Delmar “D.C.” Quinalty, 82, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Full Gospel Church in Mulberry and retired from Covey Company.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Millie of the home; three sons, Tommy, Robert and Gilbert Quinalty, all of Fort Smith; a sister, Wanda Pate of Fort Smith; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Elam, Bryan Harms, Clayton and Jamie Quinalty, Jimmy and Timmy Salokar.
James “J.W.” Johnson
James “J.W.” Johnson, 82, of Fort Smith died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and a retired supervisor and foreman for Ward-DeSoto Furniture.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Owens Johnson; a sister, Doris Torres of Wofford Heights, Calif.
Pallbearers will be Bobby and Phillip Owens, Jack Webb, Mark Lewis, Terry Felder and Roy Hamilton.

Gail Finney
Gail Finney, 50, of Oxford, Miss., passed from this life Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, following a short illness. She was a pharmacist at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi. She was a member of the North Oxford Baptist Church where she sang in the Sanctuary Choir and was active in Women on Missions. A native of Fort Smith, she graduated from Hendrix College in Conway with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and moved to Oxford in the mid-1970s to attend the University of Mississippi where she subsequently earned a master’s degree in medicinal chemistry, a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and a master’s degree in hospital pharmacy. In 2000, she was awarded a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She formerly served as an instructor in Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi. She was a member of the Mississippi Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Mississippi Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and four honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Chi, Phi Kappa Phi and Rho Chi. She held a license to practice pharmacy in Mississippi and Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Nolan and Louise Finney of Fort Smith. She is survived by a brother, Lyndon and wife, Donna of Little Rock; two nieces, Christa and Merritt Finney, both of Little Rock; a nephew, the Rev. Shawn Finney and wife, Pam of Columbia, Tenn., a special friend, Dr. Henry B. Pace of Oxford, Miss. and a host of friends at North Oxford Baptist Church and Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, Miss. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at North Oxford Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Richardson and the Rev. Shawn Finney officiating. Burial will be at North Oxford Baptist Church cemetery.

Fletcher Preston “Ike” Hill
Fletcher Preston “Ike” Hill, 82, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was born March 3, 1920, in Coal Hill to Herschel Hill and Elizabeth Quaile. He served in the Air Force during World War II and retired from Civil Service in 1973. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Toemmel Hill.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith with the Rev. Ron Williamson officiating in the services.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Hal Farnsworth of Carrollton, Texas and Ellen and Al Caldwell of Fort Smith; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Connie Hill of Great Bend, Kan. and Jim and Nancy Hill of Fort Smith; two sisters, Cohene Hill of Portland, Ore., and Gretchen Hill of Fort Smith; a brother and sister-in-law, Herschel and Lucille Hill of Coal Hill; two brothers-in-law, Wilson Williams of Fort Smith and Gerad Neihouse of Coal Hill; five grandchildren, Shannon Reininger, Corey, Dean, Dan and Doug Hill; a stepgrandson, Bryan Groesbeak; five great-grandchildren, Jack D. Hill, Hanna, Wade, Travis and Lauren Hill and one great-stepgranddaughter, Jacey Manning.
Pallbearers will be Dean, Dan, Doug Hill, Bryan Groesbeck, Keith Reininger and Gerad Neihouse.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Betty Farris, 71, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a resident of Van Buren, a member of Van Buren First Presbyterian Church, the Crawford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star in Gary, Ind., Compassionate Ministries and Station Master for the Chamber of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal B. Farris and a brother, Robert Graham.
Funeral will be 9 a.m. Friday at Van Buren First Presbyterian Church with burial of cremains at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived two daughters, Terry Watson of Van Buren and Laura Cyr and her husband, Henry Antolak of Rolla, Mo.; two sons, Joseph Cyr of Hammond, Ind., and George Cyr and his wife, Cheryl of Fort Smith; a brother, George Graham and his wife, Carol of Tulsa; four grandchildren; Christopher Watson, David and Amy Cyr and Autumn McEachern; best friend, Lola Butler of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Peterson and Dan and Andy Comstock.

