Marjorie McKenzie
Marjorie Shepherd McKenzie, 88, of Van Buren died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 6, 1914, in Cavanaugh. She was a retired employee of the State of Arkansas, a member of Central Presbyterian Church, the International Poets Society and was president of UCT Bridge Club.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by two sons, W. Don McKenzie of Prosper, Texas, and Ronnie R. McKenzie of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Frieda Martin of Edmond, Okla.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Ralph Kramer, Bill Engles, Ed Valley, Kenneth Tipton and Ron Coker.
Lee Raines
WARNER, Okla. — Lee Roy Raines, 82, of Warner, Okla., died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in Muskogee, Okla. He graduated from Stidham High School in 1940, served in the Army during World War II as staff sergeant from Sig. C. Special Forces Agency Vint Hill Farms Station on Warrenton, Va., and earned the World War II Victory Medal.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Warner with burial at Warner Memorial cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; three daughters, Sara Jane Storck of Corpus Christi, Texas, Linda Lou Thompson of Stillwater, Okla., and Lana Anita Edgmon of Warner, Okla.; two sons, James Lee Raines of Okmulgee, Okla., and Cliff Edmond Raines of Warner, Okla.; two sisters, Lucretia Leonia Starr of Tulsa and Ima Vivian Blevins of Stockton, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
The body may be viewed 8 to 10 a.m. today at the funeral home and noon till 1:30 p.m. at Warner First Baptist Church.
Vonda Harman
Vonda Worthey Harman, 67, of Van Buren died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 17, 1935, in County Line. She was a retired restaurant manager, former member of the Eastern Star and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Vickie Marie Masterson of Van Buren; a sister, Phyllis Lemmons of Poteau; two brothers, A.C. Banning of Charleston and Jackie Banning of Scranton; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael and Terry Harrower, Gary and Justin Short, Mike Bennet and Josh Dutton.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Gene Lusher
HOT SPRINGS — Gene Lusher, 71, of Hot Springs died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in a local hospital. He was born April 6, 1931, in St. Louis. He was a retired mechanical engineer, a Marine veteran and a member of Trinity Church.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Peake cemetery in Royal under the direction of Hot Springs Funeral Home of Hot Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Sara; two daughters, Tracy Lusher and Robin Slate, both of Hot Springs; a son, Scott Lusher of Hot Springs; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Lusher, David Slate, Kevin Arnold and Brandon Edwards.
Minnie Pipkins
SPIRO — Minnie V. Pipkins, 86, of Spiro died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, in Pocola. She was a member of Murry Spur Free Will Baptist Church and the widow of Ralph Pipkins.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Murry Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Macedonia cemetery in Pocola under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Williams of Pocola; a brother, Ide Ridenour of Spiro; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
Bill Oliver
Bill Reed Oliver, 73, of Fort Smith died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Tulsa. He was a retired geological consultant for Bill R. Oliver Associates, Inc. and a member of Central Presbyterian Church, the American Association of Petroleum Geologist, the Association of Petroleum Landmen and Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Services are pending through Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel; two daughters, Cathey Oliver Harris of Tulsa and Carol Reed of Atlanta; a son, Reed Oliver of Kaufman, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Ruby Stidham
OZARK — Ruby Stidham, 82, of Ozark died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was born March 13, 1920, in Boise City, Okla. She was a homemaker, a member of United Pentecostal Church and the widow of Amos Mack Stidham.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Highland cemetery in Ozark.
She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Anderson of Alma and Anne Simpson of Wichita, Kan.; a twin sister, Ruth Miller of Boise City, Okla.; a brother, Cap Williams of Boise City, Okla.; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Ball, Donnie Anderson, J.R., Fred and Philip Simpson, Danny Lytle and Ronnie Cupstid.
Honorary pallbearers will be staff of Ozark Nursing Home.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Edward Yarbrough
Edward O’Neil Yarbrough, 73, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a member of Mission Point Baptist Church where he was a deacon, trustee and president of the Laymen’s League, a retired Army veteran and retired from Mead Container.
Funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Mission Point Baptist Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Robbie; a daughter, Phedella Moore of Kansas City, Mo.; a son, William Butler of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Henry Bell, Harold Kinnard, Gregory Moore, Tommy Robinson, Ravin Caldwell Sr. and James Christian.

Ruth Ann Parks, 38, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in her home.
Funeral will be noon Friday at Ninth Street Baptist Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Lemuel; four daughters, Roleshiea and Rotera Blocker, Chanelle Houts and Stashia Jones, all of Fort Smith; a son, Demichael Lee Blocker of Fort Smith; a stepdaughter, Megnon Parks of Fort Smith; two stepsons, David and Quinton Parks, both of Fort Smith; her mother, Betty Houts of Spiro; three sisters, Della Fox, Karen Moody and Donna Holbrook, all of Spiro.

