Edward Choi Jr.
Edward Choi Jr., 24, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a line worker for O.K. Industries and a member of the Catholic Church.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. today in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his father, Edward Choi Sr. of Fort Smith; his mother, Cynthia Evans Choi of Fort Smith; a sister, Eva Choi of Fort Smith; and a brother, David Choi of Fort Smith.
Sister Maurus Witt
Sister Maurus Witt, 68, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a certified dietitian and was manager for the St. Scholastica Gift Shop. She made her profession of faith Aug. 9, 1953.
Vespers will be 7:15 p.m. Sunday at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel in Fort Smith.
Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel with burial at St. Scholastica cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by sisters of her religious community; three sisters, Fern Stallsmith and Rita Cook, both of Tulsa, and Mary Jo Tetreault of Catossa, Okla.; two brothers, Jack Witt of Clayton, Okla., and Vincent Witt of Catossa, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Heavener, Eddie Gomez, Davy Tetreault, Mark and Dennis Cook and Norbert Witt.

Gene Watkins
Gene “Hooley” Watkins, 70, Van Buren died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in his home. He was an Army veteran of 24 years serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars, a retired truck driver for Film Transit and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith with full military honors under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; two daughters, Nancy Herod of Cedarville and Joy Watkins of Van Buren; a son, Ronnie Watkins of Alma; a sister, Patsy Swindle of Norman; a brother, James Watkins of Guy; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Julian, Toby Atwell, Eual Knapp, Justin Blasingame, Jim Carter, Howard and B.B. Ballard and Bryum White.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mary Poynor
CLARKSVILLE — Mary Ann Poynor, 78, of Clarksville died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Harrison. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville and the Clarksville Ladies Golf Association.
Memorial service at a later date. The body was cremated under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Ed; and a daughter, Nancy Ann Bassett of Albuquerque, N.M.

Betty Fox
Betty Doerr Fox, 84, of Fort Smith died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 13, 1917, in St. Louis. She was a homemaker, past member of American Business Women, past member of Professional Business Women, a member of Seroptomist and was Presbyterian. She was the widow of Duke Fox.
Private memorial service at a later date. The body was cremated under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a son, Ralph Fox of Atlanta; a brother, Louis J. Doerr of St. Louis; and two grandchildren, John Fox of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Jeff Fox of Phoenix.
Walter Collins
Walter Wesley Collins, 74, of Fort Smith died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired building inspector for Superior Federal Bank, a former pastor of Maple Grove Church of God in Neodesha, Kan., and the Green Mound Church of God in Wayland, Iowa. He was a member of Fort Smith High School Class of 1946, a member and deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith, a former choir director and Sunday school superintendent at the church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in First Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Steep Hill cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sons, Charles Michael Collins of Fort Smith and Edward Dale Collins of Benton; his mother, Minnie Williams Collins of Fort Scott, Kan.; two sisters, Emma Allen and Maxine McDow, both of Fort Scott, Kan.; a brother, Richard Collins of Belle Plaine, Kan.; and one grandson.
Pallbearers will be trustees and deacons of First Free Will Baptist Church.
The family will visit with friends at 5220 North O Street.

