Earl Hicks Jr.
Earl Ray “Papa” Hicks, Jr., 76, of Morrilton, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007.
He was born Nov. 10, 1930, in Amarillo, Texas, a son of Earl R. Hicks and Flora Sue (Hobbs) Hicks. He was a retired electrical engineer, widower of Shirley Ruth Hicks and member of New Life Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Anthony Hicks and wife Lori of Plano, Texas; daughters, Lisa Sullivan of Winchester, Tenn., and Tina Gullett of Overcup; brother, Stanley Hicks and wife Marie; sisters, Mary Ann Smith and husband Alec and Nancy Cannon and husband Kelly; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Big Creek Cemetery, Malvern, Ark., by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Eric Taylor, Brock Gullett, David Byers, J.D. Sullivan, Michael Philpot, and Jarold Tutt.
Geneva Doster
Geneva Doster, 82, of Bigelow died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007.
She was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Houston, Ark., a daughter of Rush Hatfield and Geneva (Wilmoth) Hatfield. She was a nurse and the widow of Charlie T. Doster and of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include one sister, Viva Moore of Enola; and a brother, Harry Hatfield of Bigelow.
Graveside service was 3 p.m. Saturday at Vollman Cemetery
with Bro. Mike Jones officiating. Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
David Bingham
David “Bear” Bingham, 62, of Oppelo, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, after his seven and a half year battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 30, 1945, in Oppelo, Ark., a son of the late James Elmer and Agnes (White) Bingham. He served in the Army in Vietnam from September 1965 until April 1967. He was a helicopter crew chief. When he returned from the service he worked as a bricklayer with his father and brothers (Bingham Bricklayers) for most of his life. The last five years before he became ill he worked at AmTran in Conway, Ark..
He was a man of many talents. He mainly enjoyed woodworking that his father passed on to him. David was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Elmer Bingham; and his mother, Agnes Bingham; a sister, Norma Bingham; and his brother, Sherman Bingham.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Oaks) Bingham; two sons, Tim Bingham and wife Rita Bingham of St. Vincent and Jeremy Bingham and wife Julie Scroggins-Bingham of Oppelo; and three grandchildren that were the love of his life, Haley Marie Bingham, Lindsay Nicole Bingham, and Matthew David Bingham of St. Vincent.
David is also survived by his sisters, Deanna Hummel of Arnold, Mo., Barbara Duke of Cabot, Judy Jones of Plumerville, and Nancy Sensabaugh of Dallas, Texas; brothers, James Bingham of Morrilton, Charles Bingham of Oppelo, and Gary Bingham of Oppelo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His Oaks family survivors include his brother-in-law, Tom Oaks of Bigelow, Fred and Linda Oaks of Quitman, Mike and Mary Oaks of Little Rock, Larry and Karen Oaks of Wooster, and sister-in-law, Janet Oaks of Mayflower; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Fred Oaks and Bro. Jim Mullins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cottonwood Place Pathfinder Inc. of Morrilton.
Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
John Coffman
John Russell Coffman, 38, of Morrilton, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007.
He was born Dec. 25, 1968, in Morrilton. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morrilton and an honorary member of the Morrilton Fire Department.
Survivors include his mother, Pam Coffman of Morrilton; father and stepmother, Ray and Loretta Coffman of Morrilton; one brother, Mark Coffman of Atkins; and one sister, Allison Birch of Morrilton.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church Morrilton with Dr. Bill Brown and Rick Coan officiating. Burial was at Springfield Cemetery
by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Aaron Walker, Phillip Walker, Danny Coffman, Vic Kordsmeier, Phil Eddy, and Joey Rivers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Morrilton Fire Department.

Catherine Murdoch
Catherine Elizabeth (Francis) Murdoch, 93, of Morrilton, Ark., passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2007.
She was born March 17, 1914, in Morrilton, Ark., a daughter of Edward Newton Francis and Minnie (Cartwright) Francis. She was the widow of Elmer A. Murdoch,worked as a shipping clerk for 35 years at Arkansas Crompton Mills, and a faithful member of the Downtown Church of Christ for 75 years. She was also a member of Ladies Bible Class and volunteered for the old Riverview Nursing Home.
Survivors include one daughter, Paula Ann Ward and son-in-law Alvie Ward of Morrilton; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Edward Murdoch.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Elmwood Cemetery
with Mr. Randy Rankin officiating. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Willa Whiley
Willa V (Hooper) Whiley, 76, of Hot Springs, died Monday, July 9, 2007.
She was born June 14, 1931, at Hollis, to Elder George M. and Gay (Hawks) Hooper. She was a member of Cedar Mountain Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Phillip Whiley, Keith Whiley, Kenneth Whiley, and David Whiley, all of Hot Springs; three daughters, Phyllis Crain of Hollis, Betty Ault of Hot Springs, and Mary Culpepper of Hot Springs; one brother, J.D. Hooper of Hot Springs; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was at Caruth Village Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Thursday with Bro. Jimmy Dale Johnson officiating. Burial was at Goat Bluff Cemetery
in Hollis by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home of Hot Springs.
Pallbearers were Chad Crain, Jeremy Whiley, Adam Ault, Justin Whiley, Brad Whiley, and Jeff Hooper. Honorary pallbearers were members of Cedar Mountain Missionary Baptist Church.
Luther Wilson
Luther H. Wilson, 81, of Conway, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007.
He was born in the Lollie Bottoms community to Oscar Hill and Mamie (Bunting) Hill. He retired from Safeway Stores as a truck driver for 50 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and member of the Harrison and Willow Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Irma Wilson; one son, Jerome Kelly of Olathe, Kan.; one sister, Lucille Johnson of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday at the Harrison and Willow Street Church of Christ. Interment was at Robinson Cemetery

