Ray Gillet
Ray Gillet, 60, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and of the Nazarene faith. He was a meat cutter for Wal-Mart No. 125. He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Marie Gillet, his parents, two sisters, Pearl and Marie, and a brother, Paul.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Judy L. Gillet of the home; four daughters, Judy Dugan of Alma, Tammy Rogne and Angela Ewald, both of Fort Smith, and Leanna Chrisman of Greenwood; a sister, Lucille Collins of Fort Smith; three brothers, Bill Gillet of California, Jim Gillet of Roland and Tommy Gillet of Fort Smith; 17 grandchildren; and special friends, Norman and Kathy Moore and Charles Glass and many more friends.
Pallbearers will be Rudy Salinas, James Bell, Jurden Dugan, Brian Rogne, Peter Ewald and Michael Chrisman.
The family will visit with friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Claus Henry Cohrt Jr.
Claus Henry Cohrt Jr., 77, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was born Oct. 5, 1924, in Stuttgart, to Claus Hans and Laura Cohrt Sr.
He was of the Lutheran faith and was the service manager for 32 years for White Butane in Pine Bluff.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church in Van Buren. Burial will be at a later date at Memorial Park cemetery in Pine Bluff. Services are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
Mr. Cohrt is survived by his wife, Hattiellen Cohrt of the home; four daughters, Trace Ellyene Poole of Fort Smith, Pardene Jarman and husband, Lonnie of Fort Smith, Barbara Olsen of Bryant and Lauren Sheeler of Little Rock; four sons, Marvin Cohrt and Frederick Cohrt and wife, Mary, all of Pine Bluff, Harry Dean Cohrt and wife, Rhonda of Pine Bluff and Lawrence David Vanderpoole and wife, Debra of Minneapolis; a sister, Margaret Fines of Columbia, Mo.; five grandchildren, Michael and Jack R. Goodwin, both of Fort Smith, Travis and wife, Sarah Sudbury of Bryant, Terry and wife, Valerie Sudbury of Tulsa and Mandy Jarman of Fort Smith and one great-grandchild, Abigail Sudbury.

Lyda Busby
Lyda Winn Busby, 97, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in a nursing home. She was born Jan. 10, 1905, in Stilwell, Indian Territory, which later became Oklahoma. She moved to Fort Smith in 1924, working for Bassham and Wheeler Architects and as a secretary for Mayor Jim Jordan. She returned to Fort Smith in 1955 after living in Mobile, Ala., for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a sister, Ruth Bassham of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; four nieces, Carollyn Guidry of Dallas, Marillyn Scholl of Rancho Cucamonga, Dovie Tinsley of Fort Smith and Sue Hughes of DeRidder, La.; two nephews, Jim Winn of Fort Smith and Howard Bassham of Valey, Wash.; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Clifton Peeples
OLATHE, Kan. — Clifton Earl Peeples, 77, of Olathe, Kan., died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at an Olathe hospital. He was born July 14, 1924, in Lamar. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe and was retired from Allied Signal after 34 years. He was an Army sergeant in World War II and was active in Boy Scout Troop No. 86 and Little League baseball.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today in W.L. Frye & Son Funeral Home in Olathe.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Frazier Peeples; two daughters, Dana Alley and Sandy Herrington, both of Olathe; three sons, Ronald of Denver and Randy and Scott, both of Harrisonville, Mo.; two sisters, Gladys Mattox of Fort Smith and Helen Binkley of Las Vegas; a brother, Heartsill Peeples of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 9 to 11:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.

FAYETTEVILLE — Bailey Wright, 66, of Fayetteville died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in a Springdale hospital. He was born Aug. 15, 1935, in Fort Smith. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a longtime employee of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Nelson’s Funeral Home in Fayetteville with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Siloam Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Letha Toby Wright; four sisters, Beverly Stallings, Ada Faye Younger and Mary E. Grant, all of Fort Smith, and Bessie W. Pack of Muldrow; a brother, Chuck Johnson of Fayetteville.
The body may be viewed from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

OZARK — Mollie G. Andrew, 92, of Ozark died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in an area hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1909, in the German settlement of Kiev, Ukraine. She was retired after 35 years in nursing. She was a homemaker and the widow of Ralph Andrew.
A private family funeral will be Tuesday in Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Hodges of Ozark and Shirley Huls of Lincoln, Neb.; a son, Richard Andrew of Gaston, Ore.; two sisters, Freda Coen and Florence Martin, both of Torrinton, Wyo.; six brothers, William, John, Herman, Robert, Pete and Edward Domson; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

