Wanda Lee Wiles
Wanda Lee Wiles, 79, of Genesee Township, Mich., died on Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Gideon, Mo., the daughter of Walter and Pearl (Babb) Henson.
She had been employed by General Motors Fisher Body Division until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, parents, one brother, one sister, one granddaughter and two nephews.
Survivors include one son, Dennis and wife, Vicky, of Grand Blanc, Mich.; two daughters, Beverly Mason and husband, Roger, of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Carol Leblanc and son, Luke, of Flint, Mich.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six brothers, Joseph Henson of Missouri, Don Henson of Illinois, Bob Henson, Vernon Henson and Larry Henson, all of Michigan; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Mt. Morris, Mich. Hansen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday (today), Feb. 22, 2006, at the Stanfield Cemetery
in Clarkton, Mo. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
Arthur Dreadman Bennett
Arthur Dreadman Bennett, 81, of Corning died on Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 30, 1924, in McDougal, the son of the late William Arthur and Della Dorothea (Dobbins) Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was a retired machinist. He retired from Industrial Techtonics Inc. after 31 years of service. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a two sisters, Thela Kaiser and Wilma Roach; and a brother, Brice Bennett.
Survivors include his wife, Myra Elizatene (Gribble) Bennett of the home in Corning; two daughters, Judy Balyeat and husband, Rodney, of Tecumseh, Mich., and Kathy Field and husband, Mark, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; one brother, James Bennett of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two sisters, Lucille Downey of Lawrenceburg, Ky., and Syble Fields of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two grandchildren, Todd and Trevor Balyeat; and two great-grandchildren, Chase and Peyton.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning with Rev. Loy Culver officiating. Burial will follow in Post Oak Cemetery
at McDougal.

Robert H. Breeden
Robert H. Breeden, 97, of Russellville, who co-owned the Clay County Democrat for 20 years with Ron and Nancy Kemp, died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
In addition to the Clay County Democrat, Breeden and the Kemps also owned the Piggott Times, the Northeast Arkansas Town Crier in Manila, the Campbell (Mo.) Citizen and the Dunklin County Press in Senath, Mo.
Breeden and the Kemps first became acquainted when Breeden co-owned the Russellville Courier-Democrat, where the Kemps were employed. During that period, Breeden also owned newspapers in Paris, Charleston and Greenwood.
Breeden started his newspaper career in 1931 as editor and co-publisher of the Cleveland (Okla.) American. He remained there until 1962. He also served as a director of the Oklahoma Press Association.
As a Republican, he was the minority leader of the Oklahoma Senate for two terms, representing Pawnee and Noble counties. He was active in Oklahoma politics and helped manage Henry Bellmon's successful campaign as the first Republican governor in the state.
In 1963 he resigned from the State Senate and moved to Vinita, Okla., as the director of the Grand River Dam Authority. He served as director of the Oklahoma Industrial Development and Parks Department from 1965 until 1969. He was director for Oklahoma's Office of Housing and Urban Development until his retirement in 1977.
Following his retirement, he moved to Russellville. He owned newspapers in Oklahoma and Arkansas for 66 years.
Breeden was an avid Oklahoma Sooner football fan and rarely missed a home game. He attended all homes games last fall at the age of 97.
He was born to the late Roscoe and Zula Hancock Breeden on May 20, 1908, in Vicksburg, Miss. The family moved to a farm in Haskell, Okla., in 1909. He was a 1924 graduate of Valiant (Okla.) High School and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma in 1929.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Martha Miller Breeden; a brother, J.W. "Bill" Breeden, and and infant son, Bradley Donald Breeden.
He is survived by daughters Carolyn McLellan of Russellville and Nancy Vaughn of Bethesda, Md., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was Friday, March 31, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Russellville. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery
in Cleveland, Okla.

Alma Laverne "Aunt Tootsie" Elkins
Alma Laverne "Aunt Tootsie" Elkins, 73, of Piggott died on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, in the Murphy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Piggott.
She was born Oct. 30, 1932, in Campbell, the daughter of the late Oscar Holman and Violet Lee Berry.
She was united in marriage to Norman Elkins on Dec. 6, 1948.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; and two sisters, Clara Reeves and Charlene Weaver.
She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Duncan and husband, Billy, of McCrory and Marilyn Short and husband, Nick, of Fagus; two sons, James Elkins and Mike Elkins, both of Piggott; four granddaughters, Heather Duncan, Leandra Elkins, Kayli Elkins and Madison Elkins; one grandson, Colton Dudley; one great-grandson, Walker Kyle Johnson; two sister-in-laws, Linda Elkins and Mary Johnson, both of Pollard; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Billy Duncan officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Elkins, James Elkins, Nick Short, Steve Shore, Shelly Elkins and Martin Elkins.

