POTEAU — Cleo Nolan, 94, of Poteau died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, in Poteau. She was a homemaker and a sales clerk. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Poteau. She was the widow of Lincoln Nolan.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church in Poteau with burial at Summerfield cemetery in Summerfield under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Nancy Vuong of Fort Smith, Linda Quinton of Bradenton, Fla., and David Carmack of Poteau; and six great-grandchildren, Steven and Quyen Vuong, both of Fort Smith, Lincoln Quinton and Bridgitte Brady, both of Florida, and Lisa and Matthew Carmack, both of Poteau.
Willie Garmon
BENTONVILLE — Willie Viola Otha Lee Lewis Garmon of Bentonville, formerly of Mena, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in Rogers. She and her husband were owners of Garmon Jewelry Company in Mena. She was owner of Clocks Etc. in Mena and was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, First Baptist Church in Mena and The Christian Center in Bentonville. She was the widow of Roy Spencer Garmon.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Mena under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann McKeehan of Bentonville; a sister, Kathleen Garmon of Fort Smith; a half-sister, Mae Hill of Claredon, Texas; two half-brothers, John William Mays of Amarillo, Texas, and George Lee Mays of Oklahoma; and a grandson, Spencer McKeehan of Bentonville.
Elizabeth Kern
Elizabeth Marie Kern, 83, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fort Smith and the widow of Edward F. Kern.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Roller Funeral Home in Paris and 7 p.m. Sunday in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fort Smith. Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with burial at St. Peter and Paul cemetery in Morrison Bluff.
She is survived by two daughters, Rosetta Lensing and Linda Hall, both of Fort Smith; three sons, Edward and Randy, both of Fort Smith, and Larry of Morrison Bluff; one sister, Tillie Griggs of Pryor, Okla.; three brothers, Andrew and Charles Newman, both of Morrison Bluff, and Gus Newman of Las Vegas; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Delois Minor
Delois Ella Roberson Minor, 73, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a retired director of nursing for Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Grand Avenue Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Brushy cemetery in Oden.
She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Oden of Camden and Judy Akins of Fort Smith; her mother, Viola Singleton Roberson of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, Greg and Lance Oden, Angela Gilbert, Nicholas, Michael and Jonathan Akins; and one great-grandchild.

MENA — Gorden Wiley Willhite, 84, of Mena died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in Mena. He was a Baptist.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Bealsey-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Pine Ridge cemetery.
He is survived by three sisters, Alena Turpin of Yuma, Ariz., Jessie Holden of Simms, Texas, and Mary T. Marshall of Mena; one brother, John of New Boston, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Thomas and Charles Marshall, Clay Sickles, David and Steven Bailey and Tracy Standerfer.

SALINA, Okla. — Perry Gene Shamblin, 53, of Salina died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, in Tulsa. He was a truck driver for Eaglewings Systems in Fort Smith and was a member of the National Rifle Association, the North American Hunting and Fishing Club and Valley Heights Free Will Baptist Church in Salina.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today in Valley Heights Free Will Baptist Church in Salina with burial at Ross-Mayers cemetery in Salina under the direction of Garner’s Jim Green Funeral Home of Pryor.
He is survived by his wife, Becky; two daughters, Sarah Boner of Teays Valley, W.Va., and Julie Shamblin of Salina; one son, Jody of Moore, Okla.; five sisters, Ruby Jamison and Clarice Parsons, both of Hubbard, Ohio, Sylvia Isaacs, of Stilwell, Okla., Shirley King of Ovapa, W.Va., and Jessie Thompson of Procious, W.Va.; four brothers, Junior of Procious, W.Va., Okey of Dry Ridge, Ky., Rosco of Girard, Ohio, and Delmar of Columbus, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

HEAVENER — Hugh Gene Altstatt, 70, of Heavener died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in his home. He was a 1949 graduate of Heavener High School. He worked for Burnett Lumber Company, was employed by LeFlore County District No. 3 Highway Department and was a member of Heavener Christian Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Heavener Christian Church with burial at Memorial Park in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by three daughters, Ladonna Jean Mullins of Rowlett, Texas, Debra Kay McClain of Heavener and Tammie Sue White of Royce City, Texas; one son, Hugh Gene Altstatt Jr. of Heavener; one sister, Peggy Johnson of Heavener; one brother, George of Heavener; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and five great-grandchildren.

LEQUIRE, Okla. — Richard P. “Tiny” Coleman, 62, of Lequire died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, in his home. He served four years with the Marines and was a bricklayer.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday in King and Shearwood Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Stigler. Mass will be 2 p.m. Monday in R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel with burial at San Bois cemetery in Kinta, Okla.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; one stepson, Bert White of Swisher, Iowa; one brother, Bernard Coleman of Caggon, Iowa; and two grandchildren, Sadie and Jack White of Swisher.

BOLES — Richard Lavern Weatherly, 68, of Boles died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in Waldron. He was a farmer for Tyson Foods, a retired truck driver and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 4:30 p.m. today in Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; three daughters, Linda Baker of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Deidre Ridenhour and Margaret Glenn, both of Boles; two sons, Richard of Boles and Jack Williams of Waldron; one brother, Johnny Don of Quinlan, Texas; and 15 grandchildren, Tracy, Michael and Joseph Williams, Misti and Craig Vaughn, Sissy Cox, Crystal Henry, Douglas Mays, Cassie Baker, Wade and Mitch Ridenhour, LeAnn Morgan, Jack Williams Jr., Lisa Bailey and Beth Rhoads.

