Edith Elaine Jameson
Edith Elaine Jameson, 98, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in Van Buren. She was born Nov. 6, 1906, in Cavanaugh, the second of 10 children born to Roy and Nell Vanderburg Van Cleave. Much of her youth was spent in the Ursula Community near Charleston. She was a long-time member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and of the Jolly Travelers senior adult group.
She is survived by a daughter, Cleta and her husband, Bill Terrell of Hackett; a son, Clifton and his wife, Wilma Jameson of Van Buren; six grandchildren, Rob and Della Jameson, Lynne and Roger Graham of Van Buren, Elaine Terrell of Prairie Grove, John Terrell and Mary Terrell of Fort Smith and Sarah and Burt Stover of Pocola; six great-grandchildren, Chandler, Clay and Cassidy Graham of Van Buren, Charity Jameson of Greenwood, and Jared and Jack Stover of Pocola; two sisters, Irma Inklebarger of Barling and Wanda Tollenaar of Clyde, Alberta, Canada; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Jameson; her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be today at 1 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Roselawn cemetery, all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Avenue Baptist Church, 921 N. 39th, Fort Smith, AR 72904.

Christine Klimpt
JOPLIN — Christine M. Klimpt, 92, of Joplin died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born March 26, 1912, in Morrison Bluff. She was a homemaker, a cafeteria manager at St. Peter’s Grade School, a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the St. Peter’s Altar Society.
Funeral Mass was held Thursday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with burial at Mount Hope cemetery under the direction of Thornhill & Dillon Mortuary of Joplin.
She is survived by her husband, Albert; a daughter, Jane Dapron of Carrollton, Ky.; two sons, John Klimpt of Henderson, Texas, and William Klimpt of Webb City, Mo.; a sister, Margaret Schlag of Fort Smith; six brothers, John, Greg, George, Jerome and R. Pat Meyers, all of Fort Smith, and Joe Meyers of St. Paul, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Bryan Rye
PARIS — Bryan “Rooster” Rye, 39, of Paris died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born June 22, 1965, in Van Buren.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca.
He is survived by his wife, Teri; a daughter, Courtney of Florida; a stepdaughter, Devin Fuller of Muldrow; his mother Vivian Reather and stepfather, Damon Reather of Lavaca; two sisters, Tammy Johnson of Fort Smith and Amelia Graham of Alma; a brother, Ken Newberry of Hackett; a halfsister, Amy Rye of Mountainburg; and maternal grandmother, Ruby Kiser of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Ron Hardesty, Brian Armstrong, Scott Cook, Jim Cockrell, Dave Martin and Tommy Campbell.
The body may be viewed 2 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Game & Fish Commission.

Randall Crow
Randall Crow, 89, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a telephone salesperson for Clear Communications in Fort Smith, a veteran of the Army and a member of First United Methodist Church in Charleston. He was the widower of Lena Crow.
Graveside service will be held at a later date under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.

Miranda Carter
OZARK — Miranda Louise Carter, 28, of Ozark died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in Ozark. She was born July 25, 1976, in Fort Smith. She was employed at Emmapak & Excel Food Solutions in Booneville and a member of Bread of Life Fellowship Church in Ozark.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bread of Life Fellowship Church under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by her mother, Linda Alston of Ozark; her father and stepmother, Robert and Shelly Carter of Pleasant View Community; two brothers, Ryan and Andrew Carter, both of Waxahachie, Texas; maternal grandparents, James and Wanda Ford of Cecil; and paternal grandmother, Louise Carter of Ozark.
The body may be viewed 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Charlene Manckiy
Charlene Manckiy, 78, of Greenwood died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Manckiy.
Survivors include one daughter, Pam Manckiy of Pocola; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie Sr. and Jessie Manckiy of Greenwood; a grandson, Johnnie Manckiy Jr.; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Serena and Reed Adams and great-granddaughter Aliyah Adams, all of Greenwood; and one sister, Ruby McLemore of Booneville.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Edwards Funeral Home chapel with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will visit with relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home.

