STIGLER — Bertha “Pete” Hammock, 81, of Stigler died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in Broken Arrow, Okla. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday in Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Coleman cemetery in Porum.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Cordle of Broken Arrow, Okla., Doris Russell of Tulsa and Karen Monks of Stigler; three sons, Archie Hammock of Chouteau, Okla., Joe Hammock of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Rick Hammock of Muskogee, Okla.; two sisters, Rachel Macon of Washington and Rhodie Parker of Stigler; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Reba McKown
RUDY — Reba Dell McKown, 76, of Rudy died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of DAV Women’s Auxiliary, a volunteer worker at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville and a Baptist. She was the widow of Bert Ross McKown.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeannie Gentry of Van Buren and Teresa Burnett of Figure Five community; two sons, Kenneth McKown of Figure Five community and Bert A. McKown of Bond Special community; a sister, Mildred Goins of Spiro; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Donna Simmons
Donna Kaye Gore Simmons, 46, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 8, 1955, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Memorial service will be noon Friday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Robin Simmons of Fort Smith; a son, Robert Simmons Jr. of Fort Smith; a sister, Lynn Mabrey of Lawton, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Vanessa and Alex Malone.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shootin Stars Wheelchair Sports Association, 1122 N. 12th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

O.D. Meadors
MOUNTAINBURG — O.D. Meadors, 80, of Mountainburg died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in a local hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II in the 16th Armored Division, a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church in Mountainburg.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with burial at Vaught cemetery in Mountainburg.
He is survived by his wife, Depp; a son, John S. Meadors of Mountainburg; a sister, Anita Osburn of Mountainburg; two grandchildren, Donny and Danny Meadors, both of Mountainburg; several nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randall Reed, John, Eugene and Ray Meadors, Dale McDaniel and Doyle Osburn.

Harold Loyd
Harold Loyd, 67, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in his home. He was an Army veteran, former deputy circuit clerk, county clerk and Crawford County judge. He was a member of Van Buren Masonic Lodge No. 6, County Judge’s Association, County Clerk’s Association, Cattlemen’s Association, Crawford County Fair Association, Crawford County Junior Livestock, Lion’s Club, WAEDA, Area Agency on Aging and Comprehensive Juvenile Services and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Van Buren First Assembly of God with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Loyd of the home; a daughter, Debra and husband, Bill Bridges of Fort Smith; a son, Randy and wife, Becky Loyd of Van Buren; a stepson, Kevin Moore of Alma; and four grandchildren, Heather and Chris Bridges, Desirae and Brooklyn Loyd.
Pallbearers will be Judge Gary Cottrell, Bill Farrar, Gerald Medlock, Bruce Neidecker, Johnny Parker, Bill Thomas, Judge Joe Powell and Larry McClure.
Honorary pallbearers will be Patti Hill, Sammie Page, Dianna Gentry, Tina McAlister, Donnie Easter, Dorvan Wiley, Col. Weldon Ramey, Johnny Ragsdale, Jim Medley, Milton Brownlee, Judge Pete Rogers, Wylie Brewer, Bill Edwards, Dean Metheny, Herman Pulse, Herman Kimes, Jim Saragent Jr., Russell Montag and David Burkhart.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert Joseph Rowden
Robert Joseph Rowden, 71, of Alma died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in his home. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a retired employee of Schucks Construction and was a Protestant.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with burial and military honors at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rowden of the home; four daughters, Carolyn Rowden and Vicki Yaeger, both of Phoenix, Nancy and Deven Rowden, both of Alma; five sons, Ronny and Bobby Rowden Jr., Vince, Vance and Vaughn Smith, all of Alma; his mother, Velda Marie Rowden of Alma; three sisters, Mary White and Alma Billington, both of Arizona, and Jean Herzog of Danville; three brothers, Tom Rowden of Arizona, Don and Rich Rowden, both of Alma; and 10 grandchildren, Josh, Michael, Carlos, Ryan, Carneilus, Colby, Emily, Daci, Cardell and Jessica.
Pallbearers will be Bobby, Ronny and Rich Rowden, Vince and Vaughn Smith and Victor Herzog.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joe L. Berry Sr.
Joe L. Berry Sr., 83, of Fort Smith died Friday, May 31, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was retired from plant operations for St. Edward Mercy Medical Center and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a veteran of World War II where he received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and Combat Badge-military Merit and a member of the American Legion and DAV.
Funeral was Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Doris Berry of Fort Smith; three sons, Joe Berry Jr. of Van Buren, Billy Gene Berry of Hackett and Daniel Keith Berry of Fort Smith; four sisters, Lois Snow, Smithie Lee and Donna Sue, all of Fort Smith, and Evelyn Altes of Van Buren; a brother, Homer Berry of Van Buren; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 6000 S. Zero St., Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Orvil Andrew “Dock” Fletcher
Orvil Andrew “Dock” Fletcher, 92, of Muldrow died Friday, May 31, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was born June 18, 1909, in Paw Paw. He was retired from Coca Cola Bottling Company of Fort Smith, a member of the First Baptist Church of Muldrow for more than 60 years, a member of the Matthew Sunday school class of the First Baptist Church and an usher for the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Monroe Fletcher and Martila Elizabeth Martin Fletcher, a son, Carl Fletcher, a son-in-law, Ott Lee Rogers and a sister, Ida Arizona Fisk.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Muldrow with burial at Memory Gardens cemetery of Muldrow under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow.
He is survived by his wife, Madeline “Mack” Fletcher of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie Rogers, Connie and Jack Daily and Jamicia and Charles Cowan, all of Muldrow; a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Christine Fletcher of Roland; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Mark and Hughes Fletcher, Madison Daily, Preston and Jason Cowan, Scott Winstead, Bill Jetton, John Civis, Stan Flenor, Don Miner, Jerry Crawford and Jim Turner.
Viewing will be 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lou Soap, Shirley Kinard and Audrey Martin.