YALE — Christopher Brent Karr, 30, of Yale died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, in Yale. He was a graduate of Oark High School and a member of the Yale Church.

He is survived by his parents, Doyle Allen and Norma Carl Dotson Karr of Yale; grandparents, Jewell Dotson of Springdale and Effie Karr Clark of Clarksville; and one brother, Charles Allen Karr of Yale.

PANAMA — Allin “Buck” Copeland, 59, of Panama died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in Panama. He was a carpenter and a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Panama.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Shady Point cemetery in Shady Point.
He is survived by his wife, Millie; one daughter, Tanya Remy of Howe, Okla.; five stepdaughters, Connie Blaylock and Priscilla Watts, both of Shady Point, Dale Darneal and Sandra Hale, both of Panama and Debra Shackleford of Cameron; one son, Larry of Van Buren; three stepsons, David Hankins of Poteau, George Hankins of Panama and Shawn Hankins of Salem, Ore.; three sisters, Lillian Nelson of Campbell, Calif., Eastel James and Ellen Cherry, both of Panama; 30 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Robert Miles Garner, 76, of Van Buren died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a native of Van Buren, an elder emeritus and member of the Van Buren First Presbyterian Church, and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a senior master sergeant, where he was a veteran of World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the Arkansas Geological Commission, a member of the Crawford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and member of the Crawford County Democratic Party Association, member of the United States Golf Association and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was retired from the U.S.D.A. Inspection Service.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial with full military honors at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Garner of the home; two daughters, Pat DeLozier of Van Buren and Carol Sines of Alma; two sisters, Margaret Garner of Sendai, Japan, and Nell Franklin of Brooksville, Fla.; one brother, John Garner of Van Buren; five grandchildren, Michael and Jeremy Vernon, Lisa Guthrie, Mindy DeLozier and Nicole Doyle; three great-grandchildren, Justin and Jerry Mac Vernon and Mikayla Doyle.

Fredia L. Davis, 58, of Mulberry died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Jethro Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Murphy and a granddaughter, Tori Harris.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Rankin cemetery, north of Ozark.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Davis of Mulberry; three daughters, Janet Murphy and Brenda Harris, both of Mulberry, and Brittney Davis of the home; two sons, Harold and Carroll Davis, both of Mulberry; her mother, Oma Murphy of Mulberry; two brothers, Herman and Charles Murphy, both of Mulberry; four grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Breanna Styers, Dalton Murphy and JaRon Harris II.

Eugene Frederick
MENA — Eugene Dale Frederick, 76, of Mena died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 3, 1924 in Mena. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Air Corps division as a radio machine gunner and flying 30 missions over Germany. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Arkansas. He worked in accounting at Tempco in Dallas, Chuck E. Cheese in San Jose, Calif., Lane Poultry in Grannis, taught school in Paris, Long Beach, Calif., and Mena High School and was principal and sixth-grade teacher at Stillwell School in Mena. He was principal and teacher in Milpitas, Calif., and a Realtor in San Jose, Calif. He was an elder at the First Christian Church and was a member of Gideons International and had a local Gospel Tract Ministry.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Hall Funeral Service Memorial Chapel in Mena with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; one daughter, Leslie Ward of Smithville, Okla.; two sons, Scott of Bakersfield, Calif., and Mark of Mena; four grandchildren, James Frederick, and Jennie, Joshua and Joseph Ward; and two great-grandchildren.

Ora Watson
WATSON, Okla. — Ora Marie Watson, 86, of Watson, Okla., died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in Talihina. She was born Nov. 15, 1914, in Smithville, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church and was in the women’s auxiliary at the church. She was the widow of Simeon Watson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Watson with burial at Buffalo cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.
She is survived by four daughters, Orene Sevier of Lawrence, Kan., Juanita Bad Bear of Crow Agency, Mont., Maxine Harper of Grants Pass, Ore., and Margie Watson of Smithville, Okla.; one son, Nathan Watson of Watson; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Donald, Chris, and Jonathan Watson, Wayne and Stanley Hudson and Eugene Ludlow. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Rev. Luther Wilkins
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. — The Rev. Luther Don Wilkins, 60, of Baxter Springs, Kan., formerly of Fort Smith died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in Joplin, Mo. He was a member of Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church, where he entered the ministry in 1970, and recently was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Joplin, Mo. He was present pastor at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Baxter Springs, Kan., and former pastor of First Missionary Baptist at Pine Bluff, First Missionary Baptist in Muskogee, Okla., Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Roland, and Morning Star Missionary Baptist in Huntington. He was active in several civic and religious organizations.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church with burial of cremains at a later date at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary in Fort Smith.
He is survived by one daughter, Fregina Jones of Fort Smith; three sons, Fred of San Diego, Calif., George of California and Luther Jerome of Fort Smith; his stepmother, Ethel Wilkins of Fort Smith; and 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the Revs. Ronald Forte, Alan Smith, Ernest Lambert, Eugene Kimble, M.L. Brown, James Jones, G.L. Hinkle and A. Louis Eaton.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Fort Smith and Van Buren.
