Hettie M. Smith
Hettie Mary Smith, 93, of Bellflower, Calif., formerly of Manning, died Jan. 29, 2001 at Woodruff Convalescent Center in Bellflower. She was born Aug. 8, 1907 in Kansas, daughter of the late Sterling Richard and Victoria Jane Fannon Ausbun. She was a clothing finisher and a Baptist. She was the widow of Clyde Smith.

Survivors include: Two daughters, Arlene DeKoning of Chino, Calif., and Gladys Combs of San Bernardino, Calif.; two sons, Carl Smith of Colgate, Okla., and Merl Smith of Bellflower, Calif.; a sister, Della Mae Erwin of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Delamar Cemetery near Manning with Rev. James Calhoun officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Luther M. Norris
Luther "L.M." Norris, 84, of Little Rock died Feb. 6, 2001. He was born July 31, 1916 in Poughkeepsie. He was an employee of Missouri Pacific Railroad, a World War II veteran, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Beech Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include: A son, John Norris of Little Rock; a sister, Geneva Horne of Arkadelphia; two grandchildren and a niece.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Rose Hedge Cemetery with Rev. Maurice Hitt officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.

Julia A. Hunter
Julia Ann Hunter, 90, of Arkadelphia died March 28, 2001 at Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia. She was born April 2, 1910 in Sparkman, daughter of the late Jim and Febbie Rucks. She was a homemaker and a member of Manchester Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include: A daughter, Vender C. Amos of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Rena Mae Shaw of Little Rock; and 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Bethel Baptist Church at Griffithtown with Elder G.C. Nolan officiating. Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Nancy T. Keyton
Nancy Taylor Keyton, 84, of Texarkana, Texas, died March 28, 2001 in a local retirement center. She was born June 14, 1916 in Marshall, Texas. She was a retired English and drama teacher at East Texas State University and a former teacher at Texas High School. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Davis Keyton, on Aug. 21, 2000.

Survivors include: Two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Keyton and his wife, Cindy of Hemphill, Texas, and Dr. Michael Keyton and his wife, Cheryl Clayton of Aurora, Ill.; six grandchildren, Sarah Dixon of Arkadelphia, Robin Johnston, Nancy Reed, Jeff Keyton, Karl Keyton and Aubrey Clayton; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was today at St. James Episcopal Church with Rev. Paul Lambert officiating. Burial was in Scottsville Cemetery near Marshall, Texas, under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.

David H. McCaskill
David Herman McCaskill, 61, of Sparkman died Feb. 26, 2001. He was born June 4, 1939 in Manchester, son of the late William Edgar and Coy M. Harkins McCaskill. He was a 1957 graduate of Arkadelphia High School and attended Manchester United Methodist Church. He served in the National Guard during the Central High crisis and was a former "Arkansas Gazette" carrier.

Survivors include: His wife, Linda M. Green McCaskill; a stepson, Jim Ed Thomas of Magnolia; a stepdaughter, Sharon Davidson of Rome, Ga.; a brother, Clarence McCaskill of Manchester; three sisters, Stella Cadorna of Denver, Colo., Floy Pierce of Hot Springs and Merlene Young of Sparkman; and a step-grandson.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Bethlehem Cemetery in Joan with Rev. Gary Turner officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Chris Canale, Tony Dickey, Glenn Hughes, Freddy Young, Johnny Chitwood and Benny Dickey.

Memorials may be made to the Clark County Sheriffs Boys and Girls Ranch or the Humane Society of Clark County.

Dalene Malcom
Dalene Malcom, 58, of Arkadelphia died April 5, 2001. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia where she was a member of the Special Friends Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Malcom, and stepfather, Ardell "Pop" Horne.

Survivors include: Her mother, Geneva Horne of Arkadelphia; and several cousins.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon with Rev. Rex Horne officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.

Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Douglas C. Plummer
Douglas C. Plummer, 91, of Fort Smith died April 4, 2001. He was the retired original owner of Plummer Furniture and Upholstering, a World War II Air Force veteran and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was the widower of Cleo A. Plummer.

Survivors include: A daugther, Glenda Aldridge Lairamore of Arkadelphia; a son, Damon Plummer of Fort Smith; two sisters Imogene Watkins of Florida and Melba Burgess of Pittsburgh, Penn.; a brother, Horace Plummer of Tyler, Texas; and a granddaughter, Alison Donnell.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17, in Edwards Funeral Home chapel at Fort Smith with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Keith, Chris, Danny, Brad and Larry Plummer and Freelin Castleberry.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 3619 N. 6th Dt., Fort Smith, Ark. 72904.

Billy M. Nicholson
Billy Morris Nicholson, 75, of Gurdon died April 8, 2001. He was a salesman for business colleges and a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Douglas Nicholson.

