master of the Stockton Chapter of Rose Croix in the Stockton Scottish Rite Bodies, a past patron of Stockton Chapter #373 OES, past president of Stockton High Twelve Club served on the Advisory Board of Stockton #9 Rainbow for Girls, where he received the Grand Cross of Color. He has 8,000 volunteer hours with St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Alene Rousey.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Rousey, Stockton, and Michael Rousey, Acampo, Calif.; a daughter, Gloria E. Rousey-Seidel, Petaluma, Calif.; a brother, Frank Rousey, Illinois; three sisters, Marie Booth, Tennessee, and Wanda Shands and Imogene Rousey, both of Arkansas; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, Calif. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home of Lodi had charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 207 E. Alpine Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.

Bernice Bryant Simpson
Bernice Bryant Simpson, 91, of Batesville, formerly of Black Rock, died Feb. 2, 2004, at a Batesville hospital.

Born May 12, 1912, in Black Rock, she was the daughter of Thomas A. Bryant and Flora Mae Clark. She was a homemaker and a member of the Black Rock Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grayson Simpson; a brother, Charles Bryant and a sister, Mary Parks.

Survivors include a daughter, Kay Simpson, Richmond, Va.; a son, Charles Grayson Simpson, Silver Springs, Md.; a sister, Audria Howe, Searcy; and two grandchildren, Thomas Grayson Simpson and Yelena Kathryn Simpson.

Graveside service was Saturday at 1 p.m. at Oaklawn cemetery at Batesville under the direction of Willis-Hays Funeral Service of Batesville.

Mary Elizabeth Sullinger
Mary Elizabeth Sullinger, 84, of O'Kean, died Feb. 4, 2004, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

She was the daughter of Thomas and Ida V. Taylor Price.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Dean; her second husband, Dave Sullinger; two sons, O'Neal Dean and Virgil Dean; two brothers and a grandson.

Survivors include two sons, James Dean, Paragould, and Johnnie Dean, Doniphan, Mo.; two stepsons, Jeff Sullinger, Paragould, and Doyne Sullinger, Texas; four stepdaughters, Pat Taylor, Lafe, Judy Niswonger, Knobel; Bonnie Crawford, Forrest City, and Evelyn Felkins, Jonesboro; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas with Melvin Shelton officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Gardens.
