Bessie McWilliams, 93, of Van Buren died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was the retired manager of Westark College Bookstore and Cafeteria, a member of First United Methodist Uplifters Sunday school class in Fort Smith, and the widow of B.W. McWilliams.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roselawn cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Dottie Kimes of Fort Smith; a sister, Corrine Rains of Fort Smith; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bettie Burton
Bettie Sue Burton, 63, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by her mother, Irene Burton of Fort Smith; two sisters, Gail Burton of Fort Smith and Patsy Cook of Muldrow; three brothers, David Burton of Fort Smith, Donnie Burton of Roland, and Johnnie Burton of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
Edna Sheldon
MANSFIELD — Edna Gail Sheldon, 64, of Mansfield died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, in her home. She was a homemaker and the widow of Albert Peterson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Coop Prairie Church in Mansfield with burial at Mountain View cemetery in Hackett under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by four daughters, Juanita Boyd of Magazine, Richelle Ascott of Branson, Mo., Missy Sheldon of Huntington, and Windy Roberts of Mansfield; five sons, Keith and Ryan Peterson, both of Mansfield, Jason Sheldon and Johnny Turner, both of Huntington, and Kenny Peterson of Van Buren; three sisters, Grace Andrews and Juanita Thirwell, both of Torrington, Wyo., and Charlotte Lissman of Boulder, Colo.; three brothers, Bruce Carter of Morrill, Neb., Doug Carter of Gering, Neb., and Darold Carter of Scotts Bluff, Neb.; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Lottie Mae Droke
Lottie Mae Droke, 77, of Hot Springs died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in a local hospital. Born Dec. 1, 1927, in Glenwood to William and Chessie J. Long Jester, she was a member of the Day Lily Society, Order of Eastern Star and Apostolic Faith Tabernacle Church.
She was predeceased by her parents; her son, Randall Dale Droke; and two brothers, John and Luther Jester.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Randall Droke of Hot Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Alvin Bessent and Sue and Jimmy Bruso, all of Fort Smith; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Roy Jester of Hot Springs and Sherman and Ola Mae Jester of Gurdon; a sister, Helen Gordon of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Alvin Bessent Jr., Phillip Bessent, Jimmy Dale Bruso and wife Pamela and Jan Bruso; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron Bruso, Katlyn Bruso and Camey Bruso.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Apostolic Faith Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Dennis Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Mount Tabor cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
Delcie Mae East
Delcie Mae East, 96, of Norco, Calif., passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, in Norco, Calif. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert East; brother, Lester Spangler; and nephew, Bruce Spangler.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Roselawn cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, Anita Peterson of Norco, Calif.; one granddaughter, Leta Johnson of Anaheim, Calif.; one niece, Rita Dillard of Fort Smith; one nephew, Keith Spangler of Fort Smith.
Viewing will be today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
George Bowman
George Bowman, 61, of Van Buren died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, in a local hospital. He was a retired truck driver for Carman Inc.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Myriah Bowman of the home and Kendra Bowman of Florida; a son, David Bowman of Pine Bluff; two stepsons, Jeffrey Braden of Florida and Greg Braden of Mountain Home; four sisters, Alice Bullard, Carol Baker and Deloris Reeves, all of Concord, and Connie Callaway of Troy, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

DYER — Carl Bentley Edgar, 81, of Dyer died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Coal Hill. He was a retired farmer, an Army veteran, of the Pentecostal faith and the widower of Jewell Edgar.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with burial at Dyer cemetery in Dyer.
He is survived by three daughters, Peggy Foster, Jewell Barber and Melinda Hale, all of Alma; three sons, Carl, William and Davey Edgar, all of Alma; two sisters, Florence Chandler of Rudy and Emma Mooney of Mississippi; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allen Shelton, Benny Barber, Mark Shepherd, Allen Edgar, Ricky Chandler, Charles Brumley and J.C. Shipp. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.

LAVACA — Don Rowe, 67, of Lavaca died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in a local hospital. He was born June 22, 1937, in Seminole, Okla. He worked for Stephens Production and Chick-Fil-A, was an Army veteran and a member of First Baptist Lavaca.
Funeral will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Lavaca with burial at Mayberry cemetery in Central City under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Lavaca.
He is survived by is wife, Theresa; a daughter, Don Bickett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, Clayton Rowe of Spiro; a stepdaughter, Cindy McMahan of Poteau; four stepsons, Jerry Schalski of Texas, Douglas Schalski of Fort Smith, J.J. Quinn of the home and Paul Quinn of Atwater, Calif.; a sister, Jessie Edwards of California; seven brothers, Stormy and Gary Rowe, both of Oregon, Levon and John Rowe, both of California, Jackie Rowe of Texas, Leon Rowe of Missouri and Bill Rowe of Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Scott Gordon, Mike Sutton, Nathan Jent, David and John Mathes, and Jason Shipley.

