Lonnie Whiddon

Lonnie “Woody” Whiddon, 78, of Mountain Pine died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004.

He was born on June 22, 1926, at Pervis, Miss., the son of William Riley and Qunnie (Nelson) Whiddon. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mountain Pine and retired from Weyerhauser after 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie (Williams) Whiddon; three sons, Lonnie Whiddon and Riley Whiddon, both of Mountain Pine, and Allen Whiddon of Vilonia; and four grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., today (Wednesday) in the Hughes Cemetery at Mountain Pine with Bro. Tommy Lanthrop officiating. Arrangements are by Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Pallbearers will be Colin Stiles, Steve Harvey, Randy Drye, Everett White, Shane Ford, Lonnie Womack and Aaron McNeely. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. P. K. Reddy and staff, Dr. and Mrs. S. K. Pandit, Lucky Wyman, Dr. Jerry Reed, Melvin Smith, Robbie Williams, John Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Heller, Harold Poteete, and Phillip Poteete.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mountain Pine.

Frances Iritha Cody

Iritha Cody, 83, of Perry, Arkansas, died Friday, February 4, 2005.
She was born June 30, 1921, in Casa, Arkansas, a daughter of the late John Wesley Moore and Minnie Bell Robertson Moore. Mrs. Cody was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, A.C. Cody of Perry; two sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Pearl Cody, Bill and Robbie Cody of Perry; one daughter, Carol Jean Anderson of Perry; one brother, Bonnie Dale Moore of Little Rock; two sisters, Annie Cody of Rose Creek and Mazie Cram of Harris Brake; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters, and an infant daughter, Norma Joyce Cody.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Saturday, February 5, at Harris Chapel with Bro. Gene Tanner and Bro. Tom Allen officiating. Burial was in McGhee Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Michael Hale, Joey Cody, Steve Moore, George Robinson, Bob Cody, and Jackie Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Bearl Moore, Earl Moore, David Dufresne, Buck Hale, Dennis Ward Jr., Elton Cody and Dean Cody.

Beatrice Dillon

Beatrice Dillon passed away peacefully February 5, 2005, at home in Rose City, Texas.

She was born September 7, 1919, in Cleveland, Arkansas, to Oscar and Lucy Brents Phillips. She lived most of her life in Morrilton, Arkansas, and retired from Crompton Mills. She was a homemaker and member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Arvil Dillon; grandson, Steven Parks; two sisters, Gerry Phillips and Polly Church; and her parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris Parks of Rose City, Texas, and Sharon Power of Little Rock, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Jeff Power of Sedalia, Missouri, Greg Power of Springdale, Arkansas, and Sheila Faske of Rose City, Texas; one stepgrandchild, Denise Lawler of Guin, Alabama; four great-grandchildren, Dillon Power, Jonathan Power, Lauren Po-wer, and Malana Power; one stepgreat-grandchild, Leslie Aldridge; two brothers, Joe Phillips of Russellville, Arkansas, and Carl Phillips of Osceola, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at Harris Chapel with the Rev. David Parks officiating. Burial will be at Lone Grove Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Power, Greg Power, Keith Faske, John Power, Chris Hill, and Matthew Pruitt.

Lucy Eades

Lucy Nova Bennett Eades, 92, of Plumerville, Arkansas, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2005.

She was born August 26, 1912, in Middleton, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Richard and Louella Greer Bennett. Mrs. Eades was a homemaker and a member of Plumerville Church of Christ.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Valree Eades of Conway, Arkansas; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Kenneth S. Cody of Plumerville, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Bryan Cody, Karen Crowell, Paul Eades, and Beth Zimmerman, as well as six great-grandchildren, Mis-ty Birdwell, Andrew Cody, Alyse Anna Eades, Jonathan Paul Eades, Cody Zimmerman, and Miranda Zimmerman; and two great-great-grandchildren, Rylie Elizabeth Birdwell and Chase Bennett Birdwell.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, C.B. Eades, two brothers, three sisters, and one great-grandchild.

Services were 10 a.m. Monday, February 7, at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bruce Bryant officiating. Burial was at Halbrook Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers were Warren Quattlebaum, Johnny Trafford, Randall Birdwell, Bry-an Cody, Paul Eades, and Paul Helton. Honorary pallbearer was Asbury Walker.

Bobbye Harrison

Bobbye Ruth (Buffalo) Harrison, 75, of Carlisle died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005.

She was the daughter of John and Virginia Buffalo and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was the widow of Jerrell Harrison.

Survivors include one daughter, Ranae Ferguson of Carlisle; one brother, Burl Buffalo of Texas; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton Baptist Church with interment in Hamilton Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home.

Eugene Jordon

Eugene Jordon, 82, of Blackwell died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005.

He was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Junction, Ala., a son of Willie James Minter and Rosie Burlock. He was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church where he was a choir member, assistant Sunday School Superintendent, young adult class teacher, treasurer and chairman of the Deacon Board.

