Roy Lee Poe
Roy Lee Poe, 71, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005.

He was born in Mobeeite, Texas, on Jan. 12, 1934, a son of George Thomas Poe and Alma Jewell (Sullivan) Poe. He was of the Baptist faith and a self employed mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Margery Poe; one son, Randy Poe of Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Michelle Poe of Sacramento, Calif. Delinda Bate of Sacrament, Calif.; one brother, Charles Poe of California; two sisters, Betty Abraugh of Tulare, Calif., and Sibilene Coon of Cottonwood, Ariz.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Care and service were provided by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Laura Pritchett
Laura E.A. Pritchett, 45, of Little Rock died unexpectedly Sunday, July 31, 2005, at home.

After graduating from Hall High School in 1978, Ms. Prit-chett studied drama and dance at Step-hens College in Columbia, M. She received a bachelor of arts in Gerontology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

She was an accomplished actor, most recently acting in several productions at the Weekend Theatre in Little Rock, including the musical “Nine,” in which she played the role of Seraghina, and the play, “Six Degrees of Separation,” in which she played the leading role of Ouisa.

She studied pottery at the Arkansas Art Center. She became an apprentice in the pottery studio. Her specialty was Raku pottery which was carried by several Little Rock galleries.

Survivors include her mother, Polly Pritchett of Little Rock; two brothers, Frank Pritchett of Little Rock and Jack Pritchett of Bryant; and one sister, Joy Pritchett of Cheverly, Md.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday at Harris Funeral Home. Burial was at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Pulaski County.

Wendy Romine
Wendy Jill Hose Romine, 38, of Russellville died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005.
She was born July 14, 1967, in Dardanelle.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Mary Ann Judkins Standridge and Herman Standridge of Centerville; father, Richard H. Hose of Celina, Texas; one son, Tyler Shaw; one daughter, Monica Hose of Russellville; fiancee, Robert Scroggin of Morrilton; two sisters, Rebecca Reynolds of Plainview and Cindy Mans of Dardanelle; stepbrother, Martin E. Standridge of Dardanelle; stepsister, Patricia Kook of Delaware.
Funeral was Tuesday at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with the Rev. Bobby Wells and the Rev. Bobby Judkins officiating. Interment was in Rest Haven Cemetery with arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers included Martin E. Standridge, Dax Lunningham, Rhett Lunningham, Brian and Brad Judkins, and Mark Sutterfield.

Harvey Samuels
Harvey Samuels, 73, of Adona, passed away Monday, August 8, 2005.

He was born February 5, 1932, in Humphrey, Arkansas, a son of Moses Samuels and Ethel Allen Samuels. He was the widower of Wanda Mae Nelson Samuels, a retired owner of an auto repair shop, and of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Samuels of Greers Ferry and David Samuels of Adona; daughter, Diane Taylor of Norco, California; sister, Jo Ann Watkins of Stuttgart; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Louise Duncan.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 11, at the Harris Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Bundy officiating. Burial will be at McGhee Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Zella Scroggins
Zella Mae (Watkins) Scroggins, 81, of Morrilton died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005.

She was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Center Ridge, a daughter of Thomas and Della Watkins. She was of the Assembly of God faith.

Survivors include her husband, Robert D. Scroggins; one daughter, Glenda Ruth Tedder of Little Rock; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was 10 a.m. Friday at Lost Corner Cemetery with Pastor Brad Brimmer officiating. Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers were Gary Martz, Kevin Martz, Wayne McNabb, Dale Martin, Brandon Martz, and Johnny Watkins.

Calvin Tarble Jr.
Calvin Edwin Tarble Jr., 71, of Morrilton, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005.

He was born July 4, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., a son of Calvin Edwin Tarble Sr. and Minnie (Kelly) Taylor. He was a retired bus driver for Alaska School District and of the Southern Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, John Tarble of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Burke Tarble of Ft. Leavenworth, Kan.; one daughter, Brenda McIntyre of Indiana; one brother, Robert Taylor of Oro Grande, Calif.; two sisters, Dolores McGuire of Morrilton and Mary Wilson of Center Ridge; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harris Chapel with Pastor Steve McCann officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers were Charles Wilson, James Wilson, John Palwik, Tim McGuire, Noah Shipp, and Jason Robinson. Honorary pallbearers were Sam Wilson and Junior Garrett.

Douglas Tomlin
Douglas C. Tomlin Sr., 69, of Edmond, Okla., died Sunday, Aug. 7.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda (Wagner) Tomlin; two sons, Douglas Tomlin Jr. and Steven Tomlin; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Britton Baptist Church in Edmond. Graveside service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hamilton Cemetary in the Rose Creek Community.

Mae Walls
Mae Helen Swinton Walls, 60, of Kansas City, Kan., formerly of Mt. Zion, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005.

