Mary Doom
FARMINGTON — Mary Elizabeth Spicer Doom, 85, of Farmington died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at home. She was born April 12, 1918, at Scranton and was the daughter of John and Betty Smith Spicer. She was a Baptist and retired in 1978 as the cafeteria supervisor for the Ripon, Calif., school district.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Murry Funeral Home Chapel with burial at McKendree cemetery north of Subiaco, under the direction of Murry Funeral Home in Paris, Ark.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Wood of Prairie Grove, Ark.; three sons, Kenneth Doom of Ripon, Calif., Bill Doom of the home and Larry Neal Doom of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Doug Doom, Doug Wever, Tim Wood, Brian Wood, Doyle Benson and Leon Bradley.
Peggy Deal
Peggy Deloris Walter Deal, 65, of Van Buren died Monday, April 5, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born in Shreveport, La., and was a member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren
She is survived by her husband, Richard Deal of the home; two daughters, Inez Mann and Joanne Inman, both of Van Buren; a son, William Deal of Beebee; her mother, Grace Walter of Wister; five sisters, Betty Van Pelt and Jeannie Nichols, both of Wister; Sharon Earls of Heavener, Diann Pebsworth of Goodwill, Okla. and Becky Higgins of Macks Creek, Mo.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Burkhart, John Ray Jerden, Jerry Mann, Steve Gann, Allen Gibson, Keith Septor and Bobby Jerden.
Alvin McGuire
ROLAND — Alvin “Al” McGuire, 48, of Roland died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in his home. He was a worker for the City of Fort Smith and a member of the Jackson Street Church of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Liberty cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; two daughters, Shaina McGuire of the home and Erica Harper of the Fort Smith; his mother, Joyce Clotfelter of Van Buren; a sister, Lisa Goins of Van Buren; three stepsisters, Judy Wilhelm, Jeanne Winn and Mary Jo Weidman, all of Van Buren; a brother, Mike McGuire of Mangum, Okla.; four stepbrothers, James Clotfelter, Robert Clotfelter and William Clotfelter, all of Natural Dam and Joseph Clotfelter of Van Buren and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Boze, Bryan McGuire, Larry Hargrove, Dobbie Velosky, Lee Rosenzweig and Dennis Fowler.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Charlie G. “Chap” Daniels
Charlie G. “Chap” Daniels, 87, of Fort Smith passed away Monday, March 8, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired dairy farmer and a Lutheran.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Holy Cross cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Waneda L. Daniels; two daughters, Kathryn Spicer and her husband, Harold of Fort Smith and Doris Tibbs and her husband, Milburn of Fort Smith; a son, Wayne Daniels and his wife, Linda of Fort Smith; a sister, Dorothy Cline of Etowah, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Rodney Daniels and his wife, Kelley, Scott Daniels and his wife, Laura, Debra Scott and husband, Tommy, Marla Hicks and her husband, Shawn, Sandra Taylor and her husband, Randy, Cheryl Krone and her husband, James, and Deanna Thompson and her husband, Chris; 12 great-grandchildren, Allie, Tanner, and Reece Daniels, Amber and Ethan Scott, Tosha and Megan Hicks, Rachell Taylor, Hayley and Camron Krone and Christina and Matthew Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Daniels, Scott Daniels, Tommy Scott, Shawn Hicks, Randy Taylor, James Krone and Chris Thompson.
James “Butch” Spesert
James “Butch” Spesert, age 59, of Sheridan died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, in St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock. He was born Oct. 8, 1944, in Scotia, Calif. a son of the late Edwin Spesert and Janeth Thomsen Spesert of Carlotta, Calif. Mr. Spesert was a saw filer for Idaho Timber and served in the Army. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Spesert and a brother, Steve Spesert.
Survivors include his mother, Janeth Spesert of Carlotta, Calif.; his wife, Lucille “Lucy” Inklebarger Spesert of Sheridan; a daughter, Nicole Burks and son-in-law, Brad of Benton; a sister, Kay Thomas of Carlotta, Calif.; granddaughter, Ryan Burks of Benton; and numerous loving relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be Saturday, March 13, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home. The Rev. Brennan Ayers will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Carl Ray Bouchillon
Carl Ray Bouchillon, 39, of Fort Smith died Monday, March 8, 2004, in Fort Smith. He attended First Assembly of God in Van Buren, was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and was formerly of Shawnee, Okla.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Memorial Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Ann Bouchillon of Paden, Okla.; one son, Jeremy Leon Bouchillon of Clayton, Okla.; one stepson, Gregory Owens Sweeten of Oklahoma City; two stepdaughters, Tami LeeAnn Sweeten and Kristimari Ruth Sweeten, both of Paden, Okla.; his father and stepmother, James Henry and Shirley Bouchillon of Fort Smith; his mother, Nella Smith of Muskogee, Okla.; three sisters, Patricia Carter of Muldrow, Connie Jackson of Muskogee, Okla., and Charlotte Waddle of Okmulgee, Okla.; one brother, James Hank Bouchillon of Muskogee, Okla.; also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Orvil Meyer
CANE HILL — Orvil Herbert “Ted” Meyer, 69, of Cane Hill died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in Cane Hill. He was born Jan. 10, 1935, in Fallsville. He served in the Army from 1954 to 1958 and was a member of Cane Hill Masonic Lodge No. 57 and the 32nd degree Shriners.
Graveside service will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Bethesda cemetery in Morrow with 
military honors provided by Northwest Honor Guard of Rogers under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove.
He is survived by his wife, Gerda; five daughters, Scherron Love of Alma, Janet Roy of Lincoln, Carol Meyer of Farmington, Lorie Meyer of Fayetteville, and Emilie Gore of Bentonville; a son, Orvil Meyer Jr. of Cane Hill; four brothers, Delbert and Doy Meyer, both of Stilwell, Okla., Larry Meyer of Evansville and Connie Meyer of Morrow; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Craig and Brian Roy, Joseph and Alan Love, Caleb Gore and Gene Bradshaw.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Edna Robins
Edna Robins, 87, of Van Buren died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker, was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Van Buren and the widow of Melvin Robins.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Van Buren with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by two sons, Willard King of Memphis and Jim King of Dallas; two sisters, Mildred Stevenson of Lawton, Okla., and Erma Briley of Spiro; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church, where the family will visit with friends from 9 to 11 a.m.

