Bennie Bee Herron
Bennie Bee Herron, 87, of Fort Smith peacefully journeyed to a meeting with her Lord late Tuesday night, Jan. 4, 2005, at Fianna Hills Nursing Home. She is survived by a daughter, Linda France and her husband Don of Pocola; a son, Benny Ray Herron and his wife Loretta of Davis, Calif.; a sister, Wanda LeBlanc of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was a strong-willed woman with a gentle heart. As a young woman she was extremely attractive and very active in her church and school functions. She was always preparing delicious dinners from old family recipes. She loved animals and raised and groomed dogs and was active riding horses with her husband, Charles, who passed before her. She will be greatly missed by mortals but welcomed by angels.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial at the U.S. National cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Her family and relatives appreciate the love and care that was so graciously extended to Bennie by the staff of the Fianna Hills Nursing home and hospice.
Family will visit with friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.

Johnie H. “Buck” Smithson
Johnie H. “Buck” Smithson, 79, of Lavaca died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Lavaca. He was a member of Lavaca Methodist Church and an Army veteran of World War II; he was retired from Rheem, a retired farmer and a member of VFW. He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Smithson, his father, John Smithson; sisters Bessie, Wanda and Rene; and his wife, Evelyn Smithson.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca with burial at Oak Valley cemetery.
He is survived by a daughter, Nina Marie and husband John Price of Fort Smith; three sons, Howard Wayne Smithson of Lavaca, Leonard Ray and his wife Irene Smithson of Fort Smith, and Wesley Noel and wife Michele Smithson of Rogers; three sisters, Vivian Pence and Genell Graham, both of Lavaca, and Gwen Britton of Charleston; a brother, Joe and wife Eula Smithson of Lavaca; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James and Jimmy Dampier, Don Weaver, Dewayne Glidewell, Rayburn Green and Danny Cross.

David F. Allen
David F. Allen, 55, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 24, 1949, in Fort Smith. He was president of Alfa Transformer, a member of Goddard United Methodist Church, a former member of Van Buren Bass Club, and a Babe Ruth and American Legion baseball coach; he played baseball for West-Ark and OU, and was a minor league baseball pitcher and pitching coach for Kerwin’s.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Goddard United Methodist Church with burial at Oak cemetery in Lavaca under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; a daughter, Kelly Allen of Boston; his mother, Doris Allen of Fort Smith; two sisters, Jackie Napier and Becky Mallard, both of Fort Smith; and a brother, Robert Allen of Pocola.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Mallard, Randy Graves, Greg Napier, Chris Napier, Kevin Napier and Eric Mallard.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Rose Lavon Lockhart
Rose Lavon Lockhart, 95, of Rapid City, S.D., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in Rapid City Regional Hospital.
She is survived by her son, Paul E. Smith of Rapid City; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City and one hour before services at the church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Bethel Assembly of God in Rapid City with the Rev. Peter Dahlberg and the Rev. Bob James officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.

DOVER — Nellie Shaddon, 60, of Dover died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in Hot Springs. She was born Dec. 22, 1944, in Ola. She was employed by Bibler Lumber for 25 years and was a Baptist.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Rushing cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; a daughter, Gina Groboski of Lamar; four sons, Jerry Shaddon of Paris, Timothy and David Shaddon, both of Dover, and Kevin Shaddon of Atkins; her mother, Neoma Spencer of Paris; four sisters, Bonnie Burns of California, Brenda Jones and Donna Rowland, both of Dardanelle; and Elizabeth Appleton of Paris; five brothers, Zollie Spencer of Cheyene, Wyo., Floyd Spencer of Ratcliff, Alfred Spencer of Ozark, Arthur Spencer of Branch, and Dan Spencer of Texas; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

IONE — June Hall, 77, of Ione died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in Booneville. She was a waitress and attended the Ione Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Roberts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at French Prairie cemetery near Ione.
She is survived by a daughter, Candy Jones of Ione; two sons, Phillip Griffith of Phoenix and Paul Henry of Jenny Lind; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

OARK — Delbert Abercrombie, 77, of Oark died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in his home. He was born April 8, 1927, in Bakersfield, Calif.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Oark cemetery in Oark under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie; two daughters, Karen Biggs and Jennifer Rameriz, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sons, Butch Abercrombie of Catalpa and Darrell Abercrombie of Bakersfield, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Sandra Robinson of Oark and Debra Hammons of Catalpa; two stepsons, Danny Longacre and Paul Alexander, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Audra Patterson
BRANCH — Audra E. Pete” Patterson, 86, of Branch died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Cole’s Chapel United Methodist Church, a member of Home Demonstration Club for 50 years and the widow of Richard Patterson.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Cole’s Chapel United Methodist Church with burial at Cole’s Chapel cemetery south of Branch under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Wells of Charleston; three sisters, Beatrice Metcalf and Wanda Weiser, both of Tulsa, and Joyce Benjamin of Kansas City, Kan.; a brother Lee Askins of Tulsa; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be nephews.