Corine Colburn
CAULKSVILLE — Corine L. Riley Colburn, 84, of Caulksville died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Caulksville. She was born March 11, 1918, in Logan County. She was a homemaker, a member of Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the widow of Clyde “Bee” Colburn.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial at Caulksville cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Clayborn of Wichita, Kan.; a son, Jimmy Colburn of Caulksville; three sisters, Betty Lou Riley and Mary Sue Riley, both of Branch and Johnnie Mae Kohler of Paris; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Haskell Casalman, Lindell Hill, Todd, Jimmy and Joe Mack Patterson and Benny Rausch.

Lillian A. Freer
Lillian A. Freer, 79, of Las Vegas died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, in a Las Vegas hospital. She was born Jan. 31, 1923, in San Francisco. She was a resident of Las Vegas for 12 years, a professional seamstress and a devout Catholic.
Private services were held with burial at Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City, Nev., under the direction of Palm Mortuary of Las Vegas.
She is survived by her husband, Edward S. Freer of Las Vegas; a daughter, Claire A. Harshaw of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Lonnette Presley of Sallisaw, Mike Harshaw of Lavaca and Matt Harshaw of Fort Smith; and four great-grandchildren, Keaton and Madeline Harshaw, both of Lavaca, Kaylie Overbey of Sallisaw and Loren Harshaw of Palm Beach, Fla.
Richard Wayne Mabry
Richard Wayne Mabry, 60, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a veteran, a retired TV cable lineman and was a Baptist.
Memorial service will be noon Friday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Mabry of Fort Smith; a daughter, Astrid Kwon of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Arman Mabry of Chicago and Damon Mabry of Lowell; his mother and stepfather, Lorene and David Weeks of Gaffney, S.C.; two sisters, Reba Patterson and Nancy Garvin, both of Gaffney, S.C.; and one grandchild.

C.J. Matheny
C.J. Matheny of Rudy went to heaven Monday morning, Sept. 23, 2002, to be with his wife who preceded him by 16 months. C.J. had accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Every opportunity he had, you would find him golfing. He played regularly every week on Tuesdays and practiced hitting balls on Thursday. He thoroughly enjoyed the sport.
C.J. was held in high esteem by those who knew him. He was friendly and full of gratitude for those who assisted him. His grandson, David, described his grandfather as the “eternal gentleman.” He continually showed honor toward others. He regularly attended church and volunteered often as an usher. He will be missed by many friends and acquaintances, however, his family will miss him the most.
He is survived by one daughter, Carol and her husband, Terry Toomey of Tulsa; his son, Martin and his wife, Judy of Rudy; three grandsons, David Matheny of Tulsa, Brent and his wife, Tiffany of Dyer and Stephen Toomey of Tulsa; and two granddaughters, Autumn and Samantha Toomey, both of Tulsa; two great-grandchildren, Summer Matheny of Mena and Zachary Matheny of Dyer.
Funeral will be noon today at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Fort Smith followed by burial service at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Bob Martin Sr.
Bob Martin Sr., 71, of Alma went to heaven Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in his home. He was a retired operating engineer at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, an Army veteran of the Korean War and attended Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. He was an avid golfer and loved his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Dee Martin.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ with a 2:30 p.m. burial service at Floral Haven cemetery in Broken Arrow, Okla., under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, June of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judi and Gary Garrison of Tulsa and Pam and Mike Lingo of Coweta, Okla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob Martin Jr. and Shelly of Alma; a brother, Charles Ernest Martin Jr. of Figure Five Community; six grandchildren, Joshua Garrison, Mychal, Cindy and Brandon Lingo and Jake and Zach Martin.
Pallbearers will be Greg Bailey, the Rev. Mike Taylor, James Goines, Clint Ward, Delmar Lewis and Paul Fletcher.

J. Norman Crosnoe
J. Norman Crosnoe, 89, of Bedford, Texas, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in Beford, Texas, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born July 29, 1913, in Hope. He was a retired pharmacist, served in World War II where he helped establish a hospital in Panama, was a pharmacist in Texarkana and at Cooley Drug in Fort Smith and at Holt Krock Clinic and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith with the Rev. Hershal McClurkin officiating under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith and Moore Funeral Home of Arlington, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jamesetta of Bedford; a daughter, Norma Sue and husband, Jerry Cigainero of Arlington, Texas; and one granddaughter, Amy Cigainero of Arlington, Texas.