Foye Gentry
MENA — Foye Lee Gentry, 71, of Mena, formerly of Houston, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Rockcomfort, Mo. He was an Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War and was a prisoner of war. He was a professor at University of Alaska and ran for state senator. He was president of the Alaska Power Plan and retired from Ross-Hill Controls as an electrical engineer in Texas. He continued to consult for Ross-Hill and was a farmer.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Mena Church of God with burial at Concord cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; a son, Foye Gentry Jr. of Washington; two stepdaughters, Sheri Bonds of Crosby, Texas and Collen Strother of Ink; three stepsons, Dan Ritchel of Houston, Mark Ritchel of Beaumont, Texas, and Jerry Ritchel of Effingham, Ill.; three sisters, Faye Davis of Port Orchid, Wash., Shirley Peterson of Hagerman, Idaho, and Florence Farmer of Napa, Idaho; two brothers, Ray Gentry of Sedona, Ariz., and Lewis Gentry of Christmas Valley, Okla.
Pallbearers will be Dan and Mark Ritchel, Johnny Bonds, Eddie Strother and Ron Sharp.
Evelyn Dunford
Evelyn Naomi Dunford, 92, of Van Buren died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Van Buren. She was a member of the Kelly Heights Baptist Church and was retired from the Camarillo State Hospital in California where she was employed as a licensed psychiatric technician.
A gathering of remembrance will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Oakland cemetery in Russellville. Local arrangement were under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Dina Nordby of Mansfield and Dana Davidson of Van Buren; her twin sister, Ethlyn Farmer of Van Buren; five grandchildren, Daniel Hackney of Greenwood, Mary Burks and Carolynn King, both of Van Buren, Naomi Elkins and Angela Lehnen, both of Fort Smith; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Beulah Howell
BIXBY, Okla. — Beulah C. Howell, of Bixby, Okla. died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002. She was born Aug. 14, 1912, in Muldrow. She was a member of the Bixby Free Will Baptist Church for 45 years. She was the widow of John Howell.
Funeral was held Tuesday at Bixby Free Will Baptist Church with graveside service at 2 p.m. today at Blackjack cemetery in Muldrow under the direction of Leonard & Marker Funeral Home of Bixby, Okla.
She is survived by two daughters, Gail of Tulsa and Janelle of Haskell; six sons, J.W. of Idaho, Bob, Don and Jerry of Bixby, Okla., and Hayden of Keifer and Darrell of Sapulpa, Okla.; 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Brian, Johnny, Mike, Jerry “Chubba” and Michael Howell and Gary “Butch Yocham.
Joan Maursey
Joan Siebelink Maursey, 65, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, in Fort Smith. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1957 from Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and was a former intensive care unit nurse for St. Edward Mercy Medical Center and former director of nursing for Methodist Nursing Home, a member of Goddard United Methodist, vice president Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs, president of Greater Fort Smith Council of Garden Club, a member of Beta Sigma Phi and chairperson of the Worship Committee of Goddard United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Goddard United Methodist Church in Fort Smith. Cremation will follow the funeral service under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Kendall; a daughter, Michell Maursey of Pontiac, Mich.; a sister, Charlotte Slenk of Holland, Mich.; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Paul Moser, Robert Gattis, Jim Woodward, Jack Ragon, Hilton Beaty, Charles Johnson, Jimmy Daniel and Harold Braswell.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — William H. Cook, 80, of Daytona Beach, Fla., formerly of Fort Smith, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in Daytona Beach. He was a retired major and veteran of World War II and the Korean War and retired from the Corp of Engineers, a farmer and a member of First United Methodist Church.
No formal service will be held in Fort Smith. Burial will be at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; two sons, William H. Cook of Carbondale, Colo., and Roger Cook of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Alta Coleman
Alta Coleman, 87, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was born March 26, 1914, in Mulberry. She was a homemaker and a member of First Lutheran Church and the widow of Warren Coleman.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National Cemtery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Broadway of Nederland, Texas; a sister, Leathel Baxter of Van Buren; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

MOUNTAINBURG — Faye Simco, 75, of Mountainburg died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a member of Pigeon Creek Free Will Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Pigeon Creek Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Bidville cemetery in Crawford County under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; a son, John Simco of Mountainburg; two sisters, Thelma Del Rossi of Mount Ephrain, N.J., and Garnett Farris of Greenwood; three brothers, Kenith Birchfield of Alma, Warren Birchfield of Bidville and Doug Birchfield of Mountainburg; and one grandchild.

Cornelia McKinney
POTEAU — Cornelia K. McKinney, 86, of Poteau died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in Little Rock. She was born July 11, 1915, in Williams, Okla. She was a business owner of an upholstery repair and antique shop. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of First United Methodist Church of Poteau and the widow of W.J. McKinney.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau.
She is survived by a son, William J. McKinney Jr. of Roland; a sister, Juanita Tanner of Poteau; four grandchildren, Joseph Lindsey McKinney of Perryville, Christopher Bryan McKinney of Roland, Wesley Jacob McKinney of Russellville and Jamie Leann McKinney of Roland and three great-grandchildren.

HACKETT — Doyce Robert Miller, 83, of Hackett died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in his home. He was an Army veteran and prisoner of war of World War II, a retired plumber, a member of Hackett First Baptist Church and a 50-year member of Plumbers Union Local No. 460 of Bakersfield, Calif.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene; three daughters, Barbara Brown, Patsy Lewis and Judy Mills, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; four stepdaughters, Paula Cass of Hackett, Karen Donaldson, Melanie Garner and Lisa McBride, all of Fort Smith; a stepson, Tommy Shelton of Hackett; two sisters, Ella Price of Caddo Gap and Sylvia Cogburn of New Hope; a brother, Lonnie Miller of Caddo Gap; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Randy Jones, Joe Carlton, Marlin Donaldson, Ben Fisher, Tommy Shelton and Mark Garner.
