Henry H. Woods, 85, of Van Buren died Saturday, July 31, 2004, in a local hospital. He was retired from Farmer’s Coop in Van Buren and was a member of the Church of God (Seventh Day) in Fort Smith. He married
Louise Samples on Nov. 5, 1949.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; two daughters, Marcia Sanders and husband Randy of Van Buren, and Sue Ann Gold and husband Elroy Gold Jr. of The Woodlands, Texas; one son, Steve Woods and wife Susan of Fort Smith; three sisters, Evelyn Bass and Bobby Woods, both of Van Buren, and Maxine Woods of North Little Rock; three brothers, Harry Woods of Fresno, Calif., and Dean and George Woods, both of Van Buren; seven grandchildren, Matt Sanders of Van Buren, Adam Sanders of Little Rock, April Sanders and Haley and Elise Clemmons, all of The Woodlands; and Jeremy Woods and wife Frankie, and Josh Woods, all of Fort Smith; and one great-grandchild, Lennon Woods of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Matt, Adam and Randy Sanders, Jeremy and Josh Woods and Elroy Gold Jr.
Honorary pallbearer will be Walter Thompson.
Family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

John A. Branham
John A. Branham, 89, of Midland died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Pink Bud Nursing Home in Greenwood.
Born Oct. 6, 1914, in Fort Smith, he was the son of the Rev. Bert and Emma Branham. He was a retired minister of the Pentecostal Church of God for 40 years. He pastored churches in Y City, Ozark and Midland.
He was preceded in death by three children, Janice Joyce, Judy Thompson, and Jesse Joel.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Lee; three sons, Jerry John, Jackie Joe and Jeffery James, all of Houston; a daughter, Jo Ann Hawthrone of Midland; two sisters, Betty Covemaker and Peggy Hanks of Illinois; one brother, Donny Branham of Virginia; 21 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Full Gospel Temple Church in Ozark with the Rev. Kenneth Elmore and the Rev. Mike Shaddon officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be grandsons; honorary pallbearers will be ministers of the Pentecostal Church of God. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Anna M. Ponce
Anna M. Ponce, 46, of Dyer died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, a homemaker and a former resident of Alma. She was born July 13, 1958, in Long Beach, Calif. Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Joyce Tucker Rea.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Southside Baptist Church in Alma with burial at Dyer City cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by a son, Anderson Terry of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Velta Rea of Dyer; and one niece, Oveta Rea of Dyer.
Pallbearers will be Harold Hill, Alan Kiker, Phil Harris, Tom Steward, Mike Formen and Tim O’Kelley.
Honorary pallbearers will be member of Southside Baptist Church.
Daniel “Eddie” Way
Daniel “Eddie” Way, 72, of Fort Smith passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, in his home. He was a member of AARP and the VFW in Alma. He retired from Riverside Furniture. He was in the Army where he served in the 
Korean War and received the Purple Heart. He loved fishing and gardening. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Arkansas Razorbacks and St. Louis Cardinals.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Jewel; sons, Roy Wilson of Texas and Billy Wilson of Van Buren; daughters, Pamela Wilson of Fort Smith, Rose Ann Bode of California, Janet Cornish of Nebraska and Tammy Angel of Van Buren; brothers, Douglas Way of Arkansas and John Way of Crossett; sisters, Marie Moore of Fort Smith and Jeanette Williams of Fort Smith; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the U.S. National cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chris Becker, Coty Angel, Chad Wilson, Darrell Gattis, Mike Angel and Billy Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.

Lyda Sharum
Lyda Sharum, age 87, of Fort Smith passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, in Fort Smith. She is a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Fort Smith, worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Paris, France; Istanbul, Turkey; Washington, D.C.; and New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her parents, C.L. and Josephine Sharum; two sisters, Alice Willis and Elizabeth Pope; and two brothers, Edward and Pat Sharum.
Rosary service will be 7 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
She is survived by one sister, JoAnn Reynolds of Lavaca; two brothers, Clarence and Robert Sharum, both of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Steve Sharum, Tim Sharum, Don Reynolds, Dale Reynolds, Glenn Hopkins and Dr. Jim Yandell.

