Carrol Haywood
Carrol Haywood, 72, of Senath died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at his residence.
Born Dec. 14, 1931, in Holcomb, son of the late Herschel and Nora Miles Haywood, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the
Korean War. He was employed as a supervisor at Emerson Electric Company.
On May 2, 1975, he married Mary Beth Harris, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three sons, Greg Haywood of Kennett, Kenny Holmes of Senath and Jason Holmes of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; one brother, Perry Allen Haywood of Cedar Hill, Texas; four sisters, Madge Goans of Pontiac, Mich., Shirley Bader of Hillsboro, Mo., Linda Beckwith of Arnold, Mo., and Vickie Allen of Campbell; and five grandchildren, Gregory and Courtney Haywood and Stephanie, Natalie and Benjamin Holmes.
He was preceded in death by one son, Carrol Lynn Haywood; one brother, Jack Haywood and one grandson, Joshua Blake Haywood.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Lavone Smart officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery
at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Al Purvis, Larry Masterson, Danny Ford, Barry Palmer, David Harris and Harold Edwards.
Lynn Wilson
Lynn Wilson, 53, of Pollard, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.
He was born Dec. 25, 1950, in Poplar Bluff, the son of Sydney Lomax Wilson and the late Lyman Theodore Wilson.
He married Sharon Umfleet on Sept. 18, 1993.
He was a Field Representative for Watermelon Brokerage and a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church in Holcomb.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyman, and one brother, Donald Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wilson of Pollard; his mother, Sydney Lomax Wilson of Holcomb; two daughters, Stephanie Estes and husband, Wade, and Sarah Jo Morgan and husband, Scotty, all of Holcomb; a son, Christopher Lynn Wilson, of Holcomb; three grandchildren, Kelsey Estes, Wyatt Estes and Elie Morgan; a mother and father-in-law, Herman and Jewell Umfleet, of Advance; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Vickie Umfleet, of Marshfield, Mo.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (today), Sept. 1, 2004, in the Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with Bro. Buddy Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in Stanfield Cemetery
in Clarkton.

Emry Palmer Johnson
Emry Palmer Johnson, 72, of Piggott died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at his home.
He was born June 22, 1932 in Piggott, the son of the late Dellveicho and Anna Eva Johnson.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Kay Johnson; one son, Michael Shayne Johnson; one brother, Doyne "Biscuits" Johnson; and one sister, Eileen Johnson.
He is survived by two sons, Emry Palmer Johnson II of Kennett and Mooring Johnson of Piggott; one daughter, Pamela Fry of Piggott; three grandchildren, Courtney Johnson, Christopher Johnson and Destiney Johnson; one sister, Triply Muse of Piggott; one brother, Sholan Johnson of Copeville, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Gary Laughlin officiating. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Bates, Jimmy Bates, Kenny Wood, Bob Gower, Keith Thrasher, Cleat Stansill, John Wilson and Mike Hinkle.

Michael Harlon Reed
Michael Harlon Reed, 55, of Henning, Tenn., died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital in Memphis.
He was born on July 20, 1949, in Memphis.
He served his country in the United States Navy on board the U.S.S Boyd.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Edward Reed.
He is survived by his mother, Emily Elizabeth Montgomery Reed Low, and her husband, Virgil T. Low of Blytheville, formerly of Piggott; two daughters, Emily Jean Reed McDaniels and husband, Chris, of Millington, Tenn., and Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Reed Hansen and husband, Scott, of Ward Cove, Alaska; two grandchildren, Andrea Hansen and Jessie Hansen of Ward Cove, Alaska; one brother, Patrick Edward Reed of Blytheville; three sisters, Hellon Elizabeth Reed Bageant and husband, Harry, of Piggott, Ruby Ann Reed Mullins and husband, Eddie, of Tyro, Miss., and Charlotte Virginia "Ginger" Reed Voyles and husband, Paul, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
There will be no public viewing or service.

