Jean O. Kottmer, 80, of Ozark died Sunday, March 20, 2005, in an Ozark hospital. She was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Jethro community to William Anderson Brooks and Myrtle Patrick. She was a property manager for Public Storage, a member of Ozark First United Methodist Church, a member of V.F.W., wrote the “Coley Addition” for the Spectator.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with the Rev. Ron Newberry officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Kottmer of Ozark; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Tyson of Haslet, Texas; a nephew, Gary Salafia of Ensenada, Mexico; grandchildren, Matthew Tyson and wife, Sarah and their children, Kinsey Tyson and Kathryn Tyson of Keller, Texas, Faira Adolphs and husband, Wade, and their child, Megan Adolphs of Haltom City, Texas.

Randy “Pandy” Tankersley Jr., 28, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was the manager of Leisure Coach.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Mountain View cemetery in Hackett under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Brenda and David Mills of Bonanza; his father, Randall Tankersley Sr. of Fort Smith; a brother, Brian Tankersley of Fort Smith; a stepsister, Chanda Kuykendall of Fort Smith; a stepbrother, Ryan Mills of California; maternal grandparents, Bob and Mary Jones of Bonanza; paternal grandmother, Ruby Lea Cunningham of Fort Smith; uncle, Rick Jones of Bonanza; and a cousin, Craig Jones of Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Sheldon Boyd, Lenny Cooper, Chad Mayes, Mike Opolka, James Slaten and Brent McBride.
Honorary pallbearers will be A.C. Cooper, Ron Pierson, Larry Redfern, Cole Coleklineline, Steven Spradling, Andy Pipkin and Matt Howard.

Nancy Liotta Summers
Nancy Liotta Summers, 90, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be today at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial to follow at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Summers of Barling; and her son, Richard Summers and his wife Peggy also of Barling; two grandchildren, Stephanie Smith and Natalie Wise; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Endowment Fund of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Jay W. Jones
Jay W. Jones, 87, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in Fort Smith. Mr. Jones was born Nov. 7, 1917, in Paragould. He attended public schools in Fort Smith and was a graduate of Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State) University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Edsilon Fraternity. He married Lee Crossman Jones in 1941 and was preceded by her death in 1991.
Mr. Jones served as a combat engineer for the Army Seventh Calvary Division during the Korean Conflict and as an instructor during World War II. He was discharged with the rank of major. He was a 30-year employee of the Dixie Cup Division of the American Can Corp., where he worked as plant engineer and fire safety/fire suppression engineer.
He was an active elder, church school teacher, and choir member at the First Christian, Disciples of Christ Church of Fort Smith. After retiring he played several roles at the Fort Smith Little Theatre, including the role of “Pa” in 1900s production of “Grapes of Wrath.” He was a volunteer tutor for Adult Literacy.
He was a loving father to three children, Dana K. Bagshaw of Oadby, England, Jay R. Jones of Rockville, Md., and Ralph J. Jones of Hackensack, N.J. He was the grandfather of five and great-grandfather of four.
A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church of Fort Smith on Thursday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. Private burial will be at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home today from 5 to 7 p.m.

Hilda Anhalt
Hilda Anhalt, 95, of New Blaine died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in Charleston. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church and Mother’s Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Mary Lensing Anhalt; sisters, Katie, Rose, Margaret, Helen and Julia; brothers, George and John Anhalt; nephew, Ed Ward.
Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. today at Scholastica Catholic Church in Shoal Creek.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Shoal Creek with burial at St. Scholastica cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris. (rollerfuneralhomes.com)
She is survived by a sister, Amelia LeBlanc of Charleston; nieces, Margaret Willems, Mary White, Lucy Morrow, Barbara Friga, Terry McPhillips of New Blaine, Alice Schluterman of Paris, Janie Mertin of Midway, Evelyn Walls of North Little Rock; nephews, Pat Ward, Charles Anhalt, Thomas Anhalt, Gregory Friga and Edmond Friga of New Blaine, Ed Anhalt of Little Rock, Leo Anhalt and Martine Anhalt of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers: Pat Ward, Tom Anhalt, Pat McPhillips, Charles Anhalt, Ed Friga and Martine Anhalt.
Honorary pallbearers: Pee Wee Schluterman and Leo Anhalt.

