Dr. Rick Martin
Dr. Rick Martin, 57, of Greenwood died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, in Houston. He practiced medicine at Bailey Clinic in Greenwood, a division of Cooper Clinic. He was also co-owner of Fin City Pet Supplies in Greenwood. He was a member of the Sebastian County Medical Society, Arkansas Academy of Family Physicians and American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Martin was a faithful member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church, where he held many positions, including vice chairman of the administrative board. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Dr. Martin was an avid fisherman, an antique car buff, voracious reader and wonderful joke teller. Since starting his medical practice in Fort Smith and Greenwood 29 years ago, he has been a respected, caring physician who dearly loved by all who knew him.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9 at the Greenwood United Methodist Church with burial at Liberty cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Gail Martin of the home; two daughters, Kara Martin Ault and husband, Rick, and Beth Martin Johnson and husband, Joseph; one granddaughter, LeAnna Gail Johnson; his parents, Earl and Teddy Martin; four aunts, Lee Minor, Grace Pumphrey, Jayne Clark and Bonnie Clark; three uncles, Marvin Minor, Loyd Pumphrey, and David Clark; and a special cousin, Mary Lea Huss. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Alta Clark, Earl and Myrtice Martin, and his uncle, Bob Clark.
Viewing will be 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8 at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ina Lee Caudle Cherry
Ina Lee Caudle Cherry went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004. Ina and her late husband, Kenith, owned the Mansfield Locker Plant in the 1950s and ’60s. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Mansfield, a 4-H leader, and at the time of her death she was a 75-year member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Crossroads. Ina was preceded in death by her parents, J. Elmer and Mary S. Bull Caudle; her husband, James Kenith Cherry; and daughter, Mary Elaine; brothers, Haskill and Virgil and his wife, Edith; sisters, Eunice Tyler and her husband, Jep, Ethel Hamilton and her husband, John, Beatrice Caudle; and a son-in-law, Richard Wennberg.
Ina was proud of her five-generation family that includes, one daughter, Janice K. Wennberg of Mena; granddaughters, Phyllis Kay Gomez and her children, David Armstrong, Jainelee, Clara and Feleca Gomez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Susan Elaine Parks and her husband, Nelson, and son, Daniel Foreman Jr. of Mena, her daughter, McKenzie Graves and husband, Justen and son, Andrew of Jacksonville, Fla. Also surviving are her sisters, Melba Martin of Fort Smith, Bertha Holland of Arkadelphia; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Other survivors include her Wennberg stepgrandsons, Richard and his wife, Michelle, of Buckeye, Ariz., Reg and his wife, Judy, of Fort Smith, Ronnie of Greenwood; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. today at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Coop Prairie cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield. Serving as pallbearers are Daniel Foreman Jr., Bud Tyler, Dennis Tyler, Charles Holland, Jim Holland, Brian McKay and Floyd Coward. Honorary pallbearers are great-grandsons, her Primitive Baptist family, Nelson Parks, Mark Coward, Gary Coward, Dudley, Stanley and Darris Johnson.

Joyce Spencer
BOONEVILLE — Joyce Kay Spencer, 57, of Booneville died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, in Henderson, Nev. She was a bartender and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Cauthron Methodist Church with burial at Kirk cemetery in Cauthron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
She is survived by a daughter, Tamara Richmond of Booneville; a sister, Edna Boston of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Ben Spencer of Waldron; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Lawson, Johnny Scantling, Dennis Spencer, David Tharp, Britt Lawrence, Donald Brown and Mike Musgrove.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.
Juanita Sewell
Juanita Law Sewell, 80, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was born May 8, 1924, in Ratcliff.

She is survived by two sons, Litton Logan of Los Alamos, N.M., and Joe Logan of Clarksdale, Miss.; a sister, Fay Snidow of Abingdon, Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mary Frye
BONANZA — Mary E. Stanley Frye, 83, of Bonanza died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, in her home. She born Aug. 5, 1921, in Batesville. She was a member of the Van Burn Gospel Rescue Mission and the widow of William Stanley Sr. and William Frye.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the U.S. National cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Flowers of Bonanza; a son, William Stanley Jr. of Springdale; sister, Virginia Balloun of Dardanelle; brother, Ray Gilbert of Fort Smith; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

VIAN — Georgia Ellen Patterson, 87, of Vian died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, in Vian. She was born Sept. 28, 1916, in Lonoke. She was a homemaker, attended First Freewill Baptist Church in Vian and was the widow of J.D. Howard and Pat Patterson.

Nadine Nichols
OZARK — Nadine Nichols, 88, of Ozark died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, in Ozark. She was born Oct. 3, 1915, in Mulberry. She was a homemaker, a member of Ozark First Christian Church, the E.H. Club and the widow of Clark Nichols.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Highland cemetery in Ozark.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Stacy and Lola King, both of Ozark; a son, Ed Nichols of Dora; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren,

Bobby Lee
Bobby Joe Lee, 52, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, in Mobile, Ala. He was a pharmaceutical representative, former owner and operator of Professional Errand Service, a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and an Air Force veteran.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Episcopal Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; a daughter, Stacy Lee of Fort Smith; a son, John O’Leary of Tallahassee, Fla.; four sisters, Dorothy Phillips, Mender Lee and Catherine Massey, all of Spiro, and Joyce Lee of Tulsa; three brothers, Mitchell and Thomas Lee, both of Spiro, and Jimmy Lee of Fort Coffee, Okla.

RIO LINDA, Calif. — Charlene Stanley, 71, of Rio Linda, Calif., formerly of Poteau, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, in Rio Linda. She was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Shady Point. She was a 1950 graduate of Pomona High School, a former employee of Bank of America and Placer Savings Bank in Cool, Calif.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald; two daughters, Janet Burrow of Rio Linda, Calif., and Lyn Stanley of Mission Viejo, Calif.; three sons, Mark Stanley of Cleburne, Texas, Jeff Stanley of Janesville, Calif., and Steven Stanley of Rockwall, Texas; four sisters, Elizabeth Hooper, Araminta Johnson, Carolyn Turney and Susan Saneman, all of Poteau; a brother, Walter Cheely of Poteau; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

HEAVENER — Lela “Pebsworth” Rothmayer, 61, of Heavener died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in Talihina. She was a typist for the Heavener Ledger newspaper.

MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Dorothy Oneita Johnson, 67, of Muskogee, Okla., formerly of Arkoma, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, in Muskogee. She was born Dec. 30, 1936, in Howe. She was a homemaker, a member of Arkoma Freewill Baptist Church and a veteran of the Marine Corps.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Pocola with burial at Coaldale cemetery in Coaldale, Ark.
She is survived by a brother, Cecil Johnson of Gans.

POTEAU — Larry Neal Thompson, 53, of Poteau died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, in Poteau. He was born Sept. 10, 1950, in Victor, Okla. He worked in real estate.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Smith and LaDonna Martin, both of Alma; two sons, William Coomer of Van Buren and Norman Coomer of Alma; a sister, Eula Hart of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, Harold Oliver of Alma and Earl Oliver of Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4446 of Stigler under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by a sister, Bonnie Horton of Stigler; four brothers, Grafton Casey of Tulsa, Norman Casey of Michigan, Bill Casey of Winton, Calif., and Buddy Casey of Kansas City.

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Lynn Kay McCoy Bates, 60, of Broken Arrow, Okla. died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, in Broken Arrow. She was an OSU master gardener and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; a son, Henry Bates of Salina, Okla.; two sisters, Joann Wallace of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Carol McCoy of Stigler; and two grandchildren.