HOWE — Jerry Lee Vanhook, 57, of Howe died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a 1964 Howe graduate. He owned and operated Vanhook Sanitation for 30 years, served on the Howe School board for 13 years and was a member of Monroe Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God in Howe with burial at Howe cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Angel Ford; four sons, Johnny of Talihina, Jerry and Russell, both of Howe, and Robert of Wister; and 18 grandchildren.
Leda Dawson
Leda Maurine Dawson, 87, of Van Buren died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was retired medical receptionist for Palo Alto Medical Center in Palo Alto, Calif.
No services are scheduled. The body will be cremated and burial of cremains will be at Cedar Vale cemetery in Cedar Vale, Kan. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Homer Robertson Jr.
POCOLA — Homer Roy Robertson Jr., 59, of Pocola died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born July 5, 1944, in Fort Knox, Ky. He was a retired registered nurse for Spark Regional Medical Center, a Mason and was a member of the Grandview Lodge No. 618 in Grandview, Mo., and Spiro First Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Assembly of God in Spiro with burial at Macedonia cemetery in Pocola under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian; five daughters, Cheryl Alvey of Muldrow, Tracy Duren of Alma, Ami Robertson, Cindy Green and Samantha Robertson, all of Pocola; a son, Rusty of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Vickie Lindeman of Maysville, Okla., and Sylvia Harvey of Van Buren; a stepson, Buford Martin III of Van Buren; his mother, Martha Robertson of Roland; two sisters, Juanita Slaight and Debra Hattabaugh, both of Muldrow; a brother, Phillip Robertson of Pocola; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

DYER — Doris Diann Varnell, 48, of Dyer died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in her home. She was born May 18, 1955, in Houston. She was a homemaker, a member of Liberty Fellowship Church in Van-Alma.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Fellowship Church with burial at Dyer cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Mulberry.
She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy of Missouri, Linda and Mary, both of Houston, and Rosalie of California; her mother, Drewy Sayres of Houston; two sisters, Ruby Richey of Dyer and Dorothy Varnell of Houston; three brothers, Odis and Willie Luther, both of Louisiana, and Roy Luther of Florida; and several grandchildren.

Arthur Harp Sr.
POTEAU — Arthur Lee “Ott” Harp Sr., 77, of Poteau died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Milton, Okla. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He drove the church bus for First Assembly of God for 20 years and was a retired laborer and construction worker for Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corp.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Oakland cemetery Pavilion in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Iva; three sons, Paul Harp of Poteau, Dennis Harp of Calhoun, Okla., and Arthur Harp of Sunny Land Park, N.M.; a brother, Bob Harp of Van Buren; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Helton, Kenny Mize, Ronnie Buckner, Rodney Mattox, Vernon Qualls and Jeff Calloway.
Michael Mohr
WINSLOW — Michael Lee Mohr, 49, of Winslow died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in his home. He was born July 4, 1954, in Washington, Pa. He was a 1972 graduate of Trinity High School in Washington, Pa., was in the marching band and the state rifle team, was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church in Washington, Pa., a former member of the Children of the American Revolution, honorary state president and former National Officer.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Winslow United Methodist Church. Cremation arrangements are by Beard’s Funeral Chapel & Crematory of Fayetteville.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanna; two sons, Matthew Mohr of Fort Smith and Gregory Mohr of Hyde Park, N.Y..; a stepson, Jeremy Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Harry James of Mount Dora, Fla.; two brothers, David Mohr of Rudy and Donald Mohr of Washington, Pa.