She was born April 6, 1945, in Blackwell, the daughter of Inez Roseburrow and Jessie Swinton. She graduated from L.W. Sullivan High School.

Survivors include one stepdaughter; three sisters, Pinellia Gunnells of Atkins, Mattle Harris of Kansas City, Kan., and Mildred Morris of Morrilton; and two brothers, Wilson Swinton of Blackwell and James Lee Swinton of Waterfield, Maine.

Funeral arrangements were not available.

Alvin Hardin
Alvin Hardin, 63, of Morrilton, died Sunday, July 31, 2005.

He was born June 4, 1942, in Morrilton, a son of Lois Geneva Brooks and Noah Hardin. He was a general laborer and a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his stepmother, Mildred Leapheart of Kansas City, Kan.; seven brothers, Dr. Willie Hardin of Little Rock, Herschel Leapheart and Ronald Leapheart, both of Kansas City, Kan., Serschel Leapheart of Calipatria, Calif., Donald Leapheart of Iola, Kan., Morris Leapheart Jr. of Kansas City, Mo., and Eddie Lee Leapheart of Jackson, Miss.; three sisters, Tillie O’Neal-Kyles of Roswell, Ga., Joanna L. Newman of Fayetteville, and Willie Ethel McNeal of Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Andrew Robertson. Burial was at Oddfellows Cemetery by Wilson and Jarrett Funeral Home Inc.

Pallbearers were Dr. Willie Hardin, Herschel Leapheart, Ronald Leapheart, Morris Leapheart Jr., Serschel Leapheart, and Donald Leapheart. Honorary pallbearers were Otis Lee Kindle, Robert Lee Anderson, Artis Criswell Sr., Mitchell Williams Jr., Velma Lee Harris Sr., John L. Newman, Lawrence McDaniel, and Terrance Taylor.

Helen Ruth Reid
Helen Ruth Reid, 67, of Mabton, Wash., died Friday, March 18, 2005.

She was born Dec. 20, 1937, in Cleveland, the daughter of Wilma Leddie and Lester Reid. She was a cook at Mabton Cafe and worked at Sunnyside Safari until retirement in 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Pierce of Nevada and Doug David of Washington; two daughters, Robin Tracy and Tara Roberts, both of Washington; two brothers, Darrell Reid of Jerusalem and Lester Reid of Arizona; three sisters, Jean Kinney of Jerusalem, Carolyn Caton and Brenda Trigg, both of Stockton, Calif.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Reid Cemetery in Cleveland Saturday, May 28, at 11 a.m., with Bill Jack Reid officiating.

A potluck luncheon will follow the service at the cemetery’s pavilion.

Eva Jo Biggs
Eva Jo Lenna Biggs, 72, of Plainview, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005.

Born in Bondurant, Iowa, on Aug. 27, 1933, to Raymond and Cora Catron Peercy. She retired from Wayne Poultry. She is the widow of James Donald Biggs.

Survivors include five sons, Ron Phaup of Danville, Steve Phaup of Ola, Donald Biggs of Moreland, and Thomas Biggs and David Biggs, both of Plainview; one daughter, Peggy Robinson of Plainview; two sisters, Lucille Jones of Kilduff, Iowa, and Mary Higedon of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at Faith Church in Dardanelle by the Rev. David Jay and the Rev. W.A. Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Casa Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Benefield, J.R. Haney, Lloyd Bowman, Raymond Phaup, James Phaup, and Gary Carter.

Visitation is tonight (Wednesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangement are by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville.

Jimmy Bradford
Jimmy Don Bradford, 61, of Morrilton, formerly of Bee Branch, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005.

He was born Nov. 25, 1943, in Bee Branch to Troy and Opal (Valentine) Bradford. He was a truck driver for Lindsey Petroleum, a farmer and a member of Southside Baptist.

Other than his mother, survivors include his wife, Carolyn Bradford; one daughter, Shawn Stobaugh of Morrilton; one brother, Ronnie Bradford of Bee Branch; three sisters, Robin Brumley of Quitman, Jackie Kreutzer of Benton and Judy Harris of Houston, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday at Southside Baptist Church by Bro. Steve Stephens. Burial was in Bee Branch Cemetery by Roller-McNutt Conway.

Pallbearers were Danny Ray Linn, Billy Paul Rogers, Richard Mahan, Lloyd Baker, Mike Phillips, Doyce Evans, Kenneth Bailey, Charles Wood, George Henderson, and Bill Hooten

Charles Dixon
Charles Edward Dixon, 59, of Morrilton died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005.

He was born Nov. 27, 1945, in Morrilton, a son of Amos and Pearlie Dixon. He was a Navy veteran and aircraft mechanic.

Survivors include five sisters, Alice Robinson of Plumerville, Helen Hervey of Morrilton, Cledia Tolliver of Lake Village, Gertha Gray, Margaret Kellybrew, both of Los Angeles; one brother, James E. Dixon of Morrilton; three grandchildren.

