Floy Passmore

Floy Passmore, 85, of Bono, died April 13, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Jonesboro.

Born in Leslie, she had lived in Bono most of her life and was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Passmore; four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Edna Holder, Bono, Madge Scalf, Paragould, and Martie Mae Allen, Alicia; four sons, Lester Randolph Passmore Jr. and Bobby "Jake" Passmore, both of Bono, Jimmy Dale Passmore, Hoxie, and Donald Ray "Joe" Passmore, Jonesboro; a sister, Joetta Scott, California; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Monday at 3:30 p.m. in Trinity cemetery with Bill Thornton officiating. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Donald Rieder

Donald Rieder, 77, of Walnut Ridge, died April 9, 2003, at V.A. Medical Center in Memphis.

Born in Wisconsin, he had lived in California and Illinois before moving to Walnut Ridge nine years ago. He was a retired electrical engineer and World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Rieder; two daughters, Judy Lindsey, Basalt, Colo., and Kathy Kildow, Walnut Ridge; a son, Jason Marik, Walnut Ridge; a nephew, Ronnie Bowen, Rockford, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services were Saturday at 2 p.m. at Crossroads cemetery near Portia with Ted Shields officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Irene Pearl Smith Roberts

Irene Pearl Smith Roberts, 82, of Hot Springs, died April 14, 2003, at her home. Funeral is Thursday at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Ida. Graveside services will be Thursday at 5 p.m. at Oak Forest cemetery in Black Rock.

Laurel Ardean Schrupp

Private services for Laurel "Larry" Ardean Schrupp, 78, of Imboden, who died April 8, 2003, will be at Bryan Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at Wilwood cemetery in Rockford, Ill., with local arrangements by Bryan Funeral Home.

H.L. Stephenson

H.L. Stephenson, 82, died April 14, 2003, at Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.

Born July 3, 1920, in Dyersburg, Tenn., he was the son of Homer Lloyd and Eula Eason Stephenson. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Teamsters.

He was preceded in death by a sister and six brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Erma "Dale" Massey Stephenson; four sons, Rick Stephenson, Sarasota, Fla., Terry Stephenson, Harrison, Mich., Timothy Stephenson, Lexington, Ky., and Mark Stephenson, Alabama; a daughter, Susan Stevens, Sarasota, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. in Bryan Chapel. Burial will be in Old Lebanon cemetery, near Lynn, under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Visitation is this evening from 6 to 8.

Mitchell Lynn White

Mitchell Lynn White, 23, of Imboden, died April 12, 2003.

Born July 28, 1979, in Pocahontas, he was the son of James Allen and Deborah Lynn Malone White.

Survivors include his parents; four brothers, Shawn Allen White, Fort Lewis, Wash., James Shannon White, Ravenden Springs, Chris Anthony White, Swifton, and Timothy Ryan White, Imboden; his grandparents, Herbert and Gladys Malone, Imboden, and grandmother, Mickie Harris, Texas.

Funeral was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Jerry Clements officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove cemetery at Annieville under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were Shawn White, Ryan White, Shannon White, Chris White, Paul Mullen and Wayne Lee. Honorary pallbearers were Shayne Malone, Russell Malone, Gordon Bice and Luke Clay.

Sloan Whitlow

Sloan Whitlow, 52, of Pocahontas, died April 11, 2003, at his home.

Born near Strawberry, he lived in Oklahoma before moving to Pocahontas 20 years ago. A Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a self-employed mechanic and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. and Lillie Drury Whitlow; a brother, Charles; and a son, Jake Harner.

Survivors include his wife, Louise McCameron Whitlow; a daughter, Rosetta Carol Walker, Rogers; two sons, Robert Sloan Whitlow, Rogers, and Dennis Eugene Barrett Whitlow; Pocahontas; a brother, Billy Bob Whitlow, Pocahontas; five sisters, Rachel Willie Mae Jones and Phyllis Rena Jones, both of Smithville, Genell Miller, Stanbury, Mo., Carolyn Ann Willett, Black Rock, and Lanetta Rose Norwood, Pocahontas; and four grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday at 1 p.m. in the House-Gregg Chapel at Lynn with Jim Smith and Cindy Riley officiating. Burial was in Dry Creek cemetery at Lynn under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Lynn.

Pallbearers were Jerry Gilliam, Fred Headley, Gene Lucy, Eugene Housdon, Carl Durham, Charles Durham, Larry Taylor and Jerry Smith. Honorary pallbears were Pete Massey, Jerry Massey and Gene Virgin.

Bessye Jo Austin
Bessye Jo Austin, 75, of Jonesboro, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 2, 2003, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Sept. 12, 1928, she worked at General Electric Company in Jonesboro for 10 years and was a member of the Methodist church in Portia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Willard "Peck" Austin, on May 25, 1982, whom she married in Pocahontas; her parents, Everette Jennings and Vivian Beatrice DeArman; and a brother, James Hamilton DeArman II.

Survivors include a son, Greg Austin, Dyersburg, Tenn.; two daughters, Carolyn Rudder and Georgia Allison, both of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Tim Allison, Steve Allison, Ashlea Rudder, Bailey Austin and Jacob Austin; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Monday at 1 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park with Tommy Toombs officiating. Higginbotham Funeral Service had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Tim Allison, Gary Rudder, Steven Allison, Greg Austin and Ed Parker.

Ronald Lewis Boydston
Ronald Lewis Boydston Sr., 53, of Gosnell, died Oct. 1, 2003, at his home.

Born in Walnut Ridge, he was a retired welder and machinist at Nibco.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Lewis and Thelma Francis Loyd Boydston.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Lewis Boydston Jr., Blytheville, and James Scott Boydston, Bonaire, Ga.; two daughters, Melinda Obermeyer, Colorado, and Stacy Lynn Boydston Rice, Pikeville, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Krista Rush, Gosnell; a sister, Cindy Boydston Connell, Blytheville; and nine grandchildren, Tija Anderson, Matthew Anderson, David Obermeyer, Christopher Obermeyer, Christopher Boydston, Rafe Rice Jr., Leigha Rush, Justin Buxton and Madison Rush.

Graveside service was Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion cemetery in Steele, Mo., with Rev. Jerry Flagg officiating. Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville had charge of arrangements.

Lillian Duckworth
Lillian Duckworth, 87, of Jonesboro, formerly of Black Rock, died Oct. 4, 2003, at her home.

Born at Askov, Minn., she lived in Jonesboro 47 years. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse who worked at St. Bernards's Medical Center and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard E. Duckworth.

Survivors include two sons, Bernard M. Duckworth, Germany, and Clarence Duckworth, Heflin, Ala.; two daughters, Sharon Walker, Jonesboro, and Janet Faulkner, Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Clarence Jorgensen, Chaska, Minn.; and 10 grandchildren, Phillip Duckworth, Sarah Duckworth, Tamara Duckworth, Terri Cleary, Lana Robinson, Dennis Duckworth, Tim Walker, Shane Walker, Nicole Cousins and Heath Faulkner.

Funeral was Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Gregg Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Dwyn Mounger officiating. Burial was in Oak Forest cemetery at Black Rock.

Pallbearers were Jim Walker, Tim Walker, Shane Walker, Richard Faulkner, Mike Eaton and Marty Eaton.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis or the Arkansas Sheriff's Boys and Girl's Ranch.
