Adam Taber Humiston
Adam Taber Humiston, 27, of Fort Smith passed away Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a construction estimator for Sawatzky Homes in Weatherford, Okla. Adam was a beloved and loyal son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin and nephew who brought joy to those around him. A strong man with a gentle heart and engaging smile, Adam was blessed with many friends and was a champion for the underdog. He had a kind and generous spirit and a true zest for life. He loved his family and friends, the Razorbacks, the Marshall Islands, fishing and his work.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clint and Rosemary Taber of Russellville; aunt Linda Poneta of East Lansing, Mich.; aunt Pat Morgan of Atlanta; and uncle Denny Michael of Davison, Mich.
Rosary service will be 7 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Oak cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his parents, Richard and Kathy Humiston of Fort Smith; one brother, Jeff Humiston and wife Leslie of Little Rock; one nephew, William Humiston of Little Rock; grandparents, Charles and Frances Humiston of Sun City, Arizona; aunts and uncles Clint and Martha Taber of Edwardsville, Ill., Tom and Carol Taber of Augusta, Ga., Ellen Taylor of Atlanta, Steve and Alex Taber of Kenmore, Wash., Peter and Patsy Taber of Fayetteville, Pete and Mary Scovic of Portage, Mich., Susan Starr of Fort Smith, Mike Taber of Hot Springs, Rick Taber of Little Rock, Dave and Noirin Taber of Houston, Robert Taber and John White of Kansas City, Mo., Barb Michael of Davison, Mich., and Jerry and Diane Nugent of Davison, Mich. He is also survived by over 30 cousins.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Moir, Jason Zimmer, Jeremy Simpson, Kevin Worden, Jason Ridener and Matt Blaylock.
Family will visit with friends following the rosary service today at Edwards Funeral Home.

Minnie Mae Morgan Cain
Minnie Mae Morgan Cain, an elegant and deeply beloved lady, passed away peacefully at Trinity Lutheran Nursing Home in Shawnee Mission, Kan. She was born March 11, 1919, in Joplin, Mo.
Minnie enjoyed some of her happiest years at the University of Arkansas where she was a Tri Delta sorority girl, earned her degree in education, met and ultimately married
her handsome college sweetheart, Charles Cain. Known for her style and beauty, Minnie will be remembered for her vivaciousness and love of people. There was also about this sweet woman a demure, regal serenity. She was an impeccable and gracious homemaker, but above all a most loving wife and mother.
Minnie and Charles lived in Fort Smith for 30 years, where together they reared their three daughters and made many happy memories with lifelong friends. They were members of the First Methodist Church.
Following 63 years of devoted marriage, Charlie died on Feb. 10, 2001, and in his absence Minnie’s health rapidly declined. However, true to her great inner strength, and never to be underestimated, Minnie rallied in her weakest hours to spend one last shopping day on the Kansas City Plaza with greatest source of pride, her three girls.
Minnie leaves behind her daughters, Kelly Harmsen, Corinne Galbraith of Salt Lake City and Cookie, Mrs. Gary Hanson of Overland Park, Kan.; and 13 beautiful grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with another three on the way.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. and the memorial service at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf in Overland Park, Kan.
Etta Lee Tackett
Etta Lee Tackett, 65, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Pocola. She was a manager of The Thrift Shop and a member of Northside United Pentecostal Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Northside United Pentecostal Church with burial at Macedonia cemetery in Pocola under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond of the home; four daughters, Cindy Vanzant of Cabot, Judy Eatmon of Greenwood, Angie Lamb and Sheila Powell, both of Fort Smith; a son, Randy Tackett of Fort Smith; four sisters, Edna Mae Lowery of Pocola, Juanita Polk, Linda Holloway and Jane Hope, all of Fort Smith; two brothers, Edward and Charles Tucker, both of Pocola; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brian, Dean, Mark, Tim and Jared Polk, Shawn and Shane Lowery and B.J. Myers.
Frankie Anderson
BONANZA — Frankie Lee Anderson, 48, of Bonanza died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born May 13, 1956, in Los Angeles. He was a retired employee of Federal Coach.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his companion, Janie Padilla; a son, Ian Anderson of Texarkana; and a halfbrother, James Boles of Mount Saint Helen, Wash.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
Arthur Sadler
GARLAND, Texas — Arthur Sadler, 72, of Garland, Texas, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004. He was born Aug. 24, 1931. He was a member of Disciples of Christ Church, the Garland Optimist Club, Kiwanis Club and Boy Scouts of America. He was a veteran of the Air Force and retired as a master sergeant after 22 years, and was the widower of Wanda Sadler.
Funeral was held Aug. 20 at Williams Memorial Chapel in Garland, Texas. Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by a son, Ron Sadler of Garland, Texas; a brother, Les Sadler of Florida; and two grandchildren.
Edna Murlin
SURPRISE, Ariz. — Edna Murlin, 88, of Surprise, Ariz., formerly of Fort Smith, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in Viroqua, Wis. She was born Nov. 30, 1915, in Drumright, Okla. She was a retired assistant restaurant manager, a member of Midland Heights United Methodist Church, and a former Wal-Mart greeter.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Highland cemetery in Pawnee, Okla.
She is survived by a daughter, Geraldine Womack of Fort Smith; a son, Frank Taylor of Glendale, Ariz.; two sisters, Irene Caldwell and Gertrude Pratz, both of Oklahoma City; a brother, Basil Sharp of Beach, Mo.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Harriet Hitchcock
Harriet Hitchcock, 70, of Van Buren died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in a local hospital. She was an auctioneer, seamstress, school bus driver and graphic artist, and the widow of Dallas Hitchcock.
The body will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. The ashes will be scattered in California at a later date.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Davis of Van Buren; a son, William Hitchcock of Van Buren; four sisters, Mary Foy, Rose Machurek, both of Pocatello, Idaho, Margaret Townsend of Parkland, Wash., and Beverly Bell of Coos Bay, Ore.; two brothers, Bob Brinkmeier of Tulsa and Fred Brinkmeier of La Mesa, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Daniel Adamson
MOUNTAINBURG — Daniel Adamson, 51, of Mountainburg died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a Marine veteran of the Vietname War.
The body will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. No services are scheduled.
He is survived by his wife, Jessica; a daughter, Melissa Krouse of Taylorville, Ill.; two sons, Ronnie Krouse of Mountainburg and Quai Ballentine of Bangkok, Thailand; and six grandchildren.
Leathel Baxter
Leathel Lillian Baxter, 96, of Van Buren died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in a nursing home. She was born March 28, 1908, in Mulberry. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Sidney “Buster” Johnson
Sidney “Buster” Johnson, 90, of Fort Smith entered into rest Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born July 18, 1914, in Crossett. Mr. Johnson was a retired employee of Georgia Pacific Corp., a member of South Crossett Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrl Nelson Johnson; and one brother, Bert Johnson. He is survived by one son, Sid and wife Mary Ann of Fort Smith; daughter, Helen and husband, Harold Holland of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, Lara Johnson Thompson and husband, Darin, Mark Johns and wife, Jenny, Wendy Johnson Sheridan and husband, Jeff, Kathy Holland Wren and husband, Kerry, Cindy Napier, Karen Holland Gardner and husband, Jeff; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse Vestal of Phoenix City, Ala. and J.T. Vestal of Klamath Falls, Ore.; sister, Mamie Wynn of Santa Maria, Calif. Mildred Coleman
Mildred Coleman, 88, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church, a homemaker and the widow of Gene Coleman.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Hunter of Van Buren and Vickie Landers of Van Buren; a son, Eddie Coleman of Van Buren; a sister, Tressie Morrison of Van Buren; five grandchildren, Jason Coleman of Van Buren, Chad Hickey of Atlanta, Veronica Grant of Van Buren, Vikki Doss of Van Buren and Ashley Landers of Van Buren; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tegan Doss, Caitlin and Caleb Grant, and Hanna Coleman.