Graveside service was 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Plumerville by Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, Morrilton.

Catherine L. Williams
Catherine L. Williams, 86, of Little Rock departed this life on May 21, 2007. She was born on February 28, 1921, and grew up in Menifee, Arkansas. A schoolteacher for over three decades, she taught at Conway County Training School, Scipio A. Jones High School and NLR Northeast High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Williams, a former minister of the Lewis Street Church of Christ, where together they faithfully served the Lord until their passing. She is survived by her children, Warren Phillip (Grace) Williams of Omaha, NE, Darrin (Nicole) Williams, and Cindy Johnson both of Little Rock, and Cynthia Johnson of Wichita, KS; five grandchildren, Whitney Williams, Megan Williams, Gabrielle Williams, DJ Williams and Payton Williams; and one niece, Margaret Williamson. She is also loved and remembered by many other relatives and a host of friends.
Family visitation will be from 6 – 8 pm on Friday, May 25, 2007, and funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Lewis Street Church of Christ, 2716 S. Lewis Street, Little Rock, AR 72204. Interment will be at Rest In Peace Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hensley, Arkansas. Arrangements entrusted to Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home 8821 Colonel Glenn Little Rock. "IN YOUR TIME OF NEED....... WE CARE".

Willard Emerson
Willard Ray Emerson, 83, of Perryville, Ark., passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2005.

He was born July 31, 1922, in Chester County, Tennessee, a son of Curry Lee and Julie Emerson. He served in the Army during World War II in Germany. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, a Good Conduct Medal, an EAME service medal with two bronze service stars and other medals.

Mr. Emerson became a Christian Dec. 7, 2004, during his stay in the VA Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Ray; and a daughter, Phyllis Carol.

Survivors include a brother, Burl Emerson of Russellville, Ark.; a sister, Lois Cooper of Morrilton, Ark.; and a host of nieces and nephews that say he was their favorite uncle.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. at John German Funeral Home in Hayti, Missouri, with nephew Jerry Cooper officiating. He was buried next to his daughter, Phyllis, in Hayti Cemetery.

Pallbearers were nephews, Ron Baskin, Art Bullington, Burl Bullington, Danny Bullington, and Dennis Faris; and niece, Darcy Baskin.

Virgil Hearne
Virgil “Papa June” Hearne, 84, of Morrilton, formerly of Atkins, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005.

He was the widower of Le-tha “Nanny” Hearne. He was a retired cattleman.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Roland of Morrilton; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

A graveside memorial service will be held 3 p.m., today (Wednesday) at the Atkins Cemetery with the Rev. Dean Hicks officiating. Arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service.

Lola Mae Lee
Lola Mae “Grannie” (Boles) Lee, 76, of Perryville went to rest in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, August 25, 2005, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Baron Fork (Stillwell), Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Clyde and Maudie Boles.
At the age of 20 she met and married the love of her life, Sam “Junior” Lee Jr. They were married March 18, 1950, and she was his loving wife for 42 years until his death on September 1, 1992.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and her parents.
She was a homemaker and member of Perryville First United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Mary Lee of Vilonia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” and Ben Brand of Huntington and Anna and Richard Jones of Magazine; four sisters, Tommie Tindell of Union Valley, Ruth Lee of Perryville, Pauline Campbell of Squaw Valley, Calif., and Stella Morris of Roland; four brothers, Mack Boles of Little Kansas, Okla., Wilburn Boles of Sanger, Calif., Dutch Boles and Harold Boles, both of Dinuba, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Benji and wife Sherri Brand, Jennifer Brand, Shawna and husband Jason LaFleur, Sammy Clyde Lee Jr., Chris Staub, Courtney and husband Dustin Shaw, Landon Lee, Shane Lee, Sarah and husband Jayson Sherrill, and Skyler Jones; five great-grandchildren, Nicole and Samantha Brand, Kamryn and Kagen LeFleur, and Haley Shaw; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Louise and Robert Baggett, Johnny and Nell Lee, Billy and Lynn Lee, Maycel and Gordon Simpson, Jake and Marilyn Lee, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was always supported by her brothers and sisters of her church family.
She was an incredible woman to all who knew her and she will be missed dearly. It is comforting to know that she is now where she has longed to be — with Jesus, her loving husband and other loved ones who passed before her. Without a doubt, she is now walking on streets of gold with her two new legs and waiting for the day the rest of us will join her. This was evident by the smile on her face.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, August 29, at Perryville First United Pentecostal Church. Burial was in Harper Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Perryville.
Pallbearers were Michael Holbrook, Dale Holbrook, Bob Holbrook, David Atherton, Greg Lee, David Netherton, Eugene Tindell, and Vernie Tindell. Honorary pallbearers included all other nephews.
