Henrietta Nazworth
LUBBOCK, Texas — Henrietta Clara Armstrong Nazworth, 87, of Lubbock, Texas, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in Lubbock. She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Portales, N.M. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Earth, Texas, the Rebekah Lodge and the Home Demonstration Club. She was the widow of Orbie G. Armstrong and J.R. Nazworth.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Earth with burial at Earth Memorial cemetery under the direction of Parson-Ellis Funeral Home of Earth.
She is survived by four daughters, Joyce Brown of Pottsboro, Texas, Doris Pettitt of Lubbock, Minnie Allen of Fort Smith and Pat Goforth of Hereford, Texas; a stepson, Dean Nazworth of Clarendon, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Earth Memorial cemetery Association, P.O. Box 523, Earth, TX 79031, or Vistacare Family Hospice, 7606 University Ave., Suite C, Lubbock, TX 79423.

Billy Maggard
TULSA — Billy Alvin Maggard, 76, of Tulsa died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in Tulsa. He was a retired master sergeant, serving in the Army for 22 years. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a former resident of Heavener and the widower of Mary Lou Maggard.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial at Page cemetery in Heavener.
He is survived by a daughter, Diedra Creech of Poteau; a son, Billy Ray Maggard of Wister; a stepson, Tony O’Sheilds of Sapulpa, Okla.; three sisters, Loretta Carr and Norma Boggs, both of Tulsa, and Juanita Wade of Broken Arrow; a brother, Ronald Maggard of Tulsa; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Marilee Ross
ALMA — Marilee Ross, 73, of Alma died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, a retired co-owner and operator of Ross Dry Cleaners in Alma and a member of Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene in Alma.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Newberry cemetery in Alma.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde; a daughter, Sheila Boen of Alma; two sons, Stanley Ross of Tontitown and Kevin Ross of Alma; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jason and Joel Boen and Andy and Jon Ross.
Memorial contributions may be made to Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene or to Gideons International.

Marian Carpenter
CAMERON — Marian Agnes Carpenter, 89, of Cameron died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born July 3, 1913, in Pasadena, Calif. She was of the Episcopal faith and a school secretary for 20 years with Los Angeles public schools. She was the widow of Harold Hiram.
The body will be cremated with burial at a later date under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a son, Robert Carpenter of Cameron; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Al Grant
CEDARVILLE — Al Grant, 49, of Cedarville died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, in San Diego. He was born April 13, 1953, in Bakersfield, Calif. He attended Shepards Chapel Church in Gravette.
Graveside service will be at a later date at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by two daughters, Kamie Grant of Arizona and Caitlin Grant of Mountainburg; three sons, Allen Grant of Seattle, Caleb Grant of Mountainburg and Cody Grant of Van Buren; his parents, Max and Louise Grant of Cedarville; two sisters, Penny Grant of Cedarville and Tammy Grant of Van Buren; two brothers, Tim Grant of Greenwood and Bim Grant of Alma; and two grandchildren.

Albert Fout
Albert C. Fout, 91, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in a local hospital. He was retired from Harding Glass Co. and a member of the Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Woodlawn cemetery Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Lotis H. Fout; three daughters, Wanda Gann of Greenwood, Maxine Wells of Mobile, Ala., and Sue Couch of Van Buren; a son, Kenneth Fout of Fort Smith; two sisters, Ophelia Blair of Panama and Tina McElahany of California; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four great-great-granchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

Clyde Shepard Sr.
Clyde Shepard Sr., 77, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a retired foreman for Acme Brick, worked for Jones Oil Co. as a gas attendant and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Dottie Sue Jowers of Van Buren; a son, Clyde Shepard Jr. of Fort Smith; a sister, Willie Kennedy of Fort Smith; two brothers, Claude Shepard of Alma and Winfred Shepard of Golden, Colo.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad and Bryan Shepard, Floyd Tipton, Benny Stovall, William Mullen and Ray Kirkham.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church Building Fund, 5400 Euper Lane, Fort Smith, AR 72903.

