PARIS — Frances Yevonne Sory Fields, 64, of Paris died Monday, June 9, 2003, in Paris. She was a retired bookkeeper and a Baptist. She was the widow of Robert Fields.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wares Chapel cemetery in Dublin under the direction of Murry Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice McCray of Bristol, Va., and Rhonda Justice of Perry, Ga.; a son, Richard Holmes of Warner Robbins, Ga.; her father and stepmother, Norman and Altha of Sherwood; three sisters, Elizabeth Robinson of Baymonette, Ala., Gayle Orell of Sherwood and Becky Coaley of Cabot; and one grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Velma Owens
WALDRON — Velma Pauline Owens, 90, of Waldron died Saturday, June 7, 2003, in Mena. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Union Hill cemetery near Waldron.
She is survived by a daughter, Ema Sullivan of Mena; three sons, Johnny Owens of Mabelvale, Willie and Robert Owens, both of Waldron; four sisters, Reba Knox and Macy Rose, both of Fort Smith, Evelyn Ferguson of California and Alice Floor of Florida; a brother, Sam Butler of Fort Smith; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary, Bruce, Steven, Michael and Bobby Owens and James Clare Jr.
The body may be viewed 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Alma Warmath
WALDRON — Alma Anita Warmath, 75, of Waldron died Saturday, June 7, 2003, in her home. She was a nurse, a member of the Rocketts Club, of the Presbyterian faith and attended Waldron First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Square Rock cemetery in Waldron.
She is survived by a daughter, Paige Bethel of Waldron; two sons, Gary Warmath of Anchorage, Alaska, and Marris Warmath of Phoenix; three sisters, Demetra Gummershire of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Suzie Goldsmith of Mountain Home and Ollie Weeks of Piggott; two brothers, Elvis Gilbert of Tacoma, Wash., and William Marris of Fort Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Paul Newborn, Bill Black, Rick Jeffery, Bill Bethel, Kenny Johnston and J.C. Cash.
Honorary pallbearers will members of Golden Rule Sunday school class.

Kenneth Larson
CLARKSVILLE — Kenneth Larson, 72, of Clarksville died Sunday, June 8, 2003. He was a retired lieutenant colonel, a graduate of Clarksville High School and the College of the Ozarks, and coached and taught at Clarksville High School in the ’50s and ’60s. He entered the 
military in 1963 and received the Meritorious Service Medal with Second Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Naval Air Crew Insignia and Meritorious Unite Emblem. He was the widower Renee Larson.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville. The body was cremated.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth Larson of Corpus Christi, Texas; a stepson, Richard Reed of Chico, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Ivy Maria Kelly of Tulsa died June 5, 2003, at a Fort Smith hospital. She was born Sept. 4, 1908, in Bristol, England, to Thomas Henry Phelps and Maria Ann Bird Phelps. She was the third of five children.
The family moved to Canada in 1912. At the outbreak of World War I, her father enlisted in the Canadian Army and was killed in action at Ypres, Belgium, in 1915. She moved to Windsor, Ontario, with her family.
Upon graduation from Windsor Collegiate, she was employed by the Detroit Coal and Ice Co., where she met her future husband, Vincent M. Kelly Sr. of Tulsa. He was on assignment in Detroit at the time for Haskins and Sells, a national firm of certified public accountants. The couple married
in 1929 and set up housekeeping in Tulsa.
She moved to England with her husband in 1958 when he became financial administrator of the eastern hemisphere for Gulf Oil Corp. They returned to Tulsa upon his retirement in 1964.
She was a Catholic and member of Christ The King Parish in Tulsa. She was a member of the Christ The King Women’s Club, St. Charles Guild, Crosier Club, St. John’s Hospital Auxiliary, Knife and Fork Club, Tulsa Garden Center, Tulsa Orchid Society, CPA Wives Auxiliary, Tulsa Embroiderers Guild, the English Speaking Union, American Women’s Club of London, Tulsa Club and Southern Hills Country Club.
Although not a U.S. citizen, she was active in former Gov. Frank Keating’s early political campaigns.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Lillian Ord of Windsor, Ontario; her brothers, Thomas H. Phelps of Montreal and Fred Phelps of Tulsa; and a grandson, David Taylor of Fort Smith.
She is survived by five children: Barbara Taylor and her husband, Robert C. of Cedarville, Vincent M. Kelly Jr. and his wife, Aleatha of Miami, Thomas R. Kelly and his wife Mary, Mary Freeman and her husband John, all of Tulsa, and Francis C. Kelly and his wife, Diane of Fort Smith; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Ramona Phelps Brennan of Tulsa. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Christ The King Catholic Church in Tulsa. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice or Christ The King Catholic Church in Tulsa.
Sebastian James Paul Whitsett
Sebastian James Paul Whitsett, infant son of Robert “Dino” and Krystal Batey Whitsett of Alma, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, in Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
Memorial service was held Monday at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma. The body will be cremated under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, James Batey of Muldrow, Cindy Batey of Fort Smith, Tammie Whitsett and Donnie Slate of Kibler, Denis and Ann Whitsett of Lonoke; great-grandparents, Joyce and Paul Christie of Kibler and Faye Batey of Muldrow; aunts, Tracy Jackson, Stacy Green, Tabatha Slate, Dawana Stephens, Kyla Stephens; uncles, Ernie Batey, Billy Whitsett, Gary Whitsett, John Lloyd, Brent Meadors, Shawn Jackson and Odell Coots.
Allen Clarence Beck
Allen Clarence Beck, age 80, of Fort Smith died Sunday, June 8, 2003, in a local nursing home. Mr. Beck was a native of Burkesville, Ky.; he served with General Patton in France during World War II and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge; he received a Purple Heart. He was a member of Evangel Temple Church. He is survived by a nephew, Dorance Damron of Fort Smith; a great-niece, Tracy Damron of Little Rock; two great-nephews, David and James Damron, both of Fort Smith; two great-great-nieces and four great-great-nephews.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.