Survivors include: His wife, Carmen Nicholson of Gurdon; a son, Richard W. Nicholson of Porter, Texas; three daughters, Karen Denise Sabban of Clear Lake, Texas, Elizabeth Darnell Riemer of Chicago, Ill., and Sandra Lee Montgomery of Texas City, Texas; a stepson, Dan Peterson of Del Rio, Texas; two stepdaughters, Nina O\'Connell of Gurdon and Linda Sue Riser of Del Rio, Texas; and 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary United Pentecostal Church of Gurdon with Rev. Bill O\'Connell officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.

Memorials may be made to Calvary United Pentecostal Church.

Steve E. Rorie
Steve Eugene Rorie, 54, of Hot Springs Village died April 8, 2001 at Arkansas Hospice Center in North Little Rock. He was born Dec. 11, 1946 in Morrilton, son of Raymond and Mary Carter Rorie. He was a general contractor, an artist, a member of Houston Assembly of God Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietname War.

Survivors include: Three sons, Clint Rorie of Amarillo, Texas, and Steve Raymond Rorie and Alexander Dewitt Rorie of Hot Springs Village; three daughters, Cassandra "Cassy" Daily of Phoenix, Ariz., Cindy Hawkins of Washington and Sabrina Rorie of Conway; his parents, Raymond and Mary Rorie of Hot Springs Village; four brothers, Joseph Rorie of Hot Springs Village, Jimmy D. Rorie of Gun Barrel City, Texas, Larry D. Rorie of Bigelow and Mark Rorie of Canton, Texas; two sisters, Pam Love of Russellville and Linda Madlock of Wilmington, Okla.; and five grandchildren.

Graveside service was today at Oak Grove Cemetery near Bigelow in Perry County with Rev. Clay Stubbs officiating. Burial was under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice Center in North Little Rock.

Claribel H. Wingfield
Claribel Hall Wingfield, 101, of Arkadelphia died Aug. 8, 2001 at Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia. She was born July 2, 1900 in Hollywood, daughter of the late Duane and Henrietta Hall. She was a member of Center Grove United Methodist Church and was very devoted to Davidson Campground. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wingfield; two daughters, Glendean Roberson and Christine Wagner; and one granddaughter, Evelyn Cash.

Survivors include: One daughter, Hazel Peters of Arkadelphia; five sons, Dale, Austin and his wife, Merle, Ray and his wife, Hilda and Bert and his wife, Jacque Wingfield, all of Arkadelphia; and Ezra and his wife Laura Wingfield of Benton; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a loving caregiver, Ann Gray.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2001 at Third Street Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Turner and Rev. Fred Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the "Circle D" Camping Club.

Memorial may be made to Davidson Campground or Center Grove United Methodist Church c/o Mrs. Tommy McCauley, 4756 Hwy. 182 W., Okolona, Ark. 71962, or a church of your choice.

Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 at the funeral home.

J.R. Hutcherson
J.R. "Hutch" Hutcherson, 67, of Greenwood died Oct. 21, 2001 in Fort Smith. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a deacon at Faith Baptist Church in Jenny Lind.

Survivors include: His wife, Alice Hutcherson; three daughters, Donna Marlin of Hot Springs, Tracey Lynn Murphy of Tulsa, Okla., and Valerie Gallagher of Fort Smith; three sons, James R. Hutcherson of Whittier, Calif., and William P. Hutcherson and Brandon Cartwright of Greenwood; a sister, Dolly Hutcherson of Arkadelphia; a brother, Milton Hutcherson of Dalark; and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Baptist Church in Jenny Lind. Burial will be in Jenny Lind Cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.

Pallbearers are Bill Hutcherson, Brandon Cartwright, James Hutcherson, Henry Marlin, Brian Gallagher and Brian Gallagher II.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Baptist Children\'s Home, P.O. Box 552, Little Rock, Ark. 72203.

Family visitation is 6:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thurman O. Watson
Dr. Thurman O. Watson, 79, of Arkadelphia died Dec. 14, 2001 at Twin Rivers Health and Rehab. He was born March 19, 1922 in Alton, Ill., son ot the late Lonus and Annie Jenkins Watson. He was a professor in the education department at Ouachita Baptist University, a member of the Kappa Delta Pi honor society in education, he served as minister of music and education in Baptist churches throughout the state, he sang baritone with the faculty quartet, a member of First Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include: His wife, Sue C. Watson; a daughter, Denise Sue White of Anchorage, Alaska; a son, Bruce Watson of Tyler, Texas; a brother, J.R. Watson of Alton, Ill.; a sister, Regina Price of Alton, Ill.; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Root and Jeff Root officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memoiral Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Bill Hurley, Bill Vining Jr., Ralph Ford, John Small, Charles Wright and Phil Hardin.

Memorials may be made to Resurrection Ministries, P.O. Box 4396, Tyler, Texas 75712.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