Hazel Lorene Randolph
Hazel Lorene Randolph, 75, of Piggott, died Saturday, April 8, 2006, in St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
She was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Piggott, the daughter of the late Jack and Marie Wiley Warren.
She was united in marriage to Landon Randolph on July 1, 1952. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1973.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Marion Lee Warren; and three sisters, Deloris Collier, Nettie King and Birdie Kobbe.
She is survived by one daughter, Sonya Randolph of Piggott; two sisters, Mary Rogers of Rector and Francis Grissom of Upland, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Mark Book and Marston Carpenter officiating. Burial followed in the Williams Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Rogers Jr., Randy Rogers, Carl Toombs, Joe Davis, Eugene Grissom and Luke Davis.

Edward Leon Poe
Edward Leon Poe, 76, formerly of Piggott died on Friday, April 7, 2006, at the Life Care Center of La Center, Ky.
He was born Sept. 22, 1929, the son of the late Manny and Maudie (Youngblood) Poe.
He was married to Geneva Pillow on March 29, 1951.
He was a loving husband and father, a member of Hitt's Chapel General Baptist Church and worked as a carpenter building church pews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Estella "Dude" Pillow Poe; four brothers, Jim Poe, Paul Poe, Bud Poe and Richard Poe; and three sisters, Helen Sink, Norma Jean Smart and Mae McCann.
He is survived by one daughter, Brenda Pemberton and husband, Eddie Dean, of La Center, Ky.; a brother, Harold Poe and wife, Juanita, of Greenway; many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2006, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Richard Tippitt and Boyd Wicker officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Darren Poe, Josh Poe, Alan Smart, Wylie Smart, Jack McCann and Kevin Baxter.

Tennie Johnson
Tennie Johnson, 96, of Jonesboro died on Thursday, April 6, 2006, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
She was born Jan. 13, 1910, in Piggott, the daughter of the late Victor and Nora Toombs Wright.
She was united in marriage to Fonzie Johnson. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1974.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrl Hood and Mamie Nichols.
Survivors include a nephew, David Hood of Miami, Fla.; two great-nephews, Dr. Jim Golden of Maumelle and Dr. Stephen Golden of Jonesboro; and one great-niece, Dr. Nickie Golden of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2006, in the McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Kathy Holler officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery
in Kennett. Active pallbearers were Mike Ebbert, Steve Baker, Malcolm Culpepper, Dr. Stephen Lunde, Dr. Dan Johnson and Dr. Jim Golden. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Stephen Woodruff, Dr. Ryszarda Hejmej, Louisa Cox, Earnestine Andrews and Mike Morgan.

James B. Stout
James B. Stout, 85, formerly of Paragould, died April 4, 2006, in Montrose, Mich.
Born Aug. 28, 1920, in the Friendship Township, he retired from Buick in Flint, Mich., and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Stout; his parents, Frank and Mattie Stout; three children, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one son, James Stout of Corning; one daughter, Paula Chaut of Arkansas; one brother, Arlan Caroll of Flint; one sister, Thelma Stout of Flint, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 10, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Rev. Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial was in New Liberty Cemetery
with Pocahontas VFW Post 4456 providing 
military honors.

Opal Thomas
Opal Thomas, 79, of Piggott died Monday, April 17, 2006, at Piggott Community Hospital.
She was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Crockett, the daughter of the late John Henry and Ina Branson Easterwood.
She was united in marriage to Clarence "Wimpy" Thomas on Nov. 29, 1947. They had three children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Easterwood.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence "Wimpy" Thomas of Piggott; three children, Janice Johnson, Eddie Thomas and wife, Sue, and Robin Harmon, all of Piggott; four grandchildren, Jim Roberts, Amy McPherson, Mandi Pickering and Bradley Harmon; one brother, Floyd Easterwood of Piggott; one sister, Clara Sterling of St. Louis; two sisters-in-law, Georgia Redman of Piggott
and Juanita Riddle of Burton, Mich.; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (today), April 19, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Charles Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Mitchell Cemetery
in Greenway.