John Weitensteiner
STIGLER — John Weitensteiner, 61, of Stigler died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Stigler. He was a retired sheriff sergeant wtih the Benton Sheriff’s Department in Kennewick, Wash.
Memorial and prayer service will be 7 p.m. today at Mallory Funeral Home in Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Weitensteiner; a daughter, Ashly Marie Weitensteiner of the home; a son, Nicholas John Weitensteiner of Spokane, Wash.; two brothers, the Rev. Joseph Weitensteiner of Spokane and William Weitensteiner of Boise, Idaho; and two grandchildren.

Howard McGrath
PANAMA — Howard L. McGrath, 68, of Panama died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, in Panama. He was born March 13, 1934, in Poteau. He was employed in construction.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at New Life Church of Panama with burial at Cowlington cemetery in Cowlington, Okla., under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah; four daughters, Zelda Mecom of Keota, Okla., Wanda Wicks of Tulsa, Mary Jo Ray of Spiro and Kimberley Carlile of Arkoma; four sons, Kyle McGrath of Whitefield, Carroll McGrath and James Francis, both of Spiro, and Roger McGrath of Panama; a sister, Kathy Smith of Shady Point; two brothers, Gary Morris of Wister and Harold Sanders of Fort Smith; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Milton Miller, Dick Aary, Gary Cline and Raymond Scrivener.

Faye DeLong
SPIRO — Faye DeLong, 84, of Spiro died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 4884.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial at Fairview cemetery in Panama.
She is survived by a daughter, Deloris Schram of Keota; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Doy Wilkins, Larry Tuttle, Charlie Beack, Milo Cagel, Donnie Moss and Jerald Ortlieb.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Rudella V. Finsaas
Rudella V. Finsaas, 80, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and she attended St. Luke Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Lyngen and her son, Gaylen Finsaas.
No formal service will be held in Fort Smith. Burial will be at a later date at Highland cemetery in Great Falls, Mont. Arrangements were under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Van Asche of Fort Smith and Marshea Berg of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Darrell Finsaas of Fairview, Mont.; a sister, Stella Goulson of Montevideo, Minn.; two brothers, Edmond Lygen of Montevideo, Minn., and Palmer Lygen of Carthage, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 5401 Free Ferry Road, Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Letha Bell Vaughn
Letha Bell Vaughn, 84, of Van Buren died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was a former employee of Crawford Memorial Hospital and a Baptist. She was the widow of O.R. Vaughn.
Funeral was held Monday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary LaRue of Van Buren; three sons, Clarence Vaughn of Rudy, Lewis Vaughn of Cecil and Billy Vaughn of Van Buren; a brother, Leonard Burkett of California; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Nicholas, David, Ricky and Charles Vaughn and Brian and Barry LaRue.

Maetta L. Jacobs
Maetta L. Jacobs, 64, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was the retired owner of Jacobs Piano and Organ and former co-owner of Hammond Organ Studio of Fort Smith. She was the former organist of Wood Memorial Christian Church of Van Buren, organist and choir director of First United Methodist Church of Van Buren and organist-cantor for the United Hebrew Temple of Fort Smith. She was a member and past matron of Liberty Chapter No. 402 of Eastern Star and past grand organist for the Grand Chapter of the Order of Easter Star of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.E. “Ed” and Lucille Jacobs.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial of cremains at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her guardians, Pat and Rosemary Meyers of Fort Smith; two aunts, Rose Marie Karpierz of Liberty, Mo., and Sue Jacobs of Fort Smith; an uncle, Louis Ricatto of San Clemente, Calif.

Janice Nichols
Janice Nichols, 61, of Greenwood went to be with the Lord, Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002. She was a homemaker, member, choir director and assisted with programs at Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She also did volunteer work with the hearing impaired. She was preceded in death by one son, Brent Nichols, two brothers, Frank and Manuel Childress and two sisters, Debbie and Katie Childress.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Bonanza Assembly of God with burial at Mount Harmony cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Leon Nichols of the home; a son, Rick Nichols and his wife, Tracey of Houston; a sister, Mary Stinson of Hugo, Okla.; and four grandchildren, Amber, Stephanie and Dylan Nichols and Loni Bearden.
Pallbearers will be Doug and Tim Ralston, Caroll Slate, Phillip Puckett and Kenny and Brandon Elmore.
