A native of Piggott, Ms. Prince was born May 16, 1929, to Fred and Nettie Vaughn Jaggers. She married Aaron E. Prince in 1944, and moved to California shortly thereafter. After over 25 years of marriage, they divorced, but continued to enjoy their family.
Ms. Prince provided day care in her California home for several children over many years. Later she worked in medical billing for Alameda County for a decade, retiring in 1995. A devoted mother and "Grammy," she raised four daughters and a son. She went to great lengths to ensure that all of her children, and later their spouses, felt equally loved and that none of them was held higher than another. She did everything in her power to make sure that her children were properly behaved and prepared for church or social events. Her children fondly recall that, whatever the holiday or occasion, Virginia made sure they were well-attired, always buying or even making new clothes for them. Virginia also took pleasure in tending her beautiful garden of roses and other flowers and listening to old-fashioned Southern gospel music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Clarence Jaggers; and her sister, Geletza Langford.
