Irvin McGowan
SALLISAW — Irvin S. McGowan, 83, of Sallisaw died Nov. 28, 2002, in Sallisaw. He was a former Sallisaw police officer, a self-employed mechanic and a member of the Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Kay Plank of Muldrow and Sharon King of Tulsa; four sons, Charles McGowan of Lawton, Okla., Rick Walters and Adrain McGowan, both of Sallisaw, and Jeff McGowan of Mulberry; a sister, Margie House of Kansas City, Mo.; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Todd and Tim McGowan, Donnie Tishner, Ricky and Brandon Walters, Steve Livingston and Ray Gillespie.
The family will visit with friends from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and until the funeral Tuesday.
Cordova Gibson
COOKSON, Okla. — Cordova Arthur “Gib” Gibson, 89, of Cookson died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a self-employed mechanic, a retired heavy equipment operator, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served as a Lutheran elder helping to organize Lutheran churches in California, Tahlequah, Okla., and Sallisaw.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sallisaw with burial at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park cemetery in Enid, Okla., under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Irma Anna Dorothea Gibson; a daughter, Karen Marie Twitty of Clairmont, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Kay Wilson
ROLAND — Katherine A. “Kay” Wilson, 77, of Roland died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in her home. She was retired from Sparks Hospital food service, a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Roland. She was the widow of George W. Wilson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Roland with burial at Roland City cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Roland.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Aguilar of Myrtle Creek, Ore., and Dianna Toleno of Roseburg, Ore.; a son, Aaron Wilson of Roland; two sisters, Della Buchannan and Rosalee Beasley of Missouri; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Albert, Jack, Anthony, Roger and David Cates, Rick Mothershed, Marty Beasley and Kevin Comstock.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sybil Leavell
DOVER — Sybil Grace Leavell, 83, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in Russellville. She was born March 13, 1919, in Lama. She was a retired nurse’s aid with St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, where she worked in the nursery. She was a member of the Dover Church of Christ and the widow of Riley Jackson Leavell.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with burial at McFadden cemetery in Dover.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Helton of Dover and Etta Grant of Alma; seven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

SALLISAW — James A. Pratt, 80, of Sallisaw died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Akins cemetery in Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; three sons, Ralph, Dean and Gary Pratt, all of Sallisaw; a sister, Virgie Weatherly of Wewoka, Okla.; five brothers, Wilford Pratt of Fort Smith, Wayne Pratt of Roland, Floyd Pratt of Parker, Ariz., Edward Pratt of California and Roy Pratt of Minnesota; seven grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robert Suttle, Roger Flute, Richard, Greg, Les and Doug Pratt and Monte Huff.

Arthur Kinkade
OZARK — Arthur Chester Kinkade, 85, of Ozark died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in his home. He was an Army Air Corp and Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, a retired aeronautical engineer, a member of the American Legion and a Catholic. He was the widower of Elizabeth McDougall Kinkade.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark. Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church in Altus with burial at St. Mary’s cemetery.
He is survived by three daughters, Judith Kimball of Ozark, Anne Thomisee of Little Rock and Peggy Garrett of North Little Rock; a son, Keith Kinkade of Billings, Mont.; 26 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
William Wade
William Wade, 79, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he was deacon, usher and member of the Laymen’s Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Clara; four sons, Marcus, Robert and William Wade and Robert Ellingberg; and a brother, Jesse Wade.
Pallbearers will be Adam Webster, Malcom and Kendal Johnson, Alonzo Wilbon, Donald Newton and Ira Harris.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the church.
Goldie B. Carney
Goldie B. Carney, 80, of Rudy died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Kenner Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Evergreen cemetery in Alma.
She is survived by her husband, Grover; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Tommy Wilson of Alma; a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Karen Carney of Rudy; four sisters, Bessie Alexander of Alma, Deanie Downs of Van Buren, June Dillon of Rudy and Tena Vetch of Fort Smith; three brothers, the Rev. Everett Smith and Steve Smith, both of Alma, and Melvin Smith of Poteau; three grandchildren, Kristy Hewitt of Van Buren, Kellie Lehr of Tunston, Calif., and Brian Carney of Maumelle; and two great-grandchildren, Stormy and Alec Hewitt, both of Van Buren.

Zona Poteet Page, 87, of Magazine died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2002, in Paris. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Magazine and the Blue Mountain Extension Club. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Burt, Leonard and Hobart Poteet.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with burial at Bluff View cemetery in Magazine under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by her husband, Cline E. Page; two daughters, Betty Page and Peggy Page Hopkins, both of Magazine; a sister, Mary Poteet of Cauthersville, Mo.; two brothers, Glenn Poteet of Tulsa and Clarence Poteet of Steele, Mo.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Kathy Hopkins of Alamogordo, N.M., Melissa and Tom Fetner of Fayetteville and Chris and Jennifer Hopkins of League City, Texas; and five great-grandchildren.

Wanda Mae Hickerson, 81, of Mansfield died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002.
She was retired from the Army-Air Force Exchange Service and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mansfield.
Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Coope Prairie cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funderal Home in Fort Smith.
She is survived by two nephews, David Drummond and his wife Leslie of Fort Smith; and Dr. Pete Fitzpatrick of Houma, La.; two grand nephews, Clay and Jason Williams, both of Fort Smith; and one grand niece, Judy Drummond of Fort Smith.

Marsha Gail Shoppach
Marsha Gail Shoppach, 66, of Fort Smith died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at her home. She was born Aug. 16, 1936, in Hot Springs. She was a retired elementary school teacher after 33 years of service for the Fort Smith Public Schools System and a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and Jolly Travelers of Grand Avenue. She helped start the Helping Hands Ministry at Grand Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of UMW at Grand Avenue. She was awarded Outstanding Citizen of the State of Arkansas in 1980 and completed Session 99-2 Citizens Police Academy.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grand Avenue Baptist Church with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Shirley Shoppach of Fort Smith; a niece, Sabrina and husband Darren Huckey of Mayflower; a nephew, Steven and wife Farrah Shoppach of Fort Smith; and a great-nephew, Kaleb Huckey of Mayflower.

Samuel E. Baxter, 63, of Mulberry died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, in his home. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; three stepdaughters, Mary Hamm and Inetta Fryar, both of Mulberry, and Debbie Dunmire of Missouri; a stepson, John Whittenburg of Georgia; 11 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

LeRoy Richardson, 54, of Fort Smith entered into rest Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in his home. He was born July 18, 1948, in Chickasha, Okla. He was retired from civil service at Fort Chaffee, a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Mount Zion CME Methodist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Bausley and Schelly Haney, both of Fort Smith; three sons, Donya and Danya Richardson and Colton Foreman, all of Fort Smith; five sisters, Myra Saville of Omaha, Neb., Melvia Sutton of Wichita, Kan., Mary Jo Jordan of Lee Summit, Mo., Edna Jean Richardson of Fort Smith and Jo Ann Brock of Roland; seven brothers, David and Jimmy Richardson, Danny Ray Ogles and Kermit Ogles Jr., all of Fort Smith, Glenn Richardson of Alma, Jerry Richardson of Somersette, N.J., and Gary Richardson of Fayetteville; and five grandchildren.

J. Haskell Smith, 92, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in his home. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Adult Men’s Sunday school class. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre and a member of the Ellig-Stouffer American Legion Post No. 31. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie “Lorene” Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m Tuesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by a sister, Johnnie Dempsey of Lake Hinkle; and several nieces and nephews.
