Leona Odle Moore
Leona Odle Moore, 78, of Alma, formerly of Lonoke, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a retired line worker for Dixie Cup and a member of Kibler United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. today at Concord United Methodist Church near Lonoke with burial at Concord cemetery near Lonoke under the direction of Westbrook Funeral Home of Beebee.
She is survived by two daughters, Carlene Moore McCormick of Alma and Sherry Moore of Conway; two grandchildren, Kenda McCormick Smith of Alma and Teena McCormick Kelly of Russellville; and one great-grandchild, Shelby Kelly of Russellville.
Pallbearers will be Kenda and Kevin Smith, Teena and Pete Kelly, Kenneth McCormick and Roy Rogers.
Lucille Denney
Lucille Denney, 84, of Fort Smith died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in a Greenwood nursing home. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, a secretary for Denney Tree Service, a homemaker and owner of Ruth’s Bloom Room where she raised and sold African violets for more than 25 years.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Temple Baptist Church in Fort Smith with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law,, Linda and Mike Parks of Fort Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Pat Denney of Fort Smith; a sister, Lois Green of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren, Mark Denney of Fort Smith and Michelle Parks of Fayetteville.
Pallbearers will be Dave Engles, Mark Denney, Herman Vaughn, Ryan Sory, Travis and George Holland and Gary Green.

William P. Mann Sr.
William P. Mann Sr., age 73, of Fort Smith, formerly of Buffalo, N.Y., died Monday Sept. 30, 2002, in Fort Smith. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War and an operating engineer with Local No. 17 for over 40 years and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith. William was preceded in death by his brother, James and wife, Pat Mann and sister, Donna and husband, Red Burley.
Mass will be 10 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Dodie Kohler Mann of the home; two daughters, Janet and husband, David DiCaro of Rochester, N.Y., and Kathleen and husband, Jim Rydelek of Rochester, N.Y.; five sons, Bill and wife Donna Lynn Mann of Buffalo, N.Y., Jim and wife, Kathie Mann of Hamburg, N.Y., Kevin and wife, Daneen Mann of Fort Smith, Rick and wife, Linda Mann of Fort Smith, Larry and wife, Stephanie Mann of Roland; three sisters, Elizabeth and husband, John Yuskiw of Buffalo, N.Y., Patricia Needham of Buffalo, N.Y., Lorry and the late Daniel Lukomski of Buffalo, N.Y.; four brothers, David and wife, Maureen Mann of Buffalo, N.Y., Edward and wife, Mary Mann of Buffalo, N.Y., Mikey and wife, Theresa Mann of Buffalo, N.Y. and Patrick and wife, Marion Mann of Buffalo, N.Y.; and 21 grandchildren. William will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Michael Mann, Rick Worthington, Shannon Bradney, Rodney and Robert Riser and Bill Sugg.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn and Jason Mann and Dr. Steven Edmondson.

Pauline Barker
Pauline Barker of Fort Smith died on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at the age of 94. She was born July 18, 1908, in Van Buren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil F. Barker.
Mrs. Barker was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith, the Uplifters Sunday school class and served on the Archives Committee. She was a member of the Woman’s Board of the Methodist Nursing Home. Mrs. Barker was a member and past matron of Liberty Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and a member of P.E.O. Chapter AD.
Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Methodist Village Chapel with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith. Services under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
Mrs. Barker is survived by two daughters, Ann Barker Crow and husband, William C. Crow of Conway and Sue Barker Brown and husband, Richard L. Brown of Savannah, Tenn.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill and Bob Brown, Kent Bair, Todd Dennis, Tim Johnson and Don Ray Sangster.
The family will visit with friends from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Everett “Cotton” Hill
Everett “Cotton” Hill, 88, of Fort Smith went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 30, 2002. He was a retired security officer for General Electric and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Fort Smith. Cotton signed a professional baseball contract while he was still attending Fort Smith High School. As a professional pitcher for 18 years in the Cincinnatti Reds organization. Cotton was clocked throwing the ball at 96 miles per hour. He pitched against many popular players of his time including the great Satchel Paige in a exhibition game. He was with the Cincinnati Reds organization when they won the World Series in 1940. Cotton was World War II Navy veteran and he participated in two invasions in the South Pacific. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Cotton was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Mattie Hill.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Arnold and Linda Moody, both of Fort Smith; a son, Jimmie Hill of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, Kim, Stephanie and Jamie Hill, Rick Arnold, Kellie Maroone and Michelle Neece; and nine great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bertha Faye Fields
Bertha Faye Fields, 97, of Magazine died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Booneville. She was a member of Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church in Blue Mountain for 76 years. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church in Blue Mountain with burial at Blue Mountain cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by a daughter, Wilma Jean Labahn and husband, Charles of Russellville; two sons, James Clinton Fields and wife, Virginia of Booneville and Phillip Wayne Fields of Booneville; three grandchildren, Sharon Kaye Fields of San Diego, Janadah Michelle Labahn of Russellville and James L. Fields of Lyons, Colo.
Pallbearers will be Charles and Stanley McConnell, Bill Catlett, Billy Walker Beason, Bill Turner and Ray Forst.
Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Staton.