PARIS — Raymond Lewis “Ray” Kleck, 69, of Paris died Thursday, March 3, 2005, in Paris. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris with burial at St. Joseph cemetery in Paris.
He is survived by two brothers, William Kleck of Paris and Tom Kleck of Little Rock.
Pallbearers will be Joe, Mark and Tommy Kleck Jr., Bobby Forst, Wes Powell and Alan Teague.
Ronnie Donelson
BARLING — Ronnie Gene Donelson, 70, of Barling, formerly of Casa Grande, Ariz., died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in a local hospital. He was a retired auto mechanic.
No service is scheduled. Cremation is under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by three daughters, Rhonda, Karen and Tonie, all of California; his mother, Jetta Donelson of Van Buren; a brother, Kenneth Donelson of Van Buren; and four grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ruby Clark
RUSSELLVILLE — Ruby N. Clark, 90, of Russellville, formerly of Clinton, died Thursday, March 3, 2005. She was a bookkeeper, a member of D.A.R., the AARP, the Van Buren County Historical Society, of the Methodist faith and the widow of Walter Clark.
Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by a sister, Reba Hudson of Russellville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Van Buren County Historical Society or Pope County Senior Citizens.
George Banther
George R. Banther, 79, of Fort Smith died Thursday, March 3, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a retired history teacher for the Van Buren Public School System, held a master’s degree in history from the University of Arkansas, a member of the AARP, the Arkansas Education Association, the National Education Association, of the Methodist faith and the widower of Robin Banther.
No formal service will be held. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fentress Mortuary.
He is survived by a daughter, Robin Banther of Fort Smith.
Martin E. Chapin
Martin E. Chapin, 76, of Fort Smith passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, in a local hospital. He was a retired ship’s serviceman first class from the Navy and a retired cab driver for Razorback Cab, where he worked for 30 years. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Jo Chapin and Bobby Charles Chapin.
Burial of cremains will be 1 p.m. today at U.S. National cemetery with full military honors under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by a daughter, Jammie Spangler of Fort Smith; one sister, Marcella Robertson of Fort Smith; one brother, Marvin Chapin of Lavaca; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mildred F. Loyd
Mildred F. Loyd, 70, of Van Buren died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, in a local hospital. She was a longtime member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, a lifelong resident of Crawford County and a retired grocery store employee for the Co-op and Apple Mart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Kate Owens.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Van Buren with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Debra Bridges of Fort Smith; a son, Randy Loyd of Van Buren; two sisters, Ollie Mae Farrar of Van Buren and Wanda Lou Thomas of Alma; a brother, Jack Owens of Van Buren; and four grandchildren, Heather and Chris Bridges of Fort Smith and Desirae and Brooklyn Loyd of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy and Gary Bowen, Carol and Terry McClure, David Crabtree, Leonard Huff and Bob and Garry Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Oak Grove Baptist Church and Jay Rainwater, Bud Lollis and Dale Moore.

Carmelita Sicard Echols
Carmelita Sicard Echols died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in her home. She was born on Jan. 20, 1906, in Fort Smith to A.N. and Ella Sicard. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Fort Smith and a graduate of The College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, N.Y.
She is survived by her son Mont S. Echols Jr.; daughter-in-law Ann of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Mont S. Echols III and wife Juli of New Orleans, Elizabeth Echols of Columbia, Mo., Katherine Ahrens and her husband Mark of Atlanta and Michael Echols of Fort Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Courtney, Ashley and Thomas Echols, Mont S. Echols IV, and Molly, Ella, Claire and Lillie Ahrens; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. McLoud Sicard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mont S. Echols, and her brother, McLoud Sicard.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at Christ the King Catholic Church. By family request, there will be a private family interment in Calvary cemetery following the Mass.
Pallbearers will be Allen Baker, William Buergler, William Eads, Birnie Harper, Daniel Roebuck, Sam M. Sicard, Douglas Smith and Ewell Lee.