CHESTER — Bill Pfaff, 81, of Chester died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in Chester. He was a retired tool and die machinist for General Motors, a member of the Local No. 110 Die and Makers Union in Detroit, and was a Navy veteran.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren. The body will be cremated and there will be no public viewing.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Linda Skinner of Louisville, Ky.; four sons, William Pfaff Jr. of Lansing, Mich., Robert and Edgar Pfaff, both of Fort Smith, and James Pfaff of Erie, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Barbara G. Person
Barbara G. Person, 66, of Lavaca died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born May 24, 1938, in Lavaca. She was a business lady, was of the Christian faith and was a member of Family Campers and RV’ers.
Memorial service will be 5:30 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Woody of the home; four daughters, Paula Burton and husband Roy and Pattie Daniels and husband David, all of Lavaca, and Pam King and husband Mark and Peggy Peters and husband Larry, all of Fort Smith; a sister, Peggy Buckner of Charleston; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lawrence “Larry” Huff
Lawrence “Larry” Huff passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, in Greenwood at the age of 82 years. Mr. Huff was an Army veteran of World War II, was retired from the Downey V.A. Hospital in Downey, Ill., and had been employed at the Greenwood True Value Hardware store from 1987 to 1993. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert L. Huff; a brother, George Huff; and a sister, Dora Harris.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with interment at Greenwood Memorial cemetery. The Rev. J.M. Rogers will be officiating. Pallbearers are Hugh Thompson, Bob Turner, John Hillary, Allen Hillary, Jim Mandalert and Ron Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette “Jan” Huff of the home; a daughter, Dorothy Brookes of St. Charles, Mo.; two brothers, Frank Huff of Goreville, Ill., and Andy Huff and his wife Beulah of Marion, Ill.; a sister, Myrtle Boaz of Marion; a sister-in-law, Martha Huff of Zion, Ill.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mr. Huff will be today from 1 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

ROGERS — Dorothy Speck Hartenstein, 81, of Rogers, formerly of Little Rock, died Dec. 26, 2004, in Rogers. She and her husband owned and operated Hartenstein Elevator Co. in Little Rock. She attended Sullins College and the University of Arkansas, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and the widow of Robert Hartenstein.
Visitation will be from 11 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock with graveside service following at Little Rock National cemetery.
She is survived by daughters, Ann Morrison of Rogers, Kay Saatchi of London, England, and Margie Lackie of Memphis; a brother, Cy Speck of Little Rock; several grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Horace Tounzen
Horace Jewel Tounzen, 80, of Van Buren died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, in a local hospital. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, of the Pentecostal faith and the widower of Betty Tounzen.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by five daughters, Frances Ward and Shirley Enz, both of Holtville, Calif., Berniece Tounzen and Glenda Beeson, both of El Centro, Calif., and Nancy Damewood of Estes Park, Colo.; two sons, Terry Tounzen of Uniontown and Johnny Tounzen of Holtville, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Debbie Copeland and Diane Smith, both of Eunice, N.M., and Donna Trahan of Englewood, Fla.; a sister, Hazel Parker of California; a brother, Cecil Tounzen of Van Buren; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

MENA — Ada Inez Sullivan, 91, of Mena died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004. She was born Sept. 8, 1913, in Smithville, Okla. She was a homemaker and the widow of Darrel Sullivan.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Hall Funeral Service Memorial Chapel in Mena with burial at Watson cemetery.
She is survived by a sister, Ethel Blake of Eric, Okla.
Cora Goodman
MENA — Cora Goodman, 81, of Mena died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, in Mena. She was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Mena. She was a homemaker, a member of Union Mission Pentecostal Church of God and the widow of Norman Goodman.
Funeral was held Monday at Union Mission Pentecostal Church of God with burial at Board Camp cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
She is survived by a brother, Garrie Corley of Mena.