John Caldwell
John “Bob” Robert Caldwell, 64, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in his home. He was born Dec. 24, 1937, in Fort Smith. He was a 1955 graduate of Fort Smith High School, a member of Goddard United Methodist Church, was active in the youth group and served in the Navy for 22 years.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Goddard United Methodist Church with burial at Coop Prairie cemetery in Mansfield under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda; two daughters, Debra Leigh Green and Karen Elaine Hill, both of Fort Smith; a son, Mark Kevin Caldwell of Jacksonville, Fla.; his father, Glenn of Fort Smith; a sister, Glenda G. James of Talihina; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark Caldwell, Perry Green, Jerry Hill, Greg Ruple, Carl Smith and Gene Lyle.

Walter Kellogg
DALLAS — Walter Newton Kellogg, 79, of Dallas, formerly of Cameron, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in Tulsa. He was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Guthrie, Okla. He was an Army veteran of World War II, was in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded two Purple Hearts for injuries sustained during the battle near Liege, Belgium, was a graduate of University of Oklahoma where he received his bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and retired from Sun Oil Company after 30 years.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. today at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; a daughter, Mary Kellogg of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Ethel Lois Cornforth of Pomona, Calif. and Irma Berg of Guthrie, Okla.; and a brother, Vance Kellogg of Guthrie, Okla.
Pallbearers will be David and Ed Shaw, Randy Kellogg, Steve Berg, Bud French and F.L. Holton.

STIGLER — Leona Geneva Vest, 76, of Stigler died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in a local nursing home.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Kinta First Baptist Church with burial at Quinton cemetery in Quinton under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by a son, Frank Vest of McKinney, Texas; four sisters, Willa Dean Prewitt and Caroline Wilson, both of Kinta, Thelma Jean Goines of Del City, Okla. and Olnia Carrington of Socorro, N.M.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stony Brown, Bo Daniel, Christopher and Curtis Reiswig, Daniel Goines and Brandon Carruth.
Alice Campney
SALLISAW — Alice V. Campney, 76, of Sallisaw died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Grove. She was a member of First Christian Church and was the widow of Harold “Skip” Campney.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church with burial at Akins cemetery in Sallisaw under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Butler of Owasso, Okla. and Gayle Magill of Grove, Okla.; two sons, Ron Campney of Sallisaw and Vincent Campney of Grandbury, Texas; a sister, Ellen Murry of Muskogee, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

MENA — Mary L. Emerson, 75, of Mena died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in her home. She was born April 8, 1927, in Norman. She was a homemaker. She and her husband owned and operated Emerson Grocery in Mena and a member of Presbyterian Church in Norman. She was the widow of Samuel Houston “Sam” Emerson Sr.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
She is survived by a daughter, Beth Lynch of West Plains, Mo.; three sons, Sam Emerson Jr. of Fayetteville, Randolph and Berry Emerson, both of Mena; two sisters, Rose Bud Stafford of Benton and Fannie Matthews of Oklahoma City; a brother, Jim Doughten of Norman; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

STIGLER — Lelalia “Lea” Tabor, 69, of Stigler died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a hairdresser.

She is survived by two sons, Riji L. Dixon of Alma and Morlin E. Dixon of Van Buren; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

PANAMA — Kaitlin Myers, 1, of Panama died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, in Pryor, Okla. She was born Jan. 18, 2001, in Fort Smith.

She is survived by her father and stepmother, James and Taunya Myers of Panama; her mother, Elizabeth Strunk of Fort Smith; her grandparents, Cheryl and Kenny Moss of Panama, Rebecca Rose of Pocola and Monica Saunders of Fort Smith.
Bradley Greene
MANSFIELD — Bradley Wade Greene, 43, of Mansfield died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in a Little Rock hospital. He was a machinist for Hickory Springs Manufacturing, a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and president of Mansfield Baseball Association.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville with burial at Huntington City cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield.
He is survived by his wife, Kristi; three sons, B.J., Jessie and Chris Greene, all of the home; his mother, Mary Jane Greene of Greenwood; a sister, Nancy Barnes of Hartford; and a brother, Lynn Greene of Hawaii.