Kyle Nicholas Williams
Kyle Nicholas Williams, 12, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, in Tulsa. He was born Sept. 24, 1991, in Oklahoma City, the son of Willard and Sue Schafer Williams. He was a former Haskell Elementary student where he received the Masonic Award in 2003. Kyle was in the seventh grade at Summit Middle School where he received the Golden Summit Award for Outstanding Student in 2004, a former Cub Scout, a recipient of the Arrow of Light Badge, was a fan of Harry Potter books, a member of St. Eugene’s Catholic Church where he served as an altar boy, and was a first baseman and pitcher with the PCO Giants baseball team. Kyle was loved by everyone he encountered, a gentle soul, always willing to help and lend words of encouragement. His smile and caring touched us all and his laughter will be sorely missed. Kyle’s spirit will continue to live in the lives of those who received his organs. God Bless you Kyle, we love you. His grandparents Mary Ellen Williams, Willard D. Williams, Millie Byrne and Dr. John “Jack” Byrne, preceded him in death. Agnes A. Cooper Pilgreen
Agnes A. Cooper Pilgreen, 83, of Paris died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, of natural causes. She was a homemaker, enjoyed family, church, quilting, fishing and flower gardening. She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Francis (Rossman) Winkleman; husband, Sidney E. Pilgreen Sr.; three sisters, Betty, Hilda and Helen; and three brothers, Joe, Harold and Lawrence.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Paris Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial at Baxley cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary K. Cooper of Stillwater, Okla., Elaine Robertson of Paris and Janet Rogers of Prairie View; three sons, Joseph Cooper of Stillwater, Okla., Sidney E. Pilgreen Jr. of Paris and Robert “Bob” D. Pilgreen of Driggs; one sister, Mary Honeyman of Stillwater, Okla.; three brothers, Don Winkleman of Wellsville, Kan., Kenny Winkleman of Cherryville, Kan., and Robert Winkleman of Independence, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Clyde Gudermuth Sr.
ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Clyde S. Gudermuth Sr. of Alpharetta, Ga., formerly of Webster Groves, Mo., died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, in Alpharetta. He was a 32nd degree Mason participating in the Arab Patrol at the Moolah Temple, was a charter member of the St. Louis Section, Society of Plastics Engineers.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Dover Place Christian Church in St. Louis. Arrangements under the direction of National Cremation Society in Lilburn, Ga.
He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Silva of Alpharetta, Ga.; a son, Clyde Gudermuth Jr. of Fort Smith; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

ALMA — Frank Carr, 73, of Alma died Saturday, July 31, 2004, in his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Brookhaven, Miss. He was an Army veteran of the
Korean War, a former shuttle bus driver for USA Trucking, and a member of New Beginning Pentecostal Church of God.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Beginning Pentecostal Church under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Ima; seven sons, Terry and Michael Carr, both of Fort Smith, Tony Carr of Pass Christian, Miss., Lonnie and Gregory Carr, both of Van Buren, David and Donald Carr, both of Alma; three sisters, Lillian Watts of Natchez, Miss., Alena Hubbard of Tyler, Texas, and Dorothy Smith of Ferriday, La.; 20 grandchildren; and z great-grandchild.

DESOTO, Kan. — Lula Mae Nixon Davis, 89, of DeSoto, Kan., formerly of Jethro, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, in DeSoto. She was born Sept. 5, 1914, in Jethro. She was a retired factory worker, a homemaker, a Baptist and the widow of Charles Davis.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Oak Ridge cemetery in Jethro.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Doss and Colene Watley, both of Lake Charles, La., and Norma Johnson of DeSoto, Kan.; four sons, Bill Nixon of Jethro, James Davis of Brownsville, Texas, Richard Davis of Altus and Larie Davis of Shawnee, Kan.; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Richard E. “Dick” Shumate, 63, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004. He was a retired manager and salesman, a deacon and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Parks cemetery in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; three daughters, Selina Klinghamer of Tulsa, Cindy Shumate of Ozark and Dixie Shumate of Dora, Okla.; a son, Roger Shumate of Fort Smith; a sister, Frances Carson of Charleston; two brothers, Douglas Shumate of Atlanta and Tag Shumate of Lawton, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert; seven daughters, Lisa Finch of Mountain Home, Idaho, Tammie Jewell of Cove, Mary Spradley of Paul, Idaho, Verna Wilcox, Stacy Hale and Hope Wilcox, both of Mena, and Tammi Wilcox of Frisco, Texas; a son, Bob Wilcox of Mena; her father, Harvey May of Waldron; a sister, Betty Deer of Booneville; two brothers, Larry and Dale May, both of Mena; and 26 grandchildren.

CLARKSVILLE — Vola Jaggers Montgomery, 88, of Clarksville died Friday, July 30, 2004, in Paris. She was born May 28, 1916, in Johnson County. She was a member of Clarksville Church of Christ, a retired beautician and the widow of Clyde Jaggers.