STIGLER — Ruthie Easley Goines, 39, of Stigler died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Old Bokoshe cemetery in Bokoshe under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by her son, Mickey Goines of Stigler; two sisters, LaDonna Henry of Kingsland, Ga., and Linda Austin of Las Vegas; and two brothers, John Goines of Stigler and Ray Nipps of Fresno, Calif.
Rex Hixson
PARIS — Rex Hixson, 82, of Paris died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Paris. He was a retired poultry farmer and a member of Catholic War Veterans, Disabled Veterans and American Legion Post No. 121 in Paris.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial at St. Joseph cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalyn Zimmer Hixson; three sons, Richard Hall of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Bob and Joe Hall, both of Tulsa; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

LeAnn Ray
SALLISAW — LeAnn Nicholson Ray, 38, of Sallisaw died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in Denver. She had taught in Gore schools for 10 years as a special education teacher. She was a Pentecostal, a former cheerleader sponsor, a former administrator for God’s Little People Day Care in Sallisaw and active in Special Olympics. She was a 1981 graduate of Sallisaw High School and a graduate of Northeasern State University in Tahlequah, Okla.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Gore High School Gymnasium with burial at Drake Stand cemetery west of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by her husband, Roy; a son, Jarrod Nicholson of the home; her parents, Jerry and Patsy Jones of Sallisaw; a sister, Marci Conley of Sallisaw; and a brother, Delbert Jones of Sallisaw.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Sanders, Tex Ferguson, Rick Nicholson, Douglas Trammell, Rick Spears, Charlie Carter, Steve Knights and Carl Page.

SUMMERFIELD — Minnie “McGowen” Johnson, 84, of Summerfield died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Summerfield Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Summerfield Baptist Church with burial at Summerfield cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by three daughters, Shelba Ward and Sonia Duncan, both of LeFlore, and Melba Wylie of Summerfield; seven grandchildren, Sam and Donnie Ward, Tracy, Michael and Jeff Duncan, David Jack and Pam Zuniga; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

HACKETT — Gabriel Zane David Buler, infant son of Lee and Jennifer Buller of Hackett, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in a Springdale hospital.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. today in Woodlawn Memorial Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Shawn and Kimberly Ellis of Poteau and John and Bonnie Buller of Hackett.

Thomas Owen Hampton, 84, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Fort Smith. He was a retired truck driver for McCord Wholesale and the widower of Juanita Hampton.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by six nephews, Gene Cogburn of Russellville, B.J. Cogburn of Mountainburg, Bob Cogburn of Mountain Home, Tommy Cogburn of Alexandria, La., Robert Lauderdale of Fort Smith and Victor Lauderdale of Van Buren; and three nieces, Iris Smith of Fort Smith and Jacqueline Robinson and Linda Norton, both of Van Buren.

MANSFIELD — Lillian Katherine Presson, 88, of Mansfield died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a member of the Huntington Assembly of God and a retired cafe worker from the Dixie Belle and Cream Castle restaurants in Mansfield. She was the widow of Curtis Presson.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Huntington Assembly of God with burial at Huntington City cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral home of Greenwood.
She is survived by a sister, Jenny Kinard of Mansfield; and a brother, Jay Baum of Mansfield.

HARTMAN — Cloa Nadine Robertson, 72, of Hartman died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in an area hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of Coal Hill Baptist Church and the widow of Luke J. Robertson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at West Mount Zion cemetery in Hartman.
She is survived by her two stepsons, Jim Robertson of Ozark and Jerry Robertson of Cabot; a sister, Frances Evans of Hartman; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be David B. Evans, Roy Roberts, Aaron Lange, Travis Gage, Jim Robertson and Ray Self.

Evelyn Naomi Dunford
Evelyn Naomi Dunford, 92, was released from earthly bonds and graduated to glory Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Van Buren. She received the gift of life through Aaron Rufus and Nettie Kelly Spainhour on Oct. 5, 1909, in Paris.
She was preceded to glory by her lifelong soul mate, Daniel James Dunford of Russellville. She is a child of God’s Church and was a Baptist. She was retired from Camarillo State Hospital in California, where she was employed as a licensed psychiatric technician.
She has preceded two daughters, Dana Davidson of Van Buren and Dina Nordby of Mansfield; her twin sister, Ethlyn Farmer of Van Buren; five grandchildren, Daniel Hackney of Greenwood, Mary Burks and Carolynn King, both of Van Buren, and Naomi Elkins and Angela Lennen, both of Fort Smith; nine grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
A gathering of remembrance will be held at Oakland cemetery in Russellville March 3.
Arrangements are by Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
