Stella McKenzie
Stella G. McKenzie, 86, of Fort Smith died Monday, June 7, 2004, in her home. She was born Oct. 14, 1917, in Fort Smith. She was a retired bookkeeper for Elaine School of Dance, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary, and the widow of Lonnie McKenzie Jr.
Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Baker of Greenwood; a son, Richard McKenzie of Tulsa; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1866, Fort Smith, Ark. or Mercy Hospice, P.O. Box 17000, Fort Smith, AR 72917.

Virl Brewer
Virl Brewer, 55, of Fort Smith died Friday, June 4, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a member of King Solomon Baptist Church and an employee of Whirlpool Corp.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Washington cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by three daughters, Andrea Merriwether, Tara and Tori Brewer, all of Fort Smith; a son, Virl Brewer of Fort Smith; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Henry Bell, Eddie Cole, George Dumas, Robert Fritschie, Billy Springs and Rashim Merriwether Jr.

Delmar Davidson
KEOTA — Delmar T. Davidson, 94, of Keota died Sunday, June 6, 2004. He was a retired teacher, farmer and rancher. He was a member of Star Baptist Church in Star, Okla., the Masons, the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association and a former member of Keota Lion’s Club.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Star Baptist Church in Star, Okla. with burial at Keota cemetery under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Kay Robertson of Keota; a sister, Ena Parker of Oakland, Calif.; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Jason and Jerry Smith, Kenny and Jeff Adams, Doug Foster and Terry Garland.

Stella McKenzie
Stella McKenzie, 86, of Fort Smith passed away on Monday, June 7, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born on Oct. 14, 1917. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the I.C. Stella was a retired receptionist and bookkeeper for Elaine’s School of Dance, and the widow of Lonnie McKenzie Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Baker and son-in-law, Bill, of Greenwood; a son, Richard McKenzie and daughter-in-law, Carol, of Tulsa; five grandchildren; Brad Baker and wife, Linda, Blake Baker and wife, Karen, Brian Baker, Mark McKenzie and wife, Emily, of Tulsa, Ellen Moore and husband, Jeff, of Fort Worth, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross cemetery, Fort Smith. Roy Eugene Cain
Roy Eugene Cain, 61, of Van Buren died Sunday, June, 6, 2004, in his home. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran of the Vietname War, a member of Jubilee Christian Church and also preached and served food to the homeless under the Fort Smith bridge.
Graveside service and military honors will be 10 a.m. today at Sarah Grove cemetery in Cedarville under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Cain of the home; four daughters, Edna Gail Kilgore, Kathy Reynolds and Sherry Turpin, all of Van Buren, and Marcy Bell of Alma; two sons, Danny Cain and Ricky Cain, both of Van Buren; two sisters, Barbara Ellison of Lawton, Okla., and Elizabeth Newman of Cordell, Okla.; two brothers, Talmage Cain of Texas and Donald Cain of Oklahoma; and 16 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don Jenkins, Don Hunter, Phillip Whitsett, Gary Brown, George Byer and Mike Mounce.

Lois West Batchelor
Lois West Batchelor, 88, of Van Buren died Sunday, June 6, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church and a retired office manager for Rhodes Chevrolet in Van Buren. She was the widow of Lonnie Batchelor and was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Scott Davenport; her parents, two sisters and three brothers; and her first husband, Warren West.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Hoffman and her husband, Bill, of Fort Smith and Rebecca Davenport of Loganville, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Phyllis Abadie of Springtown, Texas; a son, Phillip West and his wife, Charyn, of Fort Smith; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family will visit with friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 700 Jefferson in Van Buren.

Delmar T. Davidson
Delmar T. Davidson, 94, of Keota, Okla., died Sunday, June 6, 2004, in family’s home. He was a retired teacher, farmer and rancher. He was a member of Star Baptist Church in Star, Okla. He was a member of the Masons and a former member of the Keota Lion’s Club. He was a member of the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Star Baptist Church in Star, Okla., with burial at Keota cemetery under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Kay Robertson of Keota; a sister, Ena Parker of Oakland, Calif.; and one grandchild, Tessa Freeman of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Kenny Adams, Jeff Adams, Jerry Smith, Doug Foster and Terry Garland.

