James Lee Littleton
James Lee Littleton, 66, of Pocola died Monday, July 29, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was born March 20, 1936, to Earl and Ola Littleton. He was a member of Heritage Oaks Free Will Baptist Church and was the owner of James Littleton Motor Co.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Heritage Oaks Free Will Baptist Church in Barling with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; two daughters, Debbie McGhee of Pocola and Phyllis Wyers of Mulberry; four sons, Terry and Michael Littleton, both of Pocola, Ricky Littleton of Fort Smith and Brian Littleton of Greenwood; a stepson, Randy McGhee of Pocola; two sisters, Betty Lou Sorg of Illinois and Sylvia Cagle of Pocohontas; two brothers, Virgil Scott of Albuquerque, N.M. and Fred Scott of Chicago; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Harvey Carter, Burl Sangster, Larry Hadlock, Charles Jones, Billy Spears and Jerry Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Jeffcoat, Darryl Person, L.M. Ramage and Jim Grizzle.

Fred C. Ballman
Fred C. Ballman, 89, of Fort Smith died Monday, July 29, 2002, in his home. He was the retired chairman of the board of Baldor Electric and was an emeritus director of the Baldor board. He was instrumental in opening Baldor Electric in Fort Smith in 1956. He was a Presbyterian, an Eagle Scout, past board member of Sparks Regional Medical Center and City National Bank and was active in numerous civic clubs and organizations. Mr. Ballman was preceded in death by a daughter, Lea Allyson.
There will be a private graveside service Wednesday at Roselawn cemetery under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel of the home; two daughters, Stephanie Elkins and JoAnn Ballman, both of Fort Smith; two sons, Fred R. Ballman of Plano, Texas, and Mike Ballman of Lavaca; a sister, Marre Eckerle of Marco Island, Fla.; a brother, Grey Ballman of St. Louis; and six grandchildren.

Frances L. Bowlin
Frances L. Bowlin, 88, of Fort Smith died Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Parks. Mrs. Bowlin passed away at the home of Carolyn and Gary Davis in Parks. She was a homemaker and a loving aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Assembly of God, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Fort Smith Eagles Lodge. She was the widow of Chester Bowlin.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by a sister, Dicy Delrio of Reno, Nev.; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brian and Shane Perkins, Billy Ray Bowen, Jeremy Orick, Greg Chamblee and Steven Vanderburg.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Joseph Rudebeck
WALDRON — Joseph Wilbert Rudebeck, 62, of Waldron died Monday, July 29, 2002, in his home. He was a retired dietitian and a Lutheran.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Waldron Pentecostal Church of God with burial at Square Rock cemetery in Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by his wife, Shermaline; two daughters, Debra Rudebeck of St. Paul, Minn., and Diane Kumparak of Phoenix; two sons, Joseph Scott Rudebeck and Richard McElroy, both of Prescott, Ariz.; his mother, Ella Rudebeck of Waldron; a sister, Cindy Dickens of Waldron; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Richard McElroy, Tony Kumparak, Scott Rudebeck, Chris Thompson, Richard Nix and James Bynam.
The body may be viewed 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Helen Boyd
STIGLER — Helen M. Boyd, 77, of Stigler died Monday, July 29, 2002, in Stigler. She was a retired machinist and was of the Baptist faith.
Private family service at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by two daughters, Golda Lynn Vargas and Lana Lorraine Bird, both of California; a son, Gary Wayne Boyd of Stigler; three sisters, LaWanna Chunnings of California, Linda Cunningham of Washington and Flora Lee Ary of Oklahoma; a brother, O.V. Hoyt of Oklahoma; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Family and public viewing will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday.

Rosa Pebley
Rosa Belle Pebley, 88, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a retired clerk for the Department of Agriculture.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by three cousins, Pauline Nunemaker, Della Hadley and Lucille Hanson, all of Kansas.

Muoi Nguyen
Muoi Thi Nguyen, 51, of Fort Smith died Monday, July 29, 2002, in her home. She was born Dec. 31, 1950, in Saigon, Vietnam. She was an employee of OK Foods and a member of Buddhist Temple.
Burial will be at City cemetery in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Nguyen of Fort Smith; a son, Leon Nguyen of Fort Smith; a sister, Le Huynh of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren.

Mary Ketter
CHARLESTON — Mary Caroline Kern Ketter, 85, of Charleston died Monday, July 29, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born July 22, 1917, in Morrison Bluff. She was a homemaker, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston, the Sacred Heart Mother’s Society and Catholic Knights of America.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston.
Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Sacred Heart cemetery in Charleston.
She is survived by her husband, Art; two daughters, Joyce Jones and Carolyn Ketter, both of Fort Smith; two sons, Charles and Peter Ketter, both of Charleston; a sister, Theresa Kern of Fort Smith; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott and David Jones, Lance, Joe, Greg and Charles Ketter Jr.

