Alton Gooch
Alton Lee Gooch, 73, of Russellville died Wednesday, March 30, 2005.
He was a retired cattle and poultry farmer, member of the Danville Church of Christ, and 1972 Yell County Farm Family of the Year.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Christy Gooch; three sons, Mike Gooch of El Dorado, Sam Gooch of Morrilton, Chris Gooch of Warren, Pa.; one brother, Tommy Gooch of Lone Pine; two sisters, Pearl Davis, Danville, Nettie Pitts of Ola; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, 11 a.m. at Danville Church of Christ. Burial was at Lower Spring Creek Cemetery, Belle-ville by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Robert Keathley, Sam Bonds, Terry Hennessy, Michael Hennessy, Jeremiah Gooch, and Tyler Gooch.

Bernard Growns
Bernard R. Growns, 89, of Aplin, died Monday, April 4, 2005.
He was born March 20, 1916, in Aplin, a son of Billy Growns and Nanny Mosby Growns. Mr. Growns was a member of the Aplin Church of Christ and a lifelong cattle farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Augusta (Gullett) Growns; one son, Bill Growns of Aplin; one daughter, Betty Comstock of Conway; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Aplin Church of Christ with Jason Almond officiating. Burial will be at Smyers Cemetery
by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Bobby Hodge
Bobby Fay Hodge, 65, of Morrilton died Friday, April 1, 2005.
He was born July 30, 1939, in Dumas, a son of Frank Edgar Hodge and Hollis Ava (Dortch) Hodge. He was a Master Plumber and worked for the South Conway County School District. He was licensed by the state of Arkansas as a Class A HVACR contractor and licensed state boiler installer and seller. He was of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Tilley) Hodge; one daughter, Michelle Ness and husband Ed of Morrilton; his twin brother, Billy Hodge and wife Ann of Morrilton, three brothers, Eddy Hodge and wife Charlotte of Morrilton, Larry Hodge of Morrilton, and Johnny Hodge and wife Katie of Little Rock; one granddaughter, Alesha Ness; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Plasek and one grandson Tyler Ness.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday at Morrilton First Assembly of God with the Rev. Trent Gabbard and the Rev. Jimmy Stewart officiating. Burial was in Brents Cemetery
by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Ron Ferguson, Paul Mitchell, Wes Boner, Cletus McCoy, Bobby Young, and Johnny Wingo.
J.C. Lee
J.C. Lee, 65, of Conway, died Saturday, April 2, 2005.
He was born April 6, 1939, in Milo, Okla., a son of Lathie and Juanita (Stephens) Lee. He was retired from the city of Conway and a member of Jordan River Baptist Church in Little Rock.
Other than his father, survivors include his wife, Mae Helen Lee; four sons, Kenneth Lee and Charleston, both of Conway, Timothy Lee, Los Angeles, and Jimmy Lee, Little Rock; one daughter, Kathy White, Gaithersburgh, Md.; five brothers, Henry Lee and Willie Ray Lee, both of Milo, Okla., Bennie Lee and McArthur Lee, both of Ardmore, Okla., and Robert Lee of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Geneva Wright of Milo, Okla., and Cleta Prince of Ardmore, Okla.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, at Pilgrim Rest No. 2 Baptist Church in Wooster by the Rev. Houston White. Burial will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery
by Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, Conway.
Family visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. today (Wednesday).
Odell McCormack
Hubert Odell McCormack, 78, of Benton died Monday, April 4, 2005.
He was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Thornburg, to Claude and Ethel McCormack. Mr. McCormack was retired from the Benton Service Center, Jones Furniture Co., and was a Master Gardener, and both a U.S. Army and Navy WWII veteran. He was a member of the First Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene McCormack; sons, Curtis McCormack of Benton and Eddie McCormack of Haskell; two brothers, Clonnie McCormack of Thornburg and Don McCormack of Perryville; two sisters, Florence Fisher of Blue Jay and Margie Herrick of Martindale; and four granddaughters.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God, Benton, with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery. Ministers will be Gene Huskey and Teamon Jenkins. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight (Wednesday) at Ashby’s Funeral Home, Benton.
Rebecca Mercer
Rebecca Brixey Mercer, 68, of Casa died Saturday, April 2, 2005.
She was born March 31, 1937, in Casa, the daughter of James Oscar and Hadie Jane (Robinson) Brixey. She was a Free Will Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Mercer; one son, Maj. Russell Mercer of Bryant; two daughters, Carol Cotton and Karen House, both of Sheridan; one sister, Wanda Jean Robinson of Birta; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Monday, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with Bro. Al Michael officiating. Burial was at New Hope Cemetery
near Sheridan.
Pallbearers were Kenny Brixey, Bob Cody, Jerry Davis, Sam Cody, Johnny Cotton, and Perry Cooper.
Burl Miller
Burl Miller, 92, of Aurora, Colo., died Thursday, March 24, 2005.
He was born June 13, 1912, in Solgohachia, a son of Oscar and Margret Miller. He was a World War II and Korean Conflict Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Alice (Carbutt) Miller.
Funeral services were at Fairmount Mortuary Chapel with burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery
by Fairmount Mortuary.
Grover Murray
Grover Murray, 62, of Houston died Sunday, April 3, 2005.
He was born March 18, 1943, in Asheville, N.C., a son of Hansel G. Murray and Edna Marlowe Murray. He was the widower of Peggy King Murray, retired from Arkansas Kraft and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, Randy Ledford of Fletcher, N.C.; one brother, Jerry Murray of Leicester, N.C.; three sisters, Darlene Murray of Gaffney, N.C., Jo Ann Ramsey of Gaffney, N.C., and Barbara Cavanaugh of Litz, Penn.; two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lonnie Maxwell’s Houston Country in Houston.
Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Judy Ring
Judy Ring, 54, of Houston died Wednesday, March 30, 2005.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Ring; two children, Alicia Davis and Scott Ring; three brothers, Jerry, Gary and Teddy Anderson; sister, Joy Haynes; and one granddaughter.
The body will be cremated.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Houston Baptist Church in Houston. Arrangements were by Cremation Association of Arkansas, 753-3200.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 West 12th St., Little Rock, AR 72204.
Dorothy Rogers
Dorothy Loudyne Rogers, 70, of Detroit, Mich., died Monday, March 28, 2005.
She was born April 17, 1934, in Plumerville, a daughter of Eulas and Seola Curl. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Arkansas Club and Leah Chapter No. 43, Order of the Eastern Star of Michigan. She was employed with the State of Michigan as a clerk, then as an investigator with the Department of Labor. She was the widow of Walter Rogers.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Cornelius Rogers; one brother, Jimmie Lee Curl of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Saturday, at New Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Smith Jr. Burial was at Lincoln Memorial Park by Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, Inc.
Terah Childress
Terah Marsh Armstrong Childress, 96, of Perryville died Sunday, May 22, 2005.
She was of the Assembly of God faith. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey L. Armstrong, and her second husband, Alfonzo Childress.
Survivors include three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three great-stepgrandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and five great-great-stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be today (Wednesday), 10 a.m., at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Edgewood Memorial Park.
Athlene Clark
Hattie Athlene (Wood) Clark, 82, of Dallas, died March 7, 2005.
She was born Nov. 18, 1922, in Morrilton, and was salutatorian of Morrilton High School Class of 1940. She was a retired insurance agency commercial accounts representative, having first learned her insurance skills at Ormond Insurance Agency in Morrilton.
On Dec. 23, 1943, she married Farris LeRoy Clark in Morrilton. They celebrated 61 years of loving marriage. She was a devoted and caring wife, sister, mother, grandmother (“Momo”), and great-grandmother.
Farris and Athlene were 49-year members of the Allman Class at the downtown First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, where she was also an active member of the Women’s Circle and Projects. She treasured her many friends there and the time to visit with them while working on sewing and craft projects for nursing homes and Children’s Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Farris LeRoy Clark; her brother, O.H. Wood of Dallas; half-brother, Lester Wood, originally of Morrilton, now Little Rock; her daughter and son-in-law, Janis Lee Clark Zeigler and Billy Don Zeigler; granddaughters and their husbands, Robin Michele Zeigler Kinder and Pat Miles Kinder, Brandee Dawn Zeigler Schmidt and Jonathan Richard Schmidt; and her great-grandchildren, Austin Clark Kinder and Caitlin Rebecca Kinder; with all descendants residing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Our “Momo” will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Graveside service was March 9 at Grove Hill Memorial Park, with a memorial service at 2 p.m., at Sudie George Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, Dallas.

Hebe Hudspeth
Hebe Neale Hudspeth, 90, of Perryville died Thursday, May 19, 2005.
Born Dec. 9, 1914, near Aplin, she was the daughter of Jason Edward and Laura Ellen (Howard) Neale.
In the early 1940s, she and her late husband, Loyd, moved to the west coast where both worked long hours building the ships needed for maritime deployment during the crisis of World War II.
Later that same decade, she returned to Perry County long enough to become Perryville’s first telephone operator providing 24/7 service via a switchboard situated in the living room of the small family home located a block west of the courthouse on Aplin Street.
She retired from the U.S. civil service in 1974 as an administrative assistant at the Ordnance Depot near Umatilla, Ore., where she and her husband also owned and operated a motel.
After returning to Perry-ville, her interests centered on her friends, her church and the Senior Citizens’ Center where she manned the reception desk as a volunteer for several years.
Survivors include one daughter, Laura Sue (Hudspeth) Hunnicutt and son-in-law, O.B., of Perryville; a namesake granddaughter, Hebe Ellen Hauf of Chimicum, Wash.; two grandsons living in New Mexico, Richard and James Ellis; a niece, Alene Taylor Otts of Bigelow; and a nephew, Doyne Taylor of Little Rock.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday at Perryville’s First Baptist Church with the ministers Dr. Michael Stanley and Bro. Phillip Dunn officiating. Volunteers from the church served as pallbearers with interment following at Harper’s Cemetery
by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Joe Ben McDaniel
Joe Ben McDaniel, 74, of Little Rock, died Friday, May 13, 2005.
He was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Plumerville, a son of Allen McDaniel and Quincy Hervey. He was a member of St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and member of the Deacon Trustee Ministries. He served in the 
military, then attended different colleges and received two Master degrees. He taught several years at elementary and secondary schools and ended up at Arkansas Baptist College where he taught and also served as athletic director.
Survivors include his wife, Christene (Grant) McDaniel; one daughter, Christy Avery; one sister, Flora Jean Johnson; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were 10 a.m., Friday, May 20, at St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church with Dr. J.E. Booker officiating. Burial was at Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery
in North Little Rock by Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home, Little Rock.
Pallbearers were Arnold Lambert, Earl Thomas Sr., Wayne Grant, Cameron Mack, Roderick Lambert, Earl Thomas Jr., Richard Grant, and Derrick Avery. Honorary pallbearers were Deacon of Trustee Ministries, Mother Ministries Board, and Sunday School Class No. 9.