Leona Holland Lowery Agnew, 91, of Booneville passed away Monday, June 9, 2003, in a Booneville nursing home. She was a retired clerk. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Eliza Holland; a son, Jimmy Lowery; two husbands, Jim Lowery and Milton Agnew and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
She is survived by a son, Gene Lowery and wife, Louise of Booneville; a stepson, Carl Agnew of California; a stepdaughter, Jackie Beck of California; two sisters, Elicia Zapata of San Jose, Calif., and Dolores Henkey of Cornell, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Deborah K. Finley of Lavaca died Friday, June 6, 2003, in Lavaca. She was a cosmetologist. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Kaelin; and her stepfather, Gerald Lackey.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with cremation to follow under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, John E. “Jack” Finley Jr. of Lavaca; a daughter, Maggie Jerrell of Eielson AFB, Fairbanks, Alaska; a son, Phillip Perry of California; her mother, Colleen Lackey of Pocola; three sisters, Cathy Rich of Richmond Hill, Ga., Tammy Bond and Laura Woodard, both of Fort Smith; two brothers, James Kaelin of Lavaca and Chris Lackey of Pocola; a stepgrandmother, Mattie Lackey of Arkoma; and one grandchild, Jaiden Jerrell.

Donald McFerran “Mack” Chastain, 63, of Charleston died Saturday, March 6, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born July 20, 1940, in Branch to Richard Claude Chastain and Ferry Lois McFerran Chastain. He was a self-employed master electrician.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Hampton cemetery north of Branch under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Lenora Chastain of the home; two daughters, Velva Reed and husband, James of Charleston and Karra Crenshaw and husband, Rondal of Booneville; two sons, Jimmy Don Chastain and wife, Cathy of Charleston and Aaron Chastain and wife, Cynthia of Paris; his stepmother, Margaret Chastain of Fort Smith; three sisters, Claudine Burton of Schertz, Texas, Martha Morris of Lavaca and Rose Newton of Bloomer; a stepsister, Patsy Payne of Fort Smith; two brothers, James Chastain of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Bobby Chastain of Trona, Calif.; a stepbrother, Jerry Chastain of Greenwood; and six grandchildren, Kelli and Kayla Reed, Richard Chastain, Mason Sherwood, Brooklynn Crenshaw and Hunter Chastain.

Charlie G. “Chap” Daniels, 87, of Fort Smith passed away Monday, March 8, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired dairy farmer and a Lutheran.

He is survived by his wife, Waneda L. Ophelia Cobb O’Rear
Ophelia Cobb O’Rear was born Oct. 2, 1911. She departed this life Monday, March 8, 2004, at age 92, in Fort Smith where she lived the past 19 years. Huntsville, Ala., was always her “home.” She was the widow of the Rev. Cecil O’Rear, a former pastor of West Huntsville Baptist Church. Ophelia was preceded in death by her parents, Alec and Katie Mae Cobb and a brother, Elmer Cobb and wife Jean. Ophelia is survived by her daughter, Frances Witcher and husband, Carl of Fort Smith; her son, Lindsay and wife Nedla of Taylors, S.C.; three grandchildren and a great-grandson, along with her brother, Roy Cobb and wife OraDell of Owens Cross Roads; three sisters-in-law, Gladys Turner, Pearlie B. O’Rear and Lena B. O’Rear; special niece, Betty Butler; and a host of other beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at Laughlin Funeral Home Chapel in Huntsville on Thursday, March 11 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Gossett officiating. The family will visit with friends and relatives between noon to 2 p.m. preceding the service. Burial will be at Maple Hill. DYER — Wayne McCoy, 64, of Dyer died Monday, March 8, 2004, in Dyer. He was a retired truck driver for USA Truck in Van Buren, a Marine veteran and the widower of Etna McCoy.
Memorial graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Dyer cemetery Arbor with burial of cremains under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by a daughter, Stacey Boggios of Simi Valley, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Roxanne Cummings of Helen, N.M., and Terri Millsap of Dyer; several grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Clyde Jones
MENA — Clyde Junior Jones, 67, of Mena died Monday, March 8, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born Sept. 22, 1936, in Grannis. He was a school teacher for the Mena Public School System, a rancher, and worked for the United States Forest Service and was of the Christian faith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Wickes Church of the Nazarene with burial at Baker cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by a daughter, Lana Edwards of Wasilla, Alaska; a foster son, Shane Burk of Mena; a sister, Diane Pharr of Wickes; a brother, Charles Jones of DeQueen; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lymphoma Cancer Society.
Richard Henderson
MENA — Richard P. Henderson, 76, of Mena died Sunday, March 7, 2004, in Mena. He was born May 28, 1927, in Fort Myers, Fla. He served in the Navy and was head of security at AT&T. He was the widower of Jane Henderson.
The body was sent for cremation under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Hernandez of Panorama City, Calif.; two sons, Richard and David Henderson; and a stepson, Peter Mann of Magalia, Calif.