Angel Nicole Dunn, 10 months, of Hartford departed this life Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was born Nov. 13, 2001, in Fort Smith daughter of Travis and Cassie Dunn. Angel was a member of Hartford Baptist Church. Carrol Meeks
HEAVENER — Carrol Meeks, 59, of Heavener died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in Heavener. He was born July 29, 1943, in Poteau. He was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of the Wister area. He was a rancher and worked as ring man at Poor Boy Livestock Auction for a number of years.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister with burial at Ellis Chapel cemetery in Wister under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; a daughter, Paula Titsworth of Hatfield; a son, Kenneth “Brother” Meeks of Heavener; a sister, Yvonne Dassler of Wister; five brothers, Wayne and Melvin Meeks of Wister, Gerald Meeks of Howe and Mack and Claude Smith of Wister; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
John Kincheloe
SPARKS, Nev. — John Garner Kincheloe, 72, formerly of Davis, Calif., died Nov. 29, 2002, in Sparks, Nev. He was born April 28, 1930, in Crawford County. He and his wife, Betty, moved to Davis in 1958, where they lived until August of this year. He worked as animal resource supervisor for the University of California at Davis from 1959 to 1990 and was a member of the Northern California Horseshoe Association. He wintered at a second residence in Rancho Casa Blanca, Calif., near Palm Springs.
Private burial will be at Monument Hills cemetery in Woodland, Calif., followed by a public memorial service at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Poleline Baptist Church in Davis under the direction of Walton Funeral Home of Reno.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Cyndi Kincheloe of Arbuckle, Calif.; a son, Keith Kincheloe of Grass Valley, Calif.; three sisters, Ruth Ann Bell and Lucy Gelly, both of Dublin, Calif., and Edna Clegg of Leland, N.C.; a brother, Bob Kincheloe of Davis; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Opal Lawrence
Opal Wasson Lawrence, 86, of Fort Smith died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Walnut Street Freewill Baptist Church in Fort Smith and a tailor for Arcade Men’s Store and Hunt’s Department Store.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Roland City cemetery in Roland under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Earl; a daughter, Barbara Elkins of Fort Smith; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Gene Stumpff
JAMESTOWN, N.C. — Gene A. Stumpff, 68, of Jamestown, N.C., died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in his home. He was a native of Fort Smith. He graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1952 and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arkansas in 1956. He started his career as an engineer with the Highway Department in Arkansas. He started his furniture career as an executive at Ward Furniture in Fort Smith, then served as general manager of DeSoto Inc. in Arkansas and Mississippi. He was a past president of Hammary Furniture in Lenoir, N.C., and president of Stumpff & Associates with his son, Chris. He served on the SFMA Board and the American Machinery Board and was an Army captain.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jamestown United Methodist Church under the direction of Hanes-Lineberry Funral Home Sedgefield Chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Bailey Stumpff; three sons, Chris Stumpff of Greensboro, N.C., Randy Stumpff of Alpharetta, Ga., and Scott Stumpff of Mandeville, La.; a sister, Ruth Ellerbroek of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends in the church parlor after the service.

Marie Nichols
Marie Nichols, 64, of Fort Smith died Dec. 1, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a retired licensed practical nurse with 40 years of service with Sparks Regional Medical Center and a member of Heritage Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Heritage Baptist Church with burial at Cross cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by eight sisters, Deana Smith of Aberden, Miss., Mae Barner of Russellville, Zenea Lockwood of Roland, Faye Durham and Mary Hurst, both of Fort Smith, Opal Jordan and Sharon Highfill, both of Ozark, and Sharon Emberton of Chester; and three brothers, C.J. “Junior” Nichols and Harlin B. and Don Nichols, all of Ozark.
Pallbearers will be Calvin, Myron and Lance Lockwood, Andy and Terry Highfill and Lloyd Riggs.

Vashti Scantling
OKLAHOMA CITY — Vashti Allen Scantling, 87, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Spiro, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in Oklahoma City. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spiro, the OEA and the NEA.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Spiro with burial at Spiro City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by her husband, Alton Kyle Scantling of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Pamela Maurer of Clinton, Wash., and Piper Riddle of Bethany, Okla.; a sister, Faye Bulin of Montesano, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until the time of service.
Mildred Carter
OZARK — Mildred R. Carter, 80, of Ozark died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in an area hospital. She was a member of Etna Church of Christ and a nurse’s aide for Ozark Nursing Home. She was the widow of Walter Carter. She was born Oct. 19, 1912, in St. Joe, Texas.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at William cemetery in Johnson County under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by three daughters, Ardith Quick of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Bea Taylor and Mary Beneux, both of Ozark; a son, Clyde Carter of Reeds Spring, Mo.; a stepson, William Carter of Eudora, Kan.; a brother, Deward Morgan of California; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Ozark Nursing Home.
Edna McCarley
Edna McCarley, 63, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 6, 1939, in Kingston, N.Y. She was a sales clerk for Coach House for 15 years and a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; a daughter, Mary Karlsson of Van Buren; two sons, Kenneth of Van Buren and Tony of Fort Smith; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Wagoner, Shawn Lamont, Joey Moore, Randy Roper, Scott Klomfas and Brian Taff.
The body may be viewed beginning at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ARKOMA — Laura L. Breazzeal, 79, of Arkoma died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 22, 1923, in Charleston. She was a homemaker.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roland City cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Davis and Kim and Christina Breazzeal, all of Arkoma; a son, Jim Breazzeal of San Pedro, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Capehart of Arkoma and Betty Barrett of Orville, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed only from noon until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