Rebecca Ann Dodd
Rebecca Ann Dodd, 27, of Van Buren died Tuesday, March 25, 2005, in a local hospital. She was a resident of Van Buren, of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by Timothy Nelson, father of Ranie Nelson.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 25, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Mount McCurry cemetery in Rudy under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Ranie Nelson of Van Buren; a son, Jermy Dodd of Van Buren; parents, Janie and Harold Dodd of Van Buren; paternal grandparents, Roy and Thomasine Nelson of Van Buren; several nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers: Robert Overby, Donnie Childers, Carl Childers, Mike Childers, John Phillips and Ricky Dickens.

Lorraine Louise Medlen
Lorraine Louise Medlen, 97, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was a retired civil servant of Fort Chaffee and Barksdale Air Force Base. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Uplifters Sunday school class, a charter member of the Fort Smith Chapter of Rainbow Girls, the Grand Cross of Colors, Eastern Star, former member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, Business and Professional Women, life member of the PTA and charter member of the Methodist Village Auxiliary.
She is survived by one son, Jay David Medlen of Vass, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Medlen.
Graveside services will be Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Forest Park cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 220 N. 15th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Gudrun Pomrenke
Gudrun Pomrenke, 74, of Fort Smith passed away Monday, March 21, 2005. She was born Aug. 3, 1930, in Pirmasens, Germany, to the late Freidrich and Ella Wilhelm. She originally came to the United States from Germany in March of 1963 and had been a Fort Smith resident since 1969. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Fort Smith. Having retired from Wal-Mart, she was a homemaker and a loving caregiver to her grandchildren and her husband. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother “Oma” and a wonderful friend. Having touched so many lives, her memory will be that of someone able to give unconditional love and a woman loved by so many.
She is survived by her two sons, Gunter F. Hauck of Oberkirsch, Germany, and Dr. Gernot S. Pomrenke of Manasses, Va.; her daughter and son-in-law, Ute and Bill French, both of Fort Smith; her daughter, Michaela P. Whitton of Centennial, Colo.; one sister, Inge Jung of Pirmasens, Germany; and grandchildren, Stefan, Andrea and Erik Pomrenke, Kristin and Alexander Swanson, Michael French, Taylor and Hannah Whitton; and two stepgrandchildren, Jenny and Manuel Bauche. She also leaves behind numerous beloved relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Karl R. Pomrenke; and her brother-in-law, Heinrich Jung.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 25, 2005, at 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church followed by burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Stefan Pomrenke, Michael French, Alexander Swanson, Louis Beltan, Don Trammell and Tom Golden.
The family will visit with friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Thursday, March 24, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m.

CHARLESTON — Ronnie Merritt, 45, of Charleston died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in his home. He was a truck driver, a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Charleston and the Masonic Lodge.
A Masonic service was held Tuesday. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, La., with burial at Pine Community cemetery in Franklinton, La.
He is survived by six sisters, Ann Osborne of Williams, Minn., Sue Stogner of Bogalusa, Joyce and Anita Magee, both of Pine, La., Judy Robinson and Donna Alford, both of Folsom; and four brothers, James, Charles, Ray and Donnell Merritt, all of Pine, La.

OZARK — Myrtle Woolsey, 101, of Ozark died Sunday, March 20, 2005, in Ozark. She was born Sept. 3, 1903, in Cass. She was a homemaker, a member of Ozark First United Methodist Church, a graduate of Draughon’s Business School in Little Rock and the widow of Mark Woolsey.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Highland cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by a daughter, Pat Stansbery of Russellville.

Dixie Robertson
Dixie Ann Price Robertson, 79, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Mulberry. She was a former saleslady for Sear and Hunts, a member of First United Methodist Church in Mulberry and the Women’s Circle.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Mulberry with burial at New cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Obie; two daughters, Marcia Henson and Tammie Bowen, both of Fort Smith; a son, Stan Robertson of St. Louis; a sister, Phyllis Denniston of Alma; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David and Ward King, Drake Robertson, David Bowen, Bill and Andrew Henson, Ricky Denniston and Fred Hartsfield.

William Holt Jr.
BETHESDA — William “Jack” Clarence Holt Jr., 67, of Bethesda died Sunday, March 20, 2005, in his home. He was born June 1, 1937, in Alma. He was a farmer and a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at Alma cemetery under the direction of Willis-Hays Funeral Service of Batesville.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; six daughters, Sarah Tracy of Cabot, Rhonda Kuykendall of Sallisaw, Vera Day and Sheila Miller, both of Okmulgee, Okla., Juainta Kennedy of Pocola and Peggy Holt of Bethesda; three sons, William Holt of Bethesda, Brian Holt of Sallisaw and Jeffrey Holt of Fort Smith; a sister, Juainta Burgeitt of Fort Smith; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. at the cemetery.
