Dr. Robert J. Thompson
Dr. Robert J. Thompson, 80, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a retired physician for Thompson and Thompson P.A., a member of First United Methodist Church, the American Medical Association, Arkansas Medical Society and Sebastian County Medical Society and the American Academy of Family Practice. He was chief of staff of both St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center and Sparks Regional Medical Center, past president of Sebastian County Medical Society. He was an assistant professor at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock and was veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. James Thompson.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist sanctuary with burial of cremains at First United Methodist Church Columbarium under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; two daughters, Diane Manering of Orangevale, Calif., and Barbara Karber of Lavaca; a sister, Mary Minta Thompson of Fort Smith; five grandchildren, Kelsey, Stan and John Karber, all of Lavaca, Ryan McAlllister of Nebraska and Lauren Barrera of San Diego; and two great-grandchildren, Kayli and Rami Barrera, both of San Diego.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gleaners Sunday school class.
Family will greet friends after the service in the parlor of First United Methodist Church.

Bobby Joe Linton
Bobby Joe Linton, 52, of Fort Smith died Monday, May 20, 2002, in his home. He was born July 8, 1949, in Russellville where he graduated from high school. He worked for Ramada Inn in Russellville in kitchen services. After moving to Fort Smith, he worked for Wortz Biscuit Company. He had been associated with Western Arkansas Counseling and Guidance Center through the N.E.W. program for 15 years and served as a unit leader during this time. He was a devoted member of Bobby Hogan Ministries.
The body will be cremated. A memorial service is planned at 10 a.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, 201 N. 12th St. in Fort Smith. The service will be led by his extended family of the N.E.W. Center.
He is survived by his mother, Helen Crider of LaGrange, Ind., and his aunt, Mrs. William R. Mitchell of Pottsville.

Stanley Clinton Perkins
Stanley Clinton Perkins, 68, of Fort Smith died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was retired from the Navy and was part owner of the Quality Artificial Limb Company of Fort Smith.
No formal services will be held in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Perkins of Fort Smith; two sons, Michael Lee Perkins and Jerry Keith Perkins, both of Hickory, N.C.; three brothers, Carroll Thomas Perkins of Fort Smith, J.D. “Perk” Wellman of Charlotte, N.C., and David Edward Perkins of Muldrow; and 11 grandchildren, Michael Lee Perkins Jr., Elizabeth Denise Perkins, William Thomas Franklin, Clerman Heath Moore, Brandon Keith Perkins, Brian Dean Perkins, Nicole Duersel Perkins, Shane Craig Moses, Talina Vecia May Saline, Ronald Dale Smith Jr. and Arron Barnhill.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Roma Denise Perkins, a son, Thomas Clinton Perkins, his parents, Ernie Clinton and Mae Belle Perkins and a sister, Roma Delano Perkins.

Lonnie Lee Wallace
Lonnie Lee Wallace, 64, of Fort Smith died Monday, May 27, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the D.A.V., American Legion and the VFW.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Christi D. Javana of Ocean View, Calif.; two sons, Ricci Wallace of Port Angelo, Wash. and William Wallace of Hackett; his father, L.J. Wallace of Van Buren; a sister, Rose Ann Pena of Liberty; a brother, Ronald E. Wallace of Liberty; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John and Casey Pena, Cecil Duty, John Ross, Wade Riggs and Lester Wallace Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Allen and Eric Simpson.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

George F. Goodfellow
George F. Goodfellow, 79, of Fort Smith died Monday, May 27, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a retired parts and service manager for Rheem Manufacturing Company for more than 45 years, a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hardscrabble County Club, Delta Kappa Epsilon and a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. He was also a avid golfer.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church with burial of cremains at First Presbyterian Columbarium under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly of the home; a daughter, Carol Ann Jordan and husband, Alan of Issaquah, Wash.; two sons, Donald and his wife, Martha Goodfellow of Simpsonville, S.C. and Robert and his wife, Sheila Goodfellow of Fort Smith; a sister, Elsie Schacht of Walnut Creek, Calif.; five grandchildren, Katy Rebar of Seattle, Chris Jordan of Issaquah, Wash., Matt Goodfellow of Fairview, Ore., Dana Goodfellow of Simpsonville, S.C., and Greyson Goodfellow of Fort Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robin Lee, Jerry O’Mara, Bill Pussehl, Gene Hefley, Mike Cullen and Olan Nincehelser.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 116 North 12th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901 or charity of donor’s choice.

Maxine W. Watkins
Maxine W. Watkins, 73, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born in Las Vegas and lived in California until moving to Fort Smith in 1966. She was a member of Massard Missionary Baptist Church and a retired registered nurse and a homemaker.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Oliver Springs cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Edward Watkins of the home; a daughter, Rebecca Watkins Bregy of Maumelle; two sons, Terry and Gary Watkins, both of Fort Smith; three foster daughters, Anna Maria Guerrero of Maumelle, Nidia Oshiero of Little Rock and Pat Temple of Las Vegas; a brother, Jay DeBrinck of Gila Bend, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mick and Travis Watkins, Josh Bregy, Jim Abbey, Ty McNatt, Joe Cook and Joe Temple.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lucile Dawson
Lucile Dawson, 92, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a retired seamstress for Tucker Duck and Rubber and a member of Oak Cliff Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Oak Cliff Baptist Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two sons, Dale Dawson of Fort Smith and Arthur Dawson of Somerset, Ky.; a sister, Clarissa Timmons of West Fork; five grandchildren, Preston Williams, Daniel and Amanda Dawson, Chandra Martin and Karen Reed; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Taylor, Wayne Sandusky, Gary Don Reed, Giles Helbling, Larry Biggs, James Carty, Don Spradling, Dan Swink, Merle Strunks, R. Travis Douglas and Don Temple.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the home of Dale Dawson.