Mary McElhaney
PARIS — Mary McElhaney, 50, of Paris died Monday, July 29, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a member of Paris Christian Center.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Paris Christian Center with burial at Baxley cemetery in Paris under the direction of Murry Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel; three daughters, Stephanie and Vera McElhaney, both of Paris, and Bobbi Palumbo of Chicago; five sons, Helmut Bondereau, Anthony Perez and Paul Palumbo, all of Chicago, Kenneth and Samuel McElhaney Jr., both of Paris; her mother, Betty Storts of Dyerburg, Tenn.; nine sisters, Liz, Janet, Dawn, Tenny, Tina, Linda, Tammy, Jessie and Maggie Storts, all of Chicago; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Perez, Helmut Bondereau, Daniel Storts, Charles Jackson, Ray Cameron and David Krighaun Jr.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bill Prewett
BOONEVILLE — William Thomas Prewett, 44, of Booneville died Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Booneville. He taught school for three years in Smackover and 17 years at Booneville High School where he served as high school principal for three years. He was a member of Heritage Addition Church of Christ and a former member of the Lions Club and the Booneville Water Commission. He served on the Booneville City Council as a alderman.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Robin Elaine and Danielle Prewett, both of the home; his mother, Mary Nell Prewett of Booneville; a sister, Teresa Ann Prewett of Little Rock; a brother, David Earl Prewett of Russellville; and a grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Kelly King, Rick Scott, Jim Richardson, Scottie Pierce, Larry Dean Mitchell and Steve Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will the Booneville Faculty staff.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Prewett Scholarship Fund, c/o First Western Bank of Booneville.

James Cowan Jr.
GREENWOOD — James Edward “Buddy” Cowan Jr., 43, of Greenwood died Monday, July 29, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a former employee of Butler and Cook of Fort Smith and West-Ark Material Handlers of Mulberry and a member of Greenwood First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Steep Hill cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Sara Ann Cozort of Greenwood; a son, Jeremy Cowan of Alma; his parents, Tom and Shirley Huber of Greenwood and James and Bertha Cowan of Midland; three sisters, Sheryl Bell of Greenwood, Angel Cowan and Angela Self, both of Midland; a brother, Terry Cowan of Fort Smith; a stepbrother, Douglas Huber of Tulsa; a stepgrandchild.
Pallbearers will be James Bell, Chuck Pachl, Tony Waters, Wyatt Maness, Terry Chestnut and Robert Kelsy.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Raymond A. Gruver Sr.
Raymond A. Gruver Sr., 80, of Fort Smith died Friday, June 7, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a retired plant superintendent for Fruehauf Trailer Company, a member and deacon of Fort Baptist Church and the Carl Smith Sunday school class, a member of the Gideons and was a Army veteran of World War II.
Funeral was held Monday at First Baptist Church in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Dortha E. Gruver of the home; a daughter, Joan Hammer and her husband, Gary of Fort Smith; a son, Raymond A. Gruver Jr. and his wife, Joyce of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Trey and Carrie Gruver, Matt and Mark Hammer.
Pallbearers will be Jim Peoples, Roy Myers, Rex Terry, Foster Godwin, Wayne King and Phil Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons and members of the Carl Smith Sunday school class of First Baptist Church.

Vera Jean Bradley
Vera Jean Bradley, 56, of Fort Smith died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was the owner and operator of Jeanie’s Salon. She was a homemaker and attended the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.
Memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated.
She is survived by three daughters, Rachel and husband, Chuck Dalton of Fort Smith, Arla Jean Mackie of Mesquite, Texas, and Sherri Annette Custard and husband, Richard of Eustace, Texas; a son, Curtis Wayne Chubbuck and wife, Kelly of Aiken, S.C.; two sisters, Ethel Mae Brekeen of Dallas and Glenda Louise Foreman of Lewisville, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.

Carolyn “Ted” Dodson Kuhn
Carolyn “Ted” Dodson Kuhn passed away May 30, 2002 in Dallas. She was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church.
Her burial will be at Roselawn cemetery.
She is survived by two sisters, Omah Sellars of Dallas and Christa McDole of Fort Smith; two nieces, Jayne Hawkins of Dallas and Mary Gene McConnell of Fort Smith and eight nephews, James Sellers of Hartford, Conn., Herbert McDole of Tulsa, B.G. Hendrix of Fort Smith, Pink Hendrix, Jerry Hendrix and Don Dodson, all of Greenwood, Jim Bob Dodson of Harrison and Dodson Hendrix of Fort Smith.

Eileen Griffith
Eileen Griffith, 81, of Fort Smith died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a retired secretary for the Fort Smith Public School System serving Beard, Cavanaugh, Cornell and Kimmons Junior High. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she sang in the choir, volunteered and visited shut-ins. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolutionary War and during her employment with school system was honored with the Golden Apple Award, usually given to teachers only. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Griffith and a brother, George L. Morgan.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church of Fort Smith with burial at Srygley cemetery in Coal Hill under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie E. Thomas and husband, Steve of Fort Smith; a son, Jack M. Griffith and wife, Sherry of Lamar; three brothers, Earl Morgan of Punta Gorda, Fla., Carl Morgan of Lamar and Harold Morgan of St. Charles, Mo.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