‘Bonnie’ Wofford
Bonita “Bonnie” Wofford, 81, of Harris Brake Lake died Saturday, July 14, 2007.
She was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Natoma, Kan., a daughter of Clifford Taft and Helen (Thelman) Taft. She was the widow of John Vurl Wofford and an Arkansas state retiree. She was former editor of The Perry County News and a correspondent for the Perry County Petit Jean Country Headlight. Mrs. Wofford was a member of the Perryville United Methodist Church, Perryville Chapter No. 452 Order of the Eastern Star and Perry Chapter No. 598 Order of the Eastern Star, the Harris Brake Lake Association, and a charter member of the Golden Age Club.
Survivors include one nephew, Alan Taft of Reeds Spring, Mo.; two aunts; and six cousins.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the United Methodist Church of Perryville with the Rev. Benny Harmon and the Rev. David Baker officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery
by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Waymond Freyaldenhoven
Waymond Freyaldenhoven, of Little Rock, passed away, Wednesday, June 28, 2007.
He was born May 21, 1915, on the family farm near Morrilton, Ark. He and his wife, Virgie, of 62 years moved to Greensboro, N.C., in 2001 to be near their son, Stephen, daughter-in-law, Virginia, and granddaughters, Hannah, Sarah Schuyler and Ava. Mr. Freyaldenhoven graduated with a master’s degree in agronomy from Oklahoma State University and retired as a district agent from the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service in 1980.
He was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors, teaching his children to appreciate nature and the beauty of plants. He was a member of Our Lady of Holy Souls Church while living in Little Rock.
Survivors include his sons, John Freyaldenhoven of New York City, N.Y.; Michael Freyaldenhoven of Fayetteville; and Stephen Freyaldenhoven of Greensboro, N.C.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Lee (Moore) Freyaldenhoven, one son, Jem Freyaldenhoven, and daughter Carolyn Messler.
Funeral Mass was 10 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Charles Thessing officiating. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery

Essie Zjawinski
Essie Lea Ayers Zjawinski, 88, of Conway died Friday, June 29, 2007.
She was born Feb. 16, 1919, in Scotland, Ark., a daughter of Thomas Cleveland Ayers and Omie (Barnes) Ayers. She was an aide with the Conway Human Development Center and widow of Edward Zjawinski.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue Baker of Greenbrier; brother, James Ayers of Clinton; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
James F. Williams
Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. James Forest Williams, 91, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at his home in Merritt Island, Fla.
He was born April 8, 1915, to Roxanne Ann Williams and Joe Williams in Hattieville. He was the widower of Madeline “Penny” Williams.
A career officer in the Army Air Corps, Williams enlisted in the Army Air Corps on Dec. 20, 1939. He was awarded a pilot rating and commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army Air Corps on Aug. 5, 1942.
During World War II he served in the Southwest Pacific Theater of operations as a pilot with the 38th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron flying P-38 Lightnings. He also served in the overseas areas of northwest Africa and in Turkey. Lt. Col. Williams was a member of the Daedalians and CFW Post 10148.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Corry; three sons, James F. Williams Jr., Thomas Williams and Samuel Williams; and two granddaughters.
Funeral services were Friday, March 16, at Wylie-Baxley Merritt Island Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service with full 
military honors at Florida National Cemetery.

Peggy Whitelaw
Peggy Jean Darmouth Whitelaw, 61, of Fenton, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006.
She was born Aug. 16, 1944, in St. Louis, Mo., a daughter of Eugene Edward Damouth and Elsie Fern (Moore) Darmouth. She was a district manager for Denny’s Restaurant and a member of the Fenton Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, George Whitelaw; mother, Elsie (Moore) Damouth of Fenton, Mo.; one brother, Bobby Dale Damouth of Washington, N.C.; one sister, Barbara (Fulkerson) Robertson of Center Ridge; two stepsons, Roger Whitelaw of Cedar Hill, Mo., and Mark Whitelaw of Robertsville, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Robin Ann Whitelaw of Jackson, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grandview Church of Christ with Mr. Brian Bryant officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery
near Center Ridge by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Rev. Woodrow Woods
The Rev. Shelby Woodrow Woods, 93, of Conway died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006.
He was born Dec. 26, 1912, at Byron, a son of Dr. Owen Shelby and Cornelia (Foust) Woods. He attended Arkansas College and Perkins School of Theology. He was a United Methodist minister for 67 years in the North Arkansas Conference serving charges at Altus, Moorefield, Weldon, Kibler, Alpena, Elm Springs, Decatur, Plainview, Marshall, Huntsville, Quitman, Shiloh-Paragould, Lincoln, Green Forest, Asbury-Batesville, Oppelo, and Houston, retiring in 1979 in Conway. Following retirement, he served Oakland and Centerville and taught the Pathfinders Sunday School class at Wesley United Methodist Church in Conway.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lora (Teeter) Woods; three children, Katala Sisco of Clinton, Don Woods of Mau-melle, and Sandra Woods of Conway; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Dr. Joel Cooper and the Rev. Clayton Bulice officiating. Burial was at Crestlawn Memorial Park by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