Samuel Howard McGraw
Samuel Howard McGraw, 65, of Fort Smith, formerly of Drew, Miss., died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, in Little Rock. Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith. Visitation will be after the memorial service at 1505 Oak Knolls Circle, Fort Smith.
Mr. McGraw was born on March 2, 1939, in Drew, Miss., to Howard Munford McGraw and Georgia King McGraw. He graduated from Drew High School and attended Mississippi Delta Community College. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He married
Suzanne Buergler. He was a self-employed retired salesman. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith. He loved his grandchildren, race cars, boating and fixing anything broken.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Georgia McGraw.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Buergler McGraw of Fort Smith; four daughters, Amy Lander of Fort Smith, Jennifer S. Smith and her husband, Bryan, of Lavaca, Megan Sturgeon and her husband, Ricky, of Springdale, and Sydney McGraw of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Lady Lou Salley of Cleveland, Miss.; and four grandchildren, Jacob Lander, Cami Sturgeon, Drew Sturgeon and Tyler Smith.

Alma O. Humphrey
Alma O. Humphrey, 81, of Alma died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Louis Summerlin of Auburn, N.H.; a grandson, and his wife, Richard and Debra Humphrey of Alma.
Mrs. Humphrey will be cremated with no formal services scheduled under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. Her ashes will be interred at a later date in Florida.
Jonie Rainwater
Jonie Rainwater, 41, of Van Buren died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, in her home. She was a former licensed practical nurse for New Haven Nursing Home and attended the House of Prayer Church in Fort Smith.
Services are pending under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Meredith Rainwater of Charleston and Andrea Rainwater of Greenwood; her mother, Marilyn McGrew of Van Buren; a sister, LaDonna Bennett of Alma; a brother, Joe McGrew Jr. of Fort Smith; and her grandmother, Vivian McGrew of Houston.
Mary “Maggie” Naegle
Mary “Maggie” Naegle, 72, of Scranton died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, in Scranton of natural causes. She worked in the Scranton Elementary School as a teacher’s aide for several years, was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth Altar Society, Quilters Club and a graduate of St. Scholastica Catholic School in Fort Smith. Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Mary (Tencleve) Koch; sister, Margie Fritsche; brothers, Engelbert Joe and Gene Koch.
Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. today at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton.
Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton with burial at St. Ignatius cemetery in Scranton under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Naegle of Scranton; three daughters, Ginger Carr of Alma, Lois Cape of Morrilton and Margie Price of Russellville; four sons, Bill Naegle of Paris, Danny Naegle of Little Rock, Larry Naegle of Prairie View and Harold Naegle of Fort Smith; two sisters, Clara Forst of Subiaco and Julia Rogers of Prairie View; three brothers, Ed Koch of Prairie View and Dennis Koch and Ray Koch, both of Fort Smith; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Randy Rogers, Ronnie Koch, Joey Koch, Glen Fritsche, Tim Koch and Jeff Koch.