Lawrence William Bowen
Lawrence William Bowen was born at Blackfork on Jan. 6, 1924, and passed away on Monday, June 7, 2004, at the age of 80 years, five months and one day.
He married Marybel Scott of Hicks, Okla., on Jan. 10, 1947, in San Diego and remained her loving husband for 57 years.
Lawrence accepted Jesus as his Savior at Blackfork and was baptized at Highland Avenue Baptist Church in National City, Calif., on Jan. 5, 1947.
Lawrence joined the CCC’s in June of 1940 and remained a member until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1941. He served his country for 24 years and retired in 1965 as a master chief.
He worked as a painter for several years, then did custom hay cutting and baling hay as long as his health permitted. His hobby was raising cattle.
Lawrence joined the Big Creek Baptist Church by letter in 1965 and served as treasurer for a couple of years. He moved his membership to the Hontubby Baptist Church in 1973 and served as the Adult Men’s Sunday school teacher. He later moved his membership back to the Big Creek Baptist Church.
Songs for his service include, “Heaven’s Jubilee,” “I’ll Have A New Life” and “Land Where Waters Flow,” all in four-part harmony.
Preachers for the service are Joe Hayden Hall and Lynn Phillips.
Survivors: his wife, Marybel Scott Bowen of the home; a daughter, Sharon Gail Cox of Sperry, Okla.; grandson, Joel Keith Cox and wife, Tracie Lea, of Greenwood; great-grandson, Connor Joseph and great-granddaughter, Cathleen Michelle, all of Greenwood; sister, Nancy Janway and husband, Charlie, of Heavener; brothers, Marvin Morrison and wife, Geneva, of Heavener, J.D. Morrison and wife, Ruby, of Hawk Point, Mo., Emmitt Morrison and wife, Betty, of Hawk Point, Mo., James Morrison and wife, Bobbie, of Heavener, Billy Morrison and wife, Brenda, of Bluffton, Texas, and Kenneth Morrison and wife, Brenda, of Heavener; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, loved ones and many beloved friends.
Lawrence William Bowen was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Joseph Bowen; his parents, Jess Bowen and Luie Campbell Bowen Morrison; and his stepfather, Cecil Morrison, the only father Lawrence knew from the age of 4. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Edward Bowen, J.B. Bowen, Keith Morrison, Jesse Morrison, Donald Morrison; and sister, Matilda Morrison.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. today at Big Creek Baptist Church with burial at Hontubby cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

Linda Loyd
SUMMERFIELD, Okla. — Linda Kay Loyd, 53, of Summerfield, Okla., died Friday, June 4, 2004, in Poteau. She was born May 20, 1951, in Chanute, Kan. She was a typesetter and graphic artist.
Funeral was held Tuesday at Summerfield Church of Christ with burial at Summerfield cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley; a daughter, Regina Loyd of Summerfield; two sons, Erik McGee of Cameron and Eugene Loyd of Charleston; a sister, Nancy Conrad of Las Vegas; a brother, Steven Beck of Harrisburg, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ray Loyd, Mike Cox, Everett Wheat, Lester Ford, Tony Patterson and Clyde Kinsworthy.

Dan Patterson
Dan W. Patterson, 74, of Fort Smith died Sunday, June 6, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church and retired owner operator of Industrial Glove Cleaners.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. today at Goddard United Methodist Church with burial at Oak cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Billye; one son, Allen Patterson of McKinney, Texas; one sister, Lou Graham of North Port, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Moody, Tex Bayouth, Danny Austin, Jim Rose, Melvin Roberts and Roger Ross.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Wesley Sunday school class of Goddard United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Goddard United Methodist Church, 1922 Dodson Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

William Broumley
ALMA — William F. “Bill” Broumley, 65, of Alma died Sunday, June 6, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a member of Crosslanes Baptist Church and a retired truck driver for Hal Brewer Farms.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Clorine; two daughters, Joyce Doengi and LaWanda Rankin, both of Van Buren; three sons, Tommy Beckham of Alma, Jimmy and Eddie Beckham, both of Kibler; four sisters, Mary Miller and Rita Brown, both of Van Buren, Helen Miller of Judsonia and Lucille Broumley of Boonveville; two brothers, Tommy Broumley of Fort Smith and Porter Welch; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David and Larry Crawford, Eddie Beckham, Willie Wood, Jason Hoyt and J.C. Shipp.

Danny Ford
HARTFORD — Danny McKinley Ford, 57, of Hartford died Monday, June 7, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was an employee of Tyson Foods.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hartford Assembly of God with burial at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Hartford.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Tressie Wilkerson of Hartford and Paula Guess of Mansfield; a son, Phillip Ford of Fort Smith; his father, Bill Ford of Little Rock; four sisters, Carolyn Bell and Sharon Hines, both of Norco, Calif., Mary Bodner of Las Vegas and Kathy Shough of Long Beach, Calif.; three brothers, Edward Ford of Sacramento, Calif., Bob Ford of Norco, Calif., and Gary Ford of Little Rock; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Pete Leavitte, John Guess, Jeff Wilkerson, Kenneth Panis, Eric Ford and Rocky McGee.
The body may be viewed 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Harle Williams
SPIRO — Harle Williams, 62, of Spiro died Monday, June 7, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was Baptist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial at New Hope cemetery in Spiro.
He is survived by his wife, Reba; a daughter, Dana Killian of Spiro; two sons, Duane and David Williams, both of Spiro; his father, Leon Williams of Spiro; a sister, Vera Tackett of Poteau; a brother, J.L. Williams of Spiro; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby McKinney, Buford and Steve Myers, Chris Hargis, Brent Lovell and Kenneth Hargis.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Mark Hodges
Mark Anthony Hodges, 42, of Van Buren died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, in Van Buren. He was a brick mason.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Scranton First Baptist Church with burial of cremains at Wares Chapel cemetery in Dublin under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by a son, Roy Hodges of Scranton; his mother, Mary Hodges of Paris; a sister, Donna Rogers of Russellville; and a brother, Roy Hodges of Scranton.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hazel Simmons
HEAVENER — Hazel Lee Simmons, 93, of Heavener died Monday, June 7, 2004, in Heavener. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial at Memorial Park cemetery in Heavener.