Sam H. Phillips
Sam H. Phillips, 86, of Fort Smith died Saturday, June 1, 2002, in Fort Smith. He served as the senior warden of both St. John’s and St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church of which he was a founding member. Mr. Phillips was a member of the board of trustees for Sparks Regional Medical Center for more than 17 years. He was past director of Westark Community College, First Federal Savings and Loan, Fort Smith Board of Realtors Association, Independent Insurers Association of Fort Smith and the Fort Smith Chamber of Commerce. He was past president of the Fort Smith Community Chest (United Way). He also served as the president of both Hardscrabble Country Club and The Town Club.
Mr. Phillips attended the United States Naval Academy and graduated from the University of Florida. He served in the military as an RAF (Royal Air Force) fighter pilot instructor in World War II and honorably discharged from the Navy. He was actively involved in the insurance and real estate business in Fort Smith for more than 45 years.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at Saint Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mitylene “Mittie” Bowron Phillips; three daughters, Caroline Kent of Searcy, Edith Stuart Phillips of Austin, Texas, and Mitylene Mahar of Nacogdoches, Texas; a son, Sam H. Phillips Jr. of Fort Smith; eight grandchildren, S. Bowron Phillips, Anna Louise Phillips, Stuart M. Cooper, W. Michael Cooper, Hope Kent Langley, Summer Kent Grady, Ryan L. Mahar and Alex C. Mahar.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, Sparks Regional Medical Center, Westark Foundation or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Charline Landry
Charline Landry, 52, born Sept. 27, 1949, passed away in St. Edward on Saturday, June 1, 2002, after a long battle with cancer. The Lord took her from her garden so she could look after his. A great lover of flowers and gardens, she was loved by everyone and will be missed by all. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Randy; two daughters, Natalie Wallace of Fort Smith and Amanda Wallace of Yukon, Okla.; a grandson, Elijah Clay Wallace, a brother, Chad Morgan of Fort Smith; several aunts, uncles and cousins and a wonderful in-law-family in her favorite place of New Orleans.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with interment at Oak cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Rhodes, Little Don Doyle, Terry Rollins, Bruce McQueen, Bobby Person and Ricky Luke.
If all the Lord’s creations love a thousand lives, none of them will be loved and missed as much as our little girl.

Robert Young Sr.
Robert Eugene Young Sr., 75, of Fort Smith died Saturday, June 1, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a bus operator for Jefferson Bus Lines and a member of American Legion Post No. 31.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Laveda; three sons, Robert E. Young Jr. of Tulsa, Stephen Dee Young Sr. of Van Buren and Darrell C. Fisher of Tulsa; two sisters, Mary Ann Tyler of Cedarville and Dorothy Thomas of Dallas; two brothers, James R. Young of Fort Smith and W.R. Young of Arizona and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jack and Bobby Stone, Kenneth Young, Don LeRoy, Norman Korn, David Terry, Joe Bob King and Robert Nunnery.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion.

Katie Carling
Katie E. Carling, 99, of Van Buren died Sunday, June 2, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Alma First Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday with a private burial to follow under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Kathryn Ransom of Fort Smith.

Harmon Burkhart
Harmon “Docky” Burkhart, 64, of Van Buren died Sunday, June 2, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was a retired auto paint and body technician, attended Rudy Pentecostal Church and a native of Rudy.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount McCurry Arbor in Rudy under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by a daughter, Melinda Shelly of Greenwood; two sisters, Sarah Kelly of Van Buren and Mildred Gann of Panama; three brothers, Virgil Roy Burkhart of San Marcos, Texas, Buddy Burkhart of Van Buren and Dennis Burkhart of Montrose, Colo.; and one grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Stephen Clem
COALGATE, Okla. — Stephen Paul Clem, 37, of Coalgate, Okla., died Friday, May 31, 2002, in his home. He was born Aug. 31, 1964, in West Covina, Calif. He attended elementary school in Dallas and graduated from Hartford High School, attended the University of Arkansas and was a walk-on redshirt basketball player. He was a dispatcher and salesman for a construction equipment rental in McAlester, Okla., and a member of Lone Star Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Funeral was held Monday at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Atoka, Okla., with burial at Lone Star cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Kylye Clem of Longview, Texas; a son, Coltyn Clem of Longview, Texas; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Martinez and Brooke Schuhuacher, both of Dallas; two stepsons, T.J. Martinez and Clinton Schuhmacher, both of Dallas; his parents, Paul and Rose Ann Clem of Hackett; a sister, Lynda Cox of Dallas; two brothers, Ricky Clem of Coalgate, Okla. and Mark Clem of Little Rock; his grandparents, Charlie E. and Juanita Clem of Midland.
Pallbearers will be Vince and Mel Ott, Joe Salinas, Nathan, Bryan and Jarrod Clem.

Nancy Davis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Nancy W. Davis, 67, of Memphis, Tenn., died Friday, May 31, 2002, in Fort Myers, Fla.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Red Fish Pass in Captiva, Fla., under the direction of American Family Funeral Home of Fort Myers, Fla.
She is survived by two sons, Michael and Phillip Davis, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Isaac Witt of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Katie and Sarah Davis, both of Tampa, Fla., and several nieces.