He served on the St. Anthony’s hospital governing board, Conway County Legal Beverage Association board, and the Conway County Community Center board. He was past president of the Conway County NAACP.

Mr. Jordon was a past Master, Masonic Lodge; past Patron, Order of the Eastern Star; past Commander in Chief of the Consistory, 32nd degree; past Illustrious Potentate of the Shriners; past Imperial Deputy at large of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Noble of the Mystic Shrine, North and South America and its jurisdiction; Grand Inspector General of the 33rd degree AASR. He served Arkansas Grand Lodge as District Deputy Grand Master and Deputy Grand Lecturer of Arkansas.

Survivors include three brothers, Alvin Minter of Birmingham, Ala., Renny Minter of Meridian, Miss., and Carnell Burlock of Maywood, Ill.; and one sister, Ester Minter of Marion Junction, Ala.

Funeral services were Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Union Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Henry Anderson officiating. Burial was at Rose of Sharon Cemetery in Blackwell by Wilson and Jarrett Funeral Home Inc.

Pallbearers were members of the Masonic Order. Honorary pallbearers were Clifton Robertson, Lee Allen Stricklen, Calvin Canady, Kenneth Nichols, Vinord Hardiman, and Harold Black.

Mildred Morgan

Mildred Loraine Morgan, 83, of Whittier, Calif., died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005.

She was born Oct. 19, 1921, in Adona, to Logan and Lela Ferbrache. She graduated in 1939 from Adona High School. During World War II she worked in the Jacksonville Armory and for the Santa Fe Railroad in Texas. She later worked for Hughes Aircraft. She retired in the early 1990s from Paramount Chevrolet, where she’d been a customer service representative for the service department.

Survivors include her husband, Hugh Morgan; one daughter, Karen Morgan; sister, Mary Eubanks of Adona; two brothers, Charles Ferbrache and Russell Ferbrache.

Services were held Feb. 4, 2005, at Rose Hills Mortuary in Whittier, Calif.

Pallbearers were Brandon Eubanks, Charles Ferbrache, Eric Ferbrache, Paul Ferbrache, and Rich Rasmussen.

Wendell Acheson

Wendell “Bud” Acheson, 74, of Plumerville died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005.

He was born in West De Moine, Iowa, on Feb. 21, 1931, a son of Leslie Acheson and Christine (Peterson) Acheson. He was a retired Master Printer, a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Plumerville Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Acheson; two daughters, Sherie Lehman of Sacramento, Calif., and Sheila Larson of Castle Rock, Colo.; two sons, Eric Acheson and Leslie Acheson, both of Morrilton; one sister, Evelyn Sutherland of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday at the Bob Neal & Sons Chapel. Services and arrangements are by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home.

Duane DuVall

Duane Lee DuVall, 78, of Bakersfield, Calif., died Feb. 3, 2005.

He was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Hattieville, a son of Lee “Doc” DuVall and Ethel (Powell) DuVall. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a farmer and operated and managed a cold storage at Delano, Calif. He also owned and operated Union 76 at Taft Highway until his retirement. He was a member of Liberty Christian Church where he served as deacon and board member.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred (Proctor) DuVall; two children, Beverly Crawford, and Timothy DuVall; three brothers, J.M. DuVall, Lendell DuVall, and Larry DuVall; four sisters, Daphene Bewley, Marlene Webb, Shery Dunn, and Brenda Williams; three grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, and se-ven great-grandchildren.

Memorial service was held at Liberty Christian Center Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. by Pastor Dale Cornell. Graveside veteran’s service followed with the military Honor Guard at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary by Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary.

Donna Fletcher

Donna Ruth Fletcher, 50, of Morrilton, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005.

She was born March 9, 1954, in Cleveland, a daughter of James and Ruthie Mae (Byers) Moore. She was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church and a graduate of Wonderview High School. She was employed at Levi Strauss for 22 years and ICT for six years.

Other than her parents, survivors include one daughter, Sonda Fletcher of Morrilton; one brother, Wilbur Moore of Morrilton; seven sisters, Jennifer Foster, Loretta Moore, Verna Foster, Tanya Duncan, and Karen Stricklen, all of Morrilton, Helen Byers and Nannette Garlington, both of Cleveland; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Patrick Greene Sr. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cleveland by Wilson and Jarrett Funeral Home Inc.

Pallbearers will be Courtney Byers, Kevin Foster, Cameron Foster, Ryan Duncan, Lamar Duncan, Josh Stricklen, Jeremy Byers, and Raven Garlington.

Nona Irene Guthrie

Nona Irene Guthrie, 89, of Lake City, formerly of Caraway, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center of Jonesboro.

