Betty Jones
Betty Sue Jones, 69, of Fort Smith died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, in her home. She was a homemaker.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by four sons, Marvin Davis, and Michael, Shane and Shannon Jones, all of Fort Smith; a sister, Margaret Smith of Norman, Okla.; and one grandchild.
The body may be viewed 1 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Johnson
Elizabeth Rose Rowan Johnson, 67, of Fort Smith, formerly of Spiro, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a florist and shop owner, a caregiver and a homemaker. She was the widow of James Rowan.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial at New Hope cemetery in Spiro.
She is survived by her husband, Monroe; a daughter, Ronda Lee of Tahlequah, Okla.; a son, James Rowan Jr. of Spiro; a stepdaughter, Karen Cruise of Moore, Okla.; three stepsons, Walter Johnson of Tahlequah, Monroe Johnson Jr. of Cookson, Okla., and George Johnson of San Francisco; a sister, Gloria Underwood of Barling; three brothers, Jim Underwood of Tahlequah, Paul Underwood of Kibler, and Dale Underwood of Charleston; three grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry and Ric Hanna, Larry Haney, Mark Johnson, Cary Rowan and Mike Garner.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends after the service at the Joe Rowan residence on Shelly Carlile Drive in Spiro.

B.J. Bowers
GREENWOOD — B.J. Bowers, 19, of Greenwood died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004. He was a machine operator for Moll Tool.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by his mother, Denise McGrath of Fort Smith; a sister, Reyna Moyer of Elgin, Ill.; a brother, Bradley Brewer of Fort Smith; maternal grandparents, Robert and Rita Ahlheim of Greenwood; and maternal great-grandmother, Pauline Kunkel of Heavener.

Paul Wood
Paul H. Wood, 78, of Van Buren died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, in Van Buren. He was a carpenter.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Lone Pine cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Lewis of Mountainburg; a son, David Wood of Mulberry; three brothers, Harry, Ed and Bill Wood, all of Clarksville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Thurman Childers
OZARK — Thurman E. Childers, 84, of Ozark died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, in Ozark. He was born June 5, 1920, in Ozark. He was an auto worker for ACF Industries, a member of V.F.W. of Ozark and the Sportsman Club of St. Louis, and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Morgan cemetery in Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Peggy Holloway of Ozark; a son, Ellis Childers of Cedarhill, Mo.; a brother, Vernon Childers of Ozark; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of the Charlie Battery Honor Guard of Ozark.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donald Wedel
LAVACA — Donald Leroy Wedel, 66, of Lavaca died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, in Lavaca. He was born March 15, 1938, in Pretty Prairie, Kan. He was a graduate of Pretty Prairie in 1957 and attended Hutchinson Junior College, was a retired truck driver for Branson Truck Lines of Lyons, Kan., a maintenance worker for Woodland Farms in Bagwell, Texas, and a former member of Loyal Order of the Moose No. 982 in Hutchinson, Kan.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Elliot Mortuary Chapel in Hutchinson with burial at Memorial Park cemetery in Hutchinson.
He is survived by his wife, Ella; four daughters, Debbie Byers of Colorado Springs, Colo., Donna Holland of Lavaca, Denise Klima of Claflin, Kan., and Dian Long of Ellinwood, Kan.; a sister, Marie Stephens of Indianapolis; a brother, Allen Wedel of Ellsworth, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rheumatoid Arthritis Association.

Rufus Saffell
JONESBORO — Rufus Voage Saffell, 101, of Jonesboro died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, in Jonesboro. He was born April 1, 1903, in Egypt. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver, of the Baptist faith and the widower of Trudie Saffell.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with burial at Keller’s Chapel cemetery.
He is survived by three daughters, Wanda Keltner of Bridgman, Mich., Bernice Henry of Jonesboro, and Lucille Emmons of Evans, Colo.; a son, Donald Saffell of Van Buren; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George, Gaylon, Royce, Randall and Joe Pierce and Larry Jones.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Arthur Weber
ALTUS — Arthur Lynn Weber, 48, of Altus died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in Altus. He was born April 28, 1956, in Atwood, Kan. He ran Wing & A Prayer Janitorial and Lawn business and a Navy veteran.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; three sons, Grant Weber of Branson, Mo., Wesley Weber of Fayetteville and Nick Yazinsky of Alix; a sister, Peggy Donelan of Decatur, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Monrow Hamm
Monrow Hamm, 79, of Van Buren died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a member of Cedarville Baptist Church and the widow of Frances Hamm.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by two daughters, April Stone of Van Buren and Deloris Campbell of Stigler; four sons, Rocky Hamm of Fort Smith, Lance and Nicky Hamm, both of Van Buren, and Charles Hamm of Anadarko, Okla.; and 19 grandchildren.

Dorsey Milam
ALMA — Dorsey Milam, 82, of Alma died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a Navy Seabees of World War II and served in the South Pacific; he was a former employee of Arkhola Sand and Gravel.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Gilliam cemetery near Greenwood under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Milam of Alma, Robin Milam of Grants Pass, Ore., and Sharon Matthews of Covina, Calif.; a son, Barry Milam of Alma; three sisters, LeHomadean Edwards of Greenwood, Jane Robinson of Cedarville, and Vida Frazier of Enid, Okla.; a brother, Bill Milam of Lamar; and two grandchildren.

Chloe Andrews
OZARK — Chloe Frances Andrews, 94, of Ozark died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Ozark. She was born Oct. 13, 1910, in Frederick, Okla. She was a retired bookkeeper, a Methodist, and a member of the Eastern Star.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Cecil cemetery in Cecil.
She is survived by a daughter, Earlene Tilly of Houston; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Nellie Sigmon
Nellie Tempie Sigmon, 90, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born June 6, 1914, in Magazine. She was a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church, where she worked in the children’s ministry for many years, and the widow of Daniel Sigmon.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Roberts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Old Union cemetery near Magazine.
She is survived by a daughter, Lois Turley of Fort Smith; two sisters, Lois Young and Blanche Webb, both of California; two brothers, Eugene McDonald of Magazine and Madison McDonald of Lavaca; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Ministry of Haven Heights Baptist in Fort Smith.

Blanche Porter
ALMA — Blanche Chitwood Porter, 84, of Alma died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1920, in Dyer. She was a member of the Methodist Church, a retired manager for J.J. Newberry Stores and the widow of Herman Porter.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Porter of Great Falls, Mont.; a son, Dan Porter of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; two sisters, Madge McAllister of Pasadena, Calif. and Julia Fernandez of Ventura, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Marland Jones
JACKSONVILLE — Marland Edward Jones, 70, of Jacksonville, formerly of Hoyt, Okla., died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in Jacksonville. He was a World War II veteran, retired from the Navy after 20 years of service, and a member of North Jacksonville Missionary Baptist Church.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Hoyt cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Elwanda; three daughters, Amanda Crow, Sandra Haynie, and Kathy Price; a sister, Betty Wilson; two brothers, Jerry Franklin and Ronnie Jones; and two grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Nellie Tempie Sigmon
Nellie Tempie Sigmon, 90, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born June 6, 1914, in Magazine. She was a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church. She loved children and worked in the children’s ministry for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel W. Sigmon; two brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services are rescheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Old Union cemetery near Magazine under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by a daughter, Lois Turley of Fort Smith; two sisters, Lois Young and Blanche Webb, both of California; two brothers, Eugene McDonald of Magazine and Madison McDonald of Barling; two grandchildren, Nathan Turley and Denise Ashing, both of Fort Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Emily Harris and Devin Turley.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Ministry of Haven Heights Baptist in Fort Smith.