Maturah J. Bonnie Hassler
Maturah J. Bonnie Hassler, 74, of Fort Smith passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Fort Smith and was a member of the Presentation Circle at Christ The King. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Virginia Weindel, and an infant brother, Weiss Weindel.
She married her husband, Joe Gene Hassler, on May 21, 1956. She was a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell in Fort Smith and moved to Indianapolis in 1957, where the family lived for 44 years and returned to Fort Smith in 2001. Her husband was a stereotyper-pressman for the Indianapolis newspaper for 37 years.
Rosary service will be 6:30 p.m. Monday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ The King Catholic Church in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Gene Hassler; one son, Steven Hassler of Indianapolis; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Jude Hassler of Fort Smith; nieces Cindy and husband Keith Larkin, Virginia Huffstetler and Rebekah Hassler; nephew Michael and wife Meghan Hassler; one cousin, Wanda Huffstutter; great nephews Joshua Huffstetler serving in Iraq, Jacob and B.J. Huffstetler and Blake Larkin.
Pallbearers will be Mike Hassler, Keith Larkin, Jacob Huffstetler, B.J. Huffstetler, Bob Shultz, Frank Hug, George Sloan and Bill Tucker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Huffstetler, Blake Larkin and the nursing home eucharistic ministers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ The King Catholic Church, 1920 S. Greenwood Road, Fort Smith AR 72901, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 320 N. Greenwood Road, Fort Smith AR 72901.

Hazel Lou Martin
Hazel Lou Martin, 80, of Fort Smith died Dec. 29, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and member of Spradling Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard Martin of the home; two daughters, Geraldine Falleur of Mudrow and Susan Gilstrap of Fort Smith; three sons, William “Bill” Martin of Greenwood, Jack Martin of Fort Smith and Jonathan Martin of Greenwood; one sister, Erma Johnson of Fort Smith; two brothers, W.T. “Dub” Johnson of Van Buren and Bobby Gene Johnson of Fort Smith; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Spradling Baptist Church with burial to follow at Barling City cemetery, all under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Joe Falleur, Mark Falleur, Keith Falleur, Brunchel Gilstrap, Brett Gilstrap and Richard Gilstrap.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to Peachtree Hospice, 4300 Rogers Ave., Fort Smith AR 72901.

Donald Eugene Blunier
Donald Eugene Blunier, 74, of Fort Smith died Dec. 28, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired 7-Eleven clerk and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Babb of Fort Smith and Bethany Nunes of Sallisaw; three sons, Michael Blunier of Mishawaka, Ind., Bruce Blunier of Coloma, Mich., and Brett Blunier of Eauclaire, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Private interment will be at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith at a later date. The body will be cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Sherry Mae Williams
Sherry Mae Williams, 50, of Fort Smith went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, in her home. She was born May 5, 1954, in Nashville, the daughter of B.L. and Jewell Holder. She was a homemaker, a member of First United Methodist Church and the Friends Sunday School Class and a loving wife, mother and daughter. She had a warm smile and was hospitable.
She is survived by her loving husband, J. Williams of the home; one son, Jason Williams of Fort Smith; her father, B.L. Holder of Fort Smith; one brother, Charles Holder of Fort Smith; and a host of friends and relatives.
Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Jewell Holder.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith, officiated by the Rev. William A. Cheyne, with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

Serena Nielsen
BOONEVILLE — Serena Margaret Nielsen, 94, of Booneville died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born Feb. 2, 1910, in Ratcliff. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Parks cemetery in Charleston.
She is survived by three daughters, Frances Kinard of Tupelo, Miss., Katherine Cart of Lafayette, La., and Cynthia Nielsen of Fayetteville; three sons, Christopher Nielsen of Honolulu, Fridtjof Nielsen of Midland and Joseph Nielsen of Booneville; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Porter, Troy and Kevin Sharp, Ronald Fletcher, Billy Howard, Bob Kinard, Mike Foreman and David Kyle.
The body may be viewed from noon to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.
The family will visit with friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday.

Vonda Sharp
HARTFORD — Vonda Sharp, 83, of Hartford died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and the widow of Thurman Sharp.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville with burial at Huntington cemetery in Huntington under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Hartford.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Welch of Witcherville and Sharon Shelton of El Dorado; three sons, Lindell Sharp of Greenwood, Roger Sharp of Witcherville and Troy Sharp of Huntington; a sister, Vera Nichols of Paris; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stanley and Steve Jenkins, Paul and Charles Sharp and Jimmy Roberts.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Jim Loper
GREENWOOD — Jim Loper, 67, of Greenwood died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at his home. He was retired from Tyson Foods and the Covert, Mich., police department. He was an Air Force veteran and a Baptist.
The body was cremated under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Bryan of Midland; two sons, James Loper of Greenwood and Steven Loper of Fort Smith; two sisters, Betty Shaver of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Rosie Shackleford of Alabama; four brothers, Ed Loper of Lansing, Mich., and Vernon, Kenny and Loyd Grave, all of Michigan; and seven grandchildren.