Allen Hilton
MENA — Allen Autry “A.A.” Hilton, 92, of Mena died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was born March 20, 1910, in Board Camp. He was a farmer and a school bus driver and worked with the 1930 Census mapping of farms for Soil Conservation, worked at U.S. Motors and Western Auto and a member of First Baptist Church of Mena where he served as deacon and Sunday school director. He was the widower of Lois Philpot Hilton.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Mena with burial at Cherry Hill cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by a daughter, Kate Patterson of Mena; a son, Bill Hilton of Bartlesville, Okla.; five grandchildren, Keith Hilton of Flower Mound, Texas, Karen Cox of Bartlesville, Okla., Wayne Patterson of Houston, Paul Patterson of DeRidder, La., and Nancy Patterson of Greenbrier; eight great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Barbara Bennett
HOWE — Barbara Bennett, 63, of Howe died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Waldron. She was a member of Church of God Seventh Day in Wister.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Howe with burial at Howe cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Aurelia Miller of Cavina, Calif., and Laura Clepper of Waldron; four sons, Oscar Benson of Farmington, N.M., Michael Benson of Redfield, Timmy Benson of Midlothian, Texas, and Kevin Benson of Menominee, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Connie Harrison of Sun City, Calif.; a stepson, Russell Bennett of Shady Point; three sisters, Joan Jolly and Wilma Sweetman, both of Wynnewood, Okla., and Linda Graham of Maysville, Okla.; two brothers, J.L. Whiteaker of Oklahoma City and Donald Joe Whiteaker of Wynnewood, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ira Bullard
HEAVENER — Ira Bullard, 79, of Heavener died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Poteau. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired florist and former owner and operator of Bullard’s Flower Shop in Heavener and assistant manager of Marvin’s IGA and a member of First Baptist Church where he served as deacon, a member and former commander of Heavener American Legion Post No. 188.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with burial at Memorial Park in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Mable; two sisters, Sybil Franklin of Heavener and Katherine Tookey of Hackett; and a brother, Paul of Gulfport, Miss.

Martin Hoyt Sr.
Martin E. Hoyt Sr., 72, of Fort Smith died Monday, May 27, 2002, in Greenwood. He was retired from the Army, a purchasing agent for St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was the widower of Josepha Hoyt.
Mass will be 10 a.m. today at St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial and military honors at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Joanne Gomez of Newton, Kan.; a son, Martin E. Hoyt Jr. of Lavaca; a sister, Phyllis Fisher of Marion, Ind.; two brothers, Edward Hoyt of Marion and Paul Hoyt of Bluffton, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Justin and Zachary Hoyt, Robby, Christie, Jamie, Kelly, Cory and Jacy Gomez and Sherry Penner.
Pallbearers will be Robby Gomez, Bill Morgan, LeRoy Brown, Mike and Richard DeLong and Kevin Peoples.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church Building Fund, 1820 North B St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Robert Hudson
PARIS — Robert L. “Bob” Hudson, 66, of Paris died Tuesday, May 28, 20202, in Paris. He was a retired truck driver and was of the Assembly of God faith.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Caulksville cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy; two daughters, Barbara Emery of Tecumseh, Okla., and JoAnn Eckelhoff of Paris; a son, Michael Robert Hudson of Paris; two brothers, Normall Hudson of Conway, S.C., and Jack Hudson of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Core, Bob Isbell, John Dickens, Wayne Roman, Jimmy Billingsley and Fidel Alao.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Marion Brasuell
RICHMOND, Va. — Marion Brasuell, 52, of Richmond, Va. died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in Richmond. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of Freewill Baptist Church and a former resident of the area.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Macedonia Arbor cemetery near Uniontown under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by a daughter, Tonya Rodgers of Richmond, Va.; a son, Bill Brasuell of Richmond, Va.; five sisters, Judy Bowles of Winslow, Jane Howard of Greenwood, Geneva Hopkins of Spiro, Shirley Shelly of Van Buren and Phchilla Thompson of Fort Smith; two brothers, John and Melvin Brasuell, both of Van Buren; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Josh and Justin Bowles, Scotty and John Shelly Jr., and Robert and Todd Small.

Odell Deer
BOONEVILLE — Odell Deer, 70, of Booneville died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired welder and a veteran of the Korean War.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at French Prairie cemetery in Ione under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; four daughters, Teresa Ann Arnold of Booneville, Cynthia Kay Deer of Midland, Renee Wooten of Spiro and Sandra Salee of Los Angeles; three sons, Stanley Deer of Waldron and Eric Wayne Deer of the home and Randy Deer of Bakersfield, Calif.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dallas Russell
SALLISAW — Dallas E. Russell, 75, of Sallisaw died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Sallisaw. He was born Nov. 4, 1926, in Sequoyah County. He was a laborer and a Protestant. He was the widower of Rosa Dale Randall Russell and Charlene Calloway Russell.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Gans cemetery.
No known survivors.
The body may be viewed 1 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