Walter H. Christopher
Walter H. Christopher, 93, of Piggott died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Piggott.
He was born June 12, 1911, in Rector to the late Edwin and Nancy Christopher.
He was a carpenter and of the Methodist faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Geneva Faye Christopher; three sons, Dewayne Christopher and two infant sons, Roger and Loyd Dean Christopher; one infant daughter, Verna Christopher; and one sister, Artie Lacey.
Survivors include five sons, Darrell Christopher of Piggott, Cecil Christopher of Phoenix, Ariz., Byron Christopher of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Terry Christopher of Flint, Mich.; three daughters, Verla Christopher of Piggott, Vonna Peck of Paint Rock, Texas, and Sheron Wildmo of Fenton, Mich.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15 (today), at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Jack Bearden officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery
with Mitchell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Loman W. Long
Loman W. Long, 89, of Piggott died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Murphy Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on March 10, 1915, the son of the late Charlie and Ivy Corn Long.
He was married to Margaret Gibson, she preceded him in death on May 29, 1991. He then married Myrtle Blue.
He was preceded in death by one grandson; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Long of Piggott; five children, Phyliss Hawkins of Monroe Center, Ill., Joan Hurd, Thomas Long, Janet Gibbs and Gene Long, all of Rockford, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie McVay and Virginia Emichbuger both of Kentucky; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date in Rockford, Ill. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Esther Evelyn Fry
Esther Evelyn Fry, 79, of Farmington, Mo., died Sept. 15, 2004, at MARMC in Farmington.
She was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Williamsville, Mo., to Clarence and Nora Armstrong Bristow.
She was a member of Farmington First Baptist Church and married George Franklin Fry 58 years ago on Sept. 7, 1946.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Leonard Bristow; and one brother-in-law, Don Duckett.
She is survived by her husband, George Franklin Fry of Farmington, formerly of Piggott; one daughter, Glenda Kay Fry Dowler of Lee's Summit, Mo.; three sons, Larry F. Fry and wife, Lee Ann, of Logansport, Ind., Garry Fry and wife, Debra, of Dodge City, Kans., and Terry Fry and wife, Cindy, of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Juanita Duckett of Florissant, Mo., and Frieda (Mrs. Leon) Ballew of Granite City, Ill.; two brothers, Willard Bristow and wife, Mary, of Hermitage, Mo., and Robert Bristow and wife, Pat, of Florissant; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Farmington with Rev. Don Stanley and Rev. Richard Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery
in Farmington.
Otho Campbell
Otho Campbell, 89, of Amory, Miss., formerly of Piggott, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, in Amory.
He was born Oct. 29, 1914, in Piggott, the son of the late Arthur Glen and Hattie Jane Fields Campbell.
He was united in marriage to Oline M. Miller on June 29, 1940. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2000. He married Jewerldean Jacobs Pavlick on Sept. 22, 2001.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Sherfield; and two brothers, Clyde and Sidney Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Jewerldean Campbell of Amory, Miss.; two daughters, Joeann Vaughn and Willistene Mitchell, both of Amory, Miss.; one granddaughter, Ramona Stanford of Crystal River, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Kari and Rebecca; two sisters, Nellie Gossett and Mildred Gossett of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dan Gossett, Daniel Gossett, Jerry Gossett, Norman Gossett, Richard Gossett, Larry Bowling, Toby Stanford and Glen Campbell.

Stanley "Dusty" Gunnels
Stanley "Dusty" Gunnels, 49, of Piggott died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at the Piggott Community Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1955, in Gideon, Mo., the son of Norman and Stella Sharp Gunnels.
He was united in marriage to Tamie Murray on Oct. 27, 1989.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Gunnels.
He is survived by his wife, Tamie Gunnels of Piggott; his mother, Stella Gunnels of Senath; eight children, Steven Gunnels of Kansas City, Mo., Jimmy Gunnels, Jessica Hughs and Lisa Connor, all of West Virginia, Kellie Nellie of Georgia, Derek Gunnels of Piggott, Andrea Walker of Steele, Mo., and Matthew Murray of Piggott; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Larry Gunnels of Holcomb; two sisters, Delora Crawford and Connie Bell, both of Kennett; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Mike Book officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Barry Keck, Virgil Rice, Chris Bellers, Matthew Vancil, Scotty Crawford, Chris Shelton, Armondo Santos, Joey Absher and Ralph Bell.

Elton Branson Davis
Elton Branson Davis, 65, of Rossville, Tenn., died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at the Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital.
He retired from ABF Freight Systems after 42 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Branson "Speck" Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diana Davis; a daughter, Dana Davis of Arlington, Tenn.; a son, Keith Davis of Rossville, Tenn.; his mother, Virginia Carman of Piggott; two sisters, Carolyn Featherston and husband, James, and Erma Dean Campbell and late husband, Bill, all of Piggott; two brothers, Larry Davis and wife, Sandra, and Edmund Davis and wife, Marie, all of Piggott; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, in the Memphis Funeral Home Germantown Parkway Chapel. Burial was in the Memory Hill Gardens in Memphis.