Born on Petit Jean Mountain Jan. 5, 1916, she was a daughter of Claude and Nancy Elizabeth (Evans ) Caudell. She had been a resident of the Caraway area for more than 50 years. She was a member of Caraway First Baptist Church.

She was the widow of three husbands, Aubrey Morgan, John Douglas and Ollie Guthrie.

Survivors include nine sons, Raymon D. Douglas of Benton Harbor, Mich., Charlie M. Douglas of Felton, Del., LeRoy Douglas of Manila, James Douglas and Floyd Douglas, both of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Ed Douglas of Fort Worth, Texas, Joe Douglas of Sherwood, Alvin Douglas of Caraway, and Troy Douglas of Black Oak; a daughter, June Wise of Lockhart, Texas; several stepchildren; three sisters, Gertrude Monday of Hornersville, Mo., Louise Wade of Russellville and Edith Leach of West Valley City, Utah; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in the chapel of Howard Funeral Service of Manila, with the Revs. Ferrell Duffel and Joey Smithson officiating. Burial was in Caraway Cemetery.

Her grandsons served as pallbearers.

Ronnie Hensley

Ronnie Lee Hensley, 56, of Searcy, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005.

He was born in Damascus on Feb. 18, 1949, a son of Fred Hensley and Helen (Mahan) Hensley. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three daughters, Rhonda Fleming of Wynne, Crystal Hensley of West Memphis, and Donna Hensley of Morrilton; two sons, Ronnie Lee Hensley of Plumerville and Micha Hensley of Morrilton; four sisters, Weda Lucas of Springfield, Erma Rawlings of Hattiesburg, Miss., Kathy Treadwell of Springfield, and Linda Weber of Vancouver, Wash.; three brothers, Fred Hensley of Maumelle, Bob Hensley of Sacramento Calif., and Richard Hensley of Searcy; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bob Neal and Sons Chapel. Services and arrangements by Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home.

Donnie Faye Kennedy

Donnie Faye Stane Ken-nedy, age 83, of Houston, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 24, 2005.

She was born January 19, 1922, at Houston, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Charlie Stane and Susie Mitchell Stane. She was the widow of Charlie “Buster” Kennedy, a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by one son and his wife, Kenneth and Barbara Kennedy of Houston; daughters and their husbands, Rada and Jim Day of Houston, Lavon and Larry Dunn of Conway, and Ilene and Bobby Gunther of Big-elow; brothers, Charles Stane of Bigelow, Joe Stane of Plumerville, Leon Stane of Houston; sister, Wilma Mimms of Lake Village; nine grandchildren, two stepgranddaughters, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Wayne Kennedy, one daughter, Alma Charlene Kennedy, four bro-thers, and one sister.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, February 26, at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sonny Davis and Father Richard Davis officiating. Burial was at Edlin Cemetery in the Stony Point community by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Pallbearers were Joey Gunther, Scott Gunther, Dan-iel Gunther, Nick Gunther, Craig Graham, and Steven Peterson. Honorary pallbearers were Lea Ann Kennedy, Dawn Freeman, Karrie Klos-ky, Kelly Garza, and Jennifer Schnur.

Eunice Mae Hood

Eunice Mae Hood, 59, of Menifee, died Saturday, Feb. 29, 2005.

She was born Aug. 28, 1945, in Morrilton, to Ethel Mae (Oliver) Day and Alex Day Sr. She was a member of the Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Theodore Hood Sr. of Morrilton; four daughters, Brenda K. Black, Onita Faye Martin, and Nicki Gail Hood, all of Russellville, and Gwen Michelle Hood of Morrilton; three sons, Charles Hood of Conway and Theodore Hood Jr. and Edward Hood, both of Menifee; three brothers, Alex Day Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., and Evangelist Nathaniel Day and Bobby Day, both of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Joyce Watkins of Dardanelle; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday at the Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. J. Dewayne Courtney. Burial was at Menifee Community Cemetery by Wilson and Jarrett Funeral Home Inc.

Pallbearers were Rayford Franklin, Jerry Coleman, Brian Delph, Neal Hood, Terry Hood, and Kenneth Hood.

Dorothy Lee

Dorothy Faye (Crowson) Lee, 63, of Thornburg died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005.
She was born June 15, 1941, in Dierks, a daughter of Joseph Wesley Crowson and Maude Mae (Taylor) Crowson.
Survivors include two sons, Wesley Lee of Union Valley and Johnny Lee of Thornburg; two daughters, Cindy Lee and Rose England, both of Thornburg; two sisters, Jewel Faye Sexton of Thornburg and Maxine Rissler of Casper, Wyo.; one brother, Herman Lee Crowson of Mills, Wyo.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Thornburg Baptist Church with Bro. Dennis Corder and Bro. Robert Harrison officiating. Burial was in Thornburg Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Perryville.
Pallbearers were Greg Lee, Scott Lee, George Holbrook, Rainey Smith, Gary Jones, and David Atherton.
